Me and my family came up to Lake George for vacation and was driving around looking for lunch and found A&W look no more we pulled in and ordered lunch we are from staten island and remembered we had A&W a long time ago that was the place to be the waitresses were on roller skates 😜 anyway missed it this place the food was good and very friendly staff and fast service love the DELOREAN thank u see you guys next year.

Iconic roadside architecture - a place with actual soul - food was very good as well. Chili cheese dogs, onion rings and corn dog nuggets are must haves. Also appreciated the quality of the fountain soda. Will make it back.

Servers are pretty quick. Food does not take long once ordered. Friendly staff. First time visiting an A&W, and the food was pretty good. Best fries I’ve had in a long time. Parking is rather limited at this location, but easy to get back on the road.

They have three wonderful girls working there. Everyone of them was very nice. They had to serve in the pouring rain because they come to your car. Everything was as expected or better. If you’re going to go there you might want to try the miniature corn dogs delicious

This is actually the 2nd time I have been to a A&W restaurant. This one is quite a bit smaller than most of the ones they have. Parking is very limited. But the food is still great. The price is actually not that bad compared to other restaurants. I would definitely go to another A&W. This was the 1st time I took my kids, which are 10, 14, and 16; and they said the food was great. So I am very pleased by this experience.

Same great taste I remember as a kid. Our server was such a sweetheart. Love this place!!

We really get a kick out of this place. Old style, fun place to go for simply good food. And we love how, when the root beer float erupts, it flows down the side of the mug and right through the table to the ground - haha!

Excellent burgers and float, reasonable prices, if you don't mind setting outdoor or in your car to eat it's very pleasant place.

A must if you want a cheeseburger while in LG Village. The staff is very helpful. This is the closest thing you're going to get to "fast food" in LGV. I loved that it was a "classic" A&W. We ordered cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and of course fries. All were fresh and done well. The fries are perfect, not too salty and crunchy. We ate at the picnic tables out back. As far as prices, it's Lake George Village, everything is more expensive, but lunch for 7 with root beer floats came in just around $100. Not bad considering lunch for 3 at another place was $60. It is EXACTLY what I expected from an A&W, that's why these people get 5 stars across the board. I highly recommend it. We'll see you next summer!

This place is a must when visiting Lake George. Its the only one I know of in NYS and its better than fast food. The restaurant is great when it comes to allergies and I have never had an issue. There is limited parking, so I advise walking there if you Jane parked elsewhere to enjoy the village.

Best poppa burger I've had at an A&W and I've been to the ones in Vermont Nevada Arizona.

Our waitress was very helpful! The gluten free chicken tenders and sweet potato fries were delicious!

We go to this A&W every year, it's a family tradition. They've yet to let us down. Always busy, but the food is exactly what you'd expect, and the service if always good.

The food came out so fast and was very good. My float erupted all over me once I picked it up and the person working the window did not help or offer a replacement. However, the cook from the back saw, came out, and handed me a stack of napkins. It was much appreciated! Easy place for kids to sit and eat. Will be back!

It was great to see a Delorean outside! Our server was very helpful, and even went so far as to give us directions to local tourists spots (she brought us a map and drew the route we needed to take)! I had the scallop roll and it was delicious, the scallops were cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. Of course the root beer in the chilled glass really hit the spot on such a hot day. We'll definitely be returning.

I love A&W, everytime I'm in the lake George area I end up visiting and it's always a real treat! First of all, the ice cream is delicious, they have over 50 flavors and they all taste great! The food is also fantastic! I always get a papa burger and I'm never disappointed! Finally the service is super friendly and great! So if you have a second, check this place out!

This usually is a yearly stop. However after our lunch today, I think we will pass. Rootbeer was flat. The burgers are not the same. For what we paid we are really disappointed. For 2 people it was 40.00. Price is getting ridiculous.

Fried clams were great, very fresh, shockingly so for a chain type of place. They were just as good as legit seafood restaurants. Kids loved the burgers and fries, as did my wife and the root beer floats were delicious. Great prices and friendly staff.

