We went to the bookstore in this shopping center and we're looking for somewhere good to eat. This place didn't disappoint. Chicken was so yummy, the burger was huge and delicious, salmon was absolutely amazing and stunning. All of the sides were so good! The beer battered fish was our least favorite. It didn't have too much flavor. The pumpkin creme brulee was so good and amazing texture and flavor! We loved the outdoor seating and being able to feed the ducks and swans. Stay away from the bread oil though...it had a very bitter taste and much to be desired. The bread is good though. We will be back when in Lexington.

Ive been here a few times but the most recent visit was to celebrate my dad's birthday. We had a fabulous time. Our party was 9 people from ages 4 to 93. We opened presents and sang happy birthday in the middle of the bustling restaurant. I enjoyed the spiral truffle fries, from what i could try of them without my husband and brothers gobbling them. My scallops (pictured below) were some of the best Ive ever had and beautiful too. When the weather is nice, this is the best place for a sunset dinner and drink at the bar. It is a mini vacation in the middle of my hometown.

Top notch! Food was excellent (I had the Diver Scallops, dare I say one of the best dishes in Lexington?) I sat at the outdoor bar, served by two fabulous male bartenders, & enjoyed every minute! Highly recommend! (Side note, I’ve been before, & every time the food is incredibly delicious!) The only bad thing I can say, and it wasn’t even bad, was there was no music. No radio or anything. Kind of enjoyed it though, the silence :)

Ordered: Cabo street tacos, steak and shrimp, steak and fries, and house salads. Complimentary bread was served. All food was fresh, presented well, and served at the correct temperature. The fries were cooked to a light crisp. The blueberry lemon drop was cold and mixed properly. The server was friendly and attentive. The location has an outdoor eating area and tiki bar.

It was prom night when we went, but I had a reservation. We sat at the bar and although they were very busy we still had a good experience. Delicious food, it was a perfect birthday dinner spot!

Sitting outside on the water watching the ducks was perfect for our dinning experience. The weather was perfect, food was delicious and the atmosphere is the best.

Dinner at Palmers was a great experience. We were lucky enough to get seated right away, and we got a table outside. However, we wanted a different table so we requested a change, and were told that we would be switching servers as well, so I felt like it was going to be a bit of trouble and desisted. To my surprise, Jenny, our -above and beyond- server, came back 10 mins later and said we could seat at the table we wanted and that she’ll keep being our server. 20/10 to this girl! -Now, every staff member we dealt with while there was friendly and kind-. About their food, we had the tuna steak and the imperial flounder. Both dishes were exquisite and perfect. I’m returning for another great meal while relaxing on a lakeside table!

I'm from Texas. We did a reservation to ensure seating, glad we did as the place was packed. The place was a little challenging to find, but once found, the adult food was OUTSTANDING! The child's fish sticks were ok. Tried the shrimp and grits, crab cakes, steak and fries and mini burgers. The fries deserve a second comment, they were GREAT!

The food was great and the service was good. The shrimp and grits are OK, the gouda in the grits tasted strange on its own but when combined with the sauce and shrimp it was good. The chicken and mushrooms dish was very good. My son is a very picky eater but he loved the fettuccine Alfredo. Overall nice experience.

Certainly a contender for Lexington's best patio for dining and drinking. The view of the small pond and fountain is better than I make it sound. Its actually quite scenic. This Saturday the place was dead so we were able to sit outside without any wait and without reservations. The bar on the patio was not open. We had appetizers and drinks only. My companion absolutely loved and raved about the lobster dip. Truffled fries were delicious and uniquely presented. A lovely night by the pond.

