This place was so good, and very nicely decorated, the service was very good. The food was tasty and plenty. I loved the jalapeño corn 🌽 bread 🍞 with butter. My meal was the Kansas meat combo which is two kinds of meat and fries. The order consisted of beef ribs and burnt sides. Both were good and the fries were salted and seasoned very well. It's a pleasant experience and worth trying in summer as it is part of the beer 🍺 garden

I honestly thought we were not gonna finish any meat but the whole plate was cleaned! We got combo of 3, lamb, beef burnt end and prime crown beef + kid’s bbq chicken. All the meats are tender juicy literally fall apart while you pick it with forks. I love the burnt end the most. Reservation is highly recommend. It’s very popular. The service is great. The staff is nice friendly attentive. The decoration gives beer garden vibes. Relaxing, people chatting with drinks and good meat.

amazing bbq! we got the kansas city combo and the cue for two roundup. we tried the burnt ends, beef ribs, pork ribs, brisket, pulled pork, turkey, cheesy corn, baked beans and cole slaw! they also had a big kids menu and each of my kids could find something they liked. everything was amazing! we liked the burnt ends, pork ribs and cheesy corn and beans the best! all the sides are 10/10! next time we come to kc we will definitely be back!

As a lover of BBQ across the nation, I would definitely eat here again. The standard barbecue sauce and mustard based sauces were excellent. I got the Tuesday special of Burnt ends for Pork and Sausage. That was probably the best pork burnt ends I have ever had. The fries were good as they appeared to be cut in house. The atmosphere was really over the top. It is a great place. There were a couple large company Christmas lunches there and they had the room to host it. As always you can follow me @weaversstonehousefarm on the YouTube

Josh!!! Huge shoutout to our waiter Josh! Phenomenal customer service is hard to find these days. You my friend deserve to be celebrated. You are appreciated beyond words can express…. THANK YOU! This establishment was wayyy more than what I was expecting! I was blown away by the decor, ambiance, and also the method of ordering. As a Texan, we are used to standing in a line to order in cafeteria style. This restaurant is actually a table service establishment which made the experience even better! We ordered brisket, ribs, pulled pork, Mac n cheese, beans, baked potato, and smoked salmon dip. All were AMAZING!!! Fresh, flavorful, and muy delicioso!! Can y’all please bring this greatest to Texas??? Pretty Please!!!

Fiorella’a Jack Stack does it so good! Best BBQ in KC. Seated 7 very quickly. Very polite, friendly, & professional staff. Outside seating was very comfortable & warm. Our server, Kylee is amazing. The pork & beef burnt ends, sausage, ribs, & lamb were all delicious. Finally, the birthday celebration was so wonderful to bring joy for our ELDERLY guest.

I visited KC from South Carolina and my friends told me I HAD to try KC’s famous BBQ. They took me to Jack Stack, and it did not disappoint. I had the pick two, with a side of delicious gold in a bowl, I think it is the cheesy corn bake, and I was blown away. It was definitely the best BBQ I have had. Service was amazing, and the atmosphere was comfortable. Highly recommended!

I love BBQ and I have never been disappointed when dining at Jack Stack. The atmosphere at the Freight House location is terrific. My wife and I ate there yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I had a brisket sandwich with fries and beans on the side. My wife had a salad with salmon. Their BBQ sauce is one of my favorites and their beans are the best. The portions are good. I ended up taking half of my sandwich home, which almost never happens. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood for delicious BBQ.

What an unforgettable first visit to Jack Stack Barbecue in Kansas City! The Kansas City Combo Plate blew me away—the burnt ends were ridiculously good, and those big beans? Hands down the best I’ve ever tasted. But the real highlight was the service. Laura, my bartender, nailed every recommendation and brought such an easy, welcoming vibe that it felt like I was catching up with friends in my own living room. This place is an easy five stars. Can’t wait to go back!

Food was excellent. We had the Jack's Best platter for 4 and our party of 5 had lots of yummy leftovers to take home. We were visiting from San Diego and now Jack's Stack is only KC BBQ we will be eating every visit!

