Stepping into Tokyo Japan Sushi Buffet on W Green Rd felt like arriving at a second home. The aroma of sizzling teppanyaki and tangy teriyaki clung to the air like a familiar family hug. Laughter bounced off the walls, echoing countless birthday celebrations, clinking sake glasses during Mom's 70th milestone, and even my cousin's wedding reception. Each plate felt like a chapter in our family's history. We piled shrimp tempura, crispy on the outside and yielding beneath, onto mountains of fluffy white rice – a tradition that started more than a decade ago for the perfect comfort food. Our family, ever seafood enthusiasts, gravitated towards the glistening sashimi and japanese sushi rolls, each slice a work of art. But what truly elevates Tokyo Japan isn't just the food (though that's undoubtedly a star!). It's the service. The waitstaff, like old friends, anticipate our cravings and refill our water glasses before they're empty. They remember aunt's love for sesame balls and sneak her a bowl of the freshly cooked sweets with a wink. It's these little touches that make us feel cherished, not just customers. So, if you're ever in Houston, seeking a taste of both culinary excellence and familial warmth, look no further than Tokyo Japan Sushi Buffet.
Best quality/price buffet in Houston area. My family loves this place. 18$ for lunch and around $30 for dinner with snow crab legs and oysters. Food is always fresh and good quality. Highly recommend their shrimp tempura, probably the best recipe in all all you can eat restaurants in Houston area
Prices clearly posted at the host stand. Service was amazing, never let my drink empty. Sushi variety was great and well stocked. Very good! What I think was cheesecake was bad and I'd like more fruit options and hot tea options as they only have green tea, nothing caffeine free. Very clean too.
This is our first visit to this restaurant after pandemic. For seafood, the oyster is very fresh and tasty. Snow crab legs were big and always available. Live crawfish was a big surprise for us. Sea snails were pretty good. Sashimi was fresh. Ordered a medium steak with teriyaki sauce on the side. Really enjoy fresh and custom-made steak.
2/18/2023 UPDATE— They’re back!! Not quite the same, but absolutely close enough. Weekend lunch buffet - $16.99., weekday $14.99. Standouts— Octopus balls were real good. Fried noodles were seasoned nicely and texture not beat to death. Really loved the Tonkotsu soup. Differences— Didn’t see the cooked crab legs—which is fine. It was too much work to eat them. No specialty ice cream (red bean, green bean)—just strawberry, chocolate and vanilla. Tempura shrimp (greasy) and green beans (soggy) not as fabulous as before. Nice fresh flowers/plants. Everything was so fresh and so clean, clean! We’ll definitely be back. PREVIOUSLY— Good news— Tokyo is back with the same amazing tempura shrimp and perfectly cooked green beans. Bad news—besides the same tired decor, that’s where the similarities end. Disclaimer—this is the only place I have eaten/tried hotpot. And I realized.I’m not a fan. For $28 (weekend buffet ) and $14.99 weekday lunch buffet - you, too, can sit at a table and basically make your own soup until you just get tired of doing so. No thanks. Select broth, spice level, proteins and they bring them to you. Get up to pick items (veggies, etc.) to add. Sadly, the broths were flavorless. Even the spiciest was just oily, not even hot. It took more than two years for Tokyo to come back from the pandemic. Every week, I would drive by hoping they were revamping or working on something fabulous. Nope. You’ll see even the same plastic flowers in the same exact place. It’s like they don’t even care. I m nowhere near the place for lunch- those fabulous green beans and shrimp tempura. Hopefully, their hotpot game has stepped up, as we went their first weeekend they opened.
Great flavors. Fresh seafood. Delgado's dishes. Not a massive selection of Asian dishes but enough to fill many appetites. About $15-$25 for buffet for adults. Prices vary by age, day and time of the day. Not cheap however i think worth the price especially if you like sushi, sashimi & seafood. Freshly grilled beef abs chicken kabobs too.
Come to get dinner on Monday. $14.99 per person Monday to Thursday. Everything look very fresh and delicious. The sushi are served with many different types. They do have dimsum even it was dinner. Love the fried stuffs especially shrimps and crabs. Cream brulee and flans and many different desserts. Not bad for the money.

