Opinions de Ale Pie House Jacksonville
We eat here all the time. It's delicious every time. We are simple and like the simple Italian dishes. The grandma's meatball is a meal it's self.
The food is delicious! I am giving them a 5 star only because the hot food and service was good. We enjoyed the Chicago styled pizza, the spaghetti, and the Garlic rolls!!! We were not impressed with the dessert. We are talking about the cheese cake in particular. It did not taste like cheese cake. It tasted like cream cheese without the additional ingredients that was put into the shape of a cheese cake with crust that did not taste good either. We tried one other cake but was still not to our liking. The server was pleasant.
Myself and a friend ordered from the dinner menu for lunch. I had an extemely delicious chicken picata, my friend ordered an equally delicious eggplant parma. Service was excellent and friendly. Relaxing ambience featuring instrumental music playing in the background, allowing for casual no strain conversation. Can't wait to return. My friend noticed that to night (Wed.) is ladies night featuring $4.00 margaritas or mojitos.
We have ordered food from here twice and it's been great food. We plan to have dinner in one night, it looks like a good date night place. I wanted to update this post because we've since gone here for a dinner date. It's quite and romantic, friendly staff, quick service. We had the lamb chops, they were amazing. Other night we ordered take out I got the Ales Clam Pasta. It was the best sauce I've ever tasted. Can't go wrong with anything ya order it seems.
The food was so good! We ordered chicken parm and chicken picata. The marinara sauce is delicious. The pasta and chicken were so good! We also got garlic bread, jalapeño poppers and bruschetta. The bruschetta was fresh and delicious! We will be coming back!
Let me start off by saying HOLY MOLY am I happy I ordered delivery through them directly! That was the QUICKEST delivery experience of my life, thank you kind delivery sir! I was heading to the reviews with a 5 start before I even tried the food. But WOW the fried mushrooms and ranch were fantastic. I asked for them well done, and they got here hot out of the fryer and crispy, perfect. Both of my pizzas were cooked well done like I asked in the special instructions as well and my order was all correct! I didn't see any desserts on the menu, so I threw a hail mary and asked in the special instructions that if they happen to offer desserts in store, please add one to my order. I was pleasantly surprised with a DELICIOUS slice of new york cheesecake. Im only typing this long review (which I never do) because my food is so freaking HOT still that I've got time to let it cool down xD
Finally a pizza that tastes awesome….ill be back every time I want pizza…the Greek salad was delicious as well….the garlic bread was fresh and scrumptious…this place has a great atmosphere…
My husband and I ate from them yesterday and let me tell you.... OMG!!!! Fantastic Food!!!! Enough for two meals! The cheesy garlic bread could have more garlic for my taste because I love garlic but their dipping sauce is amazing!!!! The lasagna is the best in town! Their cheese steaks meet with a Pennsylvania girls' stamp of approval. It is hard to find a really good Philly cheese steak outside of PA. Oh and don't get me started on these homemade rolls. Yummy!!!. Awesome job y'all!!!! This was 4 months ago. 12/2021 This is from today 4/2022 The pictures are from our order today. The spaghetti was fantastic!!!! Homemade noodles, homemade meatball and homemade sauce!!! Wow!!!! Love it!!!! Of course that was for my hubby. I had to have my usual...a Philly Cheese Steak! Oh and it was even better than the last one we also got Jalapeno Poppers (only ate 2 cuz we were stuffed). We also had cheesy garlic bread. It was a little too dark (a bit burned in some areas). Besides that, our dinner was a fantastic dinner, with leftovers. I would give y'all 4.5 stars. 😉⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⭐
Tried this wonderful local spot on a whelm. When I tell you their pizza is the best. Wine selection was great as well. I dined alone and sat by the window. The service was great. It was a stormy day. However, I did notice many people pre-ordered or did take out. So that speaks volumes this was happening during a storm. Will definitely return on my next visit.
