First time in and first table seated for their new years offering. Waiter had a few too many punch lines for my taste but the food was definitely top tier. I asked for a box not to be treated like an idiot. Can I get a box and he said something along the lines of I dont know can you? 250 plus we spent on dinner I expected better.
Came on Saturday and it was the brunch menu. I wanted the smash burger and thankfully it’s on the menu for brunch. But I love lunch during the week with the ham and bean soup. Tomato is always good though. Great atmosphere.
Upon viewing the menu, it was interesting to see that a starter at a place to eat could be pork rinds. But these were pretty tasty! Paired with that honey, it was quite a nice combo. I also had the chicken sandwich, it was really good and juicy, enjoyable down to the last bite :) Several weeks prior, I'd tried their Eggs Benedict (not shown here) and wow... quite a cornucopia of flavor, I will say! Some of the best hollandaise sauce I'd ever tasted! The service was good too, i just lost the receipt and can't remember the name :(. But I'd say, check this place out!
Honeywood is hands down my favorite among Chef Ouita Michel’s incredible lineup of local restaurants. It’s not uncommon for me to dine there two days in a row—yes, it’s that good! The menu is both extensive and creative, offering something for everyone, and one thing’s for sure: you’ll never leave hungry. The portions are generous and always satisfying. When the weather cooperates, their patio is one of the best in Lexington. It’s partially enclosed, offering a bit of privacy, and the artificial turf gives it a cozy, relaxed vibe—perfect if you’re bringing your dog along. It was one of my late pup’s favorite spots to lounge while I enjoyed a great meal.
This is a really great spot for elevated southern food! We went for a late lunch, so the restaurant was running pretty slow, but the food was worth the wait! Everything I tried was delicious, particularly the sweet potato beignets! I also really enjoyed the rabbit and dumplings, which was the special of the day.
The food was amazing. The potato dish was flavorful and had a nice crispy texture outside and soft inside. The lamb burger was nice but slightly too rare for my taste. The staff corrected this quickly. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. Would recommend.
We planned and made reservations for this restaurant weeks in advance and we were not disappointed! The prime rib was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the mashed potatoes were creamy and full of flavor. I had custard pie for dessert and it was a perfect ending. Definitely a wonderful restaurant. The service was excellent and the interior was clean and comfortable!
Everything was great! The sweet potato beignets were the bomb!! The Korean fried chicken the Mrs had was delicious, so tender and spicy!! The Mrs also enjoyed the brussel sprouts. While I had a burger and fries that was just perfect!! The Mrs also tried a gimlet which she enjoy!! So next time you're at the Summit and wondering where to eat this is the spot!!
My favorite item was probably the deviled eggs, but I also really loved the tomato sandwich! Delicious! I was somewhat disappointed with the snack platter; it wasn't worth it for me. Glad I visited!
Great affordable food. We had the Cobb salad, shrimp & grits & greens with a side of catfish, mac & cheese & braised beef with grits. DVC Finds
If I had been at home... I would have licked the plate. That's how good the deviled eggs were. The eggs benedict and catfish were delicious too. Definitely a great spot to enjoy a meal and some shopping.
My wife I came into the restaurant for lunch, it was very clean and comfortable the staff were nice, and the food was very tasty and generous servings. I had the smashburger and my wife had the salad with a espresso martini. We loved the restaurant and wouldn't mine coming back again.
What a wonderful evening. We were captivated by every creation we tried. Food was spectacular. The pairings of food was truly innovative. I am so glad we decided to give this place a try. Everything was superb. Make sure to try the oysters, they were by far our favorite dish. We ordered more to go.
Food and service were great. Restaurant is right in the center of Fritz Farm. Inside has an upscale eccentric vibe, and there is an outdoor patio. Complimentary hummus was a nice switch up from bread! Pictured is the beet salad with blackened salmon and hummus.
Part of the Holly Hill Family of eating establishments. Most superbly an excellent mix of brunch items with many protein choices. A very nice selection of Vegan/Vegetarian dishes, seemingly aimed at catering to all eating styles. The staff is willing to answer questions on food prep and ingredients and friendly supreme. Bar has an excellent selection of Bourbons and their Draft beers are a unique local mix! Had me a Dunkel with my Honeywood Smash Burger, a most tasty pairing. The wife had the Frittata, served up in its own freshly prepped cast iron skillet. The flavor profile on both dishes was legit! Most assuredly will return to try a dinner menu, they also had a decent selection of wine and cocktails to pair with whatever your choice of eating fare. A winning local eatery!
