It was exceptionally superb!!! Go for the Mexican Chocolate Stout...yummmm! Had the aguacate tacos, 5+ on those! The customer service is outstanding. The owner even makes his way to the table! A huge thumbs up!!! A MUST VISIT!! Great setting, clean restrooms and friendly service from the while staff! Thanks!
I have been going to La Reforma regularly for two years now. Really love this place. The food is excellent, fresh, and authentic Mexican. The beer and liquor is all made in house and is great. The staff are always friendly, hard working, and efficient. Highly recommended.
Fantastic spot. Great food! The Javi salad has me coming back every time. Drinks are always delicious and fun music can always be heard but at a reasonable volume for a bar so I appreciate that. Plenty of room for a larger party and the parking is never a problem.
Everything is good about this place - the food is fresh, great-tasting and eclectic, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is laid back and pleasing. We will return over and over again.
Wonderful little place! They've set up outdoor dining in their parking lot with tents and lights and heaters. It was my first time there and my first time eating out since COVID started 6 months ago, and they did such a good job. The food is delicious, the beer is wonderful. It was recommended to me by a friend and now I'll be recommending it to others.
Fantastic drinks, food, service, atmosphere, and owner. Thank you for a great experience and recommendations for the rest of our trip!
We came in for lunch today. This is a nice place with excellent service and a pleasant atmosphere. I would say that the prices are affordable, the drinks were excellent, and the service was very prompt and courteous. They also have an extensive menu with multiple unique, delicious options. I loved their al pastor torta and appetizer quesadillas! Highly recommended. I wish they offered some non-spicy salsa options, which they do not have, unfortunately. That will be only minor criticism.
I was genuinely pleased with how things went. The manager or owner made sure the employee assisting me was supported and that I had everything I needed for my food pickup. That kind of attention and care didn’t go unnoticed. Thank you for making it a positive experience!
I love the vibe here and the food? Awesome! Brenda was exceptionally helpful with my questions and service! Gotta give the staff who fixed our meal a BiG KUDOs Too! I forgot to take photos cuz it looked so good and was too hungry to stop to do that! Grin! Next time for sure! The 3 tacos (you get to pick the variety of meat choice) and dessert wa the churros with cajeta glaze! Sweet and served warm! Oh yes! I may live in the South Valley area, but this is so worth the drive here to visit and eat! Thank you La Reforma Restaurant.
La Reforma offers a somewhat modest menu with regular specials that deliver outstanding flavor with every item they serve. They stick to a few ideas but do them extremely well. In-house spirits and their own original selection of beers set them apart from other breweries. Modern style tacos, tortas, and burritos all a hit, but my favorite the quesadilla will rock your world! COVID conscious, heaters upon request, friendliest and most attentive staff one can ask for, WILL become a regular hangout for you as it has for me and my friends! CHEERS!
subdued lights with bar atmosphere but food quality was excellent - the chef javi salad was very refreshing with unique ingredients and the option of white fish was nice for those of us avoiding pork and meat
Carnitas bowl had tender meat, mild flavor, spicy sauce on side. Our group of 6 adults and baby enjoyed evening meal and drinks. Pitcher of water and cups were welcome.
UPDATE: We ate at La Reforma again last night, and it was just as delightful as the first time! (Consistency is important in a restaurant.) The service was perfect--thanks Averie!--he dropped by at good intervals, NEVER interrupted our conversation, answered questions and offered tastes of samples of things we wanted to try. (We ended up buying a bottle of their delicious rum because he let us taste it!) Did I mention this place is also a distillery? The El Tri (watermelon drink) was absolutely delicious! We also went home with a crowler (32 oz. can growler) of it to enjoy later. We had the nachos with Al Pastor meat on top, and a few tacos. I REALLY like the Carne Asada, and I think I'll have the loaded fries with it on top again next time. I thought it was genius to have about 5-6 kinds of meat and serve them in so many different ways! You can get each of the meats made into tacos, burritos, salads, mini Mexico City-style tacos (like empanadas, apparently), on nachos, or on French fries. I'm sure there are other ways, too. These are the ones I remember. We sat in the room off to the right of the main room, and it was a little more intimate. It was a little darker and quieter, and in addition to the usual tables with chairs and bar-height tables, there were comfy chairs around lower tables that would be a nice place to sit and chat over drinks with friends. The music was just the right volume to add ambience but be completely unobtrusive and make it easy to talk. We really enjoyed ourselves again, and we already have plans to go back. Previous visit: This place was awesome! Jeff the owner chatted with us and let us sample a lot of drinks, and I found this DELICIOUS watermelon drink that I now love. The asada fries are delicious, and we loved the pollo asado tacos. Yum!