Their food there is quite good! & rather iconic also! Their atmosphere is terrific!, outside tables under cover! & under trees! Their prices are decent!, you got to remember that your in Lake George in the summer too! I would definitely recommend it! It brings back some great memories for sure!

UPDATE 8/23/25 - this used to be a favorite place of mine when in Lake George with my family and now it is AWFUL! The food was greasy, customer service was mediocre, they didn’t have half the items available that are on the menu, and it was really run down. Yuck! I have to take away my five star review. They are lucky to have a one star from me now. We won’t be going back again. Don’t waste your money! So disappointing! Customer service is great! The food is good but nothing spectacular except for their fries cheese curds. They are heavenly! It is fun having someone come to your window to take your order too. So, it's a neat experience for the kids. I'd recommend swinging in here for some decent fast food.

Great food, old school atmosphere, and a DeLorean on display! Only issue was parking. The parking lot only has a handful of spots and is difficult to turn around in.

The food was as expected ... not bad. The root beer float and milkshake were great. The service was very friendly and quick. We definitely didn't expect the DeLorean they have near the parking lot.

Great little spot. The classic atmosphere is very appreciated. Outdoor patio is great, nestled among nice trees. Had a burger and cheese curds. Burger was delicious, Curds were very hot and tasty. Came twice this week. Used to have table and car service here, which was fun. But at least the counter service was very quick. Love the floats.

They have a delorean out front which is cool, I just wish there was an easier way to take things to go. But otherwise I love A&W, we dont have many by us, and this lived up to how I remembered.

The food was good, not $$$ good like it cost, but tasty. I had to ask for the "surprise" that comes with the kids meal and for sauce for the nuggets. The staff was friendly, helpful and respectful! No complaints about them! The tables are run down, the highchairs unclean and old. The bathroom was gross. The root beer was, of course, amazing and the best part!!

Food wasnt bad at all! We definitely don't have one of these in CT. They have a good variety of foods like hotdogs, chicken, chicken sandwiches, chili fries, and regular fries. I had the corn dog nuggets and I thought those tasted pretty good. French fries were nice and crispy as well so very good overall. Definitely be returning soon too.

I hadn't been to an A&W since I was a child. Except for the service this was a great experience. One of the waitresses greeted us, gave us menus after we had sat and waited for 10 minutes or so and then ignored us. Another waitress finally took our order after taking the order of others seated after us. I would attribute this lack of organization to the level of busyness except that the first waitress explicitly told us how lucky we were to be there when it wasn't as busy as usual. But, the food and drink was great. My cheeseburger and onionrings hot and fresh, the A&W rootbeer served icecold in a mug straight from the freezer. My soft serve ice cream cone was a perfect ending to my meal. And, I love that the restrooms are not only open and available to anyone but were spotlessly clean.

I have heard so many great reviews of A&W restaurant and wanted to give it a try after we watched fireworks in Lake George last night. They were about to close and they were very nice and still served us. The papa burger had jalapeños and a delicious spicy mayo . The burger was juicy and fresh. The fries were way better then McDonald's and if you love honey mustard you've got to try the Marzetti Honey Mustard and other sauces they have. My518Food Review 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The food was prepared fresh and super super fast. I look forward to going back there when I'm in the area to get The Onion rings and a burger. The step into the bathroom is real high so be careful.

I'm just being honest here. Very pricey. The food was nothing to write home about. 2 burger baskets, a root beer, and a small shake came to $38, and that didn't even include the tip. Everyone always hypes this place up. I will never go back.

Road our bikes there and had easily accessible bike racks. The food was good. It was my first time going and was excited to go as my girlfriend really wanted to go. The food was good but not great. Their Oreo milkshake was my favorite thing that I got there.

Stopped by for ice cream, and there werr tok many flavors to choose from. I ended up having slush, and it was too sugary. I was expecting something like ICEE slush, but this was ice with syrup.

I waited for car hop service for about 15/20 minutes before getting a menu. I had a sleeping toddler so I needed to stay in my car. Server was friendly, food came out quickly. My chicken was a weird texture, fries were okay, cheese curds were good, root beer float was okay. Overall just an okay experience.

