Opinions de Pizza Antica Lafayette
This restaurant has evolved over the past two years (or so) from average to outstanding. The food, wine pairings, craft cocktails and service are all five star. I would recommend the meatball appetizer and either papardelle or gnocchi for the main course. It may be upsetting to some that the tip is built in as a service charge but I tip 20-25% anyway. Also, if that helps attract and retain the good servers that they have, great!
Dog friendly place that we love to go to! Great ambiance and lovely food!
Just had a marhgerita here and it might have been the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. The sauce was vibrant and full of life and everything about it was just simple and delicious
I don't have enough words to describe how our family loves pizza from this restaraunt. The atmosphere is cozy, sometimes too loud in popular time, but staff is very friendly. Potato pizza is my favorite and the best ever! Drinks fom the bar are very nica as well.
Really enjoyed this place. Pizza is fairly good. Not totally thin crust but not the usual thick stuff either. The service is good in pleasant. It's a little bit pricier than average but not that bad in terms of value for the dollar.
One of my favorite places to go post rehearsal or performance out in Lafayette. Love there Spaghettini or Margarita pizza, Young field greens salad is good too but their affogato is literally heaven on earth! Staff is always very friendly, helpful and on the ball! The space is inviting, clean and minimalistic. Casual, easy to find and located in the downtown area. It is definitely a little pricey, but worth it every once in a while.
This review is not for the restaurant but I had to post a review. I just bought a frozen margarita pizza in Ladera at Bianchi’s market and OMFG! I just came back from the Napoli Bay in Italy and the way the mozzarella melted into the crust has me shook. I think this is the best pizza I’ve ever had.
Have been to this place countless times now and have always had a good experience. The salads are really good. The pizza options are amazing and not greasy or heavy. My personal favorite is the fennel sausage pizza. Even got my mom to love the pizzas at this place!!!! Definite must try. And great wine collection too...
Excellent pizza, you can tell by the dough- we were fighting over the crust. Definitely will be back
The food was tasty and the location is very cental and convenient. I was very impressed with the service from our waitress and all other staff we interacted with. The pizza melts in your mouth and I would highly recommend the burrata appetizer. This restaurant has an extensive wine list.
Love love love their heirloom potato pizza! Anyone who loves the truffle flavour must try this. Their focassia is also amazing. They also get some great seasonal pizzas and pastas.
Went there today for an early dinner with a social group. The place was a little noisy but tolerable. We each got a different kind of pizza and shared a caesar salad. Everything was great. I had the sweet corn and I am glad I did because I had never seen a pizza with corn before. The waiter was very friendly. Would definitely go back again.
One of our favorite places in Northern California! The food is always as delicious as the first day! The pizza is simply amazing!
Pizza Antica in Lafayette is a gem. The atmosphere is perfect for enjoying a sunny afternoon, with indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was friendly and efficient, especially the hostess who helped me with my DoorDash pickup. The pizza itself was good, though the thin crust meant it cooled down quickly—it might just be how thin the crust is! Overall, it was a great experience and a place I recommend.
Very clean place and nice decor. We stayed inside since there was a lot of space for the baby. Staff was friendly, and hired students (which is great) that seemed to be trained well, although took awhile to get the check. Pizzas like always were amazing, with a good crust from their piping hot ovens. We had the fennel sausage pizza and white potato pizza which balanced well. I thought the Caesar salad was lacking considering it cost almost the same as the pizzas. Foccacia was tasty especially with the ksa beer. Really would give it a 4.5 stars but I'll round up. The setup and the cleanliness, and nice atmosphere really adds to the experience.
Burrata was quite good, it came with a big piece of (you guessed it) Burrata along with pesto and 4 pieces of toast. Both the fennel and potato pizzas were good, sauceless pies. On a summer weekday evening, there’s plenty of spots available indoors since most patrons opted for outdoor seating.
I've eaten here several times and like coming back. The pizzas are very tasty. They are Napoli-style pizzas with an uneven, soft rim. The doe is delicious. The kale salad was flavorful. The Tiramisu for dessert was surpsingly large. Friendly and fast service.
This has to be our favorite pizza place in Contra Costa. We've been to countless others, and none come close to the flavor of anything offered. To top it off, the current COVID service and outdoor dining experience is among the best. We ordered the Margherita Pizza and the Fennel Sausage, along with a couple drafts of Ghost Town IPA. Both pizza we're delicious, there's something about a wood-fired pizza that you simply can't go wrong with. Our server was nice enough to mention the Fennel Sausage doesn't come with red sauce but we could add it if we desired. We kept it the way they intended it and were SO glad we did, as it was phenomenal. Happy to recommend this establishment to anyone! Our one and only gripe was that the "20% living wage/health insurance service fee" (in lieu of tip) was taxed along with our food and drinks. I'm all for paying this to a restaurant to ensure everyone working there is taken care of, I just think it should have been added after the total bill. Not enough to lose a star though, as we'll be back here as often as life allows.
Love this restaurant. I’ve been coming here for 15 years, and it’s as good as ever.

