Normally I don’t give reviews. But my father and my children we love coming to this restaurant. The food is great, and there are always new specials on the menu. The staff is upper friendly and welcoming and of course the atmosphere is beautiful.
Really enjoyed our date night here. We ordered the coffee & coca rubbed venison, lamb kabobs, carrots, focaccia, cucumbers & drinks. Everything was elevated and flavorful. It was nice to see people dressed up. It was fancy but it wasn’t pretentious. Zac took great care of us & we appreciated his drink & food recommendations. Nice atmosphere, not too dark or too loud.
I organized a group business dinner for 18 people here and it was amazing. We used to go to Jeff Rubys every year, but we will be switching to Epping’s from here on out. Staff was great, food was delicious and the venue was the perfect size.
Delicious food, upscale atmosphere and kid friendly. Our server Paul was fantastic. Bottomless Mimosas. Can’t ask for a better weekend brunch spot for the family.
Let me start with what should not be confused with as hyperbole: I had the best meal of my life here. My wife and I took our three young children here for an anniversary dinner. It was during restaurant week, so they had an adjusted menu. We ordered the four course meal and then one large plate and two small plates. They had a children’s menu, but we prefer to have our kids experience more food than just grilled cheese, buttered noodles, burgers, and other typical kid’s menu choices. We all just shared each of the dishes as they came out. Some of our favorites were the gnocchi, chicken satay, skirt steak, and lamb kabob. However, every dish was incredibly tasty and unique. There was this tomato jam on one of the dishes that was amazing. The staff were fantastic with our kids and the other patrons were very pleasant as well. There is convenient parking, and even though the restaurant was full on a Friday night, it didn’t feel busy or crowded. Thank you for a fantastic meal!
There aren't a lot of places that do it as well as Epping's does. The food and drink are consistently excellent, perfectly cooked and served with a sincere smile. Best smashburger, hands down; great happy hour options. Highly recommended. 👏👌
Happy coincidence my wife saw this place across our destination. We absolutely loved our experience here. From the ambiance to the food and service. Everything was exceptional. Krystle was such a great server. We obviously enjoyed their happy hour and excellent wine selection. The special of the night was delicious. And management handled an issue that exceeded our expectations. We will be back to enjoy more of their menu.
We dined on a Saturday morning without reservation, & while they were booked, we were able to enjoy their brunch menu at the bar. We had a great meal, we were checked on numerous times & had a nice conversation with both members of staff who helped us. The Bloody Mary is definetly a brunch staple, while no one should leave without trying the Croque Madame! We will be back the next time we are in Lexington!
Every plate was so tasty and refined with flavors and presentation. Hard to choose a favorite but the carrots, pork belly and shrimp definitely stood out. Lauren, our server was excellent with making recommendations. A definite try in Lexington.
We loved everything about this place! The restaurant has a super nice aesthetic and warming atmosphere. Food was amazing. I had the best avocado toast i’ve ever had, plus the eggs and bacon were delicious. The manager even stopped over to check on our experience. We will be back soon!
Epping’s exceeded expectations! The food was delicious! My friend and I ordered 3 small plates - roasted carrots, focaccia, and mushroom bruschetta - and they were all exquisite. We ordered the custard for desert and it was great! The atmosphere was spacious and luxurious, the service was fast, and the staff were very kind. Overall, I had a great time here and I definitely plan on coming back!
My mom and I stopped by for brunch. We didn't make a reservation but we're lucky enough to grab a seat at the bar. Food and service were great! The bloody mary did not disappoint. Definitely recommend 👍
Amazing atmosphere 👏 very neat space and well laid out. We tried the Lexington Restaurant Week 4 course meal. The crab bisque had a great rich flavor, the chicken pakora was very good with a nice dipping sauce to cut some of the spicy. The pork lion could have had more flavor but the risotto and broccolini it came with was fabulous 👌. The seared bronzini was the best of the night, fish was perfectly cooked and was plated over a lovely fregola pasta!!
Great place to treat yourself. Delicious food and drink. Nice atmosphere and they were very kind to my 2 year old son, they have the best coloring sheet. Can't wait to eat here again! 2025 update: we went for our 10th anniversary and had an absolutely wonderful meal. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent.
