This place is amazing. Hands down one of the best restaurants I've been to, EVER. Living in NYC we've been to some great places but the service, food and drinks were amazing here. Had a great crab cake appetizer with a tomato feta salad to start and both were amazing. The crab cake wasn't too fried and there was a ton of crab meat in the cake, not just filler. Great start. I then had the Cabernet glazed short ribs which was the best short rib meal I've ever had. And my wife had the lobster risotto where the lobster was poached in butter. It didn't disappoint at all. We both got the small portioned meal because it is a ton of food for the price and it was the perfect amount. This truly is a wonderful place to eat and I would recommend it to anyone at all who has a pulse and likes to eat food. You will not be disappointed in the least bit.
This has by far been one of the best meals we have had, EVER! we have traveled all over the United States and have never had such a wonderful meal! Everything comes in small or large sizes, so we shared several items, EVERYTHING was AMAZING! we head a caprese salad, lobster salad appetizer, sea scallops, rainbow trout and bread pudding. Who would have thought such an amazing restaurant would be found in such a small town. Updated: 6 years later we made it back by happenstance. We had to order takeout this time because we had our dog with us. Takeout just as good! Wish we could have had the experience again, but we were still able to enjoy the food! So happy we made it back! Still on point.
We had a server named Carrie and she was amazing!! Made our visit very pleasant. The food was amazing! We are from ct and love it. If you have the chance please go. Great price and you can get a small size or dinner! Amazing!!
This restaurant is truly special. The service and atmosphere are awesome. As someone with celiac and lactose intolerance, the care that the waiter and chef took was amazing! The food was incredible and our whole table left giddy from how much we enjoyed everything!
Wow! We were welcomed into a beautiful relaxing atmosphere. Jackie, our server, was excellent! Poached Pear Salad was nicely balanced and drizzled with a unique vanilla fig vinaigrette. Watermelon & Beet Salad with fresh arugula was delectable. Swordfish was melt in your mouth tender and cooked perfectly. Lobster Risotto was absolutely delicious. We felt the love. What a treat!
I had the blackened scallops and they were excellent. We had no reservations and I thought we may have to wait a while, we were seated within 5 minutes. Excellent gluten free options. Two size options on most entrees small and large.
Very enjoyable meal at the end of a busy day. Family members had raved about this restaurant from their prior visit. It is a warm and inviting atmosphere with an open kitchen. There's a small bar area. The service was great, very attentive. At the end of a rainy, chilly day, the Butternut squash and apple soup was a great starter. It has a very creamy texture, not a more pureed feel. The scallops were tasty and nicely presented. Thank you for a lovely evening
Bistro LaRoux is quite possibly the best dining experience you could ever ask for. They’ve been consistently impressive through the years—superior food with an unparalleled atmosphere and highly skilled, professional, kind servers and chef/owners. They greet you at the door and welcome you like family. My husband and I consistently return here for all special occasions knowing it’s going to be excellent. Thank you Jake and Tiffany! You never disappoint! We just nominated you for Best of the Region and hope to dine with you soon! Thanks for your loving devotion to your craft and our community! The dining experience you offer your guests is exquisite.
What a treat! We sampled a bit of everything and everything was a delight to the senses!!! My personal favorite was the fig dressing on the poached pear salad. This restaurant is a ‘foodies’ treasure. We traveled nearly an hour for this meal and it was well worth the drive. The martini’s were fun & yummy and Chelsea’s service was seasoned and enjoyable. We can’t wait to return with your next seasons specials.
Top notch food. Easily best I’ve had in the area. Small options are great and everything is priced well.
Always a great experience here. The food is the best in the area.
Very pleasant atmosphere, relaxed with superb service. The food was also full of flavor and beautifully plated.
Warm, cozy atmosphere. Good food, great service. All staff were super friendly and accommodating. Child friendly so may not be the most romantic spot for a date night. Home made bread pudding was delicious.
Bistro LeRoux is one of the best restaurants in the Lake George area. Jake, the owner and chef is very talented. As you walk in turn your head to the left and that will be him in the open style kitchen. The service is fantastic and the food is even better. The prices are reasonable. They have 1/2 portions or whole portions. We always get the 1/2 portion. It is more than enough, especially if you get an appetizer or a salad. The atmosphere is wonderful. You should make a reservation if it is a weekend evening. Highly recommended.