Jack Stack BBQ never disappoints. The ribs are fall-apart tender with a deep, smoky bark, perfectly sauced without being overpowering. The burnt ends are rich and juicy, and the fries are the ideal crispy sidekick. Every bite tastes like classic KC BBQ done right.

R
Reed Harder

The lamb ribs are a must have! The turkey is good if you're in to that sort of thing (no shame in admiting it). The brisket was good too, but didn't meet the high standard set by the other meats. Fries were well seasoned and had a good fluffy texture with a crisp outside. If you just want dessert this is a better option than those cookie places. She Jack on my Stack 'till I Kansas City Barbecue.

Great restaurant that serves high Quality food at a great price. The service is def 5 stars. There is in and outdoor seating. The decor is fenomenal. Plenty of room for large groups. Def worth the visit.

A great restaurant to sit and be served BBQ so a little upscale. The portions were rather small but definitely delicious. Had beef brisket, turkey, burnt ends, baby back ribs, mac and cheese 👌🏽 coleslaw and jalapeño cornbread 🤤

Had BBQ every day in Kansas City. Went to Jack Stack on a friend’s recommendation and it was fabulous. Weather was great so we sat on the patio. Started with the jalapeno cornbread skillet - which I loved - and wouldn’t have ordered because I am not a jalapeno fan. Delicious! The smoked BBQ shrimp were perfectly cooked. Cheesy corn was not my favorite but still good! Took a crème brûlée back for later.

In KC for a business trip and decided to stop into Jack Stack for a lunch. It was a Wednesday and the special was southern pulled pork sandwich on a hoagie so that sounded good. I was greeted by my server Hunter, who is very pleasant and accommodating. He went over the menu with me and then when he brought my sandwich, he explained the different barbecue sauces to see if I wanted to try a different one. Besides the original made suggestions on the sides. He was a pleasure to have as a server so along with my sandwich, I ordered the potato salad and coleslaw for my sides. The potato salad was so good. The potatoes were sliced very nicely instead of chunks. They were nice slices so it was easy to eat had great flavor. The coleslaw was creamy with a little sweetness just the way I like it. Everything was perfect. I sat outside in the patio area. It was a little cool that day so it was heated. Parking was easy for a city location very pleased with my choice and I’ll definitely go back when I’m in the city again.

First off, I’m from Texas and know my barbecue, plus I travel all over North America . This place has damn good food! I have never seen a barbecue place with lamb ribs. I had to get those and they did not disappoint. I also got the brisket. A lot of northern places don’t do brisket or do it well. Jack stack does it very well. The side was excellent too, I had the beans and coleslaw. I will for sure be back I a recommend this as a must try if your in the area.

Went for business dinner, large group. Monika handled us with aplomb. Wings and mushrooms for appetizers were great! I had salmon (too many other BBQ visits this week) and it was great! Several had beef ribs, looked amazing! One had pulled pork mac & cheese so I'm doing that next time. Pork chop was next to me and looked good also. Dessert sounded great but alas, no more room at the inn. Delightful experience, all in all. Yes, we made reservations.

This was my first visit to Kansas City and the reviews were good so I decided to try it…. The reviews did not lie! The food was finger licking good and the service was amazing! Matthew was my server and he took care of business! I might have to fly back in town just for another piece of that carrot cake! Omg! If you’re looking for a place to get some good barbecue, all roads lead here!!!!

The bar area before we got our table was wonderful. Michelle at the bar and another lady were very busy, but never missed us in 2 hours. When we got our table the waiter Bobby was one of the best I've ever had at any restaurant and had recommendations. Our food was amazing. Unfortunately I drank way to much following a long stint on a diet and passed out in front of their bathroom. The manager and bobby along with my friends were able to help me recover and get us on our way and even gave us cupcakes to go. 10/10 would come again. 3/10 would recommend passing out in front of their bathroom door.

