Came to visit the Stonehedge here in Texas and was heading back to town and came across this restaurant on Google Maps. Billie Jean is a delicious restaurant. They have amazing food and amazing views. The food is super cheap and delicious and it is pet friendly will definitely come back to this place.

My girlfriends and I dined here and we enjoyed everything! I ordered the grilled catfish and I loved it; the sweet potatoes and green beans were just the icing on the cake. Our server, Steph, was an absolute delight with such a helpful and cheerful attitude. We will definitely be back.

American style food with some Texas flavors and stylings added in. Reasonably priced. Nice deck seating overlooking the Guadalupe River with waterfowl and hummingbirds to watch. We had a surf and turf grilled shrimp with ribeye steak and a Ruben sandwich with side salads. All tasty and good portions. Steak was done correctly but it is more thinly sliced than the typical ribeye. But was still tender and nicely seasoned. Ruben was classically good with a nice thousand island custom sauce. Bottle of wine was a reasonable $18 and one could take home the unfinished portion. There wasn’t any. We went after an 80 mile bike ride for the Easter Hill Tour so ravenous hunger may slightly color our rating of the food.

Wonderful place overlooking the river, with both inside and outside dining. The ambience is homey and comfortable, and our server was cheerful and helpful. This is a Comfort Food place. I ordered Rainbow Trout, which I hadn't had since camping with my dad as a teen. It was cooked perfectly and delicious, as was the wild rice. The cole slate was sweet, not vinegary, and the portions were generous. I heartily recommend this restaurant.

This is my go to restaurant while visiting Kerrville, Tx. Just can't resist the super tasty comfort food that just keeps you coming back for more. So far, I've had the meatloaf, pepper steak, breaded pork chops, chicken fried steak. Never have I been disappointed. Both the ambiance and friendly service make for a comfortable experience. So many delicious desserts to choose from that it makes it so difficult to decide. If you're ever in Kerrville, Tx, Billy Gene's is worth the visit. Highly recommended!

Very cute restaurant. We went here because pricing and patio were highly suggested by friends who live in the area. The steak was great as well as the chicken. We were going to split the meals and the staff took the initiative to split the food up and brought it on 2 plates. Very nice and friendly staff. The patio had a great view over the river and is also dog friendly. Highly recommend it as well.

Great restaurant for dine in or take out! Ambiance, menu choices, wait staff and servers far exceeded expectations for a local restaurant. First of all, the restaurant was inviting, clean, and nestled against the Guadalupe river. As you dine in the restaurant or on the outside veranda, the view is serene and captivating. Second, the menu choices available had a healthy variety for any appetite. From appetizers, salads, extra side orders, steaks, hamburgers soups, and sandwiches to desserts that will be sure to please anyone who may have room for a little pie, cake, or cookies. Additionally, the prices were comparable to that of other restaurants in area. Lastly, the staff were friendly, consistent, and genuinely appreciated you as a guest in their restaurant. Overall, wonderful experience and worth stopping in for a bite to eat for any occasion with family, friends, or business.

What a find! The atmosphere is wonderful. We sat with a view of the river and watched the very small ducks diving for food as we ate our own food. Everything was wonderful including our waitress who was very attentive and professional. My sister was visiting from Waco so we were making a day of visiting Kerrville.

I’ve never been so excited to write a review. Tim gave us the best service we’ve had at a restaurant in atleast 10 years. Possibly the best service I’ve ever had. Didn’t have to ask for a thing. Food was great. Views were spectacular. I’m already recommending this place to all my friends and family.

Fantastic food with a look large diverse menu. My Ruben sandwich was awesome (and I'm accustomed to the ones from wurstfest) everyone's food was awesome! We all saved room for dessert, having one of almost every cobbler and pie. So good ! Can't wait to return on my next visit to Kerrville !

Beautiful view of the river on the patio, food came out SO FAST, service was excellent. Only had to wait 20 min to sit on the patio on a Sunday. My favorite item was the fried zucchini. Had the Turkey club, pretty good but wish the crossaint was toasted. My family loved their chicken fried steak! Extremely reasonable prices as well.