Hey guys!! Today I want to talk about this Most Outstanding restaurant here in Lexington, KY! "Palmer's Fresh Grill" in the Lexington Green shopping center(shopping center on Nicholasville Rd, with the green roofs, before the Fayette Mall)! Well, I'm going to say A-MAZING everything!! Great service(Thank You Gillian for your service!!), Great seating inside but next to a window( because outside was full), the atmosphere was very "Afternoon Brunch" very comfortable and inviting. Listen, Just Go Please!!! So one thing I liked also was you have to go through the bookstore Joseph-Beth Bookstore(I'm Happily a book freak!) and take the escalator downstairs. They also have nice outside seating around a bit of water! You can make Reservations on their website! So here we go! A coworker and I meet there Saturday June 19, 2021 for lunch. Our server was Gillian, who was pleasant, patient and knowledgeable. The menu had nice options for lunch and dessert. The price point for brunch and lunch is very reasonable(maybe $10-$20). My friend and I shared the TRUFFLED SIDEWINDER FRIES(1st picture, sorry we started eating before I remembered to take the picture) she had the SHRIMP & GRITS(2nd picture) and I had the PALMERS CHICKEN & WAFFLES (3rd pic) The 4th pic is both meals and appetizer We decided No dessert but they have a few things that sounds yummy! OVERALL, It Was A Great Eating and Social Experience!! I'll be going back, to try the Shrimp and Grits, before I leave on the 30th! Sooo, when did you say you're going!? I might just see you there😁

The shrimp and grits was tasty. Presentation is a 10 out of 10. I would like my tacos to have been warmer. It was really large portions which is a plus. The bread and oil was phenomenal. The service approach was interesting it was like being served by an team of people which was nice. Overall it’s a great experience.

Some of the best seafood on the East coast! Ambiance is very warm and welcoming, plenty of seating inside and out, friendly staff, and plenty of parking.

We were in from out of town and decided to do a pick-up order so we could spend time with family, and it was fantastic. I absolutely loved the shrimp n grits and the fried green tomatoes.

I have always loved Palmer's. It is a nice restaurant with delicious food. I always lean heavy on the seafood here as it is delicious. Check the specials each time because some of my favorite meals have been specialis. I usually have a dish I always order at restaurants, but Palmer's I like trying something new because it all sounds so good. The corn and clam chowder and the seafood queso are consistent must-haves for me. The staff has always been "above and beyond". Their kid's menu is great as well, and my son loves the fish strips. The location is lovely as well, stop by Joseph Beth or hang out around the pond afterwards.

Great food and great vibes at palmers Fresh Grill! Had a really nice experience at Palmers Fresh Grill. The food was delicious, fresh, and well-prepared, and the overall atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or a relaxed meal, this place really delivers on both taste and comfort. Would definitely come back again!

We had an amazing dinner at Palmers for my husband’s birthday! Food was delicious at every step - appetizer to entree to dessert. We would come back in an instant!

Palmer’s was amazing! Everything we ate was delicious, especially the Seafood Queso, Catfish, and Key Lime Pie. I can’t wait to go back and try more menu items—there was so much I wish I could have ordered! The lake in front of the restaurant was beautiful, too.

Perhaps the best place to get breakfast, lunch and dinner in Lexington! While staying locally we ate here three times given it’s phenomenal location, the exceptional views of the bar located on the pond and of course the incredible food. The food, no matter the meal, is always fresh, presented exceptionally well and always tasted great. We were very impressed with the clean restaurant, restrooms and dining area. This is a must stop if you are in Lexington!

The overall experience was great. The service was phenomenal and our server was very polite. Portion sizes weren’t bad, the crab cake are a little pricey for just 2 of them but they are super tasty!

J

Bryce my server was great and the salmon was excellent. Great outdoor seating along the lake. Parking is kind of odd - you go around pavilion to the parking lot between the Embassy Suites and down those set of stairs to enter.

L
Lauren Connors

I absolutely love this spot. Sitting on the deck next to the lake is one of my favorite activities once the weather warms up. The lake has a fountain, birds a plenty, fish and turtles. The food is a bit more pricey however the experience, taste and service is worth it. This place is truly a gem.

Was a birthday dinner and man was it delicious. She had the Ahi steaks in an asian sauce with Brussels sprouts and wasabi mashed potatoes. All superb. I had the diablo seafood pasta. Crazy good. We started with bacon wrapped scallops in an asian sauce. Just fantastic. We each has a wine.

This place is excellent! All staff was friendly and well mannered. All 4 courses were expertly prepared and served fresh! Sitting by the water on a cool (for July) evening was a real plus! Delicious food, friendly staff and beautiful setting, what else could you ask for!

