Opinions de Left Bank Larkspur
Left Bank offers outdoor dining. They are extending several Booth tables along the street that is beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the French onion soup which was absolutely delicious. And not too salty. Just exactly right. I ordered a butter lettuce salad and french fries❗red house wine🍷 yum❗Highly recommend. Been coming here for years. I wish my photos gave it justice. The weather was beautiful and the service was accommodating and attentive.💗💋
Left Bank truly delivered. Ever since my recent trip to France, I’ve been craving great French food, and this hit the spot. The escargot was rich and buttery, and the onion soup was deeply flavorful and perfectly comforting. Everything tasted classic and well executed. Dulce, our waitress, was wonderful and made the experience even better. Definitely a place I’ll be returning to.
Had a great dinner this Saturday at West Bank. We started with the liver mousse as an appetizer and it was excellent. We ordered the salmon and the halibut and both were delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Well done. A highly recommended French restaurant in Larkspur.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars A huge thank you to Frank Caiazzo for taking care of my party’s reservation and making sure everything was set for Thanksgiving dinner at Left Bank Larkspur. Our server Karina and maître d’ Yuiri delivered an absolutely wonderful experience — warm, attentive, and professional from start to finish. The entire team deserves major credit. Serving over 500 Thanksgiving dinners is no small task, yet they handled it seamlessly, with great energy and genuine hospitality. Amazing food, exceptional service, and an atmosphere filled with holiday spirit. Left Bank Larkspur made our Thanksgiving truly special. Highly recommend!
This is a very typical French Brasserie from someone who lived in France for 3 years. But we love it. The atmosphere is warm and lively. The servers are always great, warm, personable and very good at being a server. Most nights we come there is live music of some sort. The food is quite good and the profiteroles for dessert are amazing.
Amazing Customer Service. I was greeted with a warm welcome from the hostess. Dulce was Incredible! Despite that I was dining solo she made me feel like I wasn’t alone. Her beautiful spirit and hospitality made my experience Top Star. She asked me how I was feeling regarding still or sparkling water. I appreciate that question as typically I hear “Do you want anything to drink besides water.” I find this insulting. Dulce has the finess that is welcome by guests. Thank you Dulce for going above and beyond to make my experience Top Star.
Me and a few friends went in over the weekend and had a blast!! Kevin the GM stopped by the table to say hi. He is so sweet he even bought us dessert. Sophia was our server and told us about a delicious bottle of wine. We can’t wait to go back. Thank you so much left bank!!!
My friend and I had dinner on Friday night staff was very knowledgeable. Food was incredible. Kevin, I believe the general manager came by and was very sweet. He looked like he was having fun and looked like he knew almost everybody that came through the doors. I can’t wait to go back.
Amazing dinner for my friend's birthday. Truly above and beyond service! The bar made us non alcoholic spritzers. The food was so good-the fondue so yummy! We loved the onion soup, quail special was delicious especially the mashed potatoes with green beans and sauce. My friends loved the prosciutto and melon salad. The tartare was delicious. Can't wait to go back. Try to ask for the booths.
One of Marin's finest establishments. The nicest people work here. The staff that waits tables have been here for years and know the menu cold. I had the tuna niçoise salad. Medallions of seared ahi with capers and white anchovy on a perfect bed of lettuce and a light creamy dressing. Absolutely satisfying.
Was driving through Marin and ended up eating lunch here. We dined outside - given we had two dogs with us. The outdoor patio is very dog friendly. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The inside looks like a classic French brasserie. The food was all solid. I’d definitely return - especially to get the Lyonnaise salad, which isn’t an easy dish to find in the Bay Area…
I recently wrote a somewhat negative review of Left Bank due to food quality, prices and service. The manager called me to apologize and asked me to try them again. Three of us returned yesterday and were delighted with our meal and the service. The prices are high but it's Larkspur and Marin County so that is not a surprise. We were allowed to linger for more than two hours and the waitress and staff were extremely patient with our requests. We will be back.
The Left Bank Larkspur is on it again with excellent food, great service and the wonderful holiday festive ambiance of its heyday. It is still the right place to eat when one feels like eating a meal in Paris but with good service, a relaxing and lively atmosphere. The cheese fondue is as delicious as ever, and still just never quite enough to share without wanting a little bit more. I had a delicious bouillabaisse with a tasty saffron fennel broth choc full of fresh fish (Although it doesn't need tomatoes and potatoes in it). We shared a creamy, light luscious crème brûlé with a crisp top.The waiters and bus staff were all wonderful.
As a solo diner, I always appreciate the warm welcome from the host/hostess and the lovely bartender here. The food and service are solid. Not exceptional French food, but solid. I've been coming here for years and the table service is unpredictable. Just depends on the time of day and the server, But today must have been an off day. The coque monsuer came hot on top and cold inside. It took two tries before they got it right. For $21, you really can't give me a cold dish and expect me to be happy. $21. Think about that. And $24 for a glass of wine. At these prices there is no excuse for slop.
Great cocktails, okay good (except for the cheese and olives; can't go wrong there). Service is top rated, atmosphere is pretty good, just a bit pretensions. Good spot all around; can satisfy a lot of needs in your party.
The food is "fine", "ok", "mid". The greens in my salad were too large and needed to be cut. The dressing needed more acidity. The onion soup was good, not excellent, and had a ridiculous amount of melted cheese on top. My wife's paella had a clam sized rock hiding out with the clams (it happens?). It wasn't bad per se, but there's better food out there. The atmosphere is fun, it's a nice space. They were short staffed the night we were there, so service was a bit slow.
It was our first experience at Left Bank. The dining room is large, impressive but still homey. The food was OK at best. The lobster bisque was creamy and satisfying. The mango dressing on the crab salad sounded good but did not enhance the flavor of the salad. We would have preferred the traditional Crab Louie. The Cassoulet special was a disappointment. It had a good flavor and very meaty (almost too). The slices of sausages were burnt on one side. But it was very dry lacking a creamy sauce. A touch of parsley would have been nice.
Left bank was a bit better than it was 10 years ago, my last visit. Fries and oysters were loved by 11 year old! And fries cooked as requested. the halibut at $38 for lunch was okay.Husbands duck confit was good but dry. The annoying part was the added 3% for paying staff. I prefer that be paid by restaurant or increase the prices. For a $250 lunch felt nickel amd dimed.
Here are my pros and cons of this restaurant(also visiting from out of town): pros- beautiful setting, I loved the outdoor seating and the paintings inside, the French onion soup was AMAZING and the Créme Brûlée was very good too especially with the shortbread cookies. Cons- I made a reservation and when we got to the door the hostess looked like she had no idea where our table was so she picked a random table right by the door. We were a little cold every time the door would open, it would’ve been a little nicer to have been seated somewhere else. I ordered the “Coq Au Vin” which looked absolutely nothing like it does on the website (pictures are very deceiving). It was like I was eating more of the marinated wine than the chicken. I also thought it was just a little bitter for my liking. One last thing, Ive never been to a restaurant where bread and butter wasn’t automatically served when they serve you water. We had to pay $5 for that. Oh well! Other than that, everyone else at the table liked their dishes! I would love to come back again to hopefully have a better experience and maybe order something else!