The food was good. Burnt ends were as you would want them and the baked beans were pretty amazing. Decor and atmosphere was on point but our server wasn’t helpful at all, she was only interested in doing what she needed to do, and on her own timeframe. It felt like she thought we were there for HER, not that she was there to enhance our experience. The manager that was running food WAS friendly, smiled and definitely seemed like he wanted us to be there. I’ll go back but wont make a special trip.

Truly incredible bbq - a step up from Joe’s. Joes has better sauce. But Jack Stack clears every other way. The sides are better (beans are comparable at both), the meats better, and you get significantly more food. We got Jacks Best for 4 and it’s an impressive amount of food, 3 people couldn’t finish it. The beef ribs are extremely fatty and tender and juicy - they are the best thing on the menu hands down. The pork ribs are also quite good, the sausage next, finally the burnt ends and lastly the beef brisket. Honestly, no point getting the beef brisket, the beef ribs are better in every way. I also really enjoyed the sides, and the pickles and the pickled onions to help cut the fat. The nicer ambiance and seating also help distinguish it from Joes. It isn’t much of a competition, if you had to pick one come to Jack Stack.

Got recommended this spot while in town for a concert. Everything was great - food was fantastic. Especially the service. Nick (bearded fella) our server went above and beyond to make our experience great. All his recommendations were spot on. Nick set the gold standard on what customer experience should be. Thanks again Nick. I’ll definitely be back if I’m ever in town again.

I absolutely LOVE this place! Every time I’m in Kansas City, MO I have to go here. This past visit I got their “Kansas City Combo Pick Three” with beef brisket, baby back ribs, and crown prime beef rib! Well worth the extra cost because the crown prime beef rib just MELTS in your mouth! I’m still dreaming about it! Side I had was the cheesy corn bake and the hickory pit beans. All were good. When I have come before, I have also tried their mac & cheese, coleslaw, and potato salad all really good. My friends also tried the beef burnt ends (I tried one of theirs it was really good) and the pulled pork. We also shared the onion rings and the famous carrot cake at the end! Was so delicious! I don’t even like carrot cake and I liked theirs! Now that’s saying something! This place is really huge and in the bar area there’s a fireplace, you can also rent out rooms for different parties, but I still recommend a reservation in advance. Service is always great! You really can’t go wrong ordering anything here as everything is fabulous!

We just love it! Food is great and tasty, they serve large food portions so it worth what you pay for. Ribs is a must. But shrimp it's delicious too! The ambianceis great and everythingis clean and tidy, we love decoration because makes perfect match with the kind of food. Service is great, the team is always taking care of you. Simply put, we'll be there again soon!

Great service. They allowed us to sit and talk for as long as needed. We split a 3 meat plate, and it was plenty for both of us. Brisket, burnt ends, and turkey were all delicious.

The atmosphere is amazing, huge place awesome lights. There is a nice smoke smell in the air. I ordered the beef ribs. They were out of this world, lite smoke flavor strong beef flavor, extremely tender and very filling ! The beans are a must great smoke flavor and a nice sweet bbq finish. Make sure you stop here to eat !

A very nice site down BBQ venue. There is in house, covered patio and bar seating. Food was good (you have to try the beans!), service was friendly and my food came out quickly. It is a bit pricey so plan ahead.

Great location, easy to get to by UBER, and it will be lunch at Jack Stack Barbecue. One of the top addresses in Kansas City! The atmosphere is very energetic, with a lot of people enjoying their BBQ, and it is definitely very busy. I enjoyed the loaded potato with the burnt ends. Delicious! The coleslaw is amazing. One of the best I have had in a while. Service is friendly and focused on service. My score a 4.9.

Geremeh the waiter was friendly and engaged with my kids and me too. Service was fast and the food was really good too. I would definitely recommend coming here plus it super close by he union station too so that's how we stumbled upon this place. :)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely recommend 100% Best BBQ sauce I’ve had so far. I bought some to bring back home to New Mexico. The portions are great! Service is great! Was worth the wait. Beautiful city overall ✨

Some of the best beef ribs around! My wife and I ordered some BBQ to go, we had a gift card, and it was all fantastic! The beef ribs had a ton of flavor, the beef burnt ends were juicy, the cheesy corn and beans were fantastic, and my wife loved her sandwich. The carrot cake dessert was great as well. Personally, it felt like the icing to cake ratio was a little off, but delicious non the less. I had to walk through the whole interior to get to the pickup order, and it looked immaculate inside. It seemed like a perfect place for a date night or BBQ lover. Overall, I highly recommend it!