Wow, Mushroom pizza and potato pizza was the closest. I’ve got to Italy so far. Our waitress Jules was excellent. We had an issue w gift card and Seth and Ryan cleared it up quickly. Kudos to this place!
This place's menu has been a highlight for me over the years! I'm a little bitter they took calamari off the menu 6(?) years ago but I still make this my go-to spot for birthdays and anniversaries! the gnocchi is easily the best dish on the menu for me along with the potato pizza! they also don't do reservations which honestly can be a plus, there's usually not too long a wait!
I've been coming to PIzza Antica since I was a kid when they opened. Now I am in my 30s and only get to come when visiting family im Lafayette, and WOW - they never cease to amaze and satisfy! The salads are exceptional, our favorites being the house greens and the arugula. Our favorite pizza is the Fennel Sausage with gluten-free crust. (Yes, they have gluten-free crust, and it's amazing! My dad eats gluten and likes the GF crust even more.) My favorite meal overall: the arugula or house salad on gluten-free Piadini with grilled chicken. They have a full bar with craft cocktails and a robust wine list. It can get loud in here, but it's in a fun, authentic Italian pizza parlour kind of way. Highly HIGHLY recommend.

Excellent service. Our 1st visit & the server Maureen gave us a complimentary vegan chocolate cake dessert. Nice atmosphere. Good selection of non-alcoholic drinks - Mexican Coke & the black currant lemonade were what we had. We had a marinara pizza & a margherita pizza - both were okay because the sauce was very little. Will likely try eating here again. They had an attractive menu of sides & salads, & a lunch special of salad & pasta. Parking was on the street & metered.
Well thought out small menu. Nice wine selection and a lively atmosphere. We ordered a few apps and the potato pizza with fennel sausage - really, really good. The food came out quick and our waiter was attentive throughout our time at Antica. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the 20% surcharge. Yes they let you know this ahead of time, but why not just trust your patrons to tip!
Years ago Pizza Antica fell off our dining-out rotation after we had two bad meals in a row here. There have been some changes since our last visit. A great change is the addition of the banquette and resulting wall between dining room and bar. Another change is the full bar. I'm not sure if that is good or bad. I've never wanted a cocktail in that environment. The not so great change is the shrinking menu. It feels like just handful of items now. Only one entree that isn't pasta. Only a few (5-6?) seasonal pizzas instead of the old 10-12 offerings. I thought of making my own but while all the seasonal pizzas have at least three items, my own 3 item pizza would have been more expensive than any pizza on the menu. The really good news is that my pizza, and the rest of our food, was delicious.
Staff is great, food is okay, but pricey! $8 for a bowl of pasta and butter for a kid is a bit much and my husband paid $9 (I think) to add salmon to his salad and it was not a very big piece. Sad to pay so much or food and leave hungry. Would possibly go back for drinks and hang out.
The pizza was delicious and fresh. We built it off a base they had on the menu. We ordered the strawberry arugula salad wth the Marguerite pizza. The salad could have had a little bit more venegratte and more cheese.

Their food is delicious peer. The service is pretty consistently good. For atmosphere, giving it a three - not that the place isn't a nice setting, but it's extremely loud and often filled with families and a bunch of small children who are allowed to run around and be rambunctious inside. The noise level isn't helped by the fact that the walls are brick and the floor is small tile.So there's no soundproofing. I have often been there with a friend, and we can't hear each other talk. So, if noisy restaurants bother you, this is not the right place. If that doesn't bother you, then they have very good pizza and salads.
I had pizza and a beer with a friend. The beer was cold and the pizza was hot. It tasted good too. It was busy so it was kinda loud and it was kinda expensive, but it's Lafayette.
Food was yummy. Great service. The crust was really yummy and the salad had nice flavors but ultimately, the pizza toppings weren’t as robust in flavor and (as my husband put it) “heft”. I think the crust was my favorite part. Worth trying if you’re in the mood for wood fired pizza but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