Palmer’s and manager Laurie were tremendously helpful in helping us coordinate our wedding reception! Everyone was so helpful and the food as always was amazing. We did a brunch theme and everything was perfect. Palmer’s knows how to do brunch. 👌🏻 Go to Palmer’s for brunch, lunch, dinner, or your event needs. They will be so glad to help you. *Darcy is also a super server. Hopefully you’ll have her if you go.

I loved my visit to Palmers! I attended a friends birthday dinner here and the meal was amazing! The server was wonderful and rest of the staff very friendly. I loved the food, very flavorful and cooked to perfection! The house wine wasn’t bad and I even had a second glass. I love Palmers and will definitely be back!

Love Palmers. This review is overdue. It was one of the first places I tried when moving to Lexington, and I continue to enjoy dinning there. The value for quality is spot on. I love seafood, and there's lots of good options for seafood at palmers. In summer, the patio seating is nice - have have a pond where you can watch the ducks/swans swim around. I like the Tuna dish as my main favorite - the Wasabi mashed potatoes are unique. They can get busy on weekends, so reservations are a good idea.

I’ve been going here for years but the quality of the dishes I’ve been ordering have been gradually declining. Servers are still very friendly and drinks are on point, most of the main dishes and appetizers taste alright. The tuna, mahi, and anything with scallops is good, everything else is just very hit or miss. 05/14/2023 Gave palmers another chance and was not disappointed. Best Caesar salad in town, the food we ordered was amazing and on point. Very very happy- ordered the calamari, truffled sidewinder fries, and Caesar salad

It had been years since our last visit, which was not a great experience. Tonight, however, was outstanding. From the warm ciabatta to the shrimp lettuce wraps to the the outstanding entrees and decadent coconut cream pie- it was tops. Thanks to Austin for taking care of us! It won’t be years till we return.

We sat at the bar for Saturday brunch, and although Leelee was quite busy, she was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food was satisfying. We’ll be back!

My husband and I enjoyed the cozy outdoor's brunch at the ending of our anniversary (August 17th) week vacation at this lovely restaurant. The wait staff and staff made us feel valued. Bravo! Brava! To the chef everything was absolutely delicious❣️ Look forward to returning on our next journey to Lexington just to stop here. Thank you!

A hidden gem. We just happened to drive up on this restaurant. My husband got the chicken fettuccine , I got the fiery shrimp. . We both got drinks. My dish was delicious, my husband said his dish was good and the bartender makes a killer old fashioned cocktail . Sara, our waitress is very friendly and on top of things . Next time we are in Lexington we will definitely come back

We stumbled upon Palmer’s Fresh Grill by chance during a quick Google search—and we’re so glad we did! From start to finish, it was a 5-star experience. The complimentary bread and dip were a pleasant surprise to kick things off. I had the French Quarter Fettuccine, which was absolutely delicious—rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The Palmer Burger was juicy and packed with flavor, one of the best we’ve had in a while. Service was spot on: attentive without being overwhelming. We never had to look for our server—she was always there when we needed something. Honestly, we were a little unsure going in based on the 4.4-star rating, but everything about our visit exceeded expectations. We’ll definitely be back! Can’t wait to try out the gorgeous outdoor dining dock & bar area on a better weather day.

Wow, what a fabulous meal and service...waiter, Andrew, was kind, helpful and patient. Food was excelle t, crispy fish and slaw, shrimp and grits chased with two perfect bloody Marys! The closer was the bourbon bread a d i e cream desert and perfect cup of joe...the Manager stopped by a few times to check in on us too. In spite of the Valentines Day rush, they found us a drop-in no-reservation spot on the high boy chairs in the bar...everything was perfect except for the Cats bb loss to the Gators...As Arnold kinda says...."We'll be back!"

Got food delivered for the first time, got two portions of Wood Grilled Salmon salad and 2 portions of Grilled Shrimp. The salad was very yum, grilled shrimp was a tad bit disappointing due to the small size of the shrimp. Otherwise, quite surprised by the taste and would definitely get food again from here!