Myself and my Son stopped by after going roller skating. 🛼 It was nice to enjoy all you can eat CRAB LEGS! 🦀 😋 Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We also received a FREE Lobster 🦞 for dinner! I wish there were more options to choose from. I shall go again maybe in a month or so.
Entering this place, the atmosphere is nice and organized. The waiter helped my family and I to a table promptly. There’s a rectangular island in the middle that serves sushi and seafood. Another area on the back has a few select items that are interesting to get. I got two of each and tasted one each with and without soy sauce/wasabi. There are people who make the sushi in front of you when needed so that is good to see. The texture and flavors of all the sushi I tasted are great! Nothing seemed off about anything. Great expectations. I got a second plate that consisted of: Takoyaki, grilled shrimp, mussels (one has cheese and garnish? while the other one I got from the rectangular island), beef, and frog legs that I rarely try. The crab meat on the bottom of the image my parents helped me open. You would have to ask the waiters/waitresses for a crab opener. The takoyaki had a nice color to it and once you bite, the texture seems off. I expected the texture to be fluffy but it was like a creamy liquid. It is probably the filling. The flavor of the takoyaki is good overall. The beef has amazing texture, seasoned well, and the flavor has a nice garlicky, beefy taste. Just a bit oily since it was rested for awhile on the buffet plate. I bet it would’ve tasted way better when it was cooked before I got some. The frog legs are crispy with a nice bite. Salty and taste like chicken. I rarely eat frog legs but these are great to whoever don’t eat frog legs or scared to eat. The grilled shrimp is crispy but very salty to my liking. One of my family members like it though, just not my preference. The mussels are mediocre at best. The crab legs are long and the meat is sweet, love it! I tried the raw oysters with lemon and it didn’t taste fresh. Had to keep one under the napkin unfortunately since I can’t eat the second one. Overall, 4/5. I would go here as a recommendation from anyone, but won’t go here as often since it’s a bit expensive for 31 bucks per member on a Sunday.
First timer ⏲️ on this restaurant. They do have a great variety of Sushi 🍣. They also have this Hotpot area where you can prepare your own food, will try it next time. Based on previous reviews, I am agree in regards decoration, and careless about not removing some unnecessary items like a ladder at the entrance, or a vacuum in the host boot.
After seeing it was reopened it was closed for over two years, I was happy to revisit this place. I went here during lunch on a Saturday were they offer a limited menu. It was so limited that it left me with a conundrum in figuring what else I can eat since I pretty much tried everything I wanted by the second trip. I can't complain about the execution of the cooking as that was good, but I expected to have hot pot which I saw was only available for dinner. I did like the sushi. Fish was in very good shape, especially the salmon. Rice is sort of firm and lightly seasoned. However the rolls are large and have too much rice, but its a buffet - I cant be too hard. The hibachi shrimp was very good as well. It was tossed in a sweet chili seasoning. The sizing of the shrimp was the 16-20 variety. The hibachi beef was done medium well, but was bizarrely seasoned with sausage seasoning. I ate a good amount, but I was thrown off by that. Fried rice was excellent. It was made with short grain rice it and prepared without soy sauce - my preferred method. I think it is called yang chow fried rice. Chow mein was bit limp but had excellent wok hei like the rice. Hot sour soup was made the traditional way with wood ear fungus, tofu, bamboo shoots and dried lotus flowers. It was good, but too thick The fried blue crab was good, buffet quality. It was the local kind, not thr spiny Chinese one. The grilled salmon nugget with mayo and pony sauce were good too. Flesh was firm, not dry. I would go back if I was in the area. There are no other good buffets there in terms of quality, especially the sushi. 14.99 for lunch is reasonable for the quality you get.
Tokyo has a nice style for great Japanese buffet. The interior is quite nice and sleek. A nice environment to enjoy the buffet. The staff here were very nice and made me feel welcomed in the place. Now onto the buffet. A little quality thing with the some of the buffet foods is something to avoid a bit. Let's not forget the sushi part of the buffet. Fresh quality and great rolls. Sushi, a go-taker everytime I come in. A nice place for anytime. Oh and also a good place to take your family out to dinner. It's really nice for that.
Had the dinner buffet today. Place was clean, presentation on most items were good but need some quality control. Its really a 50/50 on stuff and I highly recommend you grab one small piece and then come around for seconds. Some stuff either tasted off like the seaweed salad which tasted like it was seasoned with dawn soap. Sushi was cut CHUNKY like as it was fruit. You got overseasoned crab legs that taste like Poseidon sweat. Oyster sizes were HUGE but they washed out the juices so there were little to no flavor but the preparation on whoever opened them deserves a raise. The deep fried blue crab that I could eat plates full of it. Same with the tempura. Get the tiramisu. Its good, not dry at all and coffee and cream was well balanced. Honestly its a coin toss here. If the price was $2-5 cheaper then it would be fine in by book but at $28.99 a person its a hard sell.
We went for our son't birthday dinner family get together. IT is ok, I think it must have been an old BBQ place what with the wood walls and ceiling like an old barn theme. I love Japanese food but am not a fan of buffets in general. There is a large assortment here I have to admit. I preferred to stick with the Nigiri sushi which did seem fresh. They have a mix of other cuisines like Chinese and even some Mexican style things which was odd but I guess for those who don't like Japanese that much it might be a choice they would make.

Hibachi steak was tough, the kara age chicken taste like ordinary fried chicken, the calamari was overcooked. Sushi was ok.

Wrong advertisement. They said hot pot on the sign board. But they didn't serve hot pot anymore, and $30 for seafoods buffet is not worth the price.