We got a good experience our server was such a nice person I forgot her name. Food is amazing!!!
We ordered a set of small plates. Each one was delicious. Strong selection of bourbon as well. Pleasant atmosphere. Friendly competent service. We will most definitely be back.
Easily the best restaurant in Lexington if you are looking for the best food and atmosphere! There are so many amazing options which is why it’s best to share if possible. The strip Tataki and lamb and beef kafta and meatballs were my top 4 but everything we ordered was phenomenal!! I literally can’t wait to go back to eat this food again. Highly highly recommend! Also Nigel was an amazing server!
What an amazing place! Hostess was so sweet and helpful. Our server was attentive and friendly. Food is super fresh and delicious! Awesome, unique atmosphere.
Phenomenal food and a stunning restaurant! The service was wonderful. Everything was delicious and flavorful, wow! Can't wait to go back again.
Amazing dinner. First, I love a good Old Fashioned. Eppings has the best Old Fashioneds I’ve ever had in my life. Period. Full stop. The food here is great. We love that they have tapas sized small plates so you can try a few different things. We’ve been here twice and have never been disappointed. Another great thing about Eppings is the daily happy hour with half price, beer, certain cocktails (including the Old Fashioned), and wine. I was surprised how many people were here at 5:00 on a weeknight but after trying a few of the things off thebar menu I totally get it.
Lovely dinner experience at Epping’s last night. Really eclectic menu with both a variety of small plate options and regular entrees. We had the crab bisque to start. Amazing!! Go there just for this soup. We ordered off the small plates section of the menu for adventure. The crab cakes were fantastic and the basil aioli superb. The mushroom bitterballen were also great - look like a falafel on the outside but creamy mushroomy goodness on the inside. Fries were good, but the sriracha sauce is hot so beware. The only disappointment was the gnocchi. Not bad, just didn’t love it. Also try the Eastside cocktail - really light a fruity and so good. Service was fantastic. Thanks for a wonderful dinner, Eppings!
A Sentimental Review for Avynne at Eppings on Eastside I recently had a deeply emotional experience at Eppings on Eastside in Lexington, Kentucky, thanks in large part to Avynne. My father faces a unique medical condition, and during our brunch together, I felt compelled to turn to him and say, “You’ve been a great father to me.” The weight of those words struck him, and he began to cry, which brought overwhelming emotion to the surface for me. As we sat at the bar, I tried to maintain my composure, but the tears began to flow softly, and soon they came with greater intensity. I couldn’t bear to leave my father alone in that moment, so I approached Avynne and asked if she would kindly watch over him. She not only provided excellent service as a bartender but also kept a discreet eye on him, ensuring his safety while I stepped away to collect myself in the restroom. It's rare to encounter someone so gentle and understanding of the delicate challenges many face as they age. Avynne truly made a difference in that moment, transforming my difficult experience into a comforting one. Her compassion made my heart smile amidst my tears. I sincerely hope Eppings recognizes the treasure they have in her. Please cherish her; she is truly a gem.
This is hands down. One of my favorite places to go for a drink in Lexington. The head bartender. Jill Day is not only an old friend of mine, but probably one of the most seasoned bourbon connoisseurs not just in the state but in the country. If you're looking for someone that knows the history and all the ins and outs of the bourbon industry, then you need to go to epping's on the Eastside and spend time with Jill. ❤️❤️❤️
OMG why have I not been here before? This has place is a treasure and absolutely delicious. I will be back to try multi times. If you have not eaten here run now and get the experience.
My husband and I both love Epping’s on Eastside. Recently we went to try their brunch for the first time. It was amazing, as usual. We especially enjoy their random use of locally foraged ingredients, like fiddleheads. Cocktails are always excellent and staff is friendly.
Wonderful atmosphere, spacious and open, great staff, and the food is amazing! A regular go too.
A must go for gluten free tapas like dinner! The whiskey sours and the old fashioned’s never disappoint either.
Fantastic brunch. Will be back on the regular. Best eggs I've ever had, Benedict polenta was 10/10, French toast could feed a battalion. Ian was a great server. Can't go wrong with this place
One of the best place in Lexington, The Food was amazing Lamb Kababs are myst try, Cocktails were amazing, The prices are decent its definitely worth the money , The service is super good. I will definitely visit again.
