Herrera's Mexican & Seafood

Regular visitor here. 5 stars reflective of its category - a small Mexican dining venue. The attraction starts with the incredibly congenial staff. They seem to be sincerely glad to see you. I feel like family. But I nearly always choose one of their Specials, "Big Plate," a Tostada, taco, and two roled tacos. Good stuff. But I also enjoy virtually any of their many choices of combination plates, partly to ensure I can grab sides of beans and rice; especially the rice. My personal favorite is the burrito and taco combo. Mexican food usually relies on the "secret" condiments and spices that create appeal to the customer in the hopes they will return. I've returned. Again and again.

The servings are huge and delicious! I got the Adobada plate with rice n beans... could barely make a dent in it, but I rewarmed it later and spread it over chips...dang! The food is still so delicious 😋

I was looking for a solid California burrito around here and found this place. 10/10 I have been coming back since I tried it and I don’t think I’ll be going elsewhere

This place is honestly so underrated. Food and service is always excellent. One of the best spots in San Diego for authentic Mexican.

Family operated business, the employees are super nice and the food is excellent! I have been eating here for a very long time. My go to is the rolled tacos, rice and beans plate but the carne asada chips, fries, and chilaquiles are all bomb. The salsa is also excellent which, for me, can be a deal breaker when it comes to a taco shop. If the salsa doesn't have good flavor or tastes old I won't keep going to that spot. I recommend eating in if you can only because I like my cheese freshly shredded on top rather than melted which happens when you take it to go. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed!!

This place was the best carne asada burritos I've had so far in the area, lots of flavor and decently priced. They are consistent but if you go there for awhile it depends on who's cooking cause sometimes it doesn't taste as good. Hot sauce nice and spicy and their Carne asada chips are fully loaded and fries are good too! No drive through and a few bums hang around the area so I usually call ahead to pick up but they are fast on service.

Been coming here since we moved in the area years ago. Always greeted with a smile, very quick service, and real authentic Mexican food. I love getting their menudo, tacos, and burritos. This place is legit, if u get a chance go support this local family owned business.

This taco shop is wonderful. Wonderful customer service. And amazing food, this place is one of the top 5 places to go when you want to grab something to go or simply sit and feast and fatten up. Glad to have a family business near me. Keep it up and can’t wait to come by again.

High Quality Mexican Food. I Love it. Well worth your bucks. Breakfast here is so bomb!! It's open super early 7am wich is awesome! The cashier will attend you so fast. He won't waste your time.

I recently moved back to SD. This place has the best California burrito imo. Instead of French fries they put in grilled potatoes..onions tomatoes and cheese. Absolutely the best in san diego.

My neighborhood taco shop! I love this place. Reasonable prices, good quality, great customer service. Their chilaquiles are the jam! Everything I've had from here is delish. Unassuming but this place is more than what meets the eye!

First time here. Meat was super tasty and california burrito was spot on. Wife got fish tacos and said she enjoyed them and said pico was fresh.

Carne asada fries were really good. Meat was tender and juicy, hot sauce was good also. 🤤 We will be back.

I’ve only had 2 burritos. The Adobada and the Fish Burrito. Very good quality in pork and the fish was Bass. They were both fresh and the white sauce on the fish was great. The lady was nice and the food only took about 7 minutes (during down time). The inside just looks like a standard taco shop. The size is good for the price you pay. I’m looking to come back and try the rolled tacos and caldo res after I burn off some calories from my last visit.

Herrera's is a mom and pop taco shop, estillo San Diego. Great quality Mexican food, and they always get my order right, even with all of my kids different requests and submissions and additions. Love this place, one of our weekly spots.

They do a lot well. You'll enjoy your food. Ask for fries instead of potatoes in your Cali and breakfast tho.

I personally didn’t eat here but it was easy to order and they made the food quick. Next time I will have to try their food. 8/10

Food was ok tasting. Ordered the Big Plate and a bistec ranchero plate. The Big Plate comes with a drink, but it was a canned drink. Total rip off to the regular cup size and refills you could get before. Flavor was a little lackluster compared to other visits to this place. Also, it was extremely greasy and must've been old grease that was used as both my dining partner and I became sick after eating here. Used to like coming here, but after this last visit probably won't be back. Their cashier was nice and the dining area was clean.

Poor costumer service.. please double check on your to go order. Also have in mind that you will wait 10 to 35 minutes to get your food, it’s just no management here at all . The food is always good!

Good customer service. Everyone was very friendly. However, I ordered the Calufornia Burrito and it seems very mediocre. Carrie asada had no taste, the burrito didn't have any flavor. Overall, not a great experience if you are going to order a California burrito.

There wasn't much fish in it either--there was really hardly anything. The fish had an off--taste to it, too. The burrito looked fairly big but looks were deceiving. At most restaurants like this I go to, the meal I get fills me up. Here, I'm hungry just minutes after finishing it.

$11 before tax for this surf and turf burrito. only had shrimp, steak, rice and cheese, and some kind of sauce that I couldn’t tell was there… still ate it though. I think I’m gonna stick to the surf and turf from Vallarta Express :(

There is no signage saying that they add $.50 penalty for using a card. Just a surprise when you pay. Mentioned this to the girl. Her response was it says it on the little screen where you put the card. The food is almost average. The booths are worn.

I did order a seafood soup the put lot of potatoes in there not supposed to happen no taste at all

I went here to get a burrito and I was completely disappointed. The wrapping of the burrito was done half ass and the tortilla was under cooked. The insides of the burrito was all slimy and mashed together. I couldn't even see my french fries. I went here once before, when I was younger and didn't remember how it tasted like. Perhaps it was better then. But now, it's nasty--at least what I ordered was. Plus the empty restaurant was a big give away. Never coming again. (On the bright side, customer service was nice and food came out fast....too fast...)
