Alessa is known for its authentic Italian cuisine, especially the lasagna, risotto, and lobster ravioli. Many praise the food quality and ambiance, but some reviewers mention slow or unfriendly service. The bread with pesto and olive oil is also a highlight.
Tip: Try the bread and pesto with olive oil. Be prepared for potentially slow service, especially on weekends.

Why, oh why did it take me 20 years of living in OC to finally walk through these doors? 😭 I’ve passed by this place countless times, and I’m kicking myself for waiting so long to give it a try! From the moment I stepped inside, I knew this would become one of my go-to spots. Here’s what blew me away: 🍽️ The Food - Absolutely amazing! Every dish was perfection on a plate. ⭐ The Service - Attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming staff who made the experience even better. ✨ The Ambiance - Cozy, warm, and inviting atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours. This place has it ALL! 💯 I’m already planning my next visit because once is definitely not enough. If you haven’t been here yet, don’t make the same mistake I did—go NOW! 🙌 Can’t wait to come back soon! 👌❤️
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I cannot emphasize enough how absolutely extraordinary our experience was, and the overwhelming majority of that credit goes directly to our server, Sam, who delivered what can only be described as a truly unparalleled level of service and hospitality. From the very first moment we were seated, Sam set the tone for what would become one of the most seamless, pleasant, and genuinely memorable dining experiences I have had in a very long time. Sam greeted our table with a warm, welcoming energy that instantly made us feel comfortable and valued as guests. It was immediately clear that Sam possesses not only exceptional professionalism but also a natural ability to connect with customers in a way that feels authentic and sincere. Throughout the entire visit, Sam demonstrated an impressive depth of knowledge about the menu, ingredients, and recommendations, carefully guiding us through options and answering every question with patience, clarity, and enthusiasm. What truly stood out was Sam’s attention to detail. Every aspect of the service felt thoughtfully executed. Our drinks were always refreshed before we even realized they were getting low, our food arrived promptly and perfectly timed, and Sam consistently checked in at just the right moments to ensure everything met our expectations. It never once felt rushed or neglected — instead, the entire experience felt smooth, effortless, and incredibly well managed. In addition to outstanding technical service, Sam also brought a wonderful personality to the table. Their friendliness, professionalism, and positive attitude genuinely enhanced the entire atmosphere of the evening. It is rare to encounter someone who balances attentiveness, efficiency, and warmth so effectively. Sam managed to make the entire dining experience feel elevated while still remaining relaxed and enjoyable. Another thing worth mentioning is how attentive Sam was to even the smallest details. Whether it was ensuring special requests were handled perfectly, keeping the table organized, or simply making sure everyone was having a great time, Sam consistently went above and beyond in ways that did not go unnoticed. It felt like Sam truly cared about delivering a great experience rather than simply completing routine tasks. By the time we finished our meal, everyone at the table was in complete agreement that Sam had provided some of the best service we have experienced at any restaurant. Exceptional service like this is something that truly deserves recognition, and it absolutely makes a difference when deciding where to return in the future. Without hesitation, I can say that Sam exemplifies the highest standards of customer service, professionalism, and hospitality. If you ever have the opportunity to be served by Sam, consider yourself very lucky — you are almost guaranteed to have a fantastic experience. Thank you again, Sam, for your dedication, professionalism, and outstanding service. Experiences like this are exactly why people continue to support and return to great restaurants. Five stars across the board. Absolutely well deserved.
We stumbled upon this hidden gem in Laguna on our last day there. Can’t believe we missed it! After visiting Finneys in Santa Barbara, we were expecting a lot, but this place totally exceeded our expectations. It’s right off the beach, with an incredible selection of beers. The service and food were also top-notch. If you’re looking for a great spot to grab a bite or a drink, definitely check them out!
Restaurant was pretty clean! Food was quick and very good. Definitely one of the better locations.