I am not kidding when I say this place is amazing. Our Waiter was Johnny on the spot! We never had to wait for refills, in fact we never need to ask for on either. The deviled eggs were out of this world good. I ordered the filet and it melted in my mouth. The pecan pie was also phenomenal. I would highly recommend to anyone I knew
These guys are in a league of their own! Their service is great, the food is amazing, and the staff is very attentive. Photo is a picture of their hardwood floor being refinished. If you need a place to take that special loved one this is it.
My second time here and it’s solidified as a must-go-to restaurant whenever I’m in Lexington. The menu is a celebration of Kentucky farm-fresh ingredients and they appear to source all things locally. The pork chop is out-of-this-world good with local grits and greens. We ordered two specials: the blended burger and an heirloom beet dish. The beet dish was enough food for five people to split (unless you REALLY love beets). My first visit here I got another appetizer that would be suitable for 3-5 people to share, so for the price point you’re getting a lot of really exquisite food. The sweet potato beignets were also excellent, with a welcome bit of subdued flavors. They were savory and mild combined with everything else on the plate, but not in a way that was flavorless or boring. All in all, a beautiful restaurant with beautiful food.
very cute little restraunt near lexington. filling food + our server (carly) was so lovely and attentive. overall great experience.
Lunch feb 2024. A perfect little birthday date with the husband. Honeywood- Sumit at FritzFarm was AMAZING! One of the BEST old fashions I’ve ever had. Sweet potato beignets to start are a MUST, short rib melt and fries for entree, husband had catfish there were both great, and peanut butter pie🤤😍 to finish our date.
This place looks and tastes very upscale, but the warm hospitality and down to earth staff make it feel casual and friendly. We had the sweet potato beignets, blackened catfish and the specialty cocktail 'It's Alright to be Itty Beety'. VERY delicious! Definitely worth the stop!
We made a detour on a long drive to stay in Lexington just to have dinner at Honeywood, and we were very glad we did. My favorite part of the meal were the Sweet Potato Beignets with pepper jelly and whipped ricotta, such a heavenly dish. We also had the Honeywood Caesar, Roasted Cornish Hen, and the Smoked Pork Chop. Everything was incredible, including the service. Definitely worth the detour to Lexington.
Love the patio at this restaurant! Wonderful ambience and good food, a little oversalted, but very fresh. The highlight was the desserts, which all are from Midway Bakery, the owner's affiliate. The strawberry crumble was otherworldly. They were also so warm and welcoming to our pup, who even got some carrot sticks!
Excellent all around. Food was top quality. Bourbon options were also great. Well decorated place. Spent the whole night eating and drinking. Ricotta, friend green tomatoes, pork chop, gnocchi, beet salad.
I’m a big foodie, and no lie, this place is one of the best I’ve had. We’ve only been here once so far, but the pulled pork was great, the burger was AMAZING. As were the Brussel sprouts and vinegar slaw. The Korean chicken appetizer had the perfect amount of heat and flavor. Very very good and will be back 110%.
The Old Guys Pub Crawl crawled in here and had some great beers and good fellowship. Old Toby complained a lot but it was about his feet so that's not an issue for anyone else. Everyone had a good time and old Toby began to giggle after his first beer. We love this place. We will be back.
I love Honeywood! The staff always has really great recommendations. I suggest that if you ask, you should definitely take their word for it. If they offer (even when they’re upselling) you should totally take it too. Food is great and I love having a few drinking here before shopping. I love coming here and will continue to come. Their brunch is fantastic and their bloody Mary’s are great too!!
Always good, always reliable. My first time here for brunch (we've been here for dinner several times) and it did not disappoint - the Deviled eggs are luxurious.
The salmon was by far the best meal I’ve ever had in my 3 years coming to Lexington! Everything is from local farms. Many options and great deserts.
Came by one day for lunch with my girlfriend. Food was amazing! She ended up getting their Smash Burger, while I ordered their Shrimp and Grits. She really enjoyed the burger, but their Shrimp and Grits were some of the best I've had in my life, especially in Central Kentucky. We also ordered their Sweet Potato Beignets and Fried Oysters which were both fantastic as well. Service and value were also great. One think to keep in mind if you want to visit is that it's probably best to go ahead and out in a reservation if you know you want to visit.
