Order Parthilly Rock Oyster, pickled herring and mussels as starters. We love the herring, I first had this in Amsterdam and this surely is better! The mussel is good as well but not much surprise. Then we had the last fish and chip of the night! After us they ran out and it is just 7pm! The fish is so fresh, very crispy as well. It gives some awesome crunchy sound when I knock it with my fork! It also keep its crunchiness after we have taken many photos and let it rest for couple minutes. Overall, good quality food with reasonable price. Highly recommended.

Every dish was delicious & well presented. Small plates of well prepared fish & seafood with amazing sauces. The staff were very welcoming, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The restaurant is quite small but not cramped. I would highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely return.

Lovely little place. It is small but you can sit comfortably. The food is extraordinary and fresh, I liked that you could see on the wall where the food came from. The highlights for us was the langoustines, dory, tartare and the lemon merengue. The staff and service is wonderful, friendly and helpful. We ordered clams but they were a bit sandy and they took it off the menu, which is really fair to me. The sauces are amazing, like plate licking good... Would definitely go back.

A lovely little restaurant with great service and, if possible, even better food. We loved the little touches like the blackboard map on the wall indicating where the fresh catches for the day came from. I especially enjoyed the cullen skink croquettes to start and the fish n chips - the haddock was beautifully flaky and mushy peas delicious as well.

Hands down BEST FISH N CHIPS IN THE WORLD!! Excellent quality and perfect execution. Lobster risotto was on point, padron peppers were just right, and fresh oysters (no pics) were outstanding. Avocado mousse with crab meat could have used some more crab meat though.

Had an enjoyable dinner experience at Bonnie Gull with fish and seafood cooked in ways I've never tasted before! The staff were very attentive and friendly. We were a big group in a fairly small restaurant but they accommodated us very well.

This place easily has the best fish-and-chips if you are out of town and you want the best in town way of getting safer there is no freezer basically in this restaurant because all the fish is served fresh daily we had the whole fish lift the sauce but the mackerel with the bone broth is crazy and of course be fish-and-chips is very good they fry the French fries in beef drippings a different take on French fries but I really like the barman you meaning they have good cocktails

The food they serve was great. The place had great service and the waitress was very kind. I highly recommend this restaurant. I tried the cod fish, it was excellent.

Great seafood place. The variety of dishes is amazing and the service has no match. A must visit if you are in London.

The fish and chips is the best you'll ever taste. Period. And the overall quality of this restaurant is exceptional.

I’ve tried a number of fish & chip joints in London and this is by far my favorite. It’s a bit posh, but the food is incredible. The restaurant is pretty small and intimate.

This restaurant is a jewel! Marvellous fresh food, great staff and the prices are very decent. I'll visit again for sure

Seriously the best fish and chips I've ever had in my life. The rest of the menu looked quite fancy as well. I'll try the other dishes when I come back.

We were actually having drinks in Simmons opposite Bonnie Gull and was drawn to go and take a look.... we went to get some cockles but thankfully they didn't have them.... we had never had Oysters before so decided to try them.. OMG! They were amazing! My friend didn't think so... but I'm so glad we did it. I loved it! I had a little squeeze of lemon and a touch of the special sauce made with red wine, red wine vinegar and finely chopped shallots! .... and chewed it as instructed by one of the chefs! 😱👌🏼👌🏼😍😍😍wonderful!! And a complimentary small glass of white wine as we were oyster virgins! Wonderful staff, very helpful, relaxed atmosphere, would absolutely come back! Recommend a visit... I am not lucky enough to be local, I live in Kent and was on a day out with a large group of girls from work, if I lived or worked locally I'd be here every week! ................... Amazing!...................5*+............................

This place kept a nice balance between fancy and casual with its kitschy yet elegant maritime decor (hemp rope designs on the wall, whitewashed wood paneling, vintage cockle and clam boxes set into the walls). The small dining room sets up an intimate atmosphere and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. We had the mussels (some of the meatiest mussels I've ever had), the mackerel pate, and the brim, all of which were top notch. I highly recommend this place, but make sure you either get there early or have a booking, they fill up quite quick!

Very good food, service and atmosphere. I had the crab fritters, lemon sole with a side of the best chunky chips ever, followed by the cheese selection. Perfect. The wine list is good too. Great place.

Delicious, fresh and sustainable seafood. All of our savoury dishes were excellent in flavour and execution. The apple and rhubarb crumble wasn't quite as well polished (crunchy fruit and lukewarm). Service was excellent.

M

Probably the best fish and chips I've had in London in years. Was perfectly cooked with really fresh fish. The chips were cut much thicker than my Yorkshire heritage would deem entirely proper but were very crispy. Second visit I had cod with an almond crust and it was fantastic.