Every year, the same time of year, we spend a long weekend in Lake George to celebrate our anniversary. This was our 2nd time visiting Bistro Leroux. We had a wonderful meal there last year so decided to go back again this year. We weren’t disappointed that’s for sure. Both of our meals were delicious. Since we weren’t overly hungry my wife and I both opted for the small portion salads and meals which turned out to be plenty filling. Our waitress was very attentive and the service was very good! We would recommend giving Bistro Leroux a try if you’re looking for a quaint spot for a delicious dinner and good service.
Metered street parking and there was a bit of a wait but the food and service were great. Home fries were flavorful. The steak with the steak and eggs breakfast was tender even though we ordered it well. They unexpectedly brought us complimentary mini pancakes because my wife mentioned it was her birthday and it came with a card signed by the entire staff. Would definitely come again.
We have dinner here every time we're in Lake George. I'm vegan, my partner is not, and we both really enjoy both food and atmosphere. Chef has always willingly accommodated my vegan requests. Most recent meal was poached pear spinach salad and summer vegetable risotto, and it was phenomenal! We actually cancelled our reservations at another restaurant to come back a second time on our most recent trip. Wait staff is attentive, knowledgeable about the food and professional to the core. Food is thoughtful and in the several years I've been coming here the quality has been unwavering. Definitely a highlight of our Lake George trips, and in my opinion the absolute best restaurant in the area. Would love to see a vegan dessert option added to the already spectacular menu. Kitchen staff always takes the time to thank us on our way out. Reservations recommended, especially on weekends. A truly special place!
Excellent overall experience. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed how they offered "small" versions of each entree, allowing us (2 people) to try 3 different things. They were actually quite good portion, and 3 small entrees along with 1 appetizer (French onion soup) was plenty filling. The pork chop was our favorite, along with the bread pudding for dessert. The only one we didn't love was the scallops which seemed slightly over salted and lacking the extra layers of flavor that the pork and short rib had. Still, with 4 out of 5 dishes super tasty, I left very satisfied.
The food was absolutely amazing. The "small" entrees were half of the full portion and allowed us to each pick 2 different menu items for the same price as one "full" entree. The bread pudding for desert delicious and big enough to share. The staff were very friendly as well. I'd definitely come back again.
Phenomenal restaurant! The atmosphere was inviting. The food and service were excellent. The pear salad, crab cakes, and tuna were delicious. The entries were cooked to perfection. Short rib ravioli and scallops were our favorites. We live on the East Coast and are hard to impress when it comes to seafood dishes. The kids devoured their meals and traded jokes with the waitress who was very attentive and personable. Overall great experience!
I’ve been dining at Bistro LR since they opened years ago. I have to say that Jake and his team have always been a warm and delicious place to get interesting local fare in a homey setting. They have consistently raised the bar year after year. Last night was no exception, great service and wonderful food. I had a lovely crab cake to start and probably the best swordfish dish I have ever eaten. The fact that they offer all their appetizers and entrees in small or large portion is so refreshing, I wish every restaurant would follow suit. I highly recommend Bistro LeRoux. Thanks Jake and team for another great night.
AMAZING!!! You do not have to look any further for that gem of a place to eat at when visiting Lake George. This places has by far some of the best food I’ve ever had. Their appetizer tuna roll is out of this world!! The lobster risotto was so good and you won’t be disappointed if you get the full size!! Service was wonderful and we are so glad we found this place! Thank you for a wonderful meal we will never forget!!
Was looking for a place that was better than your typical lake George village restaurant and high quality. So glad we came here! The food is amazing and prepared perfectly! Highly recommend. Portions are perfect. All food was also plated very nicely and you could tell it was made with love! Such great chefs! We aren’t from the area and would drive here just to eat here. So delicious! The cocktails are better than any bar I’ve been to. Get the berry mojito or spicy margarita.
