I’ve eaten here three times now and I have been soo impressed with the quality of food everytime. It’s always hot, fresh and very tasty. Staff are really professional, friendly and the pub itself is really cozy. Traditional, clean, cozy, country pub. Plus they have two black labourers who are great.

Lovely country pub with loads of character. Good food and really friendly staff. We camped in the field behind which is basic but suited us for an overnight break. Situated in a quaint little street with a little churchyard 5 minutes stroll away. Definity recommend this place.

Tuned up unannounced and was treated extremely well. Fantastic find off the beaten track, friendly, outstanding service and great locals. Pie of the day hit the spot after a long day outside Thank you again! Mike and Emily

Dropped in for a few gin and tonics with friends. We are from out of town, actually from Sydney, Australia. Absolutely love the ambience here! Such a cute little pub.

Had a wonderful homemade beef and ale pie, beautiful creamy mash and great veg. We were kept company by Hudson the black lab/retriever who welcomed us as we came in from the rainy storm outside. Such a cozy place, plenty if room. When the fires are on I can imagine it's harder to leave. Very friendly staff considering I hadn't booked. Plenty on the menu to encourage me back, and didn't break the bank either.

Absolutely fantastic food and beer. Mussels starter was so good - nice warm bread to soak up the lovely sauce. Brisket “burger” was tender and tasty. My Husband got the full rack of ribs, side of onion rings. Both of us walked away stuffed. Lovely atmosphere and COVID-19 safe. Will certainly go here again. Highly recommend.

The six bells was a great find for my hiking buddies and I a few years ago. Been going back when I can since then. Latest visit was Sunday 30th Jan 2022 for Sunday roast. Had the beef, excellent, well stocked with a variety of vegetables and the sirloin was perfect. It’s a great place, loads of space, wood fires, great friendly staff, plenty of menu options and real ale. Thoroughly recommend it.

We stopped at this charming village pub for a quick pint whilst walking in the area. It was a Saturday lunchtime and we were surprised to find the pub was very quite. The decor inside was appealing and the staff were friendly. We sat in the garden area at the rear of the pub in a lovely setting and glorious sunshine. We enjoyed our visit so much that we returned at the end of our walk for another visit.

Been meaning to visit this pub for a while as friends had been. It didn't disappoint. The interior is old style pub with lots of antlers on the walls. Sunday lunch was a huge plateful of meat with all the trimmings. Still need to do a bit of work on the gluten and dairy free front. Always busy.

Amazing food, lovely setting, friendly staff and value for money. We've eaten here several times now and never been disappointed. Just a Sunday roast to try!

There was a group of 4 of us and all of had a really nice time. Lovely food, price was reasonable, staff were good, and atmosphere was good too - what more could I ask for. I definitely want to go again

Had a great relaxed meal at the Six Bells today. Decent selection on the menu made choosing a conundrum. My friends opted for the lamb and mint pie and the brisket burger and shared half each. Very clever, but he is a clever man and I know that because he told me so. All of the dishes are created in-house and the quality was superb. The greedy ones went for a dessert and over indulged making the near five mile walk back a challenge. Lovely hostess made us feel very welcome despite us lingering past closing time which made us embarrassed when we found out. Highly recommended and we will be returning soon.

Excellent Sunday lunch, great quality and generous portions. Landlady very welcoming and despite being right at the end of service, no hurry to finish up. Definitely worth a visit

Very enjoyable lunch. Delicious sharing starter of cheese and onion bread. Burger main and Strak and Ale Pie also very good, obviously made in-house. Friendly efficient service. Would definitely recommend

Went for a 60th birthday, table of 17. Service was fantastic, real friendly and super efficient even for a large party. Great atmosphere, lovely country pub with a friendly resident hound, who came to our table for lots of cuddles. The chips were the best chips I've ever had! The brisket burger was a nice change to a regular ground beef burger and the bacon jam was lush. Would definitely go again.

Delicious food. Very generous portions. We both had the rump steak, I couldn't finish mine....that's unheard of. Thrice cooked chips.. dangerously good. At £23 we thought it was a good price. We always return here when we go out. A lovely pub, neverchad a bad meal. Rachel our waitress/barmaid was the best!!!

Now under new management the pub is less cluttered. It is set up for eating but there was a good few people drinking at the bar. It had a good atmosphere and the open fire made the place feel cozy. There are three rooms laid out for eating. The menu is not huge and they do Sunday roasts. The quality of the food our table had was good as was the wine. The place has a lot of history. Worth a visit. Just been on an evening visit. In the past few months I have been back a few times. Very pleased to say the atmosphere is great and the staff/management are really letting their personality shine through. Food is still excellent, any problems are dealt with quickly and professionally and it's buzzing in the early evening. It's a lovely pub and I can see that the beer garden at the back would be a great place to spend a sunny weekend afternoon (when the Sun actually returns). Menu has expanded and the fresh fish is excellent. Hope they keep up the good work !

Nice ancient pub in tiny village. Food is really good. Leave room for a dessert - so good. Good sized dining area. Also large garden with seating (but lacking atmosphere and a trek across carpark to access). Easy walk across footpaths from Lavenham: nice place to take a break.

Lovely traditional country pub, we came here for a family meal and had a range of different food between us, the southern fried chicken burger was lovely however i didn't like sultanas in the coleslaw! The Fish&chips were very well cooked, and the homemade pie went down well. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious but definitely worth sharing as it's very sweet. Service was great and overall we had a very chilled evening Would recommend and we will definitely go back

Literally the best Sunday roast you'll get in Suffolk and has been for years. Don't believe the slightly negative review on the red cabbage. The red cabbage is divine.