Incredible gourmet fish restaurant. My partner got a craving for fish and chips a couple of nights earlier and a Google search for 'best fish and chips' landed us a reservation here. Intitally we got off on a slightly wrong foot after I confidently led us to the wrong restaurant in time for our booking. I accidentally lead us to their other premises in Soho which was confusingly closed. Another quick Google had us running to the correct location in Fitzrovia, just in time. The restaurant had some delicious sounding options, but we had already decided on the beer battered haddock. We enjoyed every bite of it, soft and super-fresh fish in a monstrously gnarly batter, with think crunchy and fluffy dripping cooked chips. The finely crafted peas and tartare sauce rounded it all off superbly. Even the ketchup requested on the side tasted home made. Overall, highly recommended.

The food they serve was great. The place had great service and the waitress was very helpful in choosing the dishes. I highly recommend this restaurant. The fish was very fresh and you could taste the ocean. Absolutely great!

The food was exquisite and the service was amazing. The fish is obviously really fresh and there's a map showing where the fish has come from. It's a very cosy restaurant so booking a table is a must.

Truly great experience. Food absolutely amazing and front of house were lovely and real helpful. That monkfish starter and rye cod main to die for! Lots of love for what your doing as a restaurant. Will be back again sometime in the future!

Three work colleagues and I had a lunch here and everything was 5-Star. The pre-starters, oysters, starters, mains, and desserts were fabulous. Everything was fresh, artfully presented, and high quality food. The staff were attentive, friendly, and humble. Highly recommend!!

Bonnie Gull - came as a recommendation, never really eaten/enjoyed seafood in the UK so this came as a nice surprise. A real hidden gem. We sat outside in the most glorious weather and enjoyed plate after plate of delicious mouth watering food. Recommend starting with a cocktail, then sample some Oysters. The Hake (the menu varies day to day) was exceptional, and I would also recommend the Queenies to start, which came as a surprise as I had no idea what they were! This place is first class, so "never judge a book" has never been more applicable. Shack this looks like, 5* it tastes.

D
Davide Pizghetti

Perfectly cooked turbot, pollock and razor clams. Delicious crabs and a great choice of really tasty wine. All that, then amazingly good desserts like strawberry Eton mess with basil jelly. Try the Jura sparkling white too! Brilliant service too. Friendly and attentive.

Lovely dining experience here last night, the cod and trout were fantastic especially the accompanying sauces. Superb recommendation of wine by our server as well. Oysters were great too, just next time keep the fresh horseradish in abundance, it compliments them well. Typically seafood establishments are almost too casual but we did really like the ambiance here. Definitely would recommend to anyone.

I love this place. I walk by it regularly and always get amazing smells and see happy people. I visit at least once a month and it’s nice that the menu changes to follow seasonal ingredients. They make the best mussels in wine sauce (ask for extra toasted baguette so you can drink every last drop of the broth). I especially like that the food is all sourced locally. The service is really good, and the restaurant is kinda small but it adds to the cozy vibe. Cute decor. A great nice meal to have with a date!

Probably one of the best restaurant experience I've had in London! Food was incredible, services was brilliant, all the waiters were friendly and very knowledgeable about the food and where it comes from (They are very eco friendly). Wine was wonderful and and everything was very well priced. Will defiantly be returning as this place is a very fine example of an excellent restaurant. Hit all my bases, starter, mains, desert, wine and service! :)

Probably my favourite seafood place in London. It's super chill but the food is very refined and the flavours are great. Honestly if I were to dream up my ideal restaurant it would be this - it's wonderful but humble and friendly. We ate at Cornerstone by Tom Brown (which is also great) the day before coming here and I was worried that this place would suffer in comparison, but it doesn't - it is absolutely, objectively excellent.

A little beautiful fishrestaurant with good atmosphere inside. Even at you sit close to the other guests, the noise level is very low, so you can carry on a conversation at the table. The service is very good and there is no stress on. The food is really good and well prepared. Take some oyster to begin with. Next time I travel to London I will come back.

My wife and I dined here on Thursday evening and both thoroughly enjoyed the food, the wine, the relaxed atmosphere and the high standard of service. The sardine and squid starters were very enjoyable and the pollock and turbot mains were absolutely superb. The staff were very knowledgeable, attentive and helpful. Certainly will return. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening.

Brilliant. Lovely atmosphere, great service & amazing food. The portion sizes were big so just ordering starter versions meant I could try more yummy dishes. I loved the squid, crab, bouillabaise (mmmm) and of course Fish & awesome Chips. Plus a great champagne cocktail. What a great night out.

A little more pricey than other options in London, but this is really worth it. Great fresh fish, interesting and seasonal dishes in a cosy atmosphere. Very small though, so don't try to drop in off the street unless you're happy to risk a long wait.