Found this place while looking for a place to eat for father's day because every other place was really busy. The food was delicious! I got the quesadilla de carne asada and it was great. And in addition, the server was on top of things and his services were on point! Highly recommend this place.
What a tremendous “Brand Experience”. Of course you can get great Tacos and Burritos any where in the South West…. However, it was very apparent that this place created their own version of staple Hispanic inspired Cuisine. We loved it… I could only imagine how awesome their distilled and brew spirits were! If they’re half as good as their food, this will be your favorite eatery in the area.
I’m sitting here now…looking at my empty plates…pissed that I didn’t eat slower! I got two tacos and the salad (absolutely delicious) and it was the perfect amount. I think if I skipped the salad 3 or 4 tacos would have been good. Pescado- stupid good. Aguacate- great pallet cleaners between the beers and food. Would absolutely come back and recommend.
We got Reforma Rita and Diana, both margaritas are great and instead of salt around the rim, they have spicy salt which is new to us. Loved it. Pozole is awesome which is mildly spicy and their churros are so crunchy every bite is a joy. We also had Javi's salad and I got the jalapeno ranch dressing which was a good choice.
This is one of our top 3 favorite spots in ABQ. The food is bomb (al pastor burrito, bowl, and tacos are so good!), the atmosphere is perfect for date night, family night (kids of all ages), or grabbing drinks with friends/colleagues, the drinks are delicious (and can buy some to go!), the price is right, and the staff compliments it all like a cherry on top. It's a "must-try" and "so glad you did" type of spot.
Great place for a beer and food. The CDMX were fire. Got the salad with Al pastor meat and ranch dressing. Let just says all the plates were clean in the end. Oh delicious tortas too.
We come here all the time, about once a week. Both the food and the drinks are fantastic. There are plenty of great beers and cocktails that you can only get here, since they're also a brewery+distillery. Because everything is made in-house, it's also very affordable. In my opinion, their nachos are the best in town -- try them al pastor! If you haven't been here before, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won't be sorry!
We were skipping work on a Friday afternoon to take a long lunch, and everything was great. We couldn't decide, so had both margaritas and beer - in that order! The queso and salsa were delicious - with a subtle little kick. I got the Carne Asada burrito, and it was HUGE. I will probably get at least 2 more yummy meals from it. We spent two hours there, and our server never forgot about us. I can't remember when I have had such amazing service. I'm definitely adding this place to our regular lunch rotation.
First time, found them in google, super delicious fresh food made with love, welcoming and relaxing ambience, great customer service, we tried the tacos, fries, pozole and the churros with ice cream, everything was perfect. This place made my day better and I’ll bring everyone that I know , highly recommended.
Fabulous brewpub with great beers and tasty foods. I chose La Reforma for my ABQ meetup and it turned out quite well. I was early and found a nice table with a power outlet. A beer later, I'm feeling mellow and enjoying my time here for sure. Chicken quesadilla and the carne asada fries not only looked fantastic, they tasted delicious. Easy shareables, huge portions and reasonable prices. I had a lovely evening at La Reforma.
We've been coming here for several years now, and it's always a great meal. My favorite move is to get a cup of the posole, and two tacos. I love the fish tacos, but all of them are great. The posole is among my favorite in town, which is saying something because of how many other places there are to get posole in town. Recently they've started making some of their own liquors, and I love the anejo. The anejo Margarita is fantastic. They also offer a nice selection of beers. The quesadillas are massive and my kids always get them and leave very satisfied. The atmosphere is lively and open, and it's usually quite busy. If you want to avoid the rush, go on a weekday. If you go at prime dinner time on a Friday or Saturday, expects to have a bit of a wait. Either way, it's worth the trip!