I was in town for a work conference and our group was seated in a private room, which was perfect for the occasion. We enjoyed a buffet-style dinner featuring delicious BBQ dishes. Everything was well-prepared and plentiful. The staff were excellent—attentive, friendly, and organized, especially with such a large group. I would definitely recommend this location for any type of dining experience.

I was visiting Kansas City on a trip with my friends. And everyone I spoke to prior to traveling advised we try this place ... and it did not disappoint! First impressions ... This place is huge! And the energy is high! A great start! Our waiter quickly attended to us and gave us a quick run down of the menu. His service throughout the rest of the evening was excellent. We ordered some combination platters so we could sample a variety of meats. My favorites were the the ribs, both the spare and baby back. Both were tender and juicy. They practically did not need any sauce, but please add it as it makes it soooo much better. Delicious! And before you get up and leave, I would highly recommend you try the carrot cake. It is served warm with a blanket of warm cream cheese frosting and chopped walnuts. Amazing! What a great way to end a dinner. Since the demand is so high, I highly suggest you book a reservation in advance.

The beef burnt ends were awesome. No sauce required but I did like it with some of the home made pickles. Brisket was a bit dry but still worthy. Good baby back ribs. The baked beans were tasty and sweat and the cheesy corn was some of the best I have ever had. The service was exceptional and the restaurant decor was pleasant. Not bad for a chain. Not bad at all. I would go again.

C

Wonderful beautiful place. Great service and atmosphere. The bartender was awesome. Bbq shrimp is a must try. Bake beans were good, sausages were good, spare ribs were good but the beef brisket was a disappointment. It looked old and dried. I had to dip it into BBQ sauce to be somewhat edible. If you want to get seating highly recommend getting reservations.

R

Jack Stack was a bit of a mixed bag. The baked potato and corn were great, and I really liked the burnt end pork and baby back ribs. But the burnt end beef was dry, and the brisket wasn’t that good either, which was a letdown. But the service made up for a lot. Anna was incredible! Seriously ten-star service. She had great recommendations, super friendly energy, and made the whole meal feel better. If every server were like her, I’d come back just for the hospitality.

This place offers a memorable Kansas City barbecue experience with incredible decor and atmosphere that really sets the tone. Our waiter struck the perfect balance—friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The food was a bit of a mix: the smoked jalapeño cornbread had great texture and was beautifully baked, but fell short on flavor. The beef burnt ends carried good smoky taste but were on the dry side. The pork spare ribs, however, were the highlight—tender, juicy, and falling off the bone. The baked beans and potato salad were some standouts, perfectly seasoned and delicious. Overall, a strong BBQ spot with standout dishes and a great environment, though not every item was a hit.

Solid spot in KC with some creative drinks and good BBQ. Everything was priced fairly. The drinks were poured generously and the BBQ had solid flavor. Our server was really nice and got us everything in a timely manner. If in the area I recommend checking out!

J

Visited here this week and had my mind set on the beef ribs and the pulled pork. I expected the ribs to have more meat and flavor based on previous reviews and how much people raved about it prior to our visit. I mean don’t get me wrong it was good but not out of this world. We also had the jalapeño cornbread which was on point. I go back and try a few other things next time I am in the area.

C
Chelsea Shaw

The food was superb but this was $25. Probably could have fit all the meat in my hand. The server was great and they were super fast too which was nice.

R
Robert Cochran

Had the 3 meat KC combo, the pulled pork was tender and had an excellent crust. The spare ribs were fall off the bone and perfectly seasoned. The brisket was tender, but I felt it lacked seasoning. Overall, the experience was very good and would definitely be recommended to others.

