Opinions de Embargo Hyannis
I love a good tapas place with good cocktails so this restaurant fit the bill. It was St. Patrick's day so all the drinks were green. They even had gluten free strawberry shortcake. It was a real treat, along with the coconut creme brulee. The scallops were just enough for me since I wasn't that hungry.
So we pretty much got the whole menu. Sat at the bar and started talking to the bartenders. My fiancé and I are getting married in West Dennis next year, and we wanted to get some dinner while we checked out the area. The ambiance and banter was great! The bartenders were back and forth with each other. They checked on us constantly. The food was amazing. Everything came coursed out perfectly. The pictures are of some of the menu items we got.
Wow, this place is doing it right! Two great bartenders, didn’t chat much (both seemed pretty busy) but made me feel comfortable. I had a beer and a dirty martini, the martini was perfectly chilled and delicious. Started with the clam chowder, there were no clams in my bowl but still absolutely delicious. I went with the 24oz cowboy steak for dinner, very happy with my decision. Cooked right to my preferred temperature and came with a wonderful brandy and peppercorn sauce. Fairly priced as well!
David was a great bartender. He made great suggestions and was knowledgeable of the menu and very welcoming. The food was delicious...my husband and I ate SO much (4 dishes and 2 desserts)! There is something for everyone on the menu.
emBargo is my go-to for drinks and apps in Hyannis. Live entertainment, great staff, big drinks, and great food.
I've designed two vacations to the Cape based around this place. Embargo is why we come out. It never disappoints. The food is always terrific, the staff is always patient, helpful and kind. And the drinks are always the best in the area.
I travel all over the country and try not to stop at the traditional commercialized places so i stopped off at the emBargo. The selection of martinis were amazing. Great food and atmosphere. Fast and friendly service in a great area. Come check them out if your in the area.
It's hard to find a place to begin to explain my experience here. I will start with my first impression. Who knew that there was a little piece of Miami on Main Street in Hyannis?!? That Miami vibe was the immediate first impression upon walking through the door. The look, the feel, the vibe it was all there! Moving onto the drinks and the amazing selection of Martini's. All of them were delicious, we had a party of 4 and we had several different ones between us. Topped the night off with the Oreo Martini and that was a very wise decision. The FOOD... First of all the list of toppas they offer is huge. Second of all the food was outstanding! We tried several options and doubled up on a few of them because they were so good! I wish I could've fit more in my stomach because there were so many other options that left my mouth watering. I will finish off with the service we received. The service was absolutely right on track with the food and the drinks. Our server Michelle was very knowledgeable of the menu, her personality was amazing, and she helped make the already great experience even better. So much so that at one point we asked to speak to a manager. I felt bad for a second because 99% of the time that means something is wrong but this was not the case. Come to find out she actually was a manager so we could've just talked to her but we wanted to pass on the good feedback higher up the chain. The person that came over to talk with us was the GM and he was in the middle of waiting tables himself. Let me say that right there speaks volumes for the restaurant. To have your upper management down in the trenches shows that they vue their team and they aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and do want needs to be done to have a successful night. We talked to the GM about our experience, our thoughts on the restaurant as a whole, and our amazing server. He was very thankful for us sharing that with him and it felt really good to be able to offer positive feedback in a business that you rarely get to hear the good things in. To close this out I will say if you are already on the Cape or are planning on going you should ABSOLUTELY make sure emBargo is on your list of places to go!
Menu was enormous but we made our way through. Wait staff was on point and personable. Atmosphere was great. If we come back to the Cape, definitely worth visiting again.
First dining experience at Embargo - AWESOME drinks and AWESOME tapas. There was live jazz which really made the evening. Shauna, our phenomenal waitress, went above and beyond with excellent service and impeccable recommendations. If her manager is reading this she definitely deserves a raise!
Small tapas and drinks 🍸 had fun on karaoke 🎤 🎶 night (9pm Tuesday's) enjoyed shrimp 🌮 stuffed mushrooms and crab cakes
The food here was ridiculously good. Like, really really really good. We ordered a wide variety of food (seared tuna, Cajun tuna, lamb lollipops, gazpacho, hummus, salmon crostini, stuffed mushrooms, and probably something else too) and none of it was anything short of excellent. Our server was very friendly and accommodating to our whims on what we wanted, and parking was easy too. Truly a superb experience!
What a fun place! The live band- Syndicate Cape Cod was incredible! The bartenders were super fun! Dancing the whole night!
