Best Shanghainese food in the area. If your like me and love Shanghainese food, you can’t go wrong here. The pan friend buns are a must.
Food taste delicious and ready within 10 minutes after ordering. There are varieties of dishes, rice, noodles and etc. This is a Shanghai style restaurant. Good price and fast service. $$
The food here is really good. We've ordered takeout a few times and can't seem to get enough. We usually get the chicken and shrimp chowmein with grilled pork buns. There was more than enough food for two and we still had leftovers. Definitely a good spot to go to for dinner.
Tons of free parking, easy to find. Food and teas are delicious! They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from and everything was great. The hot and sour soup is definitely more hot than sour, but still flavorful. Onion pancake was probably the best I've ever had, perfectly crispy and flaky. Xiao long bao was super juicy and flavorful. Veggie fried rice was one of my favorites, chow mein could use less oil. Don't expect any frills with the servers, they are there to write your order down and get your items out only. They're not rude though, just very direct/efficient, which I can appreciate. Will def be back
Located in the same shopping center off of Culver Drive with their sister location, Tasty Garden. This authentic Chinese restaurant serves delicious noodle dishes. The string beans with eggplant was a great choice! I recommend menu number 42. Beef Brisket Noodle Soup / Lo Mein. Savory noodle dishes with soft beef brisket chunks, carrots and potatoes. The pineapple fried rice was another great option. Our favorite item was the number 11 grilled pork dumplings.
I've been coming here for many years. Best soup dumplings (#14), ever. Onion pancakes are the bomb.
If you're looking for authentic Shanghai-style cuisine, Tasty Noodles House is definitely worth a visit. The restaurant has a small and cozy atmosphere, with a street-style feel that adds to the overall experience. One of the highlights of the menu is the wonton soup, which has a bone broth soup base with white pepper flavoring. The soup is delicious and savory, making it a great option for those who love hot and flavorful soups. The vegetable chowmein and garlic eggplant without meat are also excellent choices. Both dishes are full of flavor and are cooked to perfection. The vegetables are fresh and perfectly seasoned, making them a great option for vegetarians. The chive pork dumplings are freshly handmade and are a must-try item on the menu. The pork and chive steamed dumplings are particularly delicious and are sure to satisfy any dumpling lover's cravings. Overall, Tasty Noodles House is a clean and affordable restaurant that offers authentic Shanghai-style cuisine. The restaurant is frequented by older Asians, which is a testament to its authenticity. While the food can be off at times, it is usually pretty good, and the relaxed dining experience during weekdays is definitely worth checking out.
Tasty place. The dumplings are good. Nothing is fancy, but everything is pretty delicious. We had crab noodles which were ok, but the wonton soup was the highlight for soups as it had a bone broth soup base with white pepper flavoring. The fried fosh, string beans, and fried rice were decent. I would recommend this restaurant.
Portions are big so for 15-17$ you can have leftovers. And they help to pack the rest of your dish to go. In the picture 2 dishes - chicken fried rice and combo fried rice so you can see that the rice looks and tastes differently so that is a little bit of confusion. But there's a good correlation between price and quality.

I love this place because they had really good noodles. It smells spicy and pungent inside. My experience was good eating here. Wonton soup and ginger scallion beef were ordered. I would love to try the back pepper chow mein next. If you're looking for spice, this is an excellent go to.
The Dan Dan noodles and pork buns are out of this world! I used to travel to Shanghai often and this place rivals some of the best Shanghai restaurants.
Loved the House Sauce Noodles with Pork (9/10), Beef Brisket Noodle Soup (6/10), Shanghai Xiao Long Bao (7/10).
Fantastic supper. Excellent service and the best orange chicken I’ve ever had. 10/10.
Spicy chickwn noodle chow mein was tasty. Unless you love spicy, medium spice is more than enough. I got real spicy and it was 🔥
Very good food and service! :)
Excellent Food, give 30 min. for order of Shanghai Pork Bun. Worth the wait!
The hot and sour soup is exceptional. I also like their fried rice.
This is a great place to get Chinese food and the have a good selection of vegetarian dishes as well. They're also open with limited seating for dine in now as well.