We ordered Chicago Style pizza and it was absolutely delicious. Great sauce, meat and cheese. Very impressed! We also ordered the cheese garlic bread, and that was very flavorful. The Ale House Salad was great with cheese and olives. The tomatoes were a bit over ripe, and some lettuce was not as fresh as it could've been. We were surprised how little lettuce was in the salad. We had delivery, and I think that the dressings being packaged directly in with the salad is unsanitary and takes up a lot of room. I'd ask for them to be packed separately if ordering delivery. We ordered from Door Dash so we can not speak to the service or delivery. Overall, flavor was out of this world so we will definitely try again.
Waitress was super alsweet and knew all the best items on the menu. We went during lunchtime which was such a good time to go because there wasn't that many people there and also it was very sanitary. The menu also had a wide variety of food items to choose from. We chose the hawaiin Chicago style stuffed pizza and it was totally worth it and very delicious. The pizza was stuffed with the ingredients inside of it along with the cheese too and the sauce was put ontop of it all.
Excellent meal from start to finish. The food was fresh and flavorful. Prepared and cooked to perfection. We enjoyed Minestrone soup, the Spaghetti with a meatball, and Chicken Marsala. This was my second visit, and I will continue to be a returning customer.
Great little place with outdoor seating. Best Italian sub I've had since being in FL. Our waitress, Stephanie was awesome, friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. I would recommend you try this place out. We'll definitely be back! Thank you!
I met with the owner and he’s a genuine authority on good food and presentation. My server Fjalbi (pronounced as Fee-y’all-bee) was very helpful and fast. Everyone speaks perfect English and their menu selection will keep you coming back and telling your friends. I chose the lunch portion of lasagna and even Garfield would be impressed! Come check it out for yourself.
Ale Pie House has continuously delivered phenomenal food to us. I am completely intrigued by the chill, authentic European vibe. You can have conversations with your people while still enjoying the food. The food! The food! It is consistently Fantastic during the week, weekend, lunch, dinner or holiday. Way to go Ale Pie House, you keep me coming back. 🥂!
Nice little Italian restaurant in Avondale. Visited on a Saturday around 2pm we got seated immediately wasn’t super busy got there at a good time. The server was very attentive and the food was delicious. The plates were a good size and we had left overs. It’s enough for a shareable plate if you ask me. They also deliver around that area as well! We will definitely be back!
Stephanie was awsome! Meatballs, pizza, calzone, fried mushrooms! All great. 1 bottle sangria! 1st time here! Will travel 30 min to eat here from now on!
I went here for the first time, and this place is hands down one of my fav Italian places to eat! I’ll def be back! Do yourself a favor and order the cheesey garlic bread with the pesto sauce, it is to DIE for, so crispy yet fluffy and flavorful. The garlic knots they bring you are outta the world good, they’re like if fresh Hawaiian Rolls had a baby with a homemade garlic roll from scratch, that is what you’d get! Delightfully surprised! The cheese baked ziti is what’s up, love the portion, including the amount of homemade marinara sauce they give you. The lasagna is bombdiggity. The fresh Parmesan is always welcomed. Our waitress, Stephanie C., was extremely on point and awesome. Stephanie C. was so polite, professional, friendly, and had a great sense of urgency! Thanks for the super experience!
Omg! This is truly incredible place! We ordered pizza- caprese pita bread-tiramisu- banana cake. All incredible! Pizza was thin crust and nicely baked, definitely very close to authentic italian restaurants! Caprese pita bread came with chicken tomato and mozarella- so tasty, full of flavor and filling! Tiramisu was the first one in a restaurant that i did not regret ordering! Definitely authentic! I did not try the banana cake but it disappeared from the plate very quickly so i assume it was great. Overall stop by and try definitely worth it!!
My first time here. Excellent atmosphere. Very clean and especially nice customer service. Food was very good. I had the Chicago Stuffed Pizza. Also the wings and cheese bread. Everything was very good.