Has to be the best meal and restaurant experience I've ever had in my 20 years of life. The menu was the perfect size and offers something for everyone. The small plate option, which is half the size and price of the full meal, allows you to pick 2 menu items so you get the best of both worlds while still keeping the price within reason. I got the swordfish which was just out of this world. Masterfully crafted and cooked to perfection my entire family was left speechless with their meals. The short rib and scallops were also exceptional. Everyone was left speechless with their meals and said they've never experienced anything like it Service was 10/10 and we even got to meet the co-owner/Chef Jakeon the way out and he seemed genuinely happy to be able to give everyone such a great experience. Expect to pay around $50 a person, but know it will be the best $50 you've ever spent on food. If you're in the area you really have to go and experience it for yourself. Even if you're not in the area I certainly believe it's worth a good drive. Thank you Chef Jake Guay for the exceptional experience! :)
My husband and I travelled to Lake George for part of our honeymoon and both agree this was our favorite meal of the entire trip. The Eggplant risotto in particular knocked it out of the park. Thank you for an amazing meal.
Ordered a four small entrees for 2 adults and one child with a surprising good palate: sea scallops, surf n turf, ribeye, and braised short ribs. All dishes were outstanding and good portions. Good beer and wine selection. We come to this restaurant every time we're in Lake George. Forgot to mention, terrific service too.
Lovely place to dine. Delicious food. French onion soup and their special, potato soup, both outstanding. Short ribs not fatty and perfectly cooked. Short rib ravioli was superb. Did not love salmon. Children's meals were also excellent. Great atmosphere. Chef owned and operated. Though off the beaten path definitely worth the drive.
unexpected gem! was driving to VT from NY and about a minute after passing this place I decided I needed to eat and it looked like a spot that could be good. 11/10 exceeded expectations. the lilac lemonade cocktail was one of the best drinks I’ve had. Kate was my server and she was *extremely* on top of it. would drive from the city to come here just for dinner it was that good. the seafood chowder and lobster risotto were extremely tasty but everything about this place was *chefs kiss*
Absolutely fantastic. Delicious food, beautiful decor, and really nice people. I live in Texas, but I’ve been trying to find an excuse to come back up there just to eat here again
I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. Been there a dozen times and everything is always excellent. The service is professional, the food always delicious. Everything I’ve had was great. Love the small portions too. The best dining in the LG area.
My husband and I went to dinner here last night and everything was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and every person working there greeted us, even someone cooking on the line. The food was incredible. We especially loved the tomato cognac soup and the various specials we tried. The risottos here are top notch, with just the right amount of sauce. We will definitely be back!
Amazing vday dinner with wine pairings! Food was next level creative
Food, service, and atmosphere is always incredible. Our favorite place to eat anytime we are in town. If you haven't eaten here you should!!! It's one of those restaurants you will keep coming back to, and it becomes a family favorite. We recently celebrated my dad's 80th birthday here, and I couldn't imagine celebrating anywhere else!!!!
I can NOT say enough about this restaurant. We had an absolute phenomenal time. Thank you. The food was amazing, the ambience, the host and bartender were amazing. Carrie was amazing. I can't say enough about Kate, our drinks were on point, the pb espresso martini, sweet jesus. The tuna was bomb and so were the scallops and surf and turf. I work at mortons steakhouse and I 100% recommend this restaurant. The chef came out and asked how our experience was. Seriously, thank you all.
Food and service were very good. Loved the half portions. Lobster risotto and short ribs were excellent. Host and server were extremely hospitable!
Called for reservation and never heard back from them. Well I finally got a reservation. Bistro LeRoux is quite an experience. We had dinner last Tuesday and everything served was superb. Lynne Rose and I shared a watermelon/arugala salad that was wonderful. Lynne had a rib eye with grilled shrimp dish which was beautifully presented and delicious. I had a duck dish over mashed potatoes. It was such a nice dish which melted in my mouth. For desert we shared a bread pudding which was decadent. It was the Chef's grandmothers recipe and as I commented to our waiter John," why change perfection." Neither Lynne nor I have ever tasted a bread pudding that good. Ever! John waited on us and helped us with his knowledge because he had actually tasted everything we ordered. All the staff are pleasant and attentive. We booked every other Tuesday at 5pm until we leave for Florida in the fall. Maybe, we'll stay a little longer. This restaurant is truly outstanding in every way.