We had such a blessed beautiful Sunday together today hand in hand walking along the beautiful beach side Tried somewhere new Finney's Craft House the atmosphere was amazing and the customer service was great Our waitress Madison was so friendly and helpful with suggestions on the menu items. Our food yummy- The Carnitas Nachos are boom so flavorful and delicious and the Fresno Chili's they top the nacho with are Fire but so good We also tried the Cajun Rub Hot Wings yummy and I had a refreshing Laguna Beach IPA too top of the heat We will definitely be back to try some of those other delicious items on the menu soon. Madison should be applauded for her hospitality and outstanding customer service thank you girl for your service with a smile it was much appreciated!!!
Finneys was absolutely amazing we loved the pizza and the new item ahi poke bowl. This was all so good can’t wait to come back!!!! Everything was clean and our waiter was awesome. Location was conveniently by the beach definitely give this a try.
We went here for dinner. It’s a laid back beach town atmosphere; a little loud but that’s to be expected in a beach town. It was peak rush hour and service was a little slow which we knew would happen. The food was very good. We had coconut shrimp, wagyu burger, mushroom and truffle pizza. All items were delicious. Reservation highly recommended, especially on weekends.
Some great beer here. Our first time coming. We were just walking around, and decided to stop in. Had the tacos and pizza. The ambiance was great! They had TV 's with the baseball games on, so the atmosphere was electric! Will mos def be returning.
Celebrating my best friends birthday after going to the beach. The wait is short and us, a party of 7, were sat promptly once called. The atmosphere is just perfect, not too loud and people and crew are top notch. Our server greeted us quickly and had our drinks and appetizers out in great time. It's busy but I believe the crew and management have things locked down so the customers don't wait so long. I ordered the pork tacos, a must, so is the spicy tuna rice and the pretzel with the awesome dipping sides. I will recommend to anyone. Also try the guava IPA and the margarita flight.
First time at this place and on the night of 4th of July with laguna packed. We got on the line using yelp which was very convenient. The inside is very spacious. We got the large table by the door which was very roomy. The service was great and fairly quick for how busy the place was. We ordered their carnitas nachos which was great. I ordered the grilled salmon sandwich which came with a small basket of chips. I also ordered a side of sweet potatoes that was nice. Ally was our server and she was so kind. Everyone at the table enjoyed the food and given prices everywhere else this was also a great value. Most defy will come back again.
We enjoyed lunch at Finny’s Craft House on our trip to Laguna Beach. Great menu with a lot of options of appetizers, pizza, burgers, salads and more. We shared the an appetizer and chose the Carnitas Nachos which the waitress said was a popular item on the mPerfect amount for two to share. It was delicious and the cilantro crema sauce was my favorite part! Staff were attentive and friendly with good service. Nice, clean, fun atmosphere with open air covered and in restaurant seating. Within walking distance to the beach, wonderful shopping and galleries. Also pet friendly with staff offering water bowl for the furry patrons.
I had such a great experience at Finney's Crafthouse - Laguna Beach, and I have to give a special shoutout to the hostess. From the moment we walked in, she was warm, welcoming, and incredibly professional. Even though it was busy, she handled everything with a calm, positive attitude and made us feel genuinely taken care of. She kept us updated on the wait time, made great conversation, and set the tone for a really enjoyable meal. First impressions matter, and she absolutely nailed it. Customer service like that makes all the difference.
Great food, especially for the price in Laguna. This Finneys location is particularly enjoyable, being one of the only 'watering holes' in Laguna, comprised of 30% locals every night. They have great bar tenders overall, however there is high turnover. You'll be lucky if Kelsie is at the bar to serve you. The group of locals that rack it up 6-7 days a week were extremely disappointed to learn that she is temporarily only working 1 day per week. She contributed greatly to building the community here and its unfortunate that I won't be seeing as many locals as a result.
Initially due to the 3.9 stars I was hesitant coming here. We were a group of 7 ladies that brought me here for my birthday dinner. I ordered a made to order calzone. Hands down the BEST calzone I have ever had in my lifetime! Very flavorful, not greasy or soggy, made to perfection!!!!!! All the other in my group loved their food as well. I just had to review them since I have never ever had such an amzing calzone before!!!!