First time ordering tonight 10/6/23, Friday night. Wait was around 30-40 mins. Price was right. Ordered 2-16” pies, Plain and Pesto with Shrimp The plain was a little on the salty side but looved the thin crust style and the taste! I’ve eaten pies from a few places in Jax and this one reminds me of the ones up north! Pesto & Shrimp-(Amazing!) Buuut, I do wish the shrimp was chopped smaller and grilled a tiny bit. Pizza was oily from the pesto but you have to expect that. Besides that-the taste was on point! Ale Pie House did NOT disappoint and can’t wait to order again!

Food was excellent, mid afternoon both Lunch and dinner menu available. Had Jalapeno Poppers and Bruschetta appetizers, both ample for a party of four. My main course, Penne Ala Vodka was delicious and I had plenty left to take home!
Ale Pie House provided food for our school’s soccer banquet and it was fantastic. We had about 100 in attendance and so many commented on how delicious the food. Mario was wonderful to work with and so accommodating. We will 100% be using them again!
The pies at Ale Pie House have been amazing the last two times we went. They have always been good but wow! We ordered the meat lover pizza with no pepperoni. The crust is tender and perfectly cooked, especially since it was loaded with meat. We have eaten here for 6 or 7 years and continue to come back.
Tasty NYC Style large/16" ½&½ pie ($30), enough for four adults. Happy Hour beer and wine specials til 19:00. Casual space. Attentive wait staff.
My family and I go here when we are wanting a nice pizza or calzone. The apps are great and the foods we have had are great too. Will be back

I got the Chicago style veggie pizza. I got two more meals out of it. It had a nice flavor. It was too cold to eat outside, but the atmosphere would have gotten a better mark if it was. There was a distracting TV screen going inside. Most people are not bothered by that.
Has great price, specially if you use the groupon! I like the bruchetas a lot. The pizza was not as tasty as I expected it but still was really good I do like the mass because is thin, but not super dry/crunchy. They also have a good variety of beers and wines. Wine bottle super affordable! The pizza is the prosciutto, dry tomatoes, mozzarella and basil. 20 dlls.
Went Saturday the pizza was good but dry
Nice local Italian restaurant. Not too many left in Jax these days that aren't chains. Tried the shrimp Alfredo which had a rich heavy sauce that wasn't bad. The shrimp we're plump and bouncy and there were enough included in the meal. The dish I liked more was the personal 10" New York thin crust. I chose a specialty topping of Philly cheese beef with onions peppers and mushrooms. Crust was crisp and beef flavorful. Not overwhelming with peppers which is good, but I could barely detect mushrooms at all, not good. Service was very friendly. Would go back if I had a craving for Italian on the westside.
I had the cheesy bread and fettuccine carbonara. The bread was delicious and a good serving for the price. The fettuccine was also good with a good serving as I could only eat half maybe a little less in one sitting. Unfortunately, the carbonara was a little bland but still good. I would however recommend it to a friend.
My husband and I came here for the first time a few days ago. We ordered the antipasta salad and two pizzas. The antipasta tasted good, but PLEASE chop up the toppings for the customers instead of throwing the meat and cheese on top of the lettuce. It was very hard to cut it up with a butter knife and took time to do so. I ended up asking the server for a steak knife. Toppings should be cut up in an antipasta salad and distributed throughout the salad, not slapped on top and uncut - so that was very annoying. The pizza was decent.
went with some friends last night and food and service was great . my complaint was the fact that we brought our CLIPPS coupons with us to use and upon check out was told that only one coupon could be used per table witch we were not aware of and was pointed out on the coupon by somebody that was working there , We were paying with separate coupons on the separate checks and separate credit cards , unaware of this technicality! She told us that the "computer" would not allow this 2 coupons to happen since we were at the same table . I was not happy with this transaction , knowing this glitch could not be resolved is what makes me unhappy .
I give this place a 5 for pizza and. 1 for Stromboli. The one is for fresh ingredients. The stromboli was supposed to be cheese, pepperoni and sausage. We found two penny size pieces of sausage. The pepperoni was only slightly better and the rest was cheese. No ingredients at all in about 3 inches of each end. If you cut the portion in half and used the same amount of ingredients it would still be very short on meat. I would complain about one small serving of sauce for a stromboli that size but it was so short on ingredients we ended up not needing all the sauce. The staff and restaurant are always great but the food was a Massive disappointment tonight. We
The pizza is fine. The outside area is very nice and suitable for a date night.
