Very cute place. Great matcha! Yummy pastries.
Twice I've come for solid drip coffee and have been satisfied. Stumptown beans are nice, they carry a medium roast at one size fits all for your ounces. The owners are very kind and obviously caring and hard working. I was pleased to know they make their baked goods from scratch, though skeptical at the price point at first --$6 for a cinnamon roll or bun. I must say, I'll swallow my frugality for them, the Blood Orange Lemon glazed roll I bought today was DELICIOUS and GORGEOUS, pairing perfectly with my black coffee. Pay for local, pay for homemade, pay for the care you receive. Thanks y'all, I got my coffee and pastry needs met and exceeded.
this work place is so awesome sauce and the best cafe in idyllwild, they are very very carying towards the students here and everyone that comes, their food and drinks are really good! go to alpaca!!!!
This is THE Best spot for coffee in Idyllwild, great service amazing coffee I have lived here for a year and refuse to go to any other coffee shop in town. People who claim poor service probably are not happy/nice people…
Amazing breakfast spot! Truly loved everything about it. Food, staff, ambiance…all perfect!
My husband and I went to this coffee shop for much wanted coffee. We both got the Nutella latte and my husband also got a chamomile tea. The Nutella latte was good, just wished it would’ve been whisked with the coffee and milk. Since all the Nutella was at the bottom. So we both had the Nutella after we finished our drink. It is pricey too but most trendy coffee shops are. This just happens to make good coffee. I don’t recommend you come here if you’re in a hurry though. It did take a while since there was only one person taking orders and making the drinks.
We heard this was the best coffee spot in Idyllwild, and we’re so glad we stopped by! I had the iced matcha latte (unsweetened with almond milk), and it was the best I’ve had since coming back from Japan—super impressive. My boyfriend got the iced Nutella latte and gave it a 7/10—good, but he’d try something different next time. Great service. Definitely worth a visit after a hike, and the outdoor seating is a great bonus, especially if you have a dog with you.
As a local of many years, I can say this is the only coffeeshop you should go to in Idyllwild! The house drip and espresso are consistently flavorful and better than anything you'll get in town. The Thai iced tea, matcha, and Nutella lattes are incredible. Don't sleep on the cold foam top! So many other options on the menu too! Never skip an Alpaca visit when you're in Idy. Great atmosphere and the friendliest baristas you've ever met! Locals know, it's THE café on the mountain!
Amazing coffee. Ordered the spanish latte and it was delicious, slightly sweet rich smooth coffee, would highly recommend. Husband had the mocha latte which was also delicious, lightly sweet with a good flavor of real dark chocolate. Any time we go to Idyllwild we will stop. A bit hard to see but it's right next to the cafe. Stop and give these people your business, you will be happy you did.
Spacious and delicious! Very accommodating when I needed to work from a laptop for a few hours. Wonderful staff. Made me a vegetarian burger on request and thought to ask about dairy components in the sauce. Even though it didn't matter to me, it shows attention to detail. All the fruit sides were super fresh and yummy!
Every time we are in town we love stopping by Alpaca Coffee. Owner and crew are so sweet and kind and the coffee is FANTASTIC!
We went to visit , the Matcha was amazing and they had excellent service! They were very kind and everything looked cozy! Definitely recommend going.
This place is legit good! I got a Spanish latte and then went back to get a Cortado. Both were so delicious! The barista was nice and the the service was fast!
Alpaca Coffee & Tea is a charming little coffee shop attached to a restaurant next door. My partner got a hot drip coffee and I just had a black cold brew, but we both really enjoyed our coffees, so much so that I forgot to take an obligatory photo of the adorable alpaca sign, so I am attaching a photo I found from Google (it is not mine and I do not take credit for it, just want people to see the cute sign!!).