Good food. Good service. Great patio seating. The outside seating overlooking the river is the best thing about the place. Don't ever make the mistake of sitting inside unless the weather literally kills you. The super friendly cat is waiting for you. The guacamole burger is outstanding. The trout was good. And definitely order the onion rings as a side.

Delicious, I'm a fan of cracker barrel meatloaf but forget that place, the meatloaf here is amazing. I was debating the calf liver with onions but that will be next time. I recommend this place if you want homemade food thats delicious and priced great, plus a wonderful patio on the river.

Came here for a weekday dinner on a recommendation from a friend and we weren’t disappointed! Want a great appetizer?, get the tator kegs, they are killer! I had blackened salmon, rice, and onion rings and they were all delicious! Wife had fried pork chop and baked potato and they were excellent! Now for the service: we were promptly greeted and seated. Our waiter was Alejandro and he was great! He was pleasant, informative, and energetic! My recommendation is to go here for any meal, you will be pleased!

I really enjoyed the view from the porch here. We were visited by lots of wildlife during our meal, about 2 dozen hummingbirds, a lot of butterflies and other birds in the distace, even a stay cat walked by the river. The food paired nicely with the view. My patty melt came with bacon, which was a new one for me and a great surprise. It seemed that the restaurant favorite was the chicken fried steak. Very big portions and family friendly. Easy to spot off the main road and plenty of parking.

This place gets really crowded so plan accordingly. It was my first time here and I was very impressed. I ordered the fried catfish with fried okra and grilled vegetables. The food came out relatively quick considering the number of people eating here. If you're in the mood for some good ol' down home country cooking, this is the place for you. The prices are competitive with other local restaurants. And one last thing, the desserts here are amazing!!

What a great place!! Went on a whim while up in Kerville for a crafters market. So glad we picked Billy Gene's! First off, they're right on the Guadalupe river. We asked for a table at the windows and they were happy to accommodate. Great view! BONUS: they have hummingbird feeders along the patio, so we got to watch hummingbirds while having lunch. A male cardinal also came by. Made my day! The food was fantastic and service was pretty good. Texas sized desert options. Got banana pudding to go and they doozied it up so nice. But the hummingbirds! Nonstop entertainment. Highly recommend.

This place is so so so good! We got there right before it opens and waited outside the door. It was freezing!!! But so worth it! It got packed very quickly, so I suggest if you dont like waiting please arrive early. I had their Billie Gene burger with fries and it was pretty tasty. The other ladies I went with got the pot roast which is one of their signature dishes & meatloaf. Every one loved their food! We also shared dessert & my favorite is the strawberry cheesecake. The chocolate cake was dry & ps: its dark chocolate (my favorite but not everyone's). The cherry cobbler is so so good & the cookies are hard but soften with each bite.

Everything about this place was above expectations. I got the lunch special grilled shrimp and my friend the hamburger steak special. We had a wide variety of food between us both, and each item was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The river view was stunning even on this cold, dreary day. OMG! Billie Gene's is 5 stars in my opinion. Ourselves, Steph was very friendly, professional and was fun to talk to. I asked her about the fish sandwich and she said it was alot of fish. I ordered it and she right! It was the biggest and best fish sandwich I've ever had! It was deep fried, not greasy at all and melted in my mouth. My husband got the Saltillo chicken which was very tender and the wild rice which was very good, also. I wish we would live closer I would eat here every day!

Just visiting the area. Service was friendly, Kayla took our order, brought more tea, and gave us a to go tea. The food was yummy. They had a display of desserts, but we were so full that we didn't order any. Hubby ordered the burger and onion rings. Meat was so fresh, onion rings were light and crispy, and the batter did not fall off. I opted for the small appetite meal, but it wasn't small. I had the house salad, chili reallano soup, and 1/2 b.l.t. so good. The view was beautiful. Highly recommend.

