Really cool spot with modern ordering and super friendly staff. I got fries and a shake during the great Austin ice storm of ‘26 (which kept Mike Truty homebound - what a relief) when they were the only place that stayed open on all of South Congress. Big 👊👊👊to Alex and Javier for good service and to whoever runs the playlist. The Ocean Blue is a great deep pull.
Very Tasty! I had the double bacon jam burger and the hand cut traditional fries. Definitely a stop when in Austin.
bsolutely outstanding service! The bartender was not only skilled and efficient but also incredibly friendly and attentive. They went above and beyond to make sure every drink was perfect and every guest felt welcome. It’s rare to find someone who combines professionalism with such a warm, personable attitude. Truly made the night memorable—thank you! Alex the bartender.
Hopdoddy is always giving the best vibes and food! This particular visit was more than incredible! Staff was super friendly and on point. Food was amazingggg as always. Fries always come out quicker than my husband, which is an amazing experience that I don’t get often. Bartender Tyler was the funniest guy ever and very attentive and the GM Regina also came out to greet us and check on our visit. Very rare for other restaurants. 10/10 GO TO THIS HOPDODDY! You won’t be disappointed:)
Had a good experience at this location. We sat at the bar and the waitress was attentive and friendly. She even got us full fresh sauces when we asked for our food to go. Truffle fries and drinks don’t miss. They also offer mini sizes of their drinks and shakes, not sure if other locations do that.
Thoroughly impressed! I love burgers — so when I eat one that’s good enough to leave a review, that means you need to try it. We had a group of 12 people, including three kids, and they were very accommodating. The kids’ seating was convenient and thoughtfully set up, which made things easy for our group. With a party that size, we were able to try a wide range of the menu. We ordered the Cadillac Wagyu, Double Bacon Jam, The Classic, and the Goodnight Burger — and every single one was tasty and cooked perfectly. I will be craving the fried Brussels sprouts forever. The hot honey sweet potato fries were delicious — I don’t normally order sweet potato fries, but I would absolutely get them again here
So good the first time, we went back the next day. If my wife hadn't insisted we continue our road trip I'd probably still be there working my way through the menu. Happy hour the second visit made it an unexpected value. Shareable truffle fries were enough for four. Crispy hot honey brussel leaves were addicting. Doddy melt, Waygu smash, and sliders were too good. Service was pleasant and professional. Beer was very beery.
The wagyu smash burger was incredible. The combination of flavors just melts in your mouth. Lots of options on the menu so there is something for everyone. Appreciate that the ingredients are locally sourced. Staff is super friendly. The fries alone are fine, they have a good crisp to them, but the homemade condiments really take them to the next level— definitely try the chipotle bbq sauce or the chipotle mayo!
Went during happy hour on Memorial Day and it was fantastic. There was basically no wait, and the cocktails were all half off, can't be it! We ordered a Goodnight, El Diablo, fries (don't forget the truffle aioli!), and a Big Larry, each and every item came out perfect and it was very cheap. EL Diablo was quite hot, I wouldn't get it if you're faint of heart. I've been to a few other Hopdoddy's in Austin and they have been somewhat hit or miss, but this location did not disappoint at all, I'll make the trek out here rather than the other spots.
It is one of the best burgers I have tasted in my whole life!! 🍔 I've ordered the Thunderbird since I'm such a huge fan of chicken patties. 🐔 The food is rich with flavor and vegetables which I liked. I will definitely come back and try their other burgers. It is a bit expensive for the size, though. Service is good and the people are nice. The place can be so busy during the weekends, so patience is required. The place is always crowded, so if you want to talk with someone, this is not the place. But if you'd like to enjoy the food, indulge in!!
The el Diablo and the wagyu smash burgers were great! The place was very clean and there was plenty of room to sit.
Food was excellent. I order the classic burger and fries. The fries were crispy and delicious. The burger had super good flavor and I added the bacon. We also ordered a Doddy melt. It was really good although maybe a bit sweet for my taste but it was still good. Atmosphere is very live with music and service was good.
I had high hopes and expectations for my first time and Hopdoddy and unfortunately they were a little spoiled. The good? Incredible menu with a large selection of standard and non-standard burgers. The tres leches shake was out of this world! The not good? We both ordered the Buffalo Bill burger and the heat level was very high on this particular day! My buddy LOVES spice and even he had a bit of trouble. The green chili cheese sauce was also hotter than normal according to him. Since I can't handle spice that well it put a damper on the experience. HOWEVER! I would definitely go back...I would just order something different.
First time we ate here and the burgers were decent but a bit small. The drinks were solid, but the fries we received were not that hot. Just a little parm thrown on them. The truffle aioli was amazing and the green chili queso was good although not hot enough. The system upon ordering is a bit confusing as you place the order with a person ..all the way at the back of the restaurant. A gentleman approached us and asked us where we wanted to sit while we were ordering, and the whole thing was just a bit confusing. I feel like the seating part should be done at the door. And even the food ordering We had a good time nonetheless and enjoyed the food and may be back!
There's usually a huge line to get in, and it's an order at the register situation. The issue with that is it can be difficult to find a seat since ordering good doesn't guarantee a place. It's a order first hope to find a seat later. Thankfully I've never had the issue of not being able to find a seat. The food was good. My burger was cooked exactly how I asked for it be. I just not crazy about the restaurant's overall setup.
Great burger spot! Plenty of burger choices and alternatives available like chicken and tuna. They have about 12 burgers or so, salads, shakes and hand cut fries. The fries also come with different options like truffle, sweet potato etc. You wait in line to order the food / drinks at the counter, then they assign your group a table and bring the food out to you. There is plenty of seating available inside and they also have tables outside. I didn’t enjoy the fries as much as I would like. They weren’t very hot when they came to the table so that’s my only reason for 4 stars. Very much still worth a visit when you are next to downtown Austin.