As a connoisseur of handmade dumplings. I think this is best place for freshly handmade dumplings in Irvine. Their pork and chive steamed dumplings are my favorite. One bite of chive pork dumpling, you will experience heaven, there God will greet you "Ni hao ma? Wo de haizi". (Dip them in vinegar, add a bit of hot sauce if you like) Go there early, during late lunch hours sometimes they run out of stuffing. Grilled pork bun is popular but, I eat them after about three hours to have flavor infuse to all parts of the bun. Many of the customers are gray-haired and speaks the language of origin of dumplings. That is a good sign. Kitchen staff and wait staff are shouting like they are having arguments but, assure you they are not. 😁😁 That is also a good sign. Wish they serve beer (Tsingtao) and sliced pig ears. Also, if possible, seaweed egg flower dumpling(tiny) soup. Can't travel to China due to a Pandemic, this is the best alternative to eating dumplings in east coast cities of China. Their noodle dishes are very good as well. Go there during weekdays for a relaxed dining experience, the weekend is busy. Don’t forget to ask for hot tea(free) and enjoy with dumplings, take your time, enjoy life!
Best Shanghainese dim sum in OC and LA. Totally beats most restaurants in San Gabriel Valley. Their pan fried pork buns are the most authentic you can find in the area. Servers speak English and are very friendly. May be the service has improved since some of the negative reviews two years ago. I love this place!!!
Best noodle house! Not all suits my taste, but I keep going back to its 牛腩拌面🍜 and recently I added 牛腩汤面🍜to my lunch. Eating half portion of each for lunch. And, take home the 2nd half for dinner or for snack in late afternoon or for midnight.
Great food and excellent dumplings. Every time I go I get the stinky tofu (the waitresses warned me several times of its stinkiness the first time) and the xaio long bao. The service is pretty good, you just have to not be shy about getting the server's attention. Food comes out one plate at a time.
We ordered vegetable chowmein and garlic eggplant without meat. It was delicious. The feel was street style in this small restaurant. Absolutely loved it.
The best dumplings period. Top level Chinese food that is really hard to order something bad... Never happened so far after 8 years. I would recommend this restaurant.
Really good pan fried buns and noodles
The food was amazing 🤩 The staff were wonderful and helpful even though we went during the lunch rush. The soup dumplings and the Shanghai buns were delicious.
Everything we've eaten here was good. Our favorite is the Shanghai Grilled Pork Buns.
Really good food. Wonderful flavoring. Absurdly quick. Feels like an Irvine hole in the wall. The noodles are good.
We originally were regulars of tasty noodle in cerritos and loved it. I think this one is the original and just as good
So yummy , I went for lunch . They were super busy but still quick . Green beans stir fry ❤️👌🏻 Wonton soup. I can't wait to go back to try something else !
I come here often for their pan-fried buns. I tried quite a lot of their dishes, XLB, noodles, fried pork chops, etc. Overall it's quite a good place for shanghaiese food with fair prices.
You see "Tasty Noodle House" and think yeah, that's what they all say. But for this place, the name is totally accurate! Everything except the crispy fish is in a delicious sauce, so just dip the fish in the sauce of another dish, and it's perfect. Lots of families, friendly staff and joyful atmosphere. In Philly, we'd have to go to Chinatown for this authenticity.
Food was very tasty. Good portions and prices are low compared to other noodle shops.
There are many idiots rating this place low for no reason. The foods were all very flavorful and delicious. The waitresses were all very friendly and kind. We ordered the braised pork belly with the preserved vegetables, eggplant and beef, as well as the Kung Pao chicken. I recommend every one of them, they were all great.
I just had the Kung pao noodle soup. It was so unexpectedly delicious. I love things a little sweet. It has the perfect amount of sweetness, spiciest, vegetables and a fabulous broth. The staff are so friendly, they even offered to add broth so I could take home the remaining of my noodles. I love this place. I’m going to bring, my son here for sure. He loves Asian noodles!
