Best Jamaican food in this neck of the woods. Love their oxtail and curry goat, but other entrees are solid too. Patties are the best, perfectly spicy and full of flavor. All the sides are great, too, always hard to pick just three. The place is kinda meh inside, but similar to other Jamaican restaurants. We usually get take out.
Love this place. You get a lot of food for your money. It's worth it. Everything is good here, but the Oxtail is amazing! Curry and jerk are great, too!! Love the cabbage and Mac...so delicious!!!
This place is in the cut however I got Curry goat & my wife got oxtails the rice was good the cabbage was good the food was good. If we on that side of town again we will get food from here thank you for sharing your good food.
My favorite Jamaican Spot! I love authentic flavor and spice and they hit that perfectly. I personally recommend the jerk chicken plate if you love spicy food and the ginger pineapple juice to pair.
The is always Amazing! The owner and staff is so welcoming.
Just stopped by for my first time today and it was delicious, quick, and good service. The curry chicken lunch special was great and so were the beef patty’s. I plan on bringing my family and trying much more (oxtail first) and recommend it to everyone.
I am very picky about Jamaican food because everyone doesn’t make it good. I have been coming here for a few years now. The owner is sweet and very kind. I love the fruit punch I think they put crack in it! Lol. My favorite dishes are the brown stew chicken, jerk chicken, and ox tails.
Great food. Great Service. Everyone is so nice. I must admit that the Jerk Chicken is really hot. So if that's not your proclivity, try some of the other items that are flavorful but not as hot. Love this place and the people who work and cook with Love.

Every time I’m in the LA are I stop by to grab a plate from here. My favorites are their oxtails and pepper steak. So much flavor. I’ll be back in about 6 weeks!
First time trying their foods. It was delicious. I ordered chicken place. It came with a meat, good portion of rice cabbages and a sweet banana dessert for a good price. I finished them.
First time here, cashier recommended the pepper steak. And its delicious, meat is super tender and good flavor. The mac n cheese is fire. Definitely coming back.
The staff is always nice. The food is always AMAZING. I've literally tried almost everything on the menu. My favorite is the oxtails😁 And if you're a ginger lover, you have to try the Pineapple Ginger juice.
Always wonderful AUTHENTIC food. My number 1 fave in Cali. The beef Patties & Mac n cheese are to die for. Rice and peas are great, everything is always so tasty
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Authentic Jamaican Food Worth Every Bite! My mother lives in Torrance, and when I saw her neighbor’s plate one day, I just had to ask where she got food like that from because I know they don’t have anything like that in that area! She told me it came from a spot in Hawthorne, and that’s how I found this gem. On October 4th, after our cancer walk, my friends and I went to eat. I really wanted to try this place, even though my friends wanted to go somewhere else but I’m glad I stood my ground because everyone ended up loving it! Now, I’m pescetarian, but my four friends aren’t. Two ordered oxtails, one got the beef stew, and two of us got meat-free plates. Let me tell you, I almost questioned my no mrat life that day! 😅 My friend let me taste a bit of her beef stew, and that sauce was so good it made the oxtails take a back seat — and that’s saying something! My meal was all sides: callaloo (not my cup of tea), rice and peas, mac and cheese, yams, and plantains. The plantains were a little dry for my taste, but everything else was absolutely delicious. The mac and cheese and yams were my favorites. I also ordered the bread — heavenly! The lady at the counter was so sweet, and you could tell the cook puts love into the food. Two of my girlfriends ordered lemonades, which they said were really good — they just wished refills were an option since we were dining in. That would be a nice little touch! The only thing I didn’t go for was the fish — $42 for a fish dinner felt a bit overpriced. But other than that, everything was top-tier. Everyone left full and happy, and we’ll definitely be back. If you’re further out and don’t want to make the drive, they’re on Uber Eats and DoorDash not sure how long it’ll take, but it’s definitely an option to get that authentic flavor delivered.
FOOD WAS AMAZING!! So fresh & homey! Service was AMAZING & FRIENDLY! Highly recommend the jerk chicken if you love spice. Mac & cheese, cabbage & plantains had such amazing flavor! Oxtails were great too! Thank you!!!
Still the original cook love it, as the food is amazing one of my favorite place for a long time
One of the better Jamaican restaurants in the South Bay area. I got the Jerk chicken dinner with three sides which after taxes comes to around $24.00 or so, but the food is worth it. They also have lunch specials, but only during the week. Definitely would recommend to those fans of Jamaican cuisine.
This is the best Jamaican food experience I've ever had in comparison to their competitors. Great infusion of American soul food options. Tasty selections are authentically prepared by the Jamaican owner with love. Which is the most important part and a huge reason why I support this establishment. Authentic people cooking their authentic food, finally someone is getting it right! Thank you! I highly recommend dining in the restaurant, which is pleasant and smells so good. There is a television in the dining area and you feel right at home. Also, you can call in your order to save time, which I've also done for my to go order. The staff is super nice and friendly to everyone. You're missing out big time if you haven't tried this place yet! I heard about them through a friend then Googled the location.