Amazing drinks, Amazing Tapas dishes. Taste, Flavors ,Textures all absolutely delicious. Whenever we visit Hyannis this is our go to place!!! Highly recommend.
Really enjoyed our after dinner appetizers and drinks here. We visited in late October, off season, but still beautiful. The atmosphere and employees at emBargo were exceptional. Loved the pumpkin martini. Would highly recommend visiting here!
The food was great ! I went for dinner with five friends of mine and everybody enjoyed the food so much ! My favorite drink is red sangria and my favorite food is steamed mussels!
Delicious tapas and excellent drink selection. The food not only tasted great but looked beautiful as well. Very good live jazz played during dinner as well. Very nice atmosphere and ambiance.
Such a nice feeling upscale place....can't beat the happy hour and drinks are well made
Fun atmosphere, delicious “small plates” food with diverse menu offerings. Inconsistent cocktails (all were good, they were just mixed very differently from one drink to the next). We enjoyed “Drag Karaoke” with our host, Sandy Dunes. Highly recommend emBargo for a night out in Hyannis!
Amazing staff incredible owners dave and Marissa are dimonds in the rough food simply Amazing super talented chef love everything about the place you can do no better on main Street 😀 than EmBArGo...
Embargo has it all. They have entertainment almost every night of the week. The food is incredible! They serve amazing espresso martinis! And, their best asset is the staff who treat you like family!
First time here. Very good place to visit for food and drink. In theory, I didn't eat anything. The food looked excellent. Clientele seemed to be regulars. I agree, it's a louder than what I expected but not a big deal. It's a bar after all. Great bartenders.
Amazing Food! Flat bread was great! Clam chowder was so creamy. Server was GREAT! Hostess was super polite. We ate outside since it was quiet, and even though it was colder. Kyle S was our server, solid 5 stars!
This place was fabulous!! The food and service were so wonderful!! David was tending the bar..... there is not a better bartender or dealer in Vegas who can compare to his "working" the bar. I swear.... there were at least 30 people sitting at the bar and he took care of EVERYONE!! All smiles!! This restaurant is definitely worth the visit!! Oh.... the drinks were awesome!!
The food was great. I ordered the oysters long stemmed artichokes, and Brie Stuffed Dates. The artichokes were phenomenal. My friend ordered a flatbread. The crust was thin and just right crispy. The Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Martini was great.
We made a reservation, and we were so glad that we did because the restaurant was full and the only available seats were at the bar. We were warmly greeted by the hostess Nicky, and we asked if we could get a booth near the back, because the jazz group was excellent but too loud to carry on a conversation if near the band. John was our waiter and he was outstanding, and both he and Nicky came by to check on us throughout the meal. We had raspberry pomegranate margaritas, cider sangria, and rose wine by the glass. On Tuesday night they have half price on numerous tapas, and anything with a * after it is full price, so we were able to order several tapas at a 50% discount. We had the following tapas: -Baby lamb chops: it was $4.00 per lamb chop -Southern fried chicken biscuit- with glaze on the biscuit which was excellent! -Chicken lettuce wraps -Smoked salmon and cream cheese on toasts (the photo has two, but you get three, and we were so hungry that I tried to take photos before my friends started eating. -Short rib sliders -Pumpkin ravioli special: which was more of an entrée size and incredibly delicious! -Steak and mashed potatoes, with amazing flavor! -Grilled churrasco-style sirloin steak with sliced crispy onion rings, chimichurri sauce -Braised short ribs with la mancha sauce, cool tomato fresco and mashed potatoes -Happy Birthday Chocolate Cake There were three of us dining and with 9 tapas' ordered we left very full. John brought out a slice of an incredibly moist chocolate cake for our friend's birthday with a candle in it which was a nice touch. We enjoyed the meal so much, that we made a reservation at 7pm tonight, Wednesday, to come back and try some of our favorites and also experience some of the other items that we did not try. Wednesday is karaoke night so we are very much looking forward to the entertainment! Embargo has entertainment all year round, unlike other restaurants that are only seasonal. Thank you for a wonderful meal!
Great food and experience, definitely on the higher end, but worth it, and fun! We shared the Seafood Paella for 2 ($49), and it was a medium amount of food for each of us. It was tasty and chock full of seafood. To really feel full, you have to get a little something extra. They could also just put more rice in it to bulk it up. We also shared the ceviche ($15), which is also a reasonable/medium portion. Sooo tasty, with tajin along the rim of the oversized glass it’s served in. Atmosphere and service were upscale. The rest of the menu looked great. Generally a very enjoyable experience. I would definitely return.