A jewel not far from the Lake. Chef Jake and family consistently pump out good food at great prices. I have been going there since I was a kid and now I can share it with my family. Check the place out, cheers.
We went with 10 people and every single person raved about the delicious food! I loved the Elote Salmon.. amazing! We had a fantastic server, Nicole, who was so attentive, fun and friendly! We can't wait to go back on our next stay on Lake George. A+
Every bite was incredible, our server was on her game and we got a cute little booth in the bar area without a wait as they squeezed in a same day reservation for us. We loved that they offer the option of small or large portions on their dishes, we got to sample a few different dishes instead of being confined to one entree each The goat cheese encroute was out of this world! It's a must try. The short rib and risotto were both great but somehow my husband's burger stole the show. Just a classic burger on brioche with gouda and crispy onions but maybe the best we'd ever had. I wish I could remember our server's name to shout her out. Our drinks were always full, she was quick to check on us and she was fun to chat with. We came in on the heels of a dinner that was as expensive as it was disappointing at The View up in Lake Placid the night before and we wished we'd just come to Bistro Leroux twice instead. If management is reading this she deserves a fist bump and an extra shifty! We came in on Sat 1/11 around 7:00 and sat at a two top booth just behind the host stand and we can't say enough good about her!
One of my fav places! Food, service incredible. I love going here so much. For the life of me I WISH they would offer gift certificates on their website.
A truly enjoyable dining experience! Excellent menu with both traditional & unique choices offered in both 1/2 & full potions. Freindly, attentive wait staff willing to explain any menu questions & offer nightly specials. Pricing is on par with fine dining establishments. Nice atmosphere. Reservations are advised.
One of the best, most consistent places to eat in the Queensbury, Lake George, Glens Falls area. The food is always great, well priced, and it's chef owned. 👌
We came in without a reservation & the place was packed. They were so kind & able to still find us a place to sit & eat. The food was so good! They have small & large versions of all their entrees so we got 3 small entrees to split between the two of us & it was plenty of food!
Everything that we got was great. The only person in our group who was disappointed was someone who ordered a burger, which I am sure was also fine. I mean, whatever, it's a burger. The rest of our food was fantastic, as were the drinks. Highly recommend the butter poached lobster risotto.
We read the backstory of the restaurant and decided to see if it lived up to it. OMG DID IT!! The environment was very welcoming. The service was great. Our waitress Sara was amazing. The food....outstanding!! We would say #1 best restaurant in New York....hands down. AMAZING JOB TO ALL. To the owners....THANK YOU!
Wow. Definitely a fantastic eating experience. After I had the soup it was pretty much "shut up and take my money". Everything was absolutely delicious. We ordered small plates so we could try more menu items, and that was the right idea. Absolutely a must to try this place. Make sure you get a reservation, there was literally a line out the door before they even opened.
I am absolutely ashamed of myself that I waited as long as I have to visit this amazing restaurant! The Roasted tomato and cognac bisque was a delight! For a New Englander, who spends much of her time as a chef, catering to the rich and famous, I assumed I would not be too impressed with the crab cakes...I was wrong! While my short ribs were a bit saltier than I like, they were absolutely delicious, but the hominy was the star...cooked to perfection, flavorful and a perfect match! The service is the best in the entire region. I will return!
The food was excellent. Our server was even more excellent! The atmosphere gives you the vibes of everything from family friendly to extremely romantic. Therefore, it's a place for anybody. Prices are expensive but realistic. You can get half portion plates for 15-20$ and double the portion for about 30$. But really, the half portion plates are plenty to fulfill your appetite. This is an all around nice place. I left very impressed.
Only the best at Bistro LeRoux. This place is chef owned and operated, and it shows in the quality and attention to detail. From the ambiance, to the food, and the service, not even COVID-19 can mar this restaurant's high standards. The truffle pommes frites are the best I've ever had in all my years and miles of travel. They are a perfect symphony of flavor and texture that have no rival. My entrée was the lobster risotto and its presentation was matched only by its flavor. As a curveball, the blueberry cheesecake martini was a fantastic dessert drink to sip on between courses. If you want to try everything, I recommend ordering the small portions. I left superbly satisfied without being grossly stuffed. A must do if you're in the Lake George area. Just be sure tk make a reservation during the pandemic time period.