This is the best coffee i have ever had in my entire life. The guy with the pony tail has the best customer service I highly recommend coming here. Definitely the best coffee on the hill
I stopped here while on a bike tour to treat myself to a nice breakfast and coffee. *edit* -breakfast’s- *edit* -coffee’s- I was really impressed and that’s coming from a specialty coffee shop barista! This cafe definitely beat all the coffee I had in Palm Springs which was truly shocking. The barista was nice and sociable while they made my drink and I enjoyed the family atmosphere of the shared space while I charged up my electronics. Dear barista who is “still working on their latte art”.. Give yourself a break! All of the cafes I went to didn’t do latte art which was a huge let down because I’m not a huge fan of (dry) steamed milk. Your latte art was amazing! Great little place. Keep it up!
This is a fantastic little cafe that perfectly fits the vibe of Idyllwild. The baristas did a great job making our drinks. A great place to either grab a treat and go, or stay a while and read a book. I particularly enjoyed my strawberry matcha latte and the lavender milk tea boba. Yes I ordered two drinks - that's how good it was!
We had a nice early morning coffee here on Sunday. Lots of seating and it was very nice to sit outside. Our cappuccino and flat white were ready quickly. They have a few interesting products for sale in the coffee shop.
Raven & Jason are so friendly & sweet! We came in on a rainy, early fall day and the atmosphere was just perfect — especially with a pumpkin dirty chai
+5 stars Ordered the Nutella & Honey Lavender Latte and both were excellent! Nice and cozy coffee shop with out door seating. It’s connected to Mile High Cafe which also has awesome food. Will definitely be coming back.
We recently checked out **Alpaca Coffee and Tea** after a recommendation from one of my husband's student friends—and wow, we’re glad we did! ☕🧋 The drinks were honestly so good. You can tell they put care into what they serve. The person at the counter—who might be the owner—was super kind and friendly, which made the experience even better. It's always nice when you feel genuinely welcomed. 💛 Definitely a must-try spot if you’re in the area. We’ll be back for sure!
All syrups made in house! They make the lavender honey syrup from scratch, all the way from the lavender flower (not positive if they also have honey bees though 🤭). I'm super picky about my lavender in coffee and will only drink it if it's made in house. The honey to lavender ratio was a little high for my taste, but I'm a bit of a lavender addict, and I asked for extra lavender, so my judgment is a little off today, but I guarantee you this is 1000x better than any of that Torani baloney you've had.
They have an amazing Lavender London Fog! They sell lovely postcards and yuzu canned drinks as well!
The best place to go for coffee & tea! If I lived closer I would go everyday. Matcha and the dirty chai latte are my favorites. I recommend this shop to everyone when they are stopping in Idyllwild.
If you love matcha, don’t miss Alpaca!!! They were extremely nice and thoughtful! There were people behind us who had already had their order down, so we let them go ahead of us since it was our first time and was still deciding our order. The cashier noticed and gave us a free cookie for being thoughtful! The cashier also seemed very nice, and full of energy, which can be hard to find nowadays in cashiers. The drinks were authentic matcha which is a huge green flag for me and my daughter. We always try to search for good authentic matcha’s in our area which is always so incredibly hard. Definitely going again when I have the chance!
Cute place. Food is really good and has great portion sizes. Just know the bakery and coffee shop are separate. If you want a custom coffee, you had to order and pay at the opposite side of the restaurant. The customer service is always great. I recommend it to everyone. It's great to go for a drive and hike nearby and end the day with a meal here and coffee.
So refreshing to go to a cafe that has actual ceremonial grade matcha and prepares it right!!!! Like look at the color of my matcha. I almost cried looking at it. The strawberry one was amazing & so was the banana! My boyfriend ordered his own strawberry matcha two days in a row and all he does is tell me how bad my matcha tastes when I get it everywhere else - so congrats on fixing him. My friend also had a dirty chai and it was so good; plus they had a good selection of protein and granola bars in case you need some last minute fuel before going to the nearby trails.
Alpaca Coffee in Idyllwild is the best! Sophisticated coffees and tea (including boba teas!) and delicious food! The Thai boba tea is a favorite of mine!