First time here. Wasn’t sure what to order…went with the Philly cheesesteak Chicago style. A lot going on in that pizza that it was undercooked and slightly cold. No big deal. The kitchen was backed up. I will say once you get passed the marinara sauce I could taste the philly steak. May come back, on the fence about it. It was worth a try.
I've seen pics of Ale Pie House and I've been dying to take my boyfriend and son. It was such a let down from the atmosphere to the service. Now don't get me wrong I gave this place 3 stars because it was 100% mediocre. I ordered the chicken picatta, my son ordered the chicken Parm, and my bf ordered spaghetti with meat sauce and we had the bacon cheese fries for an appetizer (great food presentation). My chicken picatta had such an overwhelming wine tang you could not get any of the other flavors. Like someone just poured wine over it. If you cook with wine you'll know what I mean. The other dishes were just ok. Now the atmosphere was such a weird vibe. So quiet, no music and it almost seemed like there was a problem within the staff. As their whole attitudes towards each other was passive aggressive. Just weird. Unfortunately it was a one and done for us. Could've just been an off night for them. Price was good, our bill was just under $90 for 3 adults.
We ordered lobster ravioli $27 and the clams linguine $22. The packaging was leaking and all the clam sauce/ juice was in the bottom of the bag, so the pasta was dry. The ravioli was large with a good amount of lobster, but the sauce was pasty and very thick. We will definitely give this place another try but will dine in instead of delivery. I think if they invested in higher quality take out dishes the food would have been better when it reached us 3.4 miles away.

The bruschetta is THE BEST!!! Great service, too. The building is old, but it's clean. Update: February 19,2024: Today, I am changing my ratings from all 5 stars across the board to 2's and 3's...overall 2 I'm not sure what's going on but the food was not good at all. However, I was able to take some pretty pictures of it 🙄 We had bruschetta. It was our favorite here... not anymore. The tomatoes were a bit soggy, and the bread wasn't toasted all the way. We also ordered a medium pineapple pepperoni and sausage pizza. The toppings tasted freezer burned. The pineapples were extremely soft, and the pizza was not hot. Though our server was nice, she was the only one working the floor and handling the telephone orders (on her day off...that's what she told another customer) while the young man that was there wiped down the bar several times (no one was sitting there) He did bring us the bruschetta but that was it. We will most likely take a break from this spot. So disappointing.
I love paying $18+ for a smallllllllllllll pizza and not getting what I asked for. Over pricing and can’t even do it right? Extremely frustrating. Especially when I take something off, what if I am allergic? So now I can’t eat the pizza? Do bettttter. Even if it is an hour from closing…. Won’t be ordering here again, Carmine’s never gets it wrong! First time ordering here. :/ sad.

It's a shame to be writing a negative review on this place because the food was actually pretty decent. Unfortunately the owner lacks any sense of customer service and seems to care less if people want to come back again in the future. I got one of their Groupons to take my wife out for a nice lunch. I mentioned this to the server before the meal just to be sure, and everything was good with our meal. Then the server mentioned that the Groupon was "misleading" and that it wasn't actually redeemable for 2 Seafood Combos (despite being extremely clear on the Groupon offer itself). I asked to speak with the owner, and he seemed dead set on just telling us we were wrong instead of making something right for his customers. He gaslit us, telling us that the Groupon is wrong and that we had to pay $20 more, even though that would result in us receiving practically no discount at all over menu price. He feigned ignorance about how Groupon works, despite also telling us he's been working with them for 12 years. He ended up kicking us out of the restaurant and accusing us of being "the kind of people who go around scamming restaurants". It's a shame, the restaurant has potential, but there is no excuse for treating your customers that way over a mistake you made.
The pizza here is phenomenal! However I would not recommend spending a dime of your money at this establishment, the owner is very rude and disrespectful and treats his employees like trash.