We came here with a group of 7. The food was sort of hit or miss. The fish sliders had good flavor but the fish on it was a tiny little nugget. Compared to the bread it was almost comical. The breading on the fish was good though. The breakfast tacos were ok. There was barely any hollandaise and that was the draw of the item for me since it was a unique combo. I also think it would have been better to have tots inside instead of flavorless potatoes. Also not many toppings, so I added cheese on them. The standout food item for many of us was the wedge salad. The balsamic on it and the crispy onions were delicious and it was a great portion size. The Alfredo was good, the sauce was flavorful. The chowder wasn’t good, the corn was weird in it and chewy thick texture was off putting. The vibe outside is great. Inside is cute but the booths are super uncomfortable sadly. The service was overall good like a nice waiter but the food took forever and they weren’t that busy.

This was maybe my fifth trip to Palmers, having been for brunch once, eating at the bar by the water once, on the patio once, and inside at least once. None of the above had been particularly memorable, but that changed with this trip! As always, the decor was beautiful and our server Claudia was phenomenal; the atmosphere left much to be desired by way of noise control (maybe something could be done about the acoustics), but then again, I’m consistently amazed by some people’s lack of self awareness. My husband and I both loved our starters - roasted red pepper and smoked Gouda bisque for him, corn and clam chowder for me - but he said mine was better. For dinner he enjoyed the shrimp and grits, and I tried to enjoy the Diablo pasta, but I feel like the level of heat interfered with the flavor, it was just unbalanced. Both portions were huge and we had to get boxes. I also got the bourbon and salted caramel bread pudding to go, which may have been a mistake, as I’m sure it would have been delicious fresh, but it was still pretty darn good after the fact. Overall: The bisques and chowders are enough to keep me coming back, I’ll just explore more another (mild) entree next time.

The outdoor patio has a very relaxing atmosphere and beautiful view. The pond and water features are a nice and rare benefit to find in Lexington. The food presentation is great, the flavor is good and service is decent. Update 9-14-2025 Still a great place to eat with a great view. Added new photos of the location, pond, water, and wildlife.

Pleasant venue with outdoor and sheltered outdoor seating. View of the lake and swans and ducks. Wide selection of Bourbons and mixed drinks. We had dinner there and all enjoyed our entrees. It is conveniently located to the comedy club and upstairs shopping. Also walking distance from the hotel.

Been awhile , since I was here . The Palmer's burger was good , except I should have asked for well done . Cocktails were really good and our service was incredible !

T

The food portions were generous but everything either had too much salt or too much pepper. I had the flounder imperial. Thankfully the rice and sauce helped to dilute the over-seasoned fish and spinach. My bf had the ahi tuna which came with Wasabi mashed potatoes that had way too much wasabi. Nice restaurant, too crowded for my liking, but was good to experience. Might be nice to sit outside by the water when weather permits.

Fat Man Reviews

On a chilly Saturday, Fat Man Reviews ventured to Palmers Fresh Grill in Lexington, KY. Palmers serve New American cuisine and cocktails, while offering a waterfront patio. I started with the Old Fashioned Breakfast. This is made with Knob Creek Smoked Maple Bourbon, Regan’s Orange Bitters, orange peel and candied bacon. The maple is present throughout, the bacon was crispy and the grease adds to the flavor. The ice was embellished with a P for flair. My fiancé tried the Sangria, this was made with White Peach and Red Strawberry wine. The drink had a great fruity smell but was overall watery. I decided to try the Black & Bleu burger with truffle fries. This is made with blackened spices, bleu cheese, caramelized onions, brioche bun, lettuce and tomato. I ordered the burger medium, but it was closer to well, but it was still juicy and seasoned well. The bun and tomato were fresh, but the onions were more sautéed than caramelized. The blue cheese was salty and helped to cut through the blackened burger. The fries were out of a bag and cooked well, but they were not the truffle fries, instead they were the bistro fries. The house smoked ketchup was pretty good but a little sweet. I also tried the Palmers Corn & Clam Chowder. This is made with clams, corn and red peppers. The broth was light and buttery, the vegetables were cooked well with a slight crunch for texture. The clams were a little over done and slightly chewy. The flavor was nice in this soup. My fiancé tried the Cod Sliders and bistro fries. This is made with fried cod, house made tarter sauce on a bun. The sandwiches were fried well, and the buns were soft and fresh. The tartar sauce was tangy and just the right touch. Palmers have several dishes including a lot of fresh seafood, and they offer brunch, lunch and dinner. The waterfront view offers a great patio space and there are bands that perform in the summer. They have a full bar and the staff was very pleasant. The Fat Man says that Palmers Fresh Grill is Fat Man Approved with 1 chin.