The food was delicious! I was very pleased with the portion size, and our waitress Maryann was great! There was a wait, but there was also a sign as you walked in explaining the manning shortage, so we understood. I would definitely recommend them and will be going back.

My friend and I have lunch every Saturday at Billy Gene's. Sometimes I'll take home a dessert which I did today. It was somekind of Oreo dessert and it was incredible! This place is wonderful! We stopped here for Sunday lunch during a road trip, and even though it was before noon, the parking lot was mobbed! We got on the wait list and were seated before long. We had time to peruse the dessert case while we waited, and we knew we had to get some cake, no matter what. The interior is spacious and beautiful, with windows all along one side to provide full views of the Guadalupe River just outside. There are a variety of options for seating, all situated to optimize river views. We had a booth, but there are also tables. There is also a dog-friendly outdoor covered dining area with hummingbird feeders. Though there’s not a full bar, you can enjoy wine or bottled beer thoughtfully served with a chilled glass. Our excellent server brought outstanding hot dinner rolls right away. The menu offerings go on for several pages, and so many things sounded good that we had a tough time deciding. We were delighted with both the chicken salad sandwich and the Sunday special Chicken-fried chicken, which came with gravy on the side, mashers, green beans, and carrots. We were so full by the end of the meal that we got dessert to go — an inspired choice because both the carrot cake and the chocolate cake (a special) were among the best we have ever gotten from a restaurant. They were more than worth the splurge! By the time we left at about 1:30), there were many more people waiting than when we arrived. Billy Gene’s is a clearly loved establishment that deserves its stellar reputation. In spite of living a couple of hours away, this is a place I could happily drive just for the meal.

I had been here once before, and enjoyed the food. My friend had never been to Kerrville, and we planned to celebrate his birthday by visiting the Empty Cross. We stopped at Billy Gene's for lunch. The food was great. I ordered a steak with a side salad and a baked potato. My friend had the meatloaf special with 3 sides. We also split an order of onion rings, which were excellent.

We just ate here for lunch. Two adults and a child. The sever, I believe his name was Tim, was amazing. We had the Tuesday lunch special - battered Shrimp. They were big and delicious. For the lunch specials, they do come with set sides. If you want to change them it is a $1 charge. Instead of coleslaw, we got a side salad. I had the chicken, with bacon, cheese, and salsa. The chicken was a bit dry and hard to cook but was still yummy. The kids had a grilled cheese and changed the fries to mashed potatoes for a $1 upcharge. Her meal did come with a bottle of apple juice but we forgot it on the table. It was crowded, but we didn't feel rushed to get out. I believe it was the manager, but she came by and checked to make sure we had everything we needed.

We found Billy Gene's when in Mountain Town, TX for a wedding. This place is AMAZING!!! This resteraunt consistently had a full parking lot and was located right on the river, with a dog friendly patio so we had to check it out. Ask for Timothy B, he was our server! Tim was friendly, attentive and very helpful in our efforts to pick selections from a well stocked menu! We LOVED this place and will absolutely plan to return the next time we are near Kerrville. Highly recommend the chicken fried steak, onion rings, strawberry cake, and Texan Salad!! We loved this place so much we ate lunch and ordered additional entrees to go to enjoy later at our hotel!

Party of 4 on a Friday at noon. About half full of customers. Excellent menu selection with reasonable prices. Service was great from the start with a solid knowledge of food allergens since one of our party has dietary issues. BLT with okra and Reuben with onion rings were highlights. Some of the best rings we've had in a long time. Noise level was low so having a conversation was not difficult. The view to the river added to the experience. Parking can be a bit tricky when the restaurant is crowded.