Amazing Chinese food. Came here around 5:30pm and within a few minutes the entire place was packed. The flavor of the dumplings are different than what I am use to but, not going to say its not 5 stars because the wrapper around the dumplings were so well made. The fried fish with the green stuff inside also really good.
We ordered Shanghai style stir-fried noodles and Shanghai style pan-fried pork buns. I highly recommended these two dishes. Both of them taste super good. My husband and I really enjoyed the authentic tastes of Shanghai cuisine. Dish portion is big and price is reasonable.
The place is small and clean. Shrimp noodle soup was steaming hot just the way I like it. It was plain, but spices are on the table for ones own taste. Waitress was friendly. What more can I ask for a quick meal. Next time I will try the dumplings. Looking forward to another day.
Salacious and exciting Shanghai cuisine from the upper eastern part of mainland China that features vegetable pickles and steamed dumplings. Not quite the same familiar Chinese food that we all tasted, but surely departs from day-to-day boredom. Clean place with decently affordable prices.

I’ve dined at this location multiple times and have noticed the food quality continues to improve. They serve truly authentic Shanghai cuisine with a focus on balanced, subtle flavors that linger long after the meal. My personal favorite is the Sheng Jian Bao (pan-fried dumplings); they have that perfect golden, crunchy bottom and a satisfying burst of hot soup inside. Service is efficient and practical—this isn't a place for frills, but it's the perfect spot to sit down and enjoy a high-quality, honest meal.
Food and service was excellent and price is low. Staff was very friendly and provided great service. The only downside is the wait but the good deal explains why so many people like it.
Excellent. Their quality and portion has improved drastically. They’ve always been pretty good but now the food is exceptional.

Overall good Shanghainese restaurant. Portions are quite big and well worth the price - dishes are yummy but not exceptional. First, for the Shanghai grilled pork buns (sheng jian bao), it is written on the menu that there are 6, but they actually serve 8. They are good, but not exceptional. Solid among of juice and flavor, but kind of doughy. Still recommend though. Next, for the Shanghai grilled beef bun, they are also quite good. The braised noodles with onion sauce is delicious, but it definitely is quite greasy - you can’t taste the grease, but it is quite visible on your plate afterwards. Sauce is delicious though, full of onion flavor and not too salty. Still recommend trying though.
Excellent grilled pork buns and pork +chive dumplings. Soup dumplings were solid but could be more soupy. Excellent appetizers: woodear mushroom (black fungus on menu) with mustard sauce, kao fu, shredded tofu and cilantro, and spicy marinated mix. Cucumber and garlic salad was also good, but could have been less 'wet' by letting the cucumbers sit longer with salt. Will be back to try some noodle soups and entrees.
Huge portions to share, chow mein light and not greasy, mapo tofu flavorful and not too numbing. Big big menu, excited to come back and try some other items. Tight seating
Finally found a good restaurant with homemade vegetarian dumplings and noodles. Came here with my young son and he ate the entire 10 pork dumplings himself while I enjoyed the vegetarian dumplings. Wow, he was hungry & so full at the end of our lunch. I must say the best vegetarian dumplings are at Din Tai Fung. The vegetable noodles are tasty and would order these dishes again. There aren't many Chinese restaurants that serve vegetarian dumplings so this is a plus. Restaurant is small so come early or later and definitely come hungry! Service was fine.

Dumplings (fried) are nice as we alway order it. Other dishes also make us feel like we were in Taiwan.
We ordered one noodle soup bowl for 2 people and it was too much for us. We liked the pan fried bun, steamed baos were just steamed, wish there was a sauce that goes well with their menu.
I don't understand the previous post. I was seated with speed and got great service at lunch time. I am not Chinese or Asian. As for the food, the Vegetarian Duck is the best I have ever had. The Spicy Soup Noodle with Prawns is spectacular. I also tried the Shanghai Dumplings (Xaio Long Bao.) The Dumplings were pretty darn good. Though the best in Orange County can be had at Shanghai 3.6.9. off of Euclid in Anaheim. All in all if you are near this restaurant go there, it's good authentic Chinese food. I'll be going back for sure.