Tried the curry goat and oxtail, and most of the sides. SO GOOD. Loved it. The spicy jerk sauce is no joke.
The food is amazing! Definitely can taste the home made food and heart in this little spot!. Ya must try the coco bread Pattie’s! The beef one is soooooo good! Jerk chicken it’s one of my favorites! Even when they cook the oxtail smells amazing!. Give it a try! Support local business🙏🏻.
Dropped by for takeaway lunch on Saturday and found the woman serving really kind and helpful. Took home a combo plate with jerk chicken and oxtail to share with my husband. Really delicious! I particularly enjoyed the jerk chicken with rice and plantains. My husband loved the Mac and cheese. Will visit again!
My family loves everything there the food is amazing and the owner and staff are awsome, thier friendly and caring. It's like our home away from home.. We recommend you to stop by and try their menu, it will be worth it. 💯%
I’ve been coming here for years and always walk away satisfied. The jerk sauce is actually spicy and the oxtail is insanely good. I see a lot of low ratings because the oxtail is too “fatty”. The fat is where all of the flavor is at, and many like myself appreciate it.

This place is always great for the fast service it has during the lunch. Period. The older lady at the front desk is always one of the sweetest ladies to order from them. I usually come here once a week to try something different on the menu and the food lives up to its expectations. So far, I’ve tried the curry chicken and the jerk chicken, lunch combo, and the mac & cheese.
The food is so delicious! I was in the area and had to get me some Jamaican food since quality in Ventura County doesn't get good reviews. It was a wait, getting my order. I question how much longer I would have had to wait if I didn't get the worker's attention. I will visit again to try more than just the oxtail and curry goat.
Ok so Ocho is my go to place for my Jamaican food due to the the Jerk chicken being ever so tender, flavorful, smoked and spicy! The peas and rice is put together so well that it is hard to stop eating and the plantains are always soft and sweet. The cabbage is a just right seasoned buttery masterpiece. I never forget to get a ginger drink to wash everything down. The oxtails usually falls off the bone due to being so tender but at my last visit they didn’t do that and I was a bit saddened. There is a lady that’s always there to greet you with a very warm smile. If you like Jamaican food you should give them a try!
Service is always great. It seems they cook to order most entrees, so be prepared to wait unless you order the meat pies. I've had most of their sides and the ox tails. (I can't eat spicy food). The flavor never disappoints. Recently their prices increased, so it is, a bit more than I would pay for this kind of entree regularly. If you're OK to splurge every now and again, give them a try. Cabbage along with their rice and peas are two of my favorite sides.
The lady taking our order was kind and gave us her opinions of good entree combinations. The food took about 10 min or so. Everything tastes great. Side note: I like spicy food, and that jerk chicken is SUPER spicy!
It was my first time. I thought the jerk pork could have been juicier. The jerk sauce could be a little spicier. I liked the oxtail.
My go 2 spot for delicious authentic carribean cuisine what's on the menu oxtails in a succulent gravy, jerk spicy chicken, curry chicken is excellent and don't skip the curry goat Ohh yeah the beef& chicken patties are scrumptious they also have a fresh blend of fruit punch a must try and a variety of Jamaican sodas!!!

The food was only so so. The yams were good. Cabbage had no seasoning. The festival bread was delicious.
We ordered a oxtail and curry chicken dinner on 5.7.23 for approximately $55.00, only to receive very very dark and dry oxtail. The curry chicken was good but there was so much curry on the rice the rice was mushy. The cabbage was under seasoned.Disappointed, we wasted our money!
Overall tasty, and a bit pricey but that's expected within this territory, I'm not Jamaican, but I'm from NY, and I'm pretty sure Jerk Pork isn't traditionally done the way they serve it, maybe limitations at location doesn't allow for traditional grilling, nevertheless, it was very tasty and spicy, will be back to try the Curry Goat, hope I won't be disappointed.
Its ok. I just miss NY Jamaican food. I don't like the fact that in my Stewed Chicken there are still so many cloves. There are so many that i had to start picking them out. I'll come back one more time to try the Ox-Tails, then make a final review...

I’ve been coming to Ocho Rios Grill for a few years whenever I visit SoCal, and while it’s usually been good, my last visit in June was disappointing. Service was welcoming—greeted and helped by the older lady I believe is the owner—but the food didn’t hold up. I ordered a jerk chicken and oxtail combo to go; the oxtail was tender and tasty enough, but the jerk chicken was dry and tough to chew. The rice didn’t taste fresh, and the side of plantain was way too small. The patties were also overly oily, which took away from the flavor. I’ve had better experiences here in the past, but my last two visits haven’t been great. Not sure if I’ll be back anytime soon.