I originally ordered takeout but when I arrived to pick it up and noticed that they allowed dogs to be with you on the patio, I was delighted! We took our food to the patio to enjoy. What a gem here! The water view was amazing but watching the hummingbirds come to the various feeders had us in awe. Food was delicious and service was extremely friendly. My sis and I were in town and decided to try BG’s for lunch. What a great idea! It was perfect weather for a table outside on the patio overlooking the sparkling water. I ordered the daily special - chicken fried chicken which came with THREE sides - squash casserole, twice baked potato and green beans. Not my usual healthy fare but hey, gotta live a little! The chicken was juicy with perfectly crispy crust and basic but fine cream gravy. The squash was way too sweet for my taste, and the potato only lukewarm, hence my removal of one star. My sister got the CFS which I thought was a little tastier. The big star of the lunch was our server, Tim. Friendliest and best waiter ever!

Diane had the lunch special chicken fried chicken with twice baked potato and squash casserole. The chicken was crispy, tender and juicy. The squash casserole was really good and the potato was also good. I did something I never do and that is order Mexican food from a non-mexican food restaurant. I ordered cheese enchiladas but the kitchen messed Up and made chicken. I just had them bring me one cheese on a plate and ate the chicken. All was good and i enjoyed the whole meal. Maryann, our server, was friendly and enjoyable. Overall it was another good experience. Overall, recommended two thumbs-up 👍 👌 2023 Just me tonight but I never pass up an opportunity to dine with ambiance. Of course it would be better with Diane. Wonderful view of the Guadalupe River and a perfect evening. Started with excellent service and menu advice from Hailey who maintained a great attitude and made everyone she served feel welcomed. Tonight I tried the chicken fried steak and fried mushrooms. The mushrooms were huge and good. While the breading looks thick, it actually was not and did not overwhelm the mushroom. Very good. The chicken fried steak was, again, lightly battered and not melt in your mouth but sufficiently tender. Overall I would come back again but one theme that could use improvement, not much seasoning. It left you wanting just a little more flavor. If you like to salt your foods then this would definitely work. I will give this thumbs-up and look forward to trying it again.👍

We found this restaurant on our way through Kerrville. We arrived a little after the lunch crowd in the afternoon. Parking lot was still pretty full. Waitress was great and attentive. Restaurant was clean despite the crowd and has a nice view of the Guadalupe. Onion ring tower was great with flavorful batter. It’s a good sign when they bring out a small bowl of Ranch without you asking for O-rings. Chicken fried steak was good. Again, batter was flavorful. Pulled pork sandwich wasn’t the best and not recommended. Overall, a good place to eat!

Wonderful restaurant with friendly staff and great food. Had the fried mushrooms, chicken fried steak and sides. Watching humming birds, cool breeze and the Guadalupe river flowing ..... Perfect way to spend a meal

Even though it was busy, the service was good. My ribeye steak didn't come out quite med-rare but was still tasty. Key lime pie was excellent but the blackberry cobbler was not what I was expecting ( if you like thick pie crust type breading on your cobbler than you will love it). If the weather is good you may enjoy sitting outside by the river.

Flavor: B Service: B Tea: A Solo dining: B The chicken fried steak, sweet potato casserole, fried okra, and rolls were all good. But nothing especially let-me-tell-you-how-great-it-was. The chicken fried steak was flavorful but not super tender and the gravy was pretty bland. Sitting out on the patio would’ve been idea but I think every table has a view of the river.

I'm traveling through and everyone I talked to recommended this place as "the best in town", but honestly it was nothing to write home about. The view from the porch over the lake was beautiful, and the food was okay (nothing wrong with it) but didn't quite live up to the hype in my opinion. I'd probably return if I was a local though.

All their burgers are cooked to medium-well unless otherwise instructed. I ordered my quacamole burger cooked medium (I thought, pink center). The center was all brown, the outside was crisp. The burger was very dry. Shameful way to treat Angus beef as advertised on their menu. My side order of onion rings arrived cold. I asked the waiter if I could have warmer ones. Daniel was very agreeable but he took my entire plate while I was still eating my burger. He returned shortly with a basket of hot onion rings but did not return a plate. My wife's order included a chicken croissant sandwich that had only a slight amount of chicken salad and whole lot of croissant. We we underwhelmed considering the crowd that was there for a Monday lunch. On the positive side the view of the Guadeloupe River was pretty nice.

