Having lived in / around NYC, Boston and DC, and frequented SF, Chicago, Miami, and a bunch of other places in the US, I can say with confidence that Stockade is my favorite bar in the United States. Nowhere else I've found has cocktails of this quality served without pretention.

Awsum awsum awsum, THE best place in town for high end cocktails. I've never seen actual mixologists at work , before I saw these guys at work I was positive that this kind of place would be snooty but I was amazed at how warm and inviting the staff are . I want to make sure I give a very special spotlight to the Charismatic Kendal . They are now doing outdoor seating!!!!!

For those who like their drinks with a little flair and a lot of history. One of the few bars in the area where you can ask the bartender for "something with whiskey, but not fruity" and the drink you'll receive will be better than anything you could have come up with yourself. Light snacks are available every night, with the pretzels and doughnuts being the crowd favorite on the weekends. It can get pretty busy on the weekends (especially Fridays), and the nature of the cocktails means each takes a bit of time to make, so it's best to have patience when you see the four people behind the bar catering to a packed house. I highly recommend going during the week, having a Roadrunner (rye whiskey and amaro plus some magical other ingredients) which enjoying an open faced sandwich with roast beef from nearby Fleischer's.

Stockade Tavern is the premiere speakeasy in uptown Kingston. The bar has minimal street advertising, and it sits opposite the old New York State Senate house. The interior is exactly what you'd expect to find in the storied neighborhood. The drink menu varies by season, but you will always find classic prohibition era drinks, and proprietary mixes as well. Small plates are also offered, and a late night menu is offered after the kitchen closes.

As always one of my favorite spots whenever I'm in Kingston. Great vibe, AMAZING cocktails, and some delish bar snacks. A definite must visit for anyone in Kingston.

This place is a mood. It's a very trendy, hipster spot for great drinks. Bartenders spend time to make each drink to perfection. Drinks are pricier than your run of the mill corporate restaurants (not by much) but you're paying for the entire experience, which is worth it. Dark mood lighting and jazz playing in the background makes for a night that could have been in NYC if you didn't know you were in Kingston. Great place for a trendy drink (or more).

This place is gorgeous (pressed tin gilded ceilings, chandeliers, flowers) with a variety of delicious cocktails (like the Holly McClane!) and food that is equally excellent (sliders, homemade soft pretzel). Great for dates and small groups. Cannot recommend enough!

I had an absolutely amazing time tonight at this quiet hideaway! When we arrived, i was instantly reminded by the sign and door of the Apotheke bar in NY which I’ve always been a fan of. To top it off, once i entered the threshold i was immediately greeted with a smiling face and seated at a table where i placed my order for a lovely snack and a delightfully sophisticated cocktail. The cocktail was both well balanced and complex while not being too far out there and was easily the best part of my night tonight. I would definitely consider stopping here again and will highly recommend to friends and such.

A brilliant bar that really cares about the quality of the cocktails they serve. The food isn't the main attraction, though they have nice snack food to compliment the drinks. The owners are very hands on, kind people and the bartenders are cool and clearly care about their craft. Overall a very pleasant place to have a good time and enjoy some original, and classic, cocktails.

INCREDIBLE cocktails! Best we've ever had!

We're hanging out at the dive bar down the road and the bartender there recommended we come here for some good drinks. And my oh my were they good. I never believed in the science of mixology or that a mixologist was a skilled tradesmen. But the old man who made our drinks must have been the Gordon Ramsey of Bartending. Your average bartender is a frycook by comparison. I had a few of their signature cocktails as well as a Manhatten and an old fashioned; my go-to drink so I've had a lot of them from a lot of different places, and never in my decades of life have I tasted such a perfectly mixed old fashioned. It was sublime and I doubt I'll taste its equal again in this lifetime unless I find myself in Kingston again and this man happens to be behind the bar once more. He also whipped up some scratch-made eggnog with alcohol and it was exquisite.

How many times can we tell everyone we know to go here? Lauren, Jenny, Paul, and the rest of the team all deserve so much love for the hard work and dedication. I bet you (the potential customer) are reading this saying, "Is this place any good?" The short answer is a resounding "YES!" We have been regulars for years and for good reason. This is amongst the few establishments in all of Kingston that gives a damn about their cocktails and food. The details, the atmosphere & generally good conversations are a byproduct of the culture that has been carefully cultivated. So here, spend your money, you won't be disappointed!

Don’t believe any review under 5 stars. No, they don’t really have food, just snacks. There are other bars in Kingston that do certain things better, but in terms of just getting a drink and hanging out this place is unparalleled. It gets busy because the drinks and the vibes are great, but I’ve always gotten amazing service too. If I lived just a little closer I’d basically live here.

Cocktails were amazing and well worth the wait to be handcrafted. Staff was very friendly and the owner was super cool as well. Food was also very good and good portions for tapas. Wish we lived closer so we could frequent this place. Nice ambience as well. Loved it!

A really cool spot in uptown Kingston. The ambiance is great - dim lighting, no TVs, cool artwork. The drinks are delicious and unique. The service has always been great and they remember you when you come in! Never too crowded, good music, great place!

Stopped in here bar hopping, great atmosphere, take their cocktails seriously but not too seriously. Our server really took care of us, even though it was a busy Saturday night. Highly recommend and will be back!