Yesterday, I visited Embargo restaurant. We didn't have a reservation, but the hostess kindly offered us a table by the mirror. There was a great selection of food, and everything was simply delicious. I was especially surprised by the seafood ceviche. The espresso martini was wonderful, and I really enjoyed it. I highly recommend this place!
Embargo's server Kyle, provided such excellent service, I feel compelled to leave a review. He is familiar with the menu and recommended several dishes with enthusiasm. Pros- lobster served escargot style....yum! Pesto cod - oysters Rockefeller all delicious. And again, Kyle's service is second to none for these Manhattan/ London/Philly foodies. Cons- Truthfully, none. Can't wait to come back.
You need to check this place out for their Tuesday Oyster Happy Hour (4:30–6pm) and all-day half-price tapas. The oysters? Absolute standouts. But don’t stop there. The hot and cold tapas menu is stacked, and the portions are surprisingly generous for happy hour. We tried a variety and honestly didn’t hit a single miss. The wagyu sliders might’ve stolen the show, though—they’re rich, juicy, and just the right size to make you wish you ordered more. Great vibe, great value. We’ll definitely be back.
Went on a Saturday night. They were busy and we didn't have reservations but we were still able to be seated. Definitely recommend reservations if you can. Food was excellent. The BBQ sliders were delicious and so were the soba noodles. The tempura veggies weren't what we were expecting but were still very tasty. Highly recommend!
Loved this place. Overall not traditional Spanish tapas. Some options that you would see on a traditional tapas menu but limited in that regard -- tons of other options that were small plates of more American dishes. Expansive and interesting choices. I thought the food was excellent and varied. As often the case, multiple small plates add up to big dollars, though.
After having a crappy experience down the street at Torino we came here looking for a good time. They did NOT disappoint! Bouncers are very kind and personable. Music was great! Lots of throwbacks and bar staff was awesome. Food smelled amazing! Wish we got around to trying some. We will always recommend this place for a good time.
We had tapas and drinks and everything was interesting and tasted excellent. Atmosphere good for conversation and service was attentive and helpful. Thanks for a great experience.
Amazing staff, hardworking and good attitude. Bartenders and wait staff work hard and provide best service. Atmosphere is top notch.
What a fantastic spot! The menu is wonderfully eclectic, offering something for everyone. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is vibrant and lively. After 10 PM, the space transforms into a lounge with great music played by local DJs, creating the perfect late-night vibe
John was awesome and super attentive to a group of twenty one year olds which is far and few in this industry. Very appreciative of his service! Deserves a huge raise! He even got my friend strawberry lemonade even though they only offer regular lemonade!
Food is very good, service was excellent.
EmBargo in Hyannis is a fantastic spot for a lively night out. The small plates are creative and flavorful, perfect for sharing with friends, and the cocktails — especially the martinis — are top-notch. The atmosphere is energetic and fun, with friendly staff that make the experience even better. It can get busy and a bit noisy on weekends, but that’s part of its charm. Highly recommend for a night of good food, great drinks, and a vibrant vibe!
We stopped in for tapas prior to a show at the Melody tent. We had made a reservation and were seated as soon as we arrived. It has a nice atmosphere and wasn't too loud so holding a conversation was easy. Our waiter was very prompt in taking our orders after explaining how the 1/2 price tapas were listed on the menu and ran to 6pm. We all ordered a few tapas and oysters along with beers. I personally felt my bottled beer wasn't chilled enough. It became luke warm rather quickly. Our food came out very quickly which is fine, however the table became very crowded with all the plates. Maybe the waiter could ask how quickly the diner would like the dishes to come out as it is so fast that one dish gets cold while you are eating the other. The dishes were all very good overall. On the pricey side even with the 1/2 price tapas.
To start, this place has a great extensive menu. A bit on the pricier side, but options from tapas to tacos and flat breads. Look forward to weekly events like karaoke and live music, with disco lights after 9. Atmosphere is pretty lacking- could use redecorating, but again, the party lights are fun!
Fun vibe! Martinis were strong but yummy! Love the variety. I wished they didnt play alot of EDM
A good spot if you’re looking for summer night out vibes. The food was okay. I asked the waitress about the paella and she highly recommended it. It’s listed as a paella for 2 but it’s not that great of a portion. The flavor was great but the rice was very undercooked.