I've been going to the lake since I was a kid. It's 1 of my happy places in the whole world. I remember getting in the old family station wagon and parking at A&W. "Dad, why aren't we getting out of the car?" My father simply replied "wait." Next thing I knew there was a server at our car window to take our order. Our food would come on a car tray that got hooked on the window. It was so cool. So, imagine my disappointment when this past Wednesday I took my daughter for the experience of Americana car hop dining only to learn the new owners don't do it. It's a shame. The root beer floats are still good but let's be honest, I can get burgers and fries anywhere its the experience you come for. I was also quite upset about the increase in pricing. 1 burger with fries, I 5pc chicken tender, 1 root beer float, and a commemorative mug(10.99 not bad) came to $45. So after the mug deduction the food was $35. That's insane. Anyway, I would like to recommend it but I just can't. Find a different place until they bring back the car hop and get rid of Boba.

We were passing by Lake George and stopped at this A&W to eat and continue. We are used to the the food quality of the Canadian A&Ws, I am not sure if it is a difference between the countries, or something specific to this restaurant, but the food quality was not that great. Restrooms were not very clean. Also, they do not have indoor tables, just outdoors, if you are looking for an option to cool off on a hot day, this may not be the option.

Had to stop and get an original root beer while we were in town, great soda however, the manager was barking at an employee, literally at the pick up counter. Super unprofessional, and when I mean barking, I mean, he was literally yelling at her, asking her if she could do her job, she looked completely terrified. Something that should've been done in the back of the restaurant in private. He could really learn from some good training and compassion.

We got three medium root beer floats and a large fries for the family. Staff was friendly and service fast and efficient. Floats were good though we all would’ve preferred a ratio with more ice cream, less root beer. Double-fried fries were good. A bit pricey and touristy ~$30, but figured that’s expected on the Lake George tourist strip. Fine experience once, though no need to go back. It’s next door to the Cobalt boat dealer showroom, which was a fun activity after.

Papa burger is good. A bit disappointed on the Root beer float. As they are using soft icecream. But overall experience is good.

Good double cheeseburger as would be expected from an A & W. Chicken tenders not good. Rubbery and full of pump solution. Kids and adults gave them a thumbs down. Very pricey for 3 lunches at almost $45. Should have gone to a place like Duffy’s for better food and a lower bill. Good to try but we won’t be back, too many other options.

For fast food, the burger and onion rings were pretty good. Nothing to really write home about, but they did the job. The root beer however, tasted like it had soap in it. Perhaps it was left behind after cleaning? Anyway, your restaurant is famous for the root beer. It needs to be good.

Stopped by here, as a recommendation from a local. It wasn't bad, but wasn't exceptional. Seating is outside, parking is limited. We ordered burgers, which were good for a fast food joint, but as mentioned earlier not exceptional. Root beer float was not anything special, but was not bad either, kids enjoyed. The place is dated, adds to the A&W theme in my opinion. I believe when visiting places, try to support the local businesses. Glad we stopped by.

We were SOOOO excited to return here after so many years. At one point, there had been a fire, closing it down, but they rebuilt, and, then there was Covid, and now, things are slowly going in a forward, so we drive put here. 8 minutes after they open...1 spot to park. Awesome! We got in! Super sweet server. Very knowledgeable, friendly, etc. Fast service, everything seemed right... Onion rings were over cooked, flavorless... My hubby's bacon double cheeseburger had special sauce on only maybe 1/3of the Burger (he will not complain) The root beer, grilled cheese and cheese curds were delicious. Overall: meh. There is one in Cortland, NY. Much better. Cash only, but quality is way above what we got today

As always my food was delicious I love the burgers, shakes, and corn dog nuggets! But today’s experience wasn’t as good as always because my waitress carol seemed to be in a bad mood today because she was being quite a passive aggressive b!+<# if I’m being honest. However the young girl who came and finished my order was great so I give 2 stars for today’s experience.