The food here is amazing! More than one person in our party stated these are the best tacos I’ve ever eaten. The food is simple but delicious. The drinks….don't get me started. I wholeheartedly recommend.
Stopped at La Reforma during a business trip and came away very impressed. Great food, drinks and vibes. Service was also outstanding. Even during peak hours my waitress was very attentive. The food was perfect. Had the carne asada torta and it was probably one of the best ones I’ve ever had (I’ve had many). Perfectly cooked and very filling. Those chefs know what they’re doing. Topped it off with a Golden West IPA - delicious. Can’t wait to be return!
My buddy lives in the neighborhood and said the place was good so we went with him. Food was great. Really good nachos for appetizers. Had a quesadilla and a taco it was great. Churro for dessert was great too. They have a good drink menu and service was fast. Overall I would recommend
Holy wow! The tacos were so good! Carne asada was my favorite! I'm from socal and frequent Ensenada and Tijuana, Mexico, so I have had a ton of tacos in my day. I've never had better yellow corn tortilla tacos. On top of that the service was so speedy and friendly! Will be going back for sure 🫠🔥🔥
If you’re looking for a spot in Albuquerque that perfectly blends a vibrant atmosphere with high-quality Mexican street food, La Reforma is a must-visit. The menu is packed with hits, but the Carne Asada Fries are a standout—perfectly crispy, loaded with savory steak, and great for sharing. For the main event, the Al Pastor Tacos offer that essential balance of marinated pork and pineapple that hits the spot every time. Be sure to save room for their decadent desserts, which provide a rich, sweet finish to a flavorful meal. The location on San Mateo offers a sleek, industrial-style space that is easy to get to (right off of Alameda at 25) and sets a great vibe. Between the great food and the fun, lively energy, it’s easily one of the best casual dining spots in the area.
Great experience at La Reforma! The food was very tasty and full of flavor. The churros con cajeta were absolutely top-notch — easily a highlight of the meal. Friendly service and nice atmosphere. Definitely a place worth coming back to!
Came here looking for the elote in November. Please note the elote is seasonal in May. We got quesadillas, nachos, and fries. Quesadillas have oregano which gives it a really good flavor. The music is on point! The only con was they were very aggressive at clearing our trays when we were still eating. First guy asked and we said we were still working on it. The second waitress came and said you looked done and just took it(this is why I took one star for service).
Very nice locally owned option for surprisingly HIGH quality Mexican food. I've now been to La Reforma twice and I strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal. On my recent visit I had the Delicious Chef's salad and it was really good. The field greens were fresh and the grilled chicken was nicely seasoned and tasted great.
We stopped in for lunch and a few drinks before heading to a concert at Balloon Fiesta Park, and I’m so glad we chose La Reforma. After checking out the area, this place stood out as the closest highly rated restaurant and it did not disappoint. We were greeted by Sean, who was tending bar and, as we found out, is also a manager. Sean was fantastic friendly, welcoming, and full of great recommendations. He even shared a bit of La Reforma’s history, which added a nice personal touch to our visit. We tried several of their mixed drinks, sampled a few of their beers, and had the nachos with queso dip. Everything was delicious and well-prepared. On top of that, the atmosphere is great comfortable, relaxed, and inviting. If I were a local, this would definitely be one of my go-to spots. Highly recommend!
Very attentive service! And our food came super fast! I was so surprised. Pozole and chefs salad were so tasty! Not many places serve pozole with fresh cabbage, which I appreciate. Salad was amazing, and I wish there could be more other ingredients rather than greens. I look forward to coming back and trying different food.
Rolled up exhausted and starving with my picky first grader, had tacos al pastor (delicious, with a properly spicy serrano salsa and a milder red) and the dark Mexican lager, and got my kiddo fries and a pile of taco chicken in a cardboard bowl. Kiddo loved the food and ate enough that we even went on to eat churros con cajeta for dessert. Great spot, great food, great service, and super close to the highway so we didn’t have to go far off our route.