Beautiful little restaurant. Great atmosphere and service. When people talk about a diamond in the rough this would be it. This place although it feels like it's in the middle of nowhere gives you service and cuisine on par with anything you'll find in any upscale dining strip. The Ahi-tuna roll was positively amazing. Of course good cuisine comes at a cost. But the prices were more than fair for the caliber of food you were receiving. Me and my wife will most definitely be returning on our next trip to Lake George.
Wow! The food has so much depth when it comes to the flavors and the wine was delicious. Our server was excellent and the meal was incredible. The decor is probably 3 star, but the food, wine and service are 5 star and it was truly wonderful. Share small plates and taste everything.
The food was exquisite. Our waitress was vary attentive and polite. We got the small dishes to share and try more options.
Let me start off by saying my fiancé and i’s experience here was amazing! From the second we got there we were welcomed by the very kind hostess and led to our booth right by the bar we had a great server as well we both started off with soups, the tomatoe soup for me has always been a staple here ever since I was young. I haven’t been back since 2017 ish and the tomatoe soup is as amazing as i remember it! My fiance got French onion and that was fantastic as well both had great flavor and were both a great temperature. Then we had the surf and turf, and the rack of lamb. Both were great and the way both dishes were layered and set up were amazing. The sides were well flavored and different from other restaurants in the area. We both got desserts. The molten chocolate cake and the apple pie. I haven’t been this excited about a restaurant in a long long time. The service the food and quality is something I look for. This place outperformed my expectations. I absolutely will be returning! And the small dish portions were a perfect size after the soups! Again a absolutely phenomenal experience!
I have traveled all over the US and much of the world, and this is my very favorite restauant! Delicious and innovative menu, 5 star always. I have never had a a sub standard meal! The chef owner and his crew are amazing! Thank you!
Excellent from beginning to end ! Service, ambiance and food are the best in the area. Accommodated my adult autistic son by allowing us to order the kids meal options for him (he is 21)… Overall 10/10 !!
My wife and I went here for our 1st anniversary, and everything and everyone was perfect Nicole was our server and was a delight through our meal into desert. I had the boar and elk Mac and cheese everything was delicious my wife had the coconut curry salmon dish and it was amazing we finished off with bread pudding never had better and she had the lemon bar which I can't recommend enough. It was a dinner to remember if you are looking for an amazing meal stop here you won't regret it. I would get a reservation to make sure you get a table they are popular for good reason.
This chef-owned and operated restaurant is a must visit every time we’re in Lake George! We first came here 10 years ago and it has remained a favorite ever since. The food is impeccable - the plating, the flavors, and the creative offerings are all outstanding. I highly recommend it! And for dessert… treat the kitchen to a round because they truly deserve it.
We had a delightful dinner here. The tomato bisque and beet salad were excellent. My friend got the short ribs with hominy which was outstanding. I had the vegetable risotto which was also excellent. The chocolate cake was very rich but delightful. Best restaurant in the Lake George area without a doubt.
This chef owned and operated facility was top tier. We were greeted by our hostess when we entered, as well as the chefs at the open concept kitchen area, before being promptly seated. Our server made sure we were well attended to throughout our service with drinks, food suggestions and an outstanding dessert recommendation. It's a small bistro style aesthetic that feels cozy and inviting. We ordered drinks, 3 small portions of some of their main dishes, dessert and a couple of dessert cocktails. The meals were the perfect size to try multiple dishes without being overfull. The chocolate mousse cup dessert was the perfect end to compliment the meal.
Birthday dinner. Packed house on a Wednesday night. Sat in the back room, very cozy space. House wine (very reasonable) and a signature cocktail. Both excellent. Small portions - crab cake app, cobb salad app. Again - both given high marks, the salad was addictively good. Surf & Turf for me and scallops for the Birthday girl. Scraped the plates clean, wonderfully tasty perfect done dishes. Excellent french bread accompanied with amazing butter was also a winner. Good service from John. Highly recommend the Bistro. Best foodie experience in a long while. Seriously higher cuisine levels happening here.