Love this place but the food is a tiny bit bland...needs more salt in certain dishes. But the menu is authentic and the food definitely represents. The fish in fermented rice wine is savory, a little spicy, a little sweet, very fragrant, a little garlicky, and pretty addictive! Will be back to try other stuff!
Delicious food? Undoubtedly. But a little annoyed with getting things we didn’t ask for. Pro Tip - if you have exclusively English speaking customers, it might be best to have a waiter/waitress that speaks English proficiently. Now, that’s not to say our waitress wasn’t nice, but she asked whether we wanted ice water or hot tea and we said water. She proceeded to bring us hot tea but I didn’t have the heart to be mean, it’s a small mistake. However, we asked a question about whether she recommended one soup over the other and she thought we were asking the difference (which is still fine) but we just decided to go with one of them. She then proceeded to bring us both options even though we made no indication that we wanted both. So we ended up with extra food that we couldn’t really handle eating and spending more than we intended.
Food is very good! We make it our go-to restaurant at least once a week. The only caveat is when you pay your bill via CC. I got charged twice, same day. They charged for the food bill and then charged again for the food bill with tip. So check your CC statements. Don't know if it's a glitch in their POS system.
We ordered pineapple fried rice, pork belly, and beef noodle. Everything was amazing except for the rice. I'd come back to taste what other things they have!!!
Cute space, and service is good. Food portions are GREAT for the price but the flavors are fine honestly. I personally felt like everything was too greasy but I still enjoyed the meal. I got the mixed vegetable chow mein, green onion pancakes, and pork dumplings.
This place is not bad. My kids love their pumpkin pie. You don't have to wait for a long time to be seated. For me, I like the braised pork belly and noodles with soy bean pastry. Good taste. My daughters liked their strawberry smoothies very much. That's my recommendation as well. Overall, this is a good place for Friday dinner with your family.
One of the better Chinese places in Irvine. Large portions and can be split with many people. The cold chicken appetizer was very good. The wonton broth was a little watery. I liked most, if not all of the pork dishes. Small restaurant with a lean staff, usually only 1 or 2 servers.
4.5, I have a few favorites that I get from this restaurant. Shanghai grilled buns is one of my favorite dishes there, takes a while to cook them, but we’ll worth the wait. If you’re getting take out, eat one or two as soon as you get them, otherwise by the time you get home or work they won’t taste the same (very hot if just made and has some soup in the bun, don’t burn your mouth!)

A bit pricey for what you get. The Shanghai stir fry rice cake is very yummy. Would have ordered a dish suitable for rice but a single bowl of rice is $3, which is unacceptable to me, so I had to skip. It's not at all competitive considering the competition. Regardless, if price is not an issue, by all means, order up. It's yummy food.

Eggplants here are either not bad or bad. Chew and spit is not good. Not sure who orders their vegetables. They should find a better vegetable supplier. Also who ever makes the house sauce needs to have better quality control over it. Sauce is always different here. Today was really strong, dark and bad. Eggplants also arrived undercooked when I asked for them to be cooked thoroughly.
Good comfort food. I love the fried pork buns. That's definitely the most notable item on the menu. The wait can get daunting on popular nights.
Food is good but treatment is not the same for Chinese and non-Chinese people.
The moment you step inside, you'll get a free nose workout because the place doesn't smell great. Pro tip: just order pickup if you're planning to eat from here. Food is good. The grilled pork bun is recommended.
Great noodles and dim sums. I like the seafood noodle there. The only negative thing about this place is that their fried rice is not well cooked. The other day I took my toddler there and ordered the fried rice, and my little one refused to eat. I did not know it was not well cooked until I tried it myself. Otherwise this is a good place to go. The flavor is good and not too greasy compared to some other types of Chinese food.
Authentic Shanghainese food. Dishes had good flavor. Served family style, with each dish served fresh from the kitchen. Excellent Xiao long bao. House curry chicken noodle soup and string bean with house sauce also recommended.
Food is good. Price is ok. Sitting is tight. Service could be better, I always feel pressured to leave a tip whenever I go there.