Greatly enjoyed several tacos...carnitas, pollo asada, and carne asada, all delicious! Friendly customers, gave me recommendations on what to try for my next visit, as well. Their recommendation for the beer was on point, the Maximilian dark lager was fantastic, and I also enjoyed the Mexican Choco Stout. Definitely plan to return! ***Second visit, had carnitas tacos and Maximilian. Recommended side was not the beans, but their pozole, for a slight upcharge. Been money I ever spent! So nice, I ate it twice! And I previously was unaware that the corn tortillas are their handmade pride and joy...but they really are perfect! 10/17/2024
I am so glad we stopped at this restaurant. The fact that people were waiting in line confirmed what I thought. Our wait time was about 15 minutes and we were so lucky to have Aspen as our waitress. She was so nice and friendly and made our visit to Albuquerque memorable. The food was great , got some quesadillas and the drinks were so good . A margarita/cocktail is $8.95 and you get a lot. Definitely put this place on your list especially if you are near the balloon fiesta park .
The carne asada was tasty not traditionally flavor but it was good. The carnitas were juicy great flavor not dry at all. The al pastor authentic flavor it had a touch of how they do it in Mexico. I like to make their own tortillas, the salsas remind me of the authentic Mexican salsa especially from Mexico City.
Carne asada quesadilla was great tasting and easily sharable. Chips, guac, and salsa had good flavor. Tacos were okay. I'm from Los Angeles and spoiled with street tacos that are the same size and half the price. Other than the tacos, the food was reasonably priced. Trulia (hazy IPA) was the only beer I tried, but they had many other options that they brew in house.
Nice place with some interesting twists on some classic dishes. Smooth distilled spirits that sneak up on ya if you're not careful. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves.
Food was good, not great. Drinks were good. Probably better if you like beer. Service was good. Sat at bar and staff was friendly. They did have RedZone on, so they get +1 for that. I likely wouldn't return but may recommend depending on what someone was into
Came by for lunch craving tacos. So I ordered the 3 tacos and a side item deal. I ordered Al Pastor taco, Pescado (fish) taco, the Aguacate taco and some seasoned fries. Out of the 3, my favorite was the Al Pastor taco. So much flavor with a hint of sweet. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.
The prickly pear g&t has an interesting twist of flavors more so the botanical's, Paloma a little too much on the light side for flavor, Maximilian is great flavored on the front end and way easy on the back end, Reforma margarita has a big question on what your tasting and how you feel about it, the carne asada fries a little on the dry side but good flavor, quesadillas are great on flavor and great with the drinks...love the atmosphere and staff are very attentive
Finally I had a chance to try this place. I had heard many good things about this brewery/Mexican restaurant. I love the ambiance with lots of are frames and temperature was really refreshing with Albuquerque’s hot summer. I ordered Resposato Rita margarita and I fell in love with it, oaky and not too sweet that’s why I couldn’t order other cocktails ( had two of that ) then we had their signature salad that was fantastic with watermelon chunks in it . Then we got some tacos and toritas . Food was delicious but not special. I will go back for sure mostly because I want to try other cocktails then other dishes. I will give them solid 4 ⭐️.
This was my third time going, and I really wanted to like it! The food continues to fall very flat and in my opinion is pretty flavorless, my friend agreed and she got totally different things than me. We were told that our server was pretty slammed last night, but I kept seeing her just hanging out at the server station, chatting it up for quite a while not even on the computer, so that was a little bothersome. We finally had to get the manager to take our order. The drinks are pretty good and the atmosphere is fun enough. I really wish they would get some better recipes and make it more flavorful, it certainly has potential.
It is ok. This is an expected type of establishment one might see or experience in Columbus, OH or MSP or Madison, WI. For it to be in ABQ, feels and tastes out of place. That being said it is reasonable prices and spacious environment and food quality probably changes throughout the week based on how busy it is. Disfruta.
First time visiting this location. It is OK as far as food goes. The service was great and the atmosphere is amazing but it’s a Taqueria. It’s supposed to have hot food. It is boring, bland, plain, no expression of Mexican at all Taco Bell salsa and asking for jalapeños on your nachos, gets you two or three pickled jalapeños, which have zero bite. Disappointing but could satisfy a bland, boring palette.