It happens to be my Birthday and I was craving for a good Cioppino for lunch near my area and Alessa came out as my choice to try. Our sever Larissa was amiable and kind enough to deliver my special request to add spaghetti and more sauce for my preferred entree. Sure enough they deliver, it was sumptuously delicious. One of the best if not the best Cioppino I’ve ever had. My compliments to the Chef. I highly recommend and we will sure come back for this dish our next visit to Laguna Beach.
Been coming to Alessas for years. Never reviewed it though. We love the bread and pesto w olive oil. It’s the best. The risotto is great. The lasagna is wonderful. The Rigatoni Arrabbiata was delicious. The lobster ravioli w pink vodka sauce is exceptional. My favorite though is the meatballs. Best meatballs I’ve had anywhere! We always finish with the affogato. Never been disappointed here.
This place is great. We have only been twice, but it all started after our wedding. So every anniversary will be here. Food is great, servers are friendly as well. Make sure you end the night with an affagato. Sometimes a bit slow but you can’t complain when your in downtown Laguna.
Randomly found this place while strolling around Laguna Beach. Made the choice based upon the patio and the menu. Definitely a good choice. We dined early so everything was quick and convenient and the server was very professional. The food was very good. We had the butternut ravioli and the Mama Mia for appetizers. Would definitely try one or both again. The Risotto Pescatore was smooth and creamy with perfectly cooked seafood. The only negative from our choices was the Arrabbiata sauce didn’t have any heat and was sweeter than it should have been. Not enough of a ding to drop the stars, because the dish was still great, just not angry.
This is a great Italian restaurant with lots of options. I got the filet and it was delicious!! I would definitely go back and get the same thing. It's great for dates, girls night or dinner for 1. They had both inside and outdoor seating. Very nice area, great for photos as well. Highly recommend!
We came here for my birthday dinner this year and it was definitely the right choice. The lasagne was amazing. It tasted so fresh and had some unique flavors compared to most places I've tried. We also tried the zucca which was a butternut squash ravioli with brown butter sauce, it was different for sure but had a new flavor I haven't had, if you want something unique try it. I'd definitely come back here, the staff was great.
We stopped here as the reviews were good and it was close to where we were when we were hungry. Parking is somewhat difficult as it's on the main road, but we did not have to wait to long to find somewhere. We were seated quickly and although it was Tuesday at 6pm, it was still kinda busy, although we did not have to wait at all to be seated. The menu is good, and did not have pages and pages of food, and they have a good selection, service was quick and the food came out fairly quickly too..prices are ok considering the location and the food was excellent.
Came here with work colleagues to have a team dinner. The location is great - and block away from the ocean. Parking was decent to find but I can imagine on the weekend it may be tricky/filled. The pizza was more of a flatbread but it was good! We had some apps that were really good (the tater tots)
Food wasn’t bad, the A5 Wagyu burger was underwhelming, however blue cheese burger and wings and Truffle fries were good Be careful you automatically get charged 3$ if you just touch the iPad Though it is written on it however we didn’t know that just by trying a silly tik tak tok game just twice for fun we were charged 3$ on the bill!!! It didn’t feel right at all!!
Food were not great but definitely okay. We ordered Nashville hot wings, Mahi Mahi taco, kids marinara sauce pasta and two cocktails. The wings have an bbq taste and are definitely not the authentic Nashville style, but taste okay. I did not try the taco and the pasta, no comment. I did had both cocktails and indeed love the guva margarita but was not so impressed by the passionfruit mojito, it does taste good but very subtle and I can barely taste the alcohol, more like having a non alcoholic drink. Both service and vibe were above average. Walls full of TVs, good for game day. Reasonable price. Total bill was $60ish with above mentioned food.
Put in our name for a table and they said 30 minutes wait. There were many tables open. We came back after 30 minutes and another hostess said it was no wait and we could be seated immediately. Very odd. Enjoyed the crispy rice tuna appetizer. Fairly small portions though for an American food place. Right by the beach.
