I was in the area with my wife looking for something to eat. I found a review for this place that featured a picture of their Love roll. The picture sold me on this place. What we found when we arrived was a cozy little restaurant. The server was absolutely wonderful. Finally the Love roll, this maybe my new favorite Sushi roll.

It tastes healthy. Like something I made at home if I had a degree in culinary arts. The bill is never too expensive. And the staff is always friendly. Delicious sushi and hot food as well. Loved it so much- I ate my general tso’s chicken and fried rice cold- and I hate cold food. So that says a lot. Love Watami ❤️

This was one of the tastiest sushi places we've had after moving here. The dining room was empty for a Friday night but there were several take out orders and the food was very fresh. We ordered bento boxes, udon, some small apps, yellow tail sushi, white tuna sushi and some rolls. The waitress was so kind to us and our kiddos...and very attentive with us. We definitely plan to return! :)

Very small restaurant with delicious food. I had the Tofu Bento box and my husband had eel roll and Sushi deluxe. We also tried the Crab bomb which is jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese and ‘crab’ then breaded and fried- it was great!

The food and the customer service was amazing, probably the best service I ever had. I live about 2 hours from Johnstown and would make the trip back solely to go to this restaurant. When we walked in the place was empty and after leaving I cannot understand why. This place should be full of customers!

The service and food of Watami was truly amazing. I've been to Osaka and Kabuki before, two other sushi places local to the area, and all are good options whenever it comes to sushi. However, Watami's service outrivals the other two. With the nicest waitress in the world who made sure we were doing alright all throughout the meal and going above and beyond normal service, it was one of the most memorable dining experiences I've ever had.

I came here @ 8pm because I wanted Japanese food & Kabuki was closed and it did not disappoint. This is going to be my new go to Japanese place. The atmosphere was nice & the service was great. The sushi was delicious and so was the rest of the food. What really surprised me was how big the servings were. Recommend to everyone!

Absolutely incredible! My boss suggested me this place and we all went out to eat and it is pricey. But for what you get I say it's 100% worth it. The food is so good I highly suggest if anybody's looking for sushi go here for three people it costed about $130 some and the reason why I costed that much is because of one of my co-workers accidentally ordered way too much than what he can eat.

We decided to DoorDash from Watami today, and everything was absolutely fantastic! We ordered the General Tso's with one white rice and one fried rice, along with a Strawberry Ramune drink and a Banana Milk Tea. Each dish was perfectly cooked, and the General Tso's had just the right level of spice—chef's kiss! The rice was flavorful and complemented the dish perfectly. The drinks were refreshing and a great way to end the meal. Highly recommend Watami for an amazing meal, whether you're dining in or ordering out!

It’s Fathers Day and Dad chose to try a new sushi place. Our family was more than impressed by the service, sushi, and boba tea. Alina was our server — she was the GOAT of servers. Kind and helpful. Made excellent recommendations. Even gifted Dad a boba tea. Did I mention she hand rolled the boba?! Amazing! Complimentary starter of fried wonton chips with dip. And lollipops at the end. Sushi was excellent— we chose 10 rolls and each was delightful. Kids chatted about the impressive experience all the way home. They also got rainbow boba in cat cups with special boba and fruit. We will definitely be frequent customers. And must try the boba coffee we saw on the menu!

I am BLOWN AWAY by the food here. I never even knew about this place until today. The portion sizes are enough to feed you 2-3 times over and the prices are shockingly low, even for japanese cuisine. The service was prompt and friendly and we received all of our appetizers and entrees in a timely manner. We're from Indiana county and it's well worth the drive!!