Cute. Cozy. Delicious. And great coffee. Can't ask for more. Staff were super friendly, and the food was great. So good we came back a 2nd time at the end of our trip. We enjoyed it more than and other places in town. Meat and Eggs, California Omelette, and breakfast burrito can all be recommended The Spanish Latte is also fantastic. Just the right amount of sweetness. Simple latte was also great
Oh my gosh, I guess the little food spot this is connected to was closed for the day and the one barista on site had her hands FULL but she was so graceful and so gracious. And made some amazing drinks with lots of love. My interest is piqued about the food menu here. Got the chagaccino and a hot tea and a ginger shot. Oh and the bathroom was 😙🤌🏽💥

Alpaca Coffee is hands-down my favorite coffee spot in Idyllwild. There are plenty of great cafés in town, but this one stands out in the best way. It’s tucked just a little outside the main center, which gives it this cozy, exclusive feel, like you’ve discovered a local gem. The staff are always super kind, charming, and genuinely friendly, which makes every visit feel personal. The vibe is laid-back, the coffee is excellent, and it’s the kind of place you actually look forward to stopping by. Highly recommend to anyone, local or just passing through!
The best mocha coffee ever! Made from real chocolate and the taste is absolutely delicious. If you are traveling through Idyllwild you will want to stop here and grab a cup.
We came in with a big order of hot drinks, and the barista with blonde hair handled everything perfectly! He was super kind, patient, and kept everything organized without missing a beat. All of our drinks came out just right, and the service really made the experience stand out. Definitely recommend Alpaca Coffee & Tea—not only is the coffee great, but the customer service is top-notch!
This place has been such a nice stop while I've been staying in town! The service is wonderful, their drinks are amazing (especially the Nutella latte), and their variety of local snacks really hit the spot.
As an Idyllwild local, I love Alpaca! Delicious drinks and warm cozy atmosphere. They also hosted an after hours event for my company and it was an absolute blast. Management is friendly and great to work with :)
Absolutely delicious, had a strawberry matcha and lavender London fog. Service was lovely, and they had all sorts of cute little snacks and products.

THIS PLACE AL-PACKs A PUNCH! Alpaca is simply delightful, they are known in the community for their speciality coffee, tea and boba drinks! I had the pleasure of enjoying their Spanish Latte which came highly recommended. I loved it, I ordered it with oat milk and it had the perfect sweetness! Definitely would order it again! I wish Alpaca had more drink sizes, all of them are pretty tiny. So you're paying 6.50+ for a small drink. Thankfully, everything tasted good but I was really looking for something a bit bigger. The shop itself is cute and has a fun, sunny atmosphere. There's very limited space and hardly any tables inside. If you're looking to hang out, they have an outdoor patio with some shade. Service was pretty good, this is a Korean-owned business which makes me so happy as I love to see more diverse businesses join Idyllwild!

coffee was good. nothing earth shattering. service was friendly and efficient. not really great bang for your buck, but nice to have another option on the hill. 16 oz almond milk latte,$7, shoulder shrug

I tried the Nutella iced coffee and unfortunately it does not mix right. The Nutella was mostly stuck on the bottom so you basically get iced coffee with random chunks of Nutella coming through the straw at random. It was drinkable but not executed well.
the coffee is good but they have to be taking the employees out back and beating them or something because HOW can you be that miserable working at a coffee shop? The workers act like they despise you. “Thanks for my drink” gets you a side eye and them walking away without a word. I guess it doesn’t matter in the end but it definitely sours the experience
Regular drip coffee was burnt and had a bitter taste. Was not worth the stop. The shop was small and is connected to the mile high cafe. Both are different places though.
For anybody who loves matcha, avoid ordering its grotesque filthy tasting green substance. I refuse to call it matcha. It is a menace to society. Everything else was amazing, everyone should order the sugar croissants with the chai latte. Amazing! BUT the drinks are overpriced for its portion. 21 DOLLARS FOR TWO DRINKS! You can find at eagle brew enjoying my real matcha.
We ordered two Hazelnut Latte, the coffee was as watered down as the employee's motivation and friendliness. Honestly we have not gotten such an overpriced (pricier than starbucks) and low quality coffee drink in a long time. Not recommend