Visiting Laguna Beach, you have to try Alessa's Pirozzi. This was our 3rd or 4th visit, and the food was excellent, as usual. It's a busy restaurant... and in Laguna Beach, so... we ate outside. Our seating area was very cramped, but the food was worth it. The dessert we took back to the hotel and immediately ate it. Delicious! We will go back again.
Mixed feelings. Food was great, but we came on Saturday evening and it was packed, so waiters were barely managing. We got our appetizers an hour after we sat down. One of 4 orders was wrong (but promptly fixed) and we got the wrong check as well. But we weren’t starving and in good company so it didn’t bother us that much. I think if you aim for a less busy time it will be a fantastic experience. Parking (little lots and street) is too busy on a weekend as well.
Location:Good,Parking:Where you can find it, Service: Good, Food for price:Good, Overall: First time try and I was happy not to wait too long to be seated. The table bread and dipping sauce were both winners. I did Order the short ribs and pasta and felt it was a little small for what I paid and I will say It was good and filling. I would come back again...
Nice environment, service was good. We ordered the waygu burger, was good. Fried egg rolls, nothing special, too oily. Tuna nachos was bland, a lot of pepper, a few pieces of tuna and splash of sauce, I did not like it. Tuna tacos was good.
The ambience was great—warm, cozy, and inviting, making it a nice place to spend the evening. We visited on a Saturday night, so we expected it to be busy. However, even after the crowd started thinning out, the wait time for our food was still quite long, which was a bit disappointing. When the food arrived, the garlic bread did not meet our expectations, as it lacked the rich garlic flavor we were hoping for. On a positive note, the Alfredo pasta was truly delicious—creamy, well-seasoned, and definitely the highlight of the meal. Overall, the experience was average. While the ambience and pasta stood out, the service delay and some food items could definitely be improved.
I was really looking forward to trying this place, but the experience was a huge letdown. The best way to describe it: beer portions for adults, food portions for kids — all at a pretty steep price. I ordered a burger that was around $15 and paid extra to have it loaded with additional lettuce. What showed up was the complete opposite. There were no extra toppings, no tomatoes at all, and barely any sauce. The burger itself was shockingly small — honestly closer to a kids’ burger than something meant for an adult meal. I ordered it medium rare, but with how tiny the patty was, I’m not even sure why they bother asking how you want it cooked. It came out medium and there was barely any beef to speak of in the first place. Sides are also extra (like a steakhouse), which might be fine if the portions matched the price. But the $5 basket of fries was just as underwhelming — another tiny portion that looked like it belonged on a kids’ menu. I rarely leave reviews, but this was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long time. By the time you factor in parking and the meal, this ended up being about a $60 outing — and I still came home hungry. Definitely not worth it.
Food was good, but the service completely ruined the experience. Our server was extremely judgy, unfriendly, and didn't smile once. From the beginning, her attitude felt condescending. It took about 20 minutes for her to finally come and take our order. I asked if they had rigatoni pasta, and she said no. We repeated "rigatoni" multiple times, clearly and correctly (we are fluent English speakers) and she still insisted they didn't have it. About a minute later, she said, "We have rigatoni if you want." When I said we had just asked that, she responded, "I didn't understand you," in a mimicking, mocking tone. The entire interaction felt rude and unnecessary. She made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, and her behavior came across as very judgmental. She didn't come back to ask if we needed anything but continued to ask the table next to us multiple times, while avoiding eye contact with us. Overall, the poor service completely overshadowed what could have been a good meal. Definitely not an experience I'd want to repeat. Date: 12/19 Outside table for two
Food was good but the service was absolutely shit. The server was extremely mean to us and made fun of how we pronounced the Italian words while being super nice to the table next to us only difference was we were not States locals. Very racist and poor service. I don’t remember her name but she was in her 30s and served us on 12/19.
Super over priced I took my mother for her birthday. The portions of the food we're funny The dish is huge and theres almost nothing in it. Servers have no smile She came in and asked me what you wanna order and left And I asked her what would you recommend and she said I don't know do whatever you want. I usually tip more than 20 or 25% I left her three dollars and I even regret it. Food have no taste. Never coming back not recommended at all.