La Reforma should have serve a Huarache very common in the DF. The carne asada on the torta was over done. It would make a difference if it was skirt steak. The meat was cut into cubes, maybe to move away from being over cooked. The avocado on the torta had a citric additive taste with some sort of jalapeno juice added. I always love refried beans smeared on the bun, not there. I am familiar with a Michelada's having lived where farm labor buses would stop at a 7/11 or other stores. The field workers would leave with a six pack and clamato. Clamato and the right beer makes it work. The La Reforma mix tasted old, or needed to be brought back to the drawing table. The flagship beer simply did not have the ability for drinkability. I was disappointed. My grandson has the way for winning restaurants. I am sorry he did not win on this one.
nice open space for dining . great art . the 2 taco pollo was cold . shredded cheese - not melted . - the tacos were small . tortillas small . amount of chicken, small . the food was disappointing . they have margaritas but only on the rocks & they fill that glass UP w ice . the drink was disappointing . they Do have Brew Lab cider which is good . and the art is really good . all the art is same artist but not noted anywhere . just for the curious - it would be cool . i hate to say I won't go back . maybe there's something better on the menu . maybe I should have just gone with cider . but those tacos - street tacos are so much better
I have been to this establishment three times in the last month. Food is delicious wonderfully prepared always perfect. Then there's the staff. Oh my God, what are they finding every single time I get the worst freaking service I took I try to be nice to them. They all seem constipated unfriendly obviously don't want to be there. Don't wanna deal with customers. I sat and watch Sixth of the group talk about a party this weekend while completely ignoring the customers. I will don't know if the management issue? But it would be a great restaurant if the servers had a better attitude watch another set of customers get ready to get into a fight with the waitress because she was so freaking bad. Seriously guys at the grass restaurant clear, clean up your staff teach them how to take care of their customers. Smiling is free being decent to the customers is free
All food was very bland. Corn tortillas served cold. The only food with spice was the salsa that had sooo much cumin that it drowned out all other flavors. They need a Mexican mom to show them how it's done.
I’ve always had a great experience but today totally ruined it for me. It was 11 of us for a work happy hour. And although I understand that they have limits to sizes on Fridays, the manager Joel was very rude and unprofessional. If they had a problem with the size of the group then why sit us down to begin with? Half of us had not even received our food yet and the manager told us we had 20 minutes to finish up and leave. He kept hovering over our table the whole time as well counting Down the time and really made us all very uncomfortable. The waitress was amazing she tried to make us comfortable as best as she could. We weren’t even being roudy or too loud. And we easily spent over 300 dollars. The food was good. But the manager totally ruined everything. I’ve been here many times with large groups and have never experienced this kind of treatment. The worst part of it all was that there was plenty of tables available when we where there. We even gave up one of our tables and Joel said they didn’t need it. So I don’t understand why this guy had to be so rude. This has put a stain in what was once a good place to hang out. If you have a large group think twice before coming. I added a photo of the empty table next to us to show how “busy” it was.
We went there with high hopes there would be a new, favorite, neighborhood eatery we could put on our list. I ordered the El Tri cocktail. They tempted me with the photo on their website of a pinkish cocktail with a slice of watermelon on the rim and it was very tasty but "where's the alcohol"? For $8.50 one would expect to taste something besides just mixer. After the drink, I thought I would switch to wine, no wine so I ordered a La Ref lager, very light and smooth, not bad, $5.50 for a 16 oz glass. For an appetizer, we ordered chips & salsa. For $9.50 we were expecting something besides just chips on a tray with salsa & guacamole, maybe for that price, delicacies on the side to go with the chips like several different salsas and a bean dip? No. For an entree, I ordered the Carnitas burrito. A generous amount of rice & beans but where's the meat? I unwrapped it after I got home to see. For $12, I would expect the portion of meat in this large burrito to be predominant. My husband had no complaints about the Carne Asada Torta, it was okay, more meat than the burrito. Will we be eating there again? No. The food was okay, nothing to write home about, rather bland. The check totaled $64.17 (not including the tip) not much for your buck. Even if the food stays bland, La Reforma could improve by not being so stingy with the alcohol, appetizer and meat. For what you get here, this place is wwaayy over-priced!