When I arrived to place my order, the hostesses seemed pretty impatient. I ordered the chicken chow mein and the pork bao. They said it would be finished in about 15-20 minutes. When I returned to receive my order, the hostess was screaming back into the kitchen at the chef, and I felt completely awkward being there. I felt it was completely inappropriate. But then my order wasn't ready on top of that. I went back outside to wait for an additional 15 minutes, and turns out my order was sitting on the table next to the cash register just waiting. When I got home, the chicken chow mein tasted adequate, but the chicken was dry. Pork bao on the other hand was pretty good. But I'm sure it would be better more fresh. It's good food, but I feel their interaction with customers needs improvement. I felt, in my opinion, that I was bothering them to order food, and I mostly felt incredibly uncomfortable being in the midst of their yelling and screaming at one another. I don't know if I'll return. I feel I could find better service elsewhere.
We came here for early dinner and was able to avoid the crowd. We were seated fairly quickly. We ordered 5 items and all came out quickly except for the pan fried meat buns. Unfortunately the food was nothing spectacular. The garlic pork and the noodles were overly sweet. The basil fish tasted extremely salty and the garlic cucumbers were watery. The only thing that was good were the buns. I really wanted to like the place but it just didn't live to my expectations.
Before we moved to Irvine, CA, we went to Tasty Noodle House in San Diego. It's very Impressive , delicious and my kids love it. After moving to Irvine, we went to 2 locations in Chino Hills and Irvine. Very disappointed. Why not follow the standard in San Diego? We ordered the following items in Irvine. Spicy Marinated Mix(麻辣滷三拼) Comment: This is the appetizer. We would expect it tastes good. Shanghai Style Chow Mein(特色上海炒(細/粗)麵) Comment: This is just OK. Not impressive. Shanghai Grilled Pork Bun 8 Pcs(上海生煎包) Comment: No soup inside. The skin is thick. Does not taste the one in San Diego. Shanghai Xiao Long Bao W/ Pork 8pcs(上海小籠包) Comment: My kids said why there is no soup inside and it's thick. Maybe it's overheated? My daughter did not want to eat anymore because it's the bad taste. I had the same taste. Very frustrated and disappointed. Since we tried this one and felt very disappointed, we will not go back definitely.
I ordered fried pineapple shrimp rice and what I got was steam rice with no flavor no color no spices no nothing! 3pc shrimp and some little cubes of pineapple from a can!!!👎
I do not understand their taste on all food. Too much sugar...and not spicy at all. Peoples were super kind and busy but the food....hum...not my style.
Maybe I ordered the wrong things here. I was very disappointed with the chicken noodles. I feel I received less and an oz of chicken in my noodles and they didn't taste all that great ether. The side of white rice was more satisfying than the main course.
No whites allowed! Sound racist? It is. I live right by the Culver plaza and have waited for this noodle house to open. To my surprise, both times I went here, no body waited on me. Despite making obvious gestures and eye contact, the waiters literally looked at me and turned around. During our 25 minute wait two other parties came in, were seated, given drinks, and served. All the while, I was thirsty and starving. What was the common denominator both times I went here? Full of Asians ordering and speaking in Chinese. Maybe the waiters don't even know English? Whatever it is, you should not support this diner. No matter if you are African, Caucasian, Asian or Indian, you are created equal within this country. Someone pass tasty noodle house a memo....
Had their fried rice, meat and some dishes. I think the product is fresh, but their seasoning has something dunno what it is, upsetted my stomach. I hope it's not the chemicals seasonings that they used.
My review is based on dumplings which we love however this place has awful dumplings. The wrapping is very thick and the sane for every order. IMO not cooked enough so by the time we took them home, they were already hard. The xiao long bao had a funny taste and too salty so one bite and the rest in the garbage. Excuse me!!! Seafood Tofu Soup with not even a small piece of shrimp??? Just egg drop soup with tofu and only a few pieces at that .... so disappointing. The other dumplings were just OK and like I said all in the same thick & dry wrapping. Our first time here and not coming back. Service was not cordial or friendly.

$10 for tiny box of pig ear/beef and it barely had a few slices of pig ear in it. This place is super shady and obviously dgaf about their customers. Don't waste your money here.