Very good restaurant with consistently friendly service. Local menu that changes seasonally. Reasonable prices and sane portion sizes. Excellent cocktails and good Bourbon selection. Space is a bit loud, Summit logistics (parking, traffic) aren't always great.
My wife and I had been here before last time we visited Lexington. This time we wanted to treat our local friends to a nice dinner, and we had a fantastic dining experience! The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy yet elegant, making it a great spot for a casual outing or a special occasion. Honeywood's food and drink menu is diverse, the service is always good and the vibe is great. We tried many dishes, including the following: Sweet potato beignets. Shrimp & grits. Crab rice. Huntsman cassoulet. Salmon. Mac & cheese and fries. Beetloaf. Cocktails. Everything was delicious and good. The flavors were vibrant, and the presentation was on point. Our server was good but seemed a bit rushed. The restaurant is located in a great shopping plaza with plenty to do within walking distance. There is plenty of free parking around. We were happy, satisfied, and eager to return! Overall, 100% recommended.
My friend and I had an incredible dining experience at Honeywood Restaurant! The menu was diverse, and everything we ordered exceeded our expectations. The burger was absolutely delicious—juicy, perfectly cooked, and topped with fresh, flavorful ingredients. We also tried one of their seafood dishes, which was just as amazing. The flavors were vibrant, and the presentation was stunning. The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy yet elegant, making it a great spot for a casual outing or a special occasion. We left feeling happy, satisfied, and eager to return!
My wife and i had dinner there and it was very good. We tried the sweet potatoe beignets since they seemed like an interesting dish. They were not fluffy like a typical beignet but creamy. Paired with the pepper jelly they were really good. The shrimp and grits could use some more flavoring but they were OK. I had the lamb burger and it was cooked great. Juicy and not dry. If you like lamb, you will enjoy this. The interior of the restaurant was nice and service was excellent.
Not a lot of veggie options but what they have are good. Beetloaf is pretty good and so is Tofu fry. Beignets and salads were good too but they can definitely improve on the service!
We were so excited to come back. Boys were disappointed prime rib wasn't a selection on brunch menu! The appetizer 4o'clock snack platter was the best thing today! Big selection and all delicious. My son ordered a shrimp cocktail and it was sad. Overcooked and dried out, he didn't even finish it. I ordered a Cobb salad with salmon. Was good but salmon was really salty. Son ordered smash burger and it was good. He said fries were overcooked. Mother in law had the Bourbon barrel breakfast and said it was delicious. Husband got the grits and grillades. Wasn't what he was expecting with the Cajun gravy. Was good but heavy! They seemed to have limited servers as well. I know that's an issue everywhere. Just somewhat disappointing.
We went for our lab Christmas gathering and based on the reviews, I was not expecting that much. But it turned out a pleasant option. The staffs were very friendly, the portion size was Ok and the restaurant’s interior design was nice as well. We shared a couple of starters and they were fine if not the best. Overall, for me it is a 4 out of 5.
First off, the service was outstanding. Our server Mo was kind, courteous and informative. The food was delicious, however don't go hungry. Really small portion sizes. And DEFINITELY order an appetizer because it took 35 minutes for our food to arrive. First time trying quail. It was amazing, but a tiny bird. Especially for $18! You do have the option of ordering two for like an extra $10.
This is a great place to come and unwind with great food and drinks. Alex, the bartender, I think his name was, provided us with a phenomenal experience. Made some wonderful Cocktails even off the menu. Really made sure he went out of his way to give a overall dining experience. Food menu is short and sweet, hopefully they add more. The atmosphere is relaxing and modern, while the food was hot and fresh with great flavors. Definitely recommend coming here and supporting the idea of farm to table food.
Nice atmosphere. Kind staff. The food itself was pretty good. I had a fish sandwich which was perfectly prepared but didn’t wow me with flavor. With that said you wouldn’t make a mistake dinning here but I will probably continue to try other restaurants before returning.