We live down the street and came here for the first time tonight we had the steak tataki, Brussels sprouts, scallops, and salmon everything was so good, the host was nice the food was great my cocktail was good and our server Courtney was so nice and awesome. We had a really great time and loved everything.
I was there at happy hour. It was an affordable outing with the featured food and drink prices. We ordered the small plates and our group of five all loved what we ordered. I am not easily pleased with restaurant food but, for once, I thought the food was excellent!
Outstanding happy hour, great prices on small plates from the bar with happy hour drinks. $5.00 old fashioned and they were delicious. Chris our server was terrific and very friendly.
We decided to venture out the night before the storm came through, as our last good meal before hunkering down. Since moving here this place has been on the list so we were thrilled to call and catch a table for two to wrap up our night. We had the pleasure of Sam serving us food and amazing customer service. He wasted no time getting our drinks and telling us all about the features. We had a few hiccups with the food but service was happy to fix it and did not make us feel like a bother. The crab bisque came out smooth and creamy with just the right amount of poblano pepper for that kick at the end. Crème brûlée was deliciously smooth and made my fiancé very happy! We can not wait to return to try some other delicious plates and give this place another round on the taste buds. I can’t say enough about Sam and the wonderful service we received. Another reason we will be back!! See you again soon!!
Adored the experience!!! Eppings is my favorite restaurant in Lexington. Hands downn!!! Wonderful staff, amazing ambiance. The food is spectacular!!! A five star experience every time I go. Also, the happy hour is budget friendly.
This place has a gorgeous atmosphere! The menu has something for everyone. I very much enjoyed my visit at the bar. Drinks were delicious. And getting a couple of their small plates was a perfect way to solve several cravings. Highly recommend.
This is a top restaurant in Kentucky. Staff is accommodating and hospitable(even with little kids!) But the food is why we come here. Everything we've tried has been unbeatable. I hope the mastermind behind their menu never quits.
It's a cute brunch location, the menu is small but really good. We recommend the French toast and the chicken & waffles, both were delicious! Bottomless mimosas were good with a great price. Service was good, getting food to the table didn't take long after ordering. However, waiter forgot to come back to refill water, mimosa carafe and never came back to ask my husband about his bar menu choice.
We went out for a group dinner and tried Epping’s for the first time! The small plates were fantastic—my favorite was definitely the lamb kabobs. Everything else was delicious too. The steak tataki was good, but it was a bit too heavy on the sauce, which overpowered the dish a little. For our large plate, we ordered the mushroom risotto. I usually love a good risotto, but this one caught me off guard. The grilled mushrooms had a strong vinegar flavor that overwhelmed the dish and made it hard to enjoy. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful, with lots of natural sunlight and a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. That said, everything else was phenomenal and the service was excellent. I’d still recommend giving it a try!
4/12/25 My husband and I came here for our date night We shared crab bisque, pork belly burnt ends, a house salad with bleu cheese, chicken satay, and French fries fried in beef tallow (yes, they were as good as they sound and so thankful for no seed oil options) The food was fantastic, I do wish the bleu cheese dressing was a bit more bleu cheesy but other than that everything was great. The ambiance here is so mini jungle-like with all the various plants. I love the large space and the service was quick. The bathroom design was unique too, had to share that it is their family bathroom and the design for smaller children is too cute. Would definitely recommend this location for anyone looking to true unique food options.
Epping’s on Eastside is a charming blend of urban chic and neighborhood warmth, where every detail whispers sophistication, yet the vibe remains laid-back and welcoming. The moment you step in, the stylish décor and the inviting atmosphere make you feel like you’ve found the perfect spot for a relaxed yet elevated dining experience, ideal for a casual evening with friends or a special date night. 🍲WHAT I TASTED: The tapas-style small plates really stood out—each dish was creative and fun, from the creamy Pasta Primavera alla Vodka to the must-try Crispy Brussels Sprouts. While the Butternut Squash Tamales needed a bit more seasoning, dessert—Yuzu Vanilla Custard—was a refreshing finish. 💡STANDOUT: The menu and the creativity of the chef is undeniable, with dishes that push the boundaries of traditional flavors and textures. ⚠️WHAT WAS MID: However, while the food was a feast for the palate, the plating could have used more finesse—just a little extra attention to detail would elevate the entire experience to match the vibrant flavors and the upscale feel of the space. In all, Epping’s on Eastside is a place where culinary creativity meets a welcoming vibe, offering both familiar comforts and exciting new twists. 8.3/10.