Today was our first time and we sat outside. The weather was pretty good and pleasant. The service was ok because they didn't have enough servers so it would take some time for the waitress to come by. I tried the burger which was good but the temperature was not. My son had shrimp pad Thai and it has great shrimp but lacked authentic pad Thai sauce flavor and texture. We also had fried cod and ahi tuna dinners. Overall flavors were good but service was lacking, timeliness and food temperature too. I will give it one more try and will be sure to order pasta dishes.

We (party of 12) arrived at approximately 12:30 on Sunday. The restaurant was practically empty. The waitress provided menus, took our order for drinks and promptly returned to take our orders. And then we waited for over an hour for our food. We watched as multiple tables arrived after us, ate and left. Several people at our table almost got up and left. At nearly the hour the waitress came to the table to tell us that our food would be ready in about 10 minutes. Since all the food arrived hot and fresh I can only guess that it took about 15 minutes to prepare. By the time we left the restaurant was again almost empty. I don't know if the waitress didn't put in our order on time or if the kitchen just decided that they would ignore our order. Since the manager was willing to seat us and said nothing about needing to wait I have to assume he either didn't care about us as customers or is a very poor manager. The food was good but not good enough to ever return.

A
Anthony J. Gonzalez

Oysters were very bland, the scallops were small, overcooked, and tasted like burnt butter, and the sauteed spinach and fish tacos were extremely salty. On the other hand, the service was fast, sangria was nice, and the crab cakes were tasty. Tbh, I never walk away from Palmers happy, especially given the price. This was a final attempt and I'll probably never go back. Also, they don't really seem to change their menu much. It's been years since I've been here and I recognized most of the same options as last time. Unfortunately, there's not a great place for seafood in Lexington.

We chose to have a casual anniversary dinner outside. Our waitress took our dink order and brought us waters while we waited for our drinks. She walked by to help another table twice and looked right at us but never came back. We left after 25-30 minutes. 👎

G

15 minutes after being seated and not so much as a drink order being taken. No one seated inside, and there only 3 other tables outside. Watched 4 servers walk by like we didn’t exist so got up and walked out.

The service from Cashenna was absolutely phenomenal, and the atmosphere was fantastic - sitting outside on the patio next to the water! Now for the food…what a let down. In looking at the menu, the items on it were all calling my name, and the descriptions were exciting. The execution was far less than impressive, or even mediocre. The first red flag should have been when we ordered oysters and the shuck was so bad that there was no liquor left in the bottom of the shell, and the oyster wasn’t detached…nor were they served on a bed of crushed ice. So we ate cool oysters after self-detaching with no oyster liquor. The bacon wrapped scallops sounded great, so we ordered those as another appetizer. The scallops themselves were just ok, but they were just thrown in a bowl of shredded lettuce. No pride taken in presentation. The fresh bread and olive oil with balsamic and seasoning were very fresh and on point. Next course we ordered a bowl of corn & clam chowder, and the wedge salad to share. The chowder was flavorless, and not hot. I took a bite and said no more; wife took a bite and agreed. The wife thought the wedge salad was good - I thought it was ok as the dressing was a little heavy. In lieu of continuing to disappoint our palettes, we opted to call it at that and forgo ordering entrees. We tipped our waitress, Cash, as though we had ordered entrees because she did an amazing job! If the back of the house could have as much effort and care into doing their jobs - preparing flavorful dishes, with pride in presentation, that match the excitement of the menu descriptions, this would be an amazing restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. More than happy to further discuss our experience with anyone that would like more details.