Servers and carside orders are gone,but window order is quick. Delorean is gone. Dumpsters next to where you eat, trash cans overflowing. Prices are way up for an extremely thin burger. Rootbeer not what it use to be. Declining since new owners took over last year

We’ve been coming to Lake George A&W for decades… my wife since she was a little kid. The service is always great and our visit yesterday was no different. While they were obviously understaffed the women were working hard and super friendly. We know the business has changed hands and we were curious if much had changed. Unfortunately it has. I literally have dreams of the fried chicken sandwich from this place and hold all others up to this standard. When I saw it was no longer on the menu only to be replaced by a pair of chicken “sliders” I was heartbroken. I gave them a try anyway hoping maybe they’d be two mini versions of my favorite sandwich in the world. Even for a slider these were disappointing. Never mind they brought grilled chicken without cheese (not waitresses fault), they consisted of one little tough chewy tender per sandwich with mayo and pickles. Tiny. Gone was the lettuce and tomato and Miracle Whip-esque dressing. Gone was the juicy flavorful chicken breast. Gone. The new menu only shows double burgers and thankfully we asked if they actually offer a regular single burger. Also missing from the menu was the famous AW Cream Soda which we were again relieved was available if you think to ask. Our server confirmed that many regulars have inquired about their favorite items as well. If you’re passing through and don’t have expectations from previous visits you may be satisfied however we will no longer be making the 30min drive several times each summer. All good things must come to an end and sadly Lake George A&W is no different.

This was my first visit since the change in ownership. I was disappointed that the car hop service is no longer offered. The menu has fewer choices. The food quality was sub par. The prices were much higher. The staff seemed very nice, though.

Although the food was a little on the expensive side, it was decent. The service was horrible. Understandable We went on a busy night, but we waited 20 mins just to order our drinks, and another 20 to get them. The waitress was very nice, but this place needs more organization and staff to accommodate there busy season. Would more than likely not come back

Unfortunately this place used to be awesome, but evidently, it has changed ownership in the last 2 years and many things are not the same as they were. The car-hop service has been discontinued. Also, this place used to have some of the best clamp straps ever, which are no longer on the menu. They were also out of A&W Zero sugar root beer!!! Lastly, the prices have gone up considerably. sad.

We used to love coming here everytime we would visit lake george. The food was always good. We stopped by on our way home and the service was fast, but the food was disappointing. They changed the burgers and the buns. Almost $20 for 2 small burgers. The quality has gone down and the portion sizes got smaller. The burgers tasted frozen. We are very upset about this. We most likely won't be returning whenever we visit lake geoge in the future.

The fries were soggy and sad, the corn dog nuggets were over cooked so there was almost no outside, and kids meal was toyless. Staff is friendly food is utter trash especially for the prices. Leave this one for the tourists locals. Do not support.

Spent $66 on food here, paid a $2.60 surcharge for card. Waitress was a very cocky woman. Decided to take our order based off memory no pen & pad and messed up our burger and both chicken tender orders that were to go. We ordered 2 five piece tenders to go one had 3 one had 4 (they don’t even sell a four piece so what gives. It’s okay will file a dispute with cc. Don’t recommend this joint

This is nothing like it used to be. The young girl that spoke English was very sweet to us but we are very disappointed that there is no more table service. We have been coming back to the same carhops for years and now the employees are all replaced with exchange students. The food was ok but we had to stand in a huge group of people to order and wait for our food. The seating area was dirty and not well kept. The dumpster wreaked and that’s all we smelt while eating. It’s a shame but we will not come back. If you’re looking for the service you’ve had for years do not come here.

New owners from last year. They got rid of servers so now you have to wait in line to order food then grab a table. There were flys every where you can think of. On our food, around our table ETC. Trash big filled to capacity with garbage spilling over onto the floor. Small parking lot with not enough spots for people who drive their vehicles there and good luck if you double park out front bc you will get ticketed!

I don’t think I will come back. This was my first visit under new ownership and was highly disappointed. We waited upwards of 30 minutes for food while random things came out but not full orders. It was very sloppy and the service was bad and slow from the employees. The burger was chewy and the bun seemed stale. It was one of the worst burgers i’ve ever had I had to throw it away. I’d rather get a mcdonald’s burger for $1. The root beer was good, but anything fried also came out poorly. Overall terrible experience and I do not recommend it.