Great hole in the wall spot. Didn't know it existed until a couple of months ago and haven't been to a better place since! The service is very nice and quick. This isn’t just the best Japanese restaurant in the area, it’s one of the best restaurants in the area overall. The food is unbelievably good and well-portioned for the price, plated beautifully, and delivered quickly. The sushi rolls are the best in the area, without a doubt. Bubble tea is affordable for a large serving and the tapioca is the perfect consistency. Everything is consistently fantastic; I’ve never had one thing here that wasn’t a 10/10 and I’ve visited several times on different days/times. Dine-in atmosphere is comfortable and very clean. I worry a lot about cleanliness at restaurants and even I feel totally comfortable here. Service is incredible too- very kind and accommodating servers, fast service, even free samples of new dishes and drinks. Also, I consistently find that I spend less money here than at other comparable restaurants but get more food and leave feeling like I enjoyed myself more than at other places. Watami is such an amazing addition to the area and they definitely have made lifelong customers out of me and my family. The best service I seen in Johnstown by the lady up front. The chef is a sushi master his creations are mouth watering and delicious. He knows how to combine great flavors . Prices reasonable. You got to try their smoothies . I highly recommend this restaurant

This is a great place to eat in Richland Pa. Small restaurant. Not a ton of seating. Many people order takeout. The food is amazing 10/10. If your eating in, expect to wait a little bit but totally worth the wait. Best sushi in the area. Many people choose Nyko's but this place puts them to shame both on quality and price! Eel was delicious. Seaweed salad had an interesting flavor, though best taken in small doses. The fried rice wasn't light or heavy but more of a medium. Rough flavors, in a pleasant way. A bit peppery. But I like pepper. The mushroom soup was light and delicate. Delicious. Well balanced. Like a thin soup or a broth. Try it.

Lovely lady who works here! She is the best! Nice place for dairy allergies/vegans. Good food but inconsistent…sometimes the sushi is good, sometimes not so good. She can make vegan bubble tea with juice instead of milk or powder (unfortunately that has dairy too). Vegetable fried spring rolls are yummy. Vegetable dumplings are good too…but 1 time I got an animal flesh/meat dumpling mixed in with my vegetable 1’s so since then I haven’t gotten it again. I’m sure it was an accident by the kitchen staff but it still put me off. As for the sushi, sometimes it’s delicious but sometimes it’s not so good. So idk if they have different chefs back there or what’s going on but that made me get their food less.

I ordered the General chou chicken. The sauce was good, not too sweet. the breading was thick. The rice was obviously sushi rice (very, very vinegary). I could not eat it. When I mentioned it to the server she said her husband said it was regular white rice. I had sushi many times and Asian food countless times. I didn't want a refund or anything...but she stuck to the story. Anyway it wasn't pleasant. My husband had a shrimp and beef dish. He said it had no seasoning. (Like ginger or garlic or fresh herbs) she brought Sriracha, which helped, but there's more to seasoning than just heat. The appetizer we shared was supposedly tempura shrimp. No...it wasn't.. it was 3 panko breadcrumb coated shrimp. Very bland and tiny.

Hmmm ... well, the food is good overall, but the service is slow, SLOW . SLOOOOOWWWWWWWWW ... it takes FOREVER. While listening to the worst pop/EDM remixes known to man. ( americans DO NOT like that music, believe it or not !!! ) HIRE A TABLE WAITER .... AND PLAY BETTER MUSIC !!!

Coming from CA to PA, quality and taste is very different. It's basically entry level for novices. Service is very good...

The won ton soup was so disappointing, the noodles were terrible and mushy, it was extremely salty. The chicken teriyaki was disgusting, the rice was mush. There wasn't a thing that I enjoyed about our meal

I ordered some sushi yesterday totaling $23, After reading the reviews I figured this place was amazing because they’re all positive. I don’t like to leave bad reviews but this fish tasted rotten. I wasted half of my tuna roll due to it being dry and the tuna looked gray. I also got the fantastic roll with spicy mayo and the mayo was sweet which i wasn’t expecting with spicy mayo. Overall after eating a few pieces my stomach immediately hurt it’s sad because I love sushi but I wouldn’t recommend the sushi. I haven’t tried the other food and this was my first time eating here. I wish the sushi could’ve been better. I had a bad feeling about it when I walked in and noticed the fish they had behind the glass to make the sushi looked rotten or almost rotten.. Very disappointing that I wasted $23 dollars but now I know at least.

Reviews were good so I thought I’d try. Fish was gray???? Literally repulsive I didn’t notice some of the gray fish until I ate the middle roll. It tasted rotten. Immediately contacted grubhub customer service to have my money refunded. Id avoid this place unless you want food poising.