Yes, there is a 20% service charge. Deal with it, staff is expensive and lots of people don't tip. But it's a scam if as one reviewer said only part of it goes to the staff. $20 for a soggy, floppy margherita pizza is .... maybe reasonable if were more crispy. But $11 for a pint of beer is over the top. The plates and salads looked a little better.
Pizza is unique and it’s good, but not amazing. The thin crust is sometimes soggy when it’s not crispy enough, but usually it’s good. And the staff is very friendly. It’s pricey and now they’re automatically charging 20% gratuity for takeout, which seems a bit cheeky of them. During covid, while we don’t eat out, we have made an effort to get takeout regularly and we typically tip generously to support the local restos and servers. But, to automatically charge 20% for takeout on top of a bill that is generally priced high is over the top.
This used to be a favorite for us but based on our experience last night we don’t think we will be back. Everything we ordered (a salad, an appetizer and a pizza) were all soso and overpriced. Along with the mandatory 20% tip for what turned out to be subpar service made for a very disappointing experience.
I ordered the mushroom pizza gluten-free crust- very bland … no seasoning no garlic no onion no sauce very disappointed for $30 for one person …no drinks
For a small $22 I expected a higher quality pizza. We ordered the kale pesto which is a seasonal flavor. It was good but not good enough to come back. The crust was tough and it just wasn’t the best pizza I’ve had. Automatic 20% service fee was applied. The mint strawberry lemonade was good and my friend ordered two glasses of Riesling. The olives were surprisingly good.
Atmosphere is good with both indoor and outdoor seating. Service is quick and good. Food is not that great as you may expect because of the vibe, setting and prices. Cesar salad was literally two pieces of lettuce with dressing; pizza was saggy and very thin. And for all, expect a mandatory included 20% service charge to your bill. As a pizza place, it's overrated and pricy. For sure you can have much better pizza somewhere else.

We've done takeout from Antica since pre-covid. It's been great pizza for a little extra cost. This past time we went they were stingy with the toppings ie the toppings were very very sparse. I love Antica and I love their pizza crust and method of cooking which hasn't changed over the years, but they could do a lot better with their toppings.
I used to come here alot , their staff was great food was amazing... but they have gone down hill in the past year...seems they have a large turn around in staff I never see the Same people anymore and the don't have the large/ small option pizza anymore it's just "one size fits all" kinda deal which doesn't make sense...they skimpy on the Bread they seem to give you the amount of people at your table which last time I had 4 and we got 3 peices??? Ugh...anyway yet prices go up and food gets less ..but inflation is expected I suppose.

Update 2: Still infested with rats and roaches. Does management even care about this business? Sure seems like they are only interested in sitting around and eating while the rest of the staff look like they are ready to either kill themselves or everyone in the building. They really seem to be pushing themselves over an edge at this establishment. I get it restaurants are a lot of work. What I've seen here is really a case of negligence. Leadership is out of touch and so the whole restaurant is suffering. The future of Pizza Antica appears grim. Update: This restaurant has rats and cockroaches. It's infested. Witnessed a rat run into the back of the restaurant and into a hole in the wall. Have seen cockroaches and other insects too. Management just hides the problem. Health Department needs to do a thorough inspection of this place. I wish I didn't have to look up the hours for this business to remember what time they close. I'm the type of person who hates putting an undue burden on service workers. They don't deserve to be forced to stay super late because of one tables lack of awareness. Having your hours posted on the door is just establishing boundaries. It's not rude to do so. It's a perfectly legitimate move to make as a business. Especially if you don't want to waste money on unneeded labor. The food is great. Recommend trying your next salad with a piadina and some fried chicken. The combo makes for an awesome salad wrap. The service is great. The staff are cool. The only reason for 3 stars is cause I got there around 7:45 and didn't find out until after we left that they actually close at 8 pm on weeknights. I would have gotten my food to go if I had known. Again, I hate being that last person in the restaurant, and since I didn't remember the hours from when I looked online, I didn't have a backup indicator to let me know. I've overstayed my welcome. It really shouldn't be outrageous to post an open/closed sign and the business hours. Honest people appreciate those things.
The service was not very good. I was informed of an additional 20% fee on top of my expensive meal. The gluten free crust was bland and cold. Nowhere on the menu did it list a $4.00 charge for a few measly pieces of chicken. I wanted a cheese pizza with chicken. What I got was cold crust with cold marinara sauce with a few small pieces of balled cheese with a few pieces of cold chicken thrown on top. What I thought was going to be a $23 meal cost over $35. Then on top of it the check leaves a space for a tip. The waitress asked how it was and I told her okay. I ate it all because I was hungry and it was a mini sized pizza. She apologized for my not liking pizza, but then gave me an outrageous bill. I did not leave a tip and will never eat there again.
Way over priced for what you get. Only have personal size pizzas, so you really can’t order for a family. Also, ordered the Apple salad and it was $16 for two handfuls of arugula a few apple chunks and a dusting of cheese. Got a pepperoni pizza and there are sparse pieces of pepperoni. I recommend going somewhere else.

Incredibly overpriced for a GF pizza thats the size of a frisbee. If the pizza tasted somewhat decent, I wouldn’t be writing this review. The exact same GF pizza is sold at many other pizzeria’s for a more reasonable price. Save the wallet, much better off with a frozen GF pizza from TJs or any other grocery store.