I Found Billy Genes on Google! Looked like a nice Spot right by the River! We walk in and most of the crowd was older (65+), so I start wondering if I came to the right place or not 🤔👀. So we get seated everything looks clean and nice, we dat outside by the river, beautiful! I look over the menu and I Get the Deep Friend Chicken Fried Chicken with a side of Mashed potatoes and brown gravy and green beans. My lady orders the B.L.T. sandwich with mashed potatoes. The food arrives about 20 minutes later, everything looks good and fresh. I start eating the Chicken fried chicken, nice Crispy Hand Battered Texture and Super Underseasoned, I used extra hot sauce to amp the flavor up! Now the Mashed Potatoes were he made, but super Underwhelming with absolutely no flavor, I passed over it twice with salt and pepper😮, the greens beans were super bland, I saw one tiny piece of bacon in them, it's gonna need a lot more because they had Zero flavor. My wife offered the BLT and she really liked it, but did not care for the bland mashed potatoes either. In the beginning we ordered the Appetizer sampler which was Huge for 10.99, super great hand breaded stuff, my Favorite was the huge Fried Mushrooms dipped in ranch, but the batter could have used a little more seasoning as well and theyd be great! All in all I have to give them a 6.5 out of 10, because food was fresh but very bland. I think there catering to the older crowd, which is fine, because I know this restaurant has the Ability to amp up there Flavors/Spices and It should!! I'd go, but only for the big huge salads I saw on the way out and to sit by the river!! That's my take on the Billy Gene! Thanks!

Not bad, I ordered the bacon sirloin. I feel like they took a bunch of ground beef and formed it to look like steak then cooked it like a burger…. lol. It’s not bad but it’s not really a steak in my opinion. Otherwise the servers are very nice

The view of the river is very nice. The service was great and the restaurant itself was clean and a good atmosphere. I was very disappointed with the food. The meatloaf looked like it came from a can and didn’t taste well, the mashed potatoes were very plain. The pulled pork sandwich was also plain. I highly recommend you try other dishes as other peoples plates at other tables looked good. Tried the banana pudding and that was lacking as well.

The service was excellent; our waitress was attentive and friendly. The food was decent, though nothing particularly memorable. We enjoyed sitting outside in the calm and relaxing atmosphere of the water.

Not sure what all these reviews are talking about, but unfortunately it wasn’t it. The food did not hit the mark. Service was good and fast, but the food needs more flavor. It felt very store bought and no home made.

Our waitress was kind and for as busy as they were pretty attentive. We have eaten here many many times, but the quality of the food has gotten worse each time. Hy husband ordered his usual favorite. came in for some liver and onions with my family this evening, and as I was eating, I saw a live bug crawling around in my food. My whole family couldn't keep eating because of this.  I reported it, and they still made us pay for our meal. This thing was a beetle, so it didn't fly into the meals it was made with it. I couldn't imagine what their kitchen looks like. Avoid this place!!

I ordered a brisket sandwich I don’t believe what they gave me is edible. Every time I asked someone to smell it they had a visible jaw dropping reaction because it smelled so bad. All the meat felt wet and fatty. I only asked for no onions, but they didn’t leave the pickles and sauce too. Never ordering this again.

We love the food here. The only complaint I have is getting dirty dishes to eat on. It absolutely grossed me out :/.

This was my second time here & unfortunately both times (2 years apart) were disappointing. Service is great & view in the outdoor seating is great! The food is a let down for sure. No flavor. The fried zucchini had good flavor but the zucchini slices are too thin resulting in each piece being mostly breading. Chicken fried steak could have used salt & other seasonings. I wish I would have gotten a pic of the side salad: pool of water at the bottom, just 2 slices of each: tomato, onion and cucumber. My smothered chicken was definitely smothered. Flavor of the actual chicken was good but way too much salsa. Rolls are super dry. We won’t be back.