Came here for dinner on a weeknight. We made a reservation but we didn’t need it, the place was empty. Food took an hour to be served which made everyone very hungry. The restaurant was also very cold, so everyone was freezing while waiting hungry. When the food finally arrived, it was mixed reviews at the table. 2 of the 5 people did not enjoy the food at all. One questioned if there was still scales on the salmon while the chicken dish had sauce that was basically a soup which was off-putting. Everyone else enjoyed their food though. On a positive note they served crank and boom ice cream for dessert which was a nice way to end every meal.
My ratings are 3.5. Nice restaurant in a vibrant area we recently visited to celebrate my wife's birthday. We ordered Sweet Potato Bignets, Honeywood Burger, Wallace Station Chicken Salad Sandwich and couple of cocktails. Honeywood Burger was good and tasty. It comes with fried by default by we replaced it with Warm Lima Bean salad which was okay, good to try. Wallace station chicken salad was as usual good in taste. We replaced fried with Spicy sprouts which was okay as well. Cocktails were okay as well, nothing wrong and were refreshing. Ambience in the restaurant is good and refreshing. Staff keeping it clean all the time. FYI they don't offer anything special for birthdays or anniversary etc. Also they don't have hardcopy menu. You just need to scan barcode.
We are long time customers who took out of town guests last night and were very disappointed in food quality and preparation. We have never had a sub par experience until last evening. Food was over cooked and not up to their usual standard. So disappointed and embarrassed for our guests! What happened?
Very low end experience. The steak was the worse steak my wife has ever had. Service was slow and the food was over priced for the quality. Restaurant was clean and nicely decorated.
Server had inadequate knowledge of the menu, wine, and basic table follow up. Steak was ordered medium and came out charred burned. Told the server and no manager came over. Nice restaurant and atmosphere but a bunch of work is needed for the ask per plate.
Yesterday I dined at Honeywood and ordered the Lamb Stew, Shrimp & Grits, and Chicken Wings as an appetizer. While the ambience of the restaurant was absolutely beautiful and welcoming, I was unfortunately disappointed by the food itself. The flavors were lacking and did not meet expectations, especially given the presentation and atmosphere. I’m the type of person who rarely leaves food unfinished, I don’t believe in wasting food but in this case, the taste of the lamb and the awkward taste of the grits were not enjoyable — I ended up leaving my plates more than half full. After leaving Honeywood, we decided to try another local spot, 33 Staves, located inside The Origin Hotel — and what a difference! The food there was outstanding. We ordered the Kentuckyina Chicken Wings, French Fries with a perfect sweet and salty balance, and the Chicken Alfredo — easily the best I’ve ever had. The quality, flavor, and overall dining experience at 33 Staves were on another level. I’d rate Honeywood 2 stars for its lovely ambience but underwhelming food, and give 33 Staves a full 5 stars for their exceptional taste and quality. Highly recommend 33 Staves if you’re looking for a truly satisfying meal in Lexington.
This used to be a favorite spot but I think they must have changed chefs or recipes. The sweet potato beignets and beet loaf used to be so good but they were both fixed differently than in the past. It was my birthday and my husband did indicate this when making the reservation, but our server never mentioned it. She was inattentive and lacked any hospitality at all. When approaching our table, we weren't even greeted, just asked if we knew what we wanted. For $100, I expect more than this. I won't go back.
I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but my experience here was disappointing from start to finish. The service was slow and inattentive, with long waits just to get water and place an order. When the food finally arrived, it didn’t live up to expectations—everything tasted bland, overcooked, and not worth the price. The overall atmosphere also felt uncomfortable, not because of the staff or guests, but because the whole place lacked warmth or professionalism. I left feeling let down and wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food or a pleasant dining experience.
This restaurant is Not Gluten Free friendly. My mother has severe celiac and ate something that she was specifically told was GF. She ended up leaving contaminated on her birthday. NOT happy with the food safety of this restaurant. To have a severe disease which shortens your lifespan not be a concern for a restaurant shows poor service. I’m so completely disappointed with this restaurant to say the absolutely least.
The place is poorly run on my visit today. Its a Sunday afternoon at 1:15 when arrived. Seems to be a disconnect with the kitchen and the servers. Takes forever for food to come out. Ordered just salads. From order to time of receiving food was more than 30 mins. The server apologized for the wait. The restaurant was not full. Not sure why. If the manager is onsite they should be like an air traffic control. Have a more hands on approach and manage the flow of everything. I am writing this post as we are sitting here will not come.back. walked out