I can't tell you how their food tastes. I can only tell you that I had to walk out when I saw the man in the kitchen cooking food with no mask on and then yawn over the food as he brought it out lidless to the front. A woman in front was also talking on the phone with her mask off because the phone apparently can't hear you through thin material, and it's more important that people hear what you say then whether or not you run the risk of infecting them. For those who know the restaurant, I saw the cook as the door to the kitchen was being opened and closed frequently and then when he walked out. This establishment has no respect for your health during the global catastrophe. Don't buy from them
We showed up at 8:15 (supposedly they close at 9) and we even called ahead of time before driving out there to make sure they were still open because it was a holiday. They told us they were indeed open. So we hopped in the car and showed up only to have them turn us away anyway because they had closed. We told them we were the ones who had just called and they told us no anyway. We won’t be trying this place after all.
Not worth the wait or price. Came in for take out and was told it would take 10 mins. To my surprise, everyone that was sat down after placing my order were getting their food first. Not only were they getting their food first, but some finished eating, left and my noodles were still not done. Finally, 30 mins later, we get our take out and it was nothing special. It so was bland. Will not be back.
Soup arrived in the middle of the meal and was lukewarm, we suspect it was sitting and waiting to be delivered earlier. The noodle dishes were rather bland, not what we enjoyed in the past. And the beef was on the chewy side. What happened, Tasty Noodle?
Tony should be doing something else since serving is not in his dictionary. We arrived, seated and waited. He came over and asked for our order. We said that we just sat down, can we have something to drink first? He did not respond and walked away, and did not return. Another waitress took care of us later.
Awful food and service. I have not eaten out for a long time, and I was craving Asian food, and it was a complete disappointment. Half the items were not available, and one of the dishes arrived ice cold from the refrigerator. The seafood soup had no seafood, just a lot of egg and spinach. They used the cheapest plastic and foam to serve the food, and a couple of the employees were arguing in the kitchen. All in all, I will much rather stay home, prepare my food fresh and plate it in an excellent porcelain dish than spend money to feel like an animal. Unacceptable, and it cost me $60. I can make crab cakes, buy a steak, salad and a semi decent bottle of wine for that money, and enjoy them while listening to some music. I don't need the hussle of some many restaurants that use the pandemic as an excuse to serve garbage.
Food here isn't bad, but the service is atrocious. Last time I went here, we specifically asked for spicy beef noodle soup and the waitress brought out the spicy fish and tofu soup. When we tried to ask about the order, she immediately said no you ordered the fish, I repeated the order back to you. Look, mistakes happen, but it's kinda hard to mix up beef with fish. We were put off by the lack of apology, and I guess the other waitress noticed and gave us watermelon juice instead (not full cups). I really hated the hot and sour taste of the fish soup and refused to eat more. The soup dumplings were over cooked so much that there wasn't a drop of soup inside. The only thing I really liked was the fried pork bun, which is this restaurant's saving grace. I won't come here again.
Have been a frequent visitor to this restaurant. Food is always good and all the staffs and aunties are super friendly. However, the owner of this restaurant does not allow their staffs to turn on the AC during the heat wave (around 102F degree weather for the whole weekend fyi). Not only are the customers sweating excessively (the aunties are super sweet and offered us takeout box lids to use as handheld paper fans to cool down) under the unnecessary indoor heat conditions, the staffs also have to work under the absurd heat, which would be a potential health hazard. I feel sorry for them.
It is sad that both service and food was disappointing after new employees and menu.. it is obvious of the new ownership. Other than increase in price, they now use cheaper noodles.. and turns mushy.. I can't even separate the noodles.. it was so bad, I didn't eat the needles. Sad that a noodle house can't do noodles. Used to visit regularly.. time to cross out Tasty Noodle. I rather have noodles from JJ bakery.
After I placed my order, I was repeatedly told to come back in 25 minutes, without any explanation. The restaurant was mostly empty, but I was not allowed to sit and wait. Only later did the staff say it was because of “reservations.” I asked if I could leave when the reservation arrived, but the staff ignored my question and walked away to the back kitchen. The communication was poor and the attitude felt dismissive. Very disappointing experience.