The person helping was a very nice person, however the food was not good. The Mac and cheese was tangy like it was made with spoiled dairy and the cabbage was over cooked. The jerked chicken was way too hot like it was soaked in jerk sauce for days. The oxtails were cooked very well. Unfortunately I won’t be eating here again.
First of all, I was the only one in the restaurant and it was a thirty minute wait. Okay, the salmon have to be cooked fresh, but why was it so dry!!! It was over cooked! I had salmon at the Yard House the two nights ago and it was soooo delicious, moist, and seasoned just right.I was hoping for a similar experience, but no not at all! I love island food, and this restaurant does have tasty plantains, Mac n Cheese, and sweet yams. Too sweet for me, but my dad loved them. As for the Jerk Shrimp, too spicy! Everyone doesn’t he food with that much heat. It would have been to have an option for the Jerk Shrimp. When I called to complain because our two dinners with tip was over $60!
This was my first time trying Jamaican food. I ordered 6 items to pickup on door dash; 1- fried shrimp combo plate, 1-Jerk chicken + meat combo, 3 patties, ginger pineapple drink. I arrived and waited patiently until called up for service. Received my bag which felt light and no drink. I asked the employee about the drink, she came around and fixed the drink. I then asked her to check my bag for all the items, which had not been opened and gave her my phone showing the order. Bagged items included fried shrimp, curry chicken. The owner/manager stated from behind the window “the order is correct-the order IS CORRECT”. The employee stated I was missing my patties and returned with said items but was too nervous to continue checking. The owner/manager lady was mad and began reprimanding the employee while being fake nice. I didn’t bother to explain my order was still not fulfilled. I left knowing my first Jamaican food experience was trashed, I spent $76, in guess the owner got a $24 tip and I knew I was never returning. Food was good, owner/manager was wake. 1. She could have just allowed the employee to check the order. 2. She could’ve checked the order herself 3. She should’ve reprimanded the employee after my order was corrected and left the restaurant and trained her up 4. I don’t want a refund it’s better to not return
We wanted some good home cooking and decided to stop by this restaurant. I saw the reviews and gave them the benefit based off the reviews. I got the curry chicken and he got the brown stew. First off, the prices were super high for a regular chicken dinner. Second, it lacked flavor. They are generous with portion size but that doesn't matter if the flavor is lacking. The pineapple ginger juice was good tho and the young lady that cashed us out was sweet. It pains me to say this considering its black owned and operated which I love and want to support but Overall I don't think I'd come back.
The place was nice but the food was so spicy I couldn't eat it. The owner gave me half off and offered a vegetable plate. My husband loved the pepper steak. I had him taste my food and he had flames coming out of his mouth. I felt better because he thought I was just being difficult. Pepper should be added by the patron not the cook. I wasted my money and went to red lobster.
The worst Jamaican patties I have every had in my life. The meat was dry and old. I wasted $40.00 ordering 4 chicken & 4 beef patties to be delivered. They all went in the trash. I will never spend my money at Ocho Rios Grill again. The cook and owners should be ashamed of themselves for serving food thats is not eat able.
Yet another Black owned business in this area I was highly disappointed with. I walked in for the 1st time, I was the only customer. An older black lady took my order, and she was extremely rude, she rushed me through the menu, I gave her the card to pay for the 26 dollar meal, then she decided to drill me for my bank card because I gave her a different name for the order and asked for id. When I got the food everything was over cooked, especially the mac and cheese. It was like pudding. The rice was over cooked, the cabbage over cooked, The goat was good, but I will never ever return back here because of the little black woman that took my order and made me feel like a criminal when I just wanted to support them. They will never get my support again.
Second time there and had to wait 15 min to be acknowledged. Then DoorDash comes right in and gets served in front of me. Ridiculous! Still no order taken and no eye contact. My money is my voice! Never again
First let me say this I love Jamaican food.. This was not authentic jamaican food at all.. The oxtails had so much fat on it.. The oxtail plate was 25.00 for 4 fatty oxtails. This was horrible. The flavor was bland. The rice had no peas in it. I can't believe they are still in business.. Don't wast your time or money. It was not worth it.
Let me start by saying I’m from Houston so maybe my taste buds are a lil different but the oxtails with rice and peas was not good at all the oxtails were rubbery and the rice and peas were not good the seasoning was lacking. I suggested she taste Cool Runnings in Houston before I tasted their food. Im more than convinced that they need a lil help . Im sorry I loved the customer service and promptness. The restaurant was clean and nice. All of that was perfect the product is seriously lacking.
Food Poisoning. Chicken was not only still bleeeding but was uncooked throughout. The meat is literally pink. Yams smell & tasted sour. Most expensive curry chicken I have ever had & lowest quality. I will be reporting this restaurant.
This is not Jamaican food. The fat from the oxtail was not removed and the rice was drenched with gravy, making it hard to digest. Also, the festival isn’t like normal festival, expect to bite down hard in a ginger-stuffed roll🙄. I would not recommend at all.