Came here for a work event. Food was good, drinks were good, servers from the servers were good, however the manager, Joel was extremely rude. Helicoptered around our table for over an hour and kept giving us a count down for how long we were allowed to stay. We (12 people) continuously ordered food and drinks while there were available tables here and there. Upon arriving to our reservation, we were told that we only have 1.5 hours to eat stay and leave “once everyone arrives”. Before everyone even arrived we were continuously given a countdown to when we had to leave. This put so much pressure and was so incredibly unreasonable. I’ve served at a small restaurant for 5 years, and we would be dammed to ever kick anybody out while actively ordering and eating. I have never ever been to any restaurant where we were given a time limit for being present and eating and ordering. In addition, after asking if there was any written policy to backup what they were saying, we were told there was no written policy. This is such poor management and was dealt with very poorly. There is no line out the door, there are open tables. We will not be back. I still cannot believe we were told that we will be kicked out while literally actively ordering and eating. I have never been in this situation at any restaurant in my life. I don’t typically ever write 1 star reviews or complain, but this is absolutely ridiculous.
Love me some tacos so decided to bring my mom out to lunch. I inquired about the nachos but was told by the waitress it was not cheddar cheese but simply melted cheese. The melted cheese gets too cold fast so we decided against ordering. We ended up ordereing El Pastor tacos and carnita tacos. We were pretty bummed they didn't have anything different then the rest of the taco places. Would have been nice to see Lengua or tripa but we settled for what they had. We liked the tacos but disappointed because the corn tortillas were cold. We also decided to try their aqua frescas and it was yummy. My mom finished her before the meal came out and ordered a refill. We also ordered the chips w/ salsa and guacamole. That was really good. I was happy they use real Avocados. Anyhow, I asked for the check and noticed that they charged me for my moms refill on her Agua fresca, the waitress did not inform us that these drinks did not come with refills and that we would be charged. That was disheartening that she did not communicate this, I honestly would have still requested a refill but I absolutely hate surprise charges. Needless to say I most likely will not return, they did not have any options unlike any restaurant close to me and more pricey than the local taco trucks. There was quite a few people drinking so they may have good beer. If you read my review, please hit the like button. Thank you!
Went there because of a AARP discount. They did not honor it. The server said they don't offer the discount and have asked for it to be taken down. The owner Jeff came over and acted like he never new about it and asked for a picture of it. He said other restaurants have complained about non authorized discounts. It is obvious that they have received the request but before because the server was aware of it but the owner Jeff acted like he didn't know about it. Why would he ask for it to be taken down when it is driving in business and he just denies it. Service was bad also as our nachos were delivered to table next to us and they said I think we got your nachos. I would not recommend this place. I will not be going back. Horrible experience!
My husband visited your restaurant for the first time yesterday with a group of colleagues for lunch at approximately 1 pm and ordered pollo asado. However, my husband, who is clearly of Indian descent, was served carne asada instead. Carne asada refers to beef, and the level of disregard and disrespect shown by your establishment is astonishing. Hindus abstain from consuming beef due to their religious beliefs. He took a bite, trusting that your restaurant would provide him with the food he ordered. This situation is incredibly disrespectful. You did not offer to rectify the mistake, and this was witnessed by his colleagues, all of whom understand that this is morally unacceptable. Please retrain your employees and cultivate empathy.
We decided to try La Reforma tonight after seeing their Instagram the photos looked amazing and gave the impression of a fun, lively place. Unfortunately, the reality was very different. The atmosphere was subpar from the moment we sat down, flat energy, uncomfortable vibe, and service that made us feel more like an inconvenience than a guest. Our server seemed irritated from the start, especially when I decided to order dinner before the rest of my party. Even the busser and food runner acted like they didn’t want to be there. The food itself was also underwhelming. The margaritas and IPA were okay, but Albuquerque has plenty of places that do drinks and service much better. The chips, salsa, and queso were the best part of the experience, which isn’t saying much. Overall, La Reforma’s Instagram is deceiving. What looks like a vibrant, welcoming spot online turned out to be a mediocre experience in person. Sadly, the attitude and lack of hospitality made it somewhere we won’t be returning to.