Found this beaut of a pub. Food was amazing all freshly made and cooked, the service was warm and welcoming. Plenty parking and space to sit. Can't wait to come back. Hudson the dog absolutely gorgeous and great company when comes say hi.

Ancient pub in an historic building at the centre of a quiet village. The Sunday lunch we had was excellent - my trad beef, the SO's nut roast and our companion's fish & chips were all top notch. Everything on my plate - which included a delicious onion marmalade - was first class. A small menu of well judged dishes which changes, we were told, monthly. A very good range of beer on tap and you could see, from the number of locals dropping in for a pint, that the pub is well used by the community. Added to my list of nearby pubs to drop along to.

Such a lovely warm welcome from the 3 ladies behind the bar, very quick efficient table service with drinks and food. The menu was for mothers day but still plenty of choice amazing roast followed by rhubarb crumble with vanilla custard. On our leaving I mentioned it was my birthday and one of the staff ran out after me asking me to wait 1 minute, I was then presented with a beautiful cupcake, a lovely and much appreciated gesture.

All food is homecooked! We stopped here by accident and were delighted with our meal. Portions were very generous, chips perfect and the puddings exceptional!

Sunday roast in a cosy, traditional Suffolk pub? Look no further! Perfectly cooked roast beef with all the trimmings, best I’ve had in a long, long time. Cauliflower cheese included in the roast was delicious. Hudson the Labrador pup is a gorgeous boy with the most beautiful temperament. A very good boy! We will absolutely be returning 👌🏻🙏🏻 Thank you!

Lovely pub, staff (2 youngish lads) and food! Sunday roast was very generous and the vegetarian nut roast option was very tasty. Chocolate brownie with hazelnut ice cream dessert I would highly recommend… Definitely be going back for more!

Fantastic local pub for a great Sunday roast. We ate here at the weekend, and couldn't have asked for more. Friendly staff, fast service, great food and a really affordable price in comparision to some. Thanks, and we'll be back!

I thought that I knew most of the pubs in my area of this part of Suffolk having lived here for over fourteen years but stumbled across this one in the middle of nowhere. It was lunchtime and there was only one car parked outside which I thought didn't augur well. But on opening the door we could see many people occupying the place and their was a nice vibe. We were lucky enough to find a table right by the very warm and inviting log fire. Our food order was taken quickly and it soon arrived on our table look scrumptious. A very large obviously home-made pastry pie with the pastry complete surrounding a dark, melting, pull apart lamb feast which was delicate and delicious with an unctuous dark gravy sitting on a bed of light mash. We both thought that there was no way that we would do these plates justice but slowly we demolished the walls and the crusty pastry top and eventually cleared our plates. A good pint or two of beer too to wash it all down. We shall return and bring others to this lovely pub.

We where recommended to the bells by a friend, This is one of the best pub Sunday roasts we have had ever. Lovely tender beef plus about seven different vegetables and great gravy. No need to go anywhere else after finding this lovely country pub with very friendly and helpful staff.

Lovely old pub, with old school locals at the bar and families have Sunday rosts The food is lovely with just enough food on the plate, with it not being too much or too little, The only thing I will say what I got be negative about, is that I did not see what came with the rosts, and the here was way to much red cabbage. But other than that it was a lovely meal with lovely paintings on the wall, and friendly staff, inside a lovely old building what is from the 1400s So decently give this place a go

I understand this place is now under new ownership. We went on a Sunday for lunch as a party of 4. Three starters and four mains. I started with the soup of the day - it was tomato, and generally pretty solid, although lacked a little flavour a little more seasoning, but good consistency - the bread provided was poor. The other two starters were mussels - generally considered good. For mains we had 2 roast beef and 2 roast porks. We all agreed that the meat was excellent and the vegetables were top notch. Service and drink selection were good. Overall whilst the starter for me was rather average (lack of seasoning and defrosted bread instead of roll), the overall meal was thoroughly enjoyable and a nice atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

What a lovely welcome from Daisy such a lovely girl. we couldn’t stay as long as we’d have liked as had to walk back to Lavenham before it got dark but had fabulous fish and chips best chips had in ages not McCain. They had the fire going really cosy wish we lived nearby.

Had a lovely meal here on Thursday evening. This is a very clean, traditional pub and the food was excellent. The portions were large, the steaks cooked perfectly and the service was friendly. We had very flavoursome starters and, sadly, were unable to sample the dessert menu. We had a wonderful relaxed evening.

We had an excellent lunch at the pub for four people, there was plenty of options on the menu, all dishes were of the highest quality and were all made in house. We spent 50 minutes over the closing time just chatting at the table and hadn’t realised they closed at 3pm so apologies again for over staying our welcome. Will definitely return.

Nice country pub in small Suffolk village. Went there for Mother's day lunch. Good selection plus the regular Sunday roasts for mains, plus starters and desserts. Large platefuls, which sadly meant we were too full to sample the equally large desserts we saw passing our table to other punters! Good value for money and good wholesome British fare.

A decent offering in a cutesy village setting with kid and dog friendly service inside and out.

First time here for a meal, lovely old building (15th century) which has been renovated inside. Gorgeous open fires, which were lit (on 2nd June, but that's British weather for you!!). Small yet varied menu, with some locally sourced items. Mains and desserts we chose were delicious. Would certainly return for the food and attentiveness from staff. I only personally scored 4 out of 5 stars as I didn't personally like all the taxidermy on the walls.

A lovely pub in a really nice village location. The food was great, a nice selection that catered for all tastes & diets, all at a reasonable price. Nice place for a Sunday lunch!

B

Great for a quick drink but despite having at least three tables empty without reserve written on them they don't want to serve 1 cyclist not even have a look to see if they could fit me in just an outright no.