We ordered 2 conny dog 2 plain hot dogs with mustard 1diet Pepsi & 1 rootbeer not on ly was the food terrible. The hotdogs size was the size of a pencil I have never seen a hotdog that small, my husband was charged 25. Cents extra for his mustard the sauce wasn't Chilli and the soda was water with a little syrup I keep saying that the soda had a weird taste it took me a little bit to figure it out, the soda has a chlorine taste with very little Pepsi or root beer in it. Don't waste your money service is slow food is terrible when our order came we only got 1 hotdogs and no Pepsi we had to reorder twice save your money go to Stewart's you get better food and service.

Terrible food and extremely overpriced. It is not the same owners as the other AW. Food was terrible and full of mustard.

We stopped in a couple of days ago & ended up leaving so I cannot comment on the food or service this time around. However, we were there last year in June & it was not a positive experience. Now you have to place your order at the window & wait for it. The booths that they had in the small “indoor” section were taken out. I don’t know what these new owners are doing but it is very disappointing to see this restaurant slowly go downhill. No more waitresses going to your car & taking your order. Last year they had changed their menu. A lot of items were taken off. We thought we would give it another try but we could just tell this place is not the same & left. Too bad. This used to be our #1 go to place in LG.

First time visit under new ownership. Been a customer at this location since the 90s. Will be last unfortunately. Burger was fine, it didn't taste like it always did, even the pickles were different. Fries were extra done and tasted like fish they had previously fried. Root beer was flavorless. Garbage piled everywhere any and all the novelty of the place is just gone.

Went way downhill, seems to be new owners who don’t know anything about the business! Got a Rootbeer float watch the server not know how to make it! No long spoons to eat it, gave us a small soup spoon! WTH how do u eat a float with that? I should have returned it! I expect it will be going out of business soon!

This was a favorite for many years. Unfortunately, it is under new ownership as of 2023 and they have changed nearly everything that was charming about this place. Staples of A&W restaurants across the country include service at your car with trays that hook onto your windows, root beer in frosted mugs, and, at this location in particular, an extensive soft serve ice cream menu. I believe they had over 60 flavors of soft serve ice cream available. New ownership has removed all of that. Now, you walk up to a window and order you food, walk up to another window and pick up your food, and sit at some tables behind the restaurant to eat. For ice cream, you have some pretty basic selections that are not nearly as good as what used to be. This place was the same since 1959, and they have removed pretty much everything that made it unique. You might as well go eat anywhere else you can get a burger.

Root beer floats in a plastic cup! What happened to the frosted mugs?? Ok I accepted the cup situation but please vanilla soft serve? It was awful! Bumpy and grainy. What crap. I stopped here to get something I hadn’t had in a long while and what a disappointment! I was having a depressingly bad day and thought this would help make me feel better boy was I wrong. I was so mad with the quality. Don’t waste your time with the root beer floats guys.

My father grew up going to these restaurants and introduced us to them when we were kids. Last year, on vacation, we went hoping to enjoy it again. Let's just say the tenders tasted like they were cooked in a dishwasher and left on a warmer afterward. Service was horrible. Employees seemed irritated with customers. Seems more like the owner no longer cares about service. I'm not sure if the owner will remember my note, but Mcds was amazing!

When you come to Lake George, definitely don't waste your time. This place is definitely under new owner that only cares about making a profit and losing the nostalgic touch of what this small little gem used to be. Number one, there's no longer a friendly staff.That's outside to greet.You take orders at your car to your car. There is still outdoor seating, however, the food is not the same anymore. The chili does not taste the same anymore. Almost like it's been watered down. We ordered a kids cheeseburger with no pickles.They put pickles on it and also forgot the cheese, so when we asked to have it, we made, they took it and gave it back within like three minutes. We notice all they did was swipe off the pickle off the burger and gave it right back still with no cheese. And they had attitudes about it, the root bear flow The one thing that they're supposed to be famous for it also was horrible. It was full of just root beer that is flat and maybe one small scoop of ice cream, just not the same. And I don't know why they weren't giving out receipts to anybody.So we had to ask for that too. So unfortunately, one of my small little memories of coming up every year and being excited to have an a&w root beer.Is completely gone. So please, anyone who used to love this place.Don't waste your time anymore.