I had a bubble bee... quite possibly the best cocktail I’ve ever had ...shaken to perfection. Tart and cold and frothy! With a rum kick that says I’m not a kiddie cocktail. Atmosphere was lovely. Inventive with their choice of ingredients. You can't ask for a better and more approachable staff. A gentleman who seemed to be the owner or manager was the first to greet us. I have great appreciation for the ability of a owner to be able to run an establishment with such a consistent hand, while using the other to stock liquor, polish glasses, and refill an ice well. Service is truly five stars, and their product follows suit.

It’s a world class cocktail bar in Kingston, NY. I’ve been to the famous cocktail bars in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, New Orleans, etc.... Stockade is the best of them. The staff’s skill and the elegance of the drinks are exceeded only by their warmth and hospitality.

I live a half hour away from this bar and this is still the place I go when I want to have some drinks with friends. This is a true cocktail bar in the pre-prohibition style, with a fantastic cocktail menu and a knowledgable and skilled staff who can take your requests and run with it. I asked for a stirred genevere cocktail and got something beautiful and balanced where the funk was tamed without being overwhelmed. I asked for a shaken cocktail with Ardbeg and got something that slowly evolved in each sip that made the intense peaty scotch work its way through a sweet medicinal first impression that turned into a long smokey finish. One warning I will give is that you should probably have at least a light meal before coming. They have some fantastic food, but they are appropriately bar sized portions, things to be nibbled on as you sip your drink, and not stuff meant to fill you up. Really, this place is a great experience, from the moment you sit down and are given a tumbler and glass bottle full of water, to when the bartender wishes you a good night as you head out the door.

We have been all over Kingston and this is by far the best cocktail bar in the area. Their espresso martini which is stirred not shaken with a salty creamy foam on top is by far the best espresso martini i have ever had: all of their cocktails have been shockingly delightful their small collection of bar snacks is also a revelation: perhaps the best chicken liver mousse i have had. we have been here for two days and as i sit here writing this i am enjoying my 5 th serving of their haiwan chex mix. The staff is so sweet, Lia may just be the best bartender in the hudson valley. so sweet and skilled and professional: i can't say enough good things about this place. vibes, drinks, food and service. amazing

Stockade Tavern is one of the best bars in Kingston, thanks to the level of creativity and craftsmanship from the owners to the incredible and personable bartenders that work here. The drinks are thoughtfully crafted even down to the type of ice used. Every drink is well balanced and delicious. No showy, flashy drinks required when you have the level of craftsmanship that the folks at Stockade have. I would like to give Lia and Sasha a shout out for their hospitality and great conversation. Watching Sasha make drinks, for example...the seamless way Sasha shakes the shaker is mesmerizing to watch. The atmosphere is lively without being too crowded or obnoxious. Stockade Tavern really knows how to draw in and retain their customers. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Stockade. I'm thankful to have found such a comfortable and fun environment to have a drink and feel at home.

What a gem of a place! I sat outside with some friends - we ordered inside and a server brought the drinks out. To my surprise they have cynar and were willing to make a cynar spritz! Delicious. I also tried the pineapple margarita, too. Refreshing. It's really cute inside. Yet, this lovely night could have been a bad memory. Buzzing on good drinks, atmosphere and conversation, I left my (beloved, expensive) sunglasses behind...gasp! The staff not only rescued them, but were willing to make sure they made their way back to me. 10/10 for Stockade Tavern. Will come again and again.

Great place to go for a drink either on a date or with friends. Place is pretty spacious and always has a good crowd. Staff are great even when busy and the drinks are fantastic. Their menu is pretty extensive and imaginative and of the drinks we’ve had they’ve all been great. They do serve snacks and food which we haven’t had but we’ve heard good things!

Hidden cocktail bar with a small munchies menu. Beautiful but simple design hardwood walls and furniture. Good music and a crowd that leans to the late twenty-somethings. My only complaint is that the dark wood interior makes the low lighting seem even darker.

I experienced this eclectic place on Friday. Excellent service and the tenders of the bar area are not only attentive and friendly, but skilled, creative, and true artisans of mixing. I could have sat at a table, but would have missed the entertainment of the mixologists!! Music gives a Louisianna feel. A must do visit for anyone looking for relaxing fun evening!

I probably visited during the worst time of the year, but my fiancee and I came to celebrate New Year's. It was very loud and very little space to move around. We were also charged $5 per person to enter, which could have been worse, but the drinks were a little expensive and according to their menu, there weren't many options. Also, being that we came here to drink, it was almost impossible to get to the bar because of all of the people. The staff was very pleasant though. I might consider returning again on a night that isn't too packed.

If you're trying to impress your date, this is your best option in the area. Atmosphere is great, songs weren't atrocious, bartenders know what they're doing. In my case, I was not trying to impress anyone. The negronis were good but also kind of a rip off? 4 negronis and a pretzel came out to $78 before tip. Both rounds we ordered came out missing one of our two drinks, which is not a big deal until the bill shows up. I go to basically the same place in Brooklyn, spend less, and get great service from experienced waitstaff. We'll avoid this place next time we're in Kingston, but options in the area are slim and you might love it!

It's LUCKY to receive 1 star, the drinks were great, the ABSOLUTE worst customer service. Never would revisit if it was the last bar on the planet.

This place is a joke. The drinks are well made worth the money and much talent and quality is put into the drinks but you just gotta laugh at the relationship between the employees and the " special elect" customers. Its so funny watching the employees put on a disingenuous persona and facade the first round of drinks and appetizers then completely disregard you afterwards