Service: 10 out of 10. Atmosphere: 10 out of 10. Food: 8 out of 10. Value: 5 out of 10. That’s a 33/40 = 0.825 = 82.5% or a B-. The service was great and the atmosphere was like a mountainous chalet, all decked out for Christmas. It was beautiful inside. I got the burnt ends with asparagus. I received 3 pork ends and 4 beef ends and a healthy amount of asparagus. The garlic butter on the asparagus was terrific. The pork was great, but the beef ends, however, were dry and tough; they were difficult to chew. I would not order them again. Additionally, what few burnt ends you receive doesn’t match the amount you pay. I ate at 3:00pm and my bill was $20.62 and my drink was an ice water. Too much cost for very little food. The facilities were clean as well as the booth we sat in. Overall, B-…probably wouldn’t return.

Starter smoked jalapeño corn bread 8 -10 The Pit-master Ribs 8-10 Good sausage 7-10 good but weird taste burnt ends 5-10 very dry wings 6-10 good flavor but dry. Cheese corn 5-10 good but not great Beans 7-10 Potato salad 4-10 Fries 8.5-10 seasoning was awesome Good prices lot of food. Who ever runs the menu needs to add Mac&cheese as a side that’s a must for a BBQ Pkace!!

Based on my research and a recommendation from the hotel staff, we went to dinner at Jack Stack as it was supposedly the best BBQ in town. The restaurant is decent and service was fine. I ordered the Cornbread, KC Combo - 3 Meats(Baby Back Ribs, Burnt Ends, and Sausage) with an order of Baked Beans, Corn Bake, Coleslaw, and Potato Bake. The Cornbread, Sausage, and Coleslaw were the best items. I didn't care for the Corn as it was just pieces of corn in cheese sauce. The potato bake was good but extremely heavy. The meats were okay. Some were dryer than I'd prefer.

C
Cynthia R

I heard so many things abt this place so couldn’t wait to give it a try. Although the meats were extremely tender, I expected more flavor from all the hype i heard abt them. The broccoli was delish, cooked perfectly. Staff was great and very friendly as well.

L
Lonny Laven

Disappointed. I had high expectations for this. The pulled pork was crispy but middle of the road. The brisket and sausage were both dry. The brisket was thin cut and sausage had zero flavor. The baked potato was their best feature.

W
What the Fork Wednesday

What a disappointment! Folks, if you are looking for good barbecue, this is NOT IT! Pick any chain BBQ, drop it a level, and you have this place. We trusted a friend who lives in KC to recommend us a place. Well Keith, you lost our trust with this one. The smoked turkey was decent. Everything else, mid at best. Brisket- dry and blah. Sausage- keep it as links and maybe it won’t taste like dry asphalt. The ribs- no smoke and just ok. The sides, awful, especially the Cole slaw. It was garbage. If you like chain bbq, you will like this place. May God Have Mercy on my BBQ loving soul.

We had a reservation at this location for a group of 10 for one of our friend’s birthday. Unfortunately the service did not meet expectations. Our main server Katherine (taller blonde lady) seemed to have an attitude and openly discussed, within earshot, that we had originally ordered only one family platter. At the time, we weren’t sure how many people would be eating what, a few in our party ordered separately, and when the server suggested ordering an additional platter, we initially declined. We later decided to order a second platter, which was our mistake, but the server reacted as if this caused a major inconvenience and appeared to take it personally. I assume a restaurant would welcome additional sales, no? After that, most of our service was handled by another waitress who mentioned she was assisting our original server. I’ve visited Jack Stack several times in the past and have never experienced poor customer service, which made this visit especially disappointing. I had also added to our reservation notes that we were there to celebrate a birthday and we would like to order a dessert. This was never mentioned and nobody ever said Happy Birthday, thank you for joining us on your birthday. Nothing. I encourage customers to spend money elsewhere, where you’re treated pleasantly. Because of this experience, I will likely choose a different Jack Stack location or a completely different barbecue restaurant next time.