Excellent food! I promise you their food will just melt in your mouth. We decided to come here every time we visit Lake George area. Make sure to book in advance to secure a table. Enjoy! Don't tell too many people about it...;-) What to order: Their portions are big so get smaller portions and TRY EVERYTHING! START WITH: - French Onion Soup is a must - Ahi Tuna Roll (6 pieces) - Mascarpone Stuffed Poached Pear Salad (small) ENTREES: All amazing - Surf and Turf - Vegetable Risotto - Seared Sea Scallops - Cabernet Braised Short Ribs
I came here on a recommendatjon by a friend. It was extremely busy but Linda was very accommodating. We were seated quickly and attended to in no time. Let me say that this place is a gem. The food served is top tier. This place deserves all of it's success. If I was staying at Lake George for longer I would explore the entire menu. Do yourselves a favor and Eat here!
My favorite area restaurant, hands down. The food is always amazing, whether it is a special or off the menu. Save room for dessert & you can if you order a 1/2 portion. My favorite dessert is the bread pudding smothered in cashew caramel sauce. Always my birthday treat! Great servers & staff! A must whether you live here or are just visiting.
We were early for our reservation, but were seated promptly in the main dining room. Most everything on the menu is available as a half portion or a full portion. As we were traveling, the half portions were perfect as we had nowhere for leftovers. Everything was prepared perfectly. We had the Roasted Tomato Bisque, a wonderful corn-on-the-cob salad, the rainbow trout, and the Braised Short Ribs. For Dessert, we had bread-pudding and apple pie.
Didnt have much expectations but i was really impressed by overall expetience , booked by phone and arrived in time , took few minutes before sitting in our table , the service is very nice and friendly ,started with the berry black splash cocktail that i really liked , ordered truffle fries which was well seasoned but truffle taste was very subtle and could have been stronger , the lobster Risotto was great and nicely cooked , the aurf and turf was super good , nicepy cooked medium steak and the mashed potato side was a real hit , the 1 shrimp was a bit over cooked though. The watermelon goat cheese salad was amazing , so fresh and tasty . The only dish we didnt like at all was the tuna Ahi that felt not fresh and too fishy thatbwe had to send it back and they were very nice and didnt argue about it and removed from our check , we ended with a chocolate lave cake with vanilla ice cream and it was the best ending on high note . Overall great experience , strongly recommend.
My family has been coming here once a year for a few years now because it’s one of the best restaurants we’ve found in the area. They change the menu a bit every year but everything is always great. They are fairly creative with their menu, playing up things that are in season while still maintaining classic options. However, we thought the quality seemed a little worse this year than previous years. Not sure if we just didn’t like this particular menu (there was a lot of corn) or if there has actually been a shift.
We had a very nice meal here. We ordered the salmon and the chicken risotto. The food came out quickly and the service was good! I liked the presentation and the flavors were spot on! The one issue that I had was that the restaurant was not even half full and they sat us in a small table next to the kitchen, which was noisy. When we are paying $35 ust for our entree, I think they could have found us a nicer table than the one shoved in the corner.
Was a nice spot to make a reservation for our vacation. The food was decent, but the crab cakes specifically were delicious. The dessert options were a little lackluster/basic, and I'm not sure the price point matched the quality for me. The service was very friendly, engaging us in casual conversation as we were welcomed and seated us hastily, which was greatly appreciated.
We had a wonderful meal here! Everything was absolutely delicious. However, my partner ordered the half-size of the salmon dish and was told it would be about 4 oz….it was maybe 2 oz. When the meal came out it had a small slice of salmon on top of a half-dollar sized rice and bean cake and we were charged $17. A total rip off. My partner went home hungry after spending 40+ dollars on his meal alone and spending $300 for our table of five. Again, everything was delicious. Very unique options and wonderful staff. But expect modest portions and steep prices.
The sea scallops were brown in color and did not have the seared edges that is customary when scallops are properly cooked. The pork chop was somewhat dried out and not moist in taste.