Tried Hopdoddy Burger Bar in Austin after hearing the hype, but honestly, it didn’t live up to expectations. The burger was underwhelming, especially the cheese, which was a melted mess that ruined the flavor and texture. Sweet potato fries were a letdown too—over-salted and overly greasy. On a positive note, the service was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the food didn’t deliver, and I won’t be returning.
Was, Ok was expecting better...tiny portions ..meat had no seasoning, leftover greasy fry bits , had to hunt for catsup, condiments should be on tables. Plating on a tiny tray made it look even smaller...overall presentation...sad..Sorry but Habit Burger way better and Shake Shack way better ..If a place is going to try to be upscale you need to up the game ..
My experience with the restaurant started when I called. A human did not answer the phone, an AI bot did. I asked if there were vegan options. It told me there were 2 dishes, so my friend and I went there. (My friend is not vegan, but I am.) I suspect, like with other AI bots, the AI told me what I "wanted" to hear to end the call, rather than giving me the truth. I would have chosen a different place if the AI properly informed me of the limited vegan offerings. Parking was confusing. There are slots next to the building, but you can't park there. You have to drive into a parking tower. In the tower, the signage was confusing. I parked in a slot, got out of the car, then realized that spot could not be validated when I read the sign carefully while standing next to it. I moved my car to a spot that was eligible for validation. It was a little weird you couldn't walk into the door near the parking garage, you had to walk to the front of the building to enter. I tried to order a dish at the counter-cashier, but it turned out, this specific location did not have it. The cashier said not all locations have the same dishes. They had no straight-up vegan dish, but one could be made vegan. Having said I was vegan and to make sure it was vegan, I placed my order. My friend placed an order, and bought fries to share with me. Upon sitting down, her fries had clearly cheese on them, so I went to order my own fries. A different person from the cashier noticed me walking back to the ordering area, and asked if I needed help. I told him I was vegan and could not share my friend's fries, and wanted to buy my own. The guy said that the fries were made in tallow, so no fries would be vegan. I thanked him for his heads-up and went to sit down to eat the solo-burger. The bartender over heard I was vegan, and then told me the burger I got had mayo in in, so someone came to take the burger. Perhaps the first cashier did not understand vegans and vegetarians have different parameters. I was disappointed, because I said I was vegan and wanted it served with vegan ingredients only, but at least I did not bite into the burger yet. The food runner also mentioned they had vegan cheese that could be added to the burger, and I accepted that modification. I was pretty hungry, but I waited more. My friend got to start eating immediately. It would have been nice if the initial cashier helped me order the burger vegan the first time, but at least the other people helped me in the end. I would have preferred vegan fries with my burger too. I did not like the parking validation system. My friend said it took 3 weeks for the validation charge to be credited to her. It should have never been charged to her and later refunded. It should have been a pending-charge, and that pending charge should have been cancelled. Overall, I can't say I would go back. The place is probably fine for meat-eaters. Probably fine if you take an ride-share. Not a great place for vegans or people who drove their own vehicle.
First time visiting this burger bar. Had high hopes based on previous reviews, but I was a bit disappointed. The patty melt was about $15 without fries and was nothing special. Fries were $4.50 and way overpriced for the amount of food provided. My wife ordered the Thunderbird bowl salad, which was quite tasty, but absolutely drowning in the dressing as you can see from the photos. Definitely not the healthy option. Would be willing to try other options on the menu, but there are so many other places to try first.
This was a weird experience. First, they assign you a seat while you are waiting to order. The place wasn’t close to full, but for some reason we were told where to sit. Second, ordering took a long time for no reason. Third, I asked to move to a different table when we saw where we had been assigned. The staff acted like it was a big deal that I asked to sit where I wanted to sit. Fourth, the person who brought our food out noticed that mine had bacon on it even though I didn’t ask for bacon. I don’t eat bacon but denied her offer to have it remade as I could just remove it. The silly part is that it was one piece of bacon… This isn’t somewhere I would eat at again.
I was so excited to try the truffle fries and burger, but was let down :/ Meh. Truffle fries lacked the truffle flavor and didn’t have enough salt. Sauces were bland :/ Good portion size though. OG burger was ok. The patty was small, a little dry, and lacked flavor. The bun was decent and fresh veggies were prepped and presented well.
I’m confused people like this place. It is a real example of instagram mediocrity. Like if you look at a picture or hear what it is, it looks and sounds good. But it’s very disappointing if you actually understand food. Let’s start with the patties, they seem to be uniform in size, think and very chewy. Sometimes very dry. Then you have the buns, which kinda has this very dry skin on top of it and it just seems to lack moisture. Then you have the French fries, they are shoestring style or something; anyway because of how they are, the don’t hold their taste well and it’s a race to eat them fast because once they go cold the bad flavors make it inedible. Then you have the shakes, usually looking really good but they lack the flavor of a true milkshake, it kinda ends up tasting like a diet ice cream. Then the dishes they make seem to be executed to the blandest possible variation. Sauces have one not, either too sweet or what is that? Then service is kinda bad as well because it’s order at the front and nobody really serves you (I guess they didn’t want to pay servers. Bartenders are pretty slow and all of their drinks taste like lemonade without water mixed in. All sour and sweet; me and my friend could only tolerate half our drinks before checking out they were so bad. Who approves this menu? I predict this place might crash and burn. Also their ketchup tastes bad.