The lamb Lollipops were good but were chewy and have loads of fat on the meal. I tried the waffle and chicken and it was really good. The service was good. When the food got to my table, it looked amazing but, it wasn’t really too too good. The 3 layer chocolate cake was good but I’ve had better!
Bad service. I ordered a bottle of wine. Waiter never came to pour more wine in my glass as you could expect in a restaurant. Did some small talk with all orher guests as they were couples. Maybe they are not used to serve solo female guests? Pushed me actually to go away by bringing me the check without asking. Very loud and not good vibes inside hence i stayed outside despite the chilly temperatures. Would rather go elsewhere during my stay in Hyannis
Definitely not a fan of this place or the service. First time we went, we used a Groupon to try it out. Immediately after presenting the Groupon, the service went down hill. Non attentive wait staff and "FELT" we were tucked away into a side room because we didn't fit the profile of whom should be dining at that establishment (my wife and I are an interracial couple). Not saying this was the case, but it sure did feel like that. We ordered the Tapas, and thought they were undercooked, so of course we got an attitude when asked for it to be cooked a bit more. We received it back overcooked and tossed onto the plate. We had had enough. Paid for what we ordered and left. I tried them again about 7 years later and this time I left with a stomach ache and was on the toilet the entire next day. Once again was it them??? Well needless to say, I will not be returning. It is very rare that I give less than good reviews, but do think it is warranted, and sure I am not the only one who feels this way. The reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is due to the fact I was not completely sure if this was directed at us or we simply felt that way. We have dined out at many places and felt like paying customers, and some like royalty, here it felt like we were a burden and a bother. Trust your gut.
Disappointing Experience - Hostess's Unprofessional Behavior Ruined Our Visit I recently visited this restaurant with a party of four adults to celebrate a special occasion, and unfortunately, it turned out to be a deeply disappointing experience. Our server was friendly and attentive, though it was clear that the restaurant was a bit disorganized, leading to slow service and poorly timed dishes. We didn’t mind much at first, as we were enjoying ourselves and the ambiance, but things quickly took a turn for the worse. We ordered a variety of cold and hot tapas, followed by entrees. While the dishes were spaced out a bit unevenly, with our individual entrees arriving about twenty minutes apart, we remained in good spirits and weren't overly concerned. However, after finishing our meal and waiting for the waiter to offer us dessert, we were abruptly approached by the hostess—later identified as Nikki, the owner's mother. With an unexpectedly hostile tone, Nikki informed us that we had been at the table for over two hours and that we needed to leave to make space for other guests. This was communicated in a way that made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. While the manager came over to address the situation and our server offered a sincere apology on Nikki's behalf, the experience was already soured. To make matters worse, as we were leaving, Nikki made another snarky remark, further suggesting that we had somehow done something wrong. As a business owner myself, I find it hard to understand how such unprofessional behavior would be tolerated. Unfortunately, it seems that the owner of this establishment has allowed their mother’s attitude to alienate patrons, which is not only uncalled for but also damaging to the restaurant’s reputation. It’s also worth noting that we’ve heard this behavior is not a one-time incident and that Nikki is reportedly known for this and for treating the staff poorly as well. While the food and service from our waiter were acceptable, the hostess’s treatment was so off-putting that it overshadowed the rest of the experience. I won’t be returning, and I would caution others who are seeking a more welcoming and professional dining environment.
Security guards were aggressive, didn’t let our black friends in because they wore a hat, racist.. go to the irish pub down the street if you actually want a good time.
Just a weird spot, as we walked up we were given a lot of attitude about our outfits and what we were wearing. We were turned away, but we went down the road to an amazing Irish pub that had a great atmosphere, great service and an ever better owner. Embargo, disappointing, security guards were so rude and unprofessional.
This place is a complete joke. They check your ID but don’t tell you there are reservations, leaving you standing at the counter like an idiot, staring at a stupid “Wait to be seated” sign. Not a single person greeted me, so I just went to sit down. If you’re checking in multiple people at once, maybe use your brain instead of embarrassing customers. I went out on Valentine’s Day and was treated like a nuisance. Only after I said I was leaving did they casually mention a 15-minute wait and that I could sit at the bar. Totally absurd. This restaurant clearly cares more about rushing people and making money than actually running a service properly. I wish I could give this place zero stars.