We always look forward to our annual trip to LeRoux when in the LG area. It’s great to have an elevated dining experience with fresh food when most options are very casual. My typical rating for LeRoux is a five, but after visiting here this past weekend most of our group got sick. We ate a combination of short ribs, surf & turf, and tuna. Most of the dishes on the current menu seem to have corn as the side, base, or garnish. When the dishes are $44 each I except an actual vegetable and not a cheap filler veggie. Corn isn’t doing anything for these dishes. The pear salad felt like a dessert not an app. A candied pear, candied walnuts, and jam was just too much. This needed more vegetables to balance out the sweetness. Given the price points we are expecting a flawless experience and that just didn’t happen this time.
The best my wife and I were able to describe the “French food” was confusing. I’ve never seen so much corn used in dishes and I’m all for fusions when it works, but it didn’t. The soup and the fries were good. The drinks and the entrees were not. Service was great and it’s a romantic atmosphere.
We stopped here on a whim of my daughter’s recommendation as she lives there pesto fries! A reservation is recommended. We were seated quickly, our waiter John was great & very attentive without hovering! The atmosphere was bistroque. It was very easy to carry on a conversation even with a fairly full dining room. Our food arrived timely. Our apps onion soup( very good from an onion soup connoisseur) , crab cakes (fresh, crispy, tasty & hot-not filled with bread crumbs) & pesto fries were very good & tasty. Our entrees were a little disappointing… everyone’s risotto lacked flavor, was barely warm in temperature, flavorless & pasty. My pork chop beautifully presented but was dry & cool in temperature, my daughter’s salmon was good but barely warm & the boyfriend’s eggplant was good but his risotto was bland & pasty. We liked the option of smaller or regular sized portions for the apps & entrees. The lava cake (gf) was good, not warm or hot and no chocolate gushing out. We will definitely go back again to give it another try.
A friend recommended this place so I had a group of six get together for dinner. The service and drinks were great. I recommend the whisky smash. The food however was severely lacking for what I expected. I had the French onion soup as a starter which was lacking flavor and consistency. The braised short ribs were cooked to perfection but were over seasoned The bread pudding was the end of the meal which was very firm and disappointing.
Very disappointing… service was good but food was a total disappointment. Both entrees were served cold. As if they had been sitting out for too long. The lobster risotto was almost all corn and no flavor. The lobster was tough and certainly not “butter poached”. The scallops were only seared on one side and almost looked sliced in half. Both soups lacked flavor and seasoning. The pear marscapone salad was cold and overly sweet. The pear was candied but totally cold. The service was good but the food was not worth what we paid at all. Would never come back here. I don’t know maybe it was a very busy night but the food was not properly cooked as far as temperature and flavor totally lacking. If you’re do go here just prepare to be disappointed and prepare to add salt and pepper to your food. Also go early as 3 of the dishes on the menu were no longer available by 7:45pm. We really wanted the duck which was not available. We heard the table sitting next to us comment on the temperature of their steak as well that it was cold.
I went here for my birthday for a reservation at 6:30pm. We were sat right away which was great but we weren’t spoken to again until 7pm. No water, no greeting or “I’ll be right with you”. We went back up to the hostess and she apologized and sent our waitress over. If this was the end of it then I would be able to overlook this. We got French onion soup and Frites, which I will agree, was good. But our drinks were terrible. I had ice in my martini, and it was way too sweet. Then we ordered Lobster and Eggplant Risotto and both dishes were bland, cold and not worth even finishing. The risotto was overcooked, soupy. For $45 a plate, this place just isn’t worth it. I never take the time to put a review but…I would never find a reason to come back. Maybe focusing on less plating a dish and better flavors, and service.
10-21-23 We had the surf and turf and short ribs. Horrible service and even worse food. The short ribs tasted like bad chuck roast and the surf and turf was over cooked like it had been sitting for a long by time under a heat lamp. We were there for over 1 hour and 45 minutes. We spent the exact same amount the night before and that meal was a hundred times better. That meal was less than an hour. Bistro was just horrible service and foo see.
Ordered short ribs. Got chuck steak. Not even sure why the chef would do that. Tasted ok but NOT short ribs. A shame. C’est dommage.