I have been here twice for Brunch and I have many thoughts. #1: They have FANTASTIC coffee. I will becoming back just for the coffee, it is bold and rememberable. #2: They take risks on their menu, it is very unique. I love that. I love trying something new and they allow me to do that. #3: The price is very reasonable. I am very excited to come back and try their dinner menu. This place is very good.
Three of us went for brunch and found the drinks to be superb! However, none of us were wowed by the food. The reviews were great but it didn't live up to the hype. Perhaps dinner would be better.
I visited on a Monday during lunch hour. We were asked if we had a reservation, we did not, but there were several seats open at the bar which was fine with us for two people. My friend enjoyed a well crafted cocktail and I ordered the tomato and garlic confit soup as an appetizer which sounded amazing and was an excellent choice. My entree was the mixed greens salad with chicken added which sounded very healthy as described on the menu and was very tasty. My friend ordered the house made pastrami Reuben sandwich which I had to take a bite of because wow it looked glorious! And it was! It was quite a large sandwich so my friend thought he would take half of it home but he couldn’t stop eating it since it was so delicious! Haha! Service was quick and excellent and the interior is lovely, modern, clean and light. We tried items from the bakery after our lunch but left a little disappointed with the cookies and the bread we brought home to eat later. I’ll have to try again another time in fair judgement so I’ll update when I visit again.
It should be advertised as a tapas and small plate restaurant. These type of restaurants confuse me because the amount of food you get for the price paid sometimes don’t match. I will say though food was delicious and even the Magic Carpet Ride cocktail was wonderful. Our server was Charles and he was top notch.
Excellent atmosphere design and nice menu. Went there with a big group overall we were satisfied. My wife and I experienced flaws in the execution. They failed to get an over easy egg on 2 tries. I got the chicken and grits special. My chicken breading was dark brown and greasy and under cooked. I did not eat and was not asked or given an attempt to correct. Another in our party had the same experience with undercooked chicken. Buscuits were pretty but dry and crusty. Server came to table many times but I failed to look my direction. The place was loud with conversation and background music. The eggs Benedict looked good and were recommended by our hosts.
Great cheesecake. Steak was okay, not fantastic. Passion fruit Margarita also just okay, not tarty enough, didn't really taste the passion fruit. The rim was flavourless, much better off just getting a salt rim. Korean cucumbers were good, maybe a little too light, but great flavoring of the sauce.
I was invited to dinner here on Wednesday night while visiting from Miami. The food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was outstanding—truly a credit to the kitchen. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. Throughout the evening, neither our waiter nor the manager checked in on our table. The friends who invited me never received refills on their drinks or were even asked if they wanted more. One guest couldn’t eat her salad because she requested additional dressing, which was never brought—by the time the waiter finally returned, we had all finished our meals and she had to take the salad to go. I was never asked if I wanted another cocktail, and no one offered another glass of wine to our table. What made this especially disappointing was that the restaurant was not busy at the time, so there was no apparent reason for the lack of attention. On our way out, we mentioned our concerns to the hostess, but no one apologized or made any effort to address the experience. For such a beautiful restaurant with exceptional food, the poor service really took away from the evening.
Fries were great but after that food was not very good. Pork belly while had good flavor was extremely tough and chewy. Our server, Courtney C was phenomenal and did a great job. The steak bruschetta was ok but didn't settle well. Nice touch for my wife's birthday.
This restaurant is awful. I won’t be going back. The food was cold and distasteful, and it took them forty minutes to get it. The service was poor, and the prices are way too high for the quality of the food and decor. You’re really paying for the location and the ambiance.
Just got back from a most disappointing dining experience! With 3 friends we thought it would be a good opportunity to try a new restaurant. But this was the last time I will eat there. The food was acceptable but our waitress Alyssa was anything but a good hospitality representative with a terrible attitude! For the same price we could have had a wonderful dinner and excellent and friendly service right around the corner.