Absolutely fantastic seafood restaurant with great food and great service. I visited here without booking but staff were very accomodating and let us have a table. On the day we visited they were doing the £1 oysters deal which was fantastic way to start and then I ended up having 3 more courses as the food was so tasty. The menu is full of interesting options. Based on my last visit here I would say this is my favourite seafood restaurant in London at the moment. I will definitely be coming back here, but with more people next time! (And prebooking)!👍

Eating in this place was a pleasant experience. You can either sit in side or outside, being outside is much better. Food was amazing in terms of quality and look. Prices a bit high but it's seafood so there is no surprise, around 3 pounds for one oyster, good you could choose if you want whole crab or half , definitely half is enough, not everyone can eat lots of crab meat and not get bored with same taste, but it was delicious and getting out crab meat from shell was quite of a challenge, clums were very well prepared :) Overall I liked it!!!

G

We nearly ordered one of everything! The food was good. Comfortable except everyone kept reminding us that we had to return the table by 8 PM. Otherwise, the service was good and the place nice. I can see why it is popular.

Fresh fish in a cute (and upmarket) Britsh seaside setting with knowledgeable and friendly staff! The menu here is small with only seafood options depending on the catch of the day (more fish than shellfish when we went). We had very good oysters to start along with some tasty mussles - however our seafood expert friends did note that the mussels were overcooked (hence the four stars). For mains there were four fish options, fish and chips or lobster. We wanted to try all the fish so we shared the hake, sea bream, pollock and cod - thumbs up to all particularly the sea bream which had a deliciously crisp skin and the pollock which was quite a unique taste for a fish dish. Planning on coming back though might try out the Soho branch which looks to have a bigger menu.

Really delicious and fresh selection of fishes to choose from. The toast for the starter was excellent!

Delighted with my fish & chips. Chips was fried with beef dripping, crunchy and fresh but not super hot when served. Tartare sauce was light and flavourful. It wasn't too sharp, just great with the chips. Best I've had in London for a long while. While I wouldn't say the mushy peas was a let down, it didn't feel like it was freshly prepared and it needed something extra to it.

Been twice now, have had my fair share of fish and chips around London but none can compare to the Bonnie Gull. The Haddock is perfectly battered, really hits a good fluff:crisp ratio, and fittingly meaty. Don't forget the chips which are a cut above the rest of your fish and chip shops - triple fried and all that jazz. Have also had the pleasure of trying the Arbroath Smokies - could be a sentimental thing but I loved it. Then there was the Plaice and sausage with lentils; was slightly skeptical as I'm not used to mixing sausages and fish but turns out it was a complete delight. The team at the Bonnie Gull really care about the ingredients they use and it definitely comes through in the fish. I've only been here for lunch and from what I can tell its the perfect afternoon venue, good luck find a seat.

Had lunch on Valentine's here and it was perfect. I'm not into over the top loved up celebrations and there was no tackiness at this classy, small seafood restaurant. It was unfussy but very special at the same time which made it a spot-on choice for me. Welcoming and helpful staff. Choice of oysters. Vast but not too overwhelming wine list. Best of all really tasty, excellent value and superbly presented food. You'll need to reserve ahead. There were some non-fish options too but this is more a fish lover's destination. Can't wait for the opportunity to return!

T
Tab

Very good fish, probably some of the best and freshest for the price in the neighbourhood. Menu changes frequently, and the fish is not overcomplicated. The fish and chips is truly excellent and at only £15. Slightly tacky interior, but nice service. Dinner for 2 w/ wine approx £50.

N
Nigel

Very tasty fish (a little greasy, but good flavour.) Good drinks selection. Awesome outdoor seating on a quiet patio. 4 stars as it's a bit expensive for what you're getting.

Decent food across but nothing that really stood out (might have been what we ordered I suppose) so not sure I get the ratings. Enjoyed the squid starter.

L
Luca Zambarda

Went there with some friends and we decided to just go with prestarters and starters. The fish quality is undoubtely good however there was really too much mayonnaise in each food. We could barely taste the other ingredients, even the oysters!

A tough review to write but here goes. Initially really loved this place - the promise of a seemingly charming seafood bistro usually just the tonic. First visit was great, nice service and delicious fresh food. Went here last week, requested a table in the sun whilst booking. Did not receive one. Annoying given the rarity of sun in London but forgivable. Wines - no new world. Again, annoying but can understand given their focus on local produce. The biggest let down was the downright ridiculous lack of variety in this seafood joint. Again, I know the focus is local. But at the risk of sounding like a brat- No prawns, no mussels, no crab, no lobster, no whitebait, no smoked salmon, no razor clams, no salmon, no scallops, no calamari rings, no squid, no pate, no octopus, no tuna, no swordfish, no urchin nor langoustines. WHAT?? It was only serving white fish and oysters. Advice for all going- ring the day of to avoid disappointment. The food took ages to arrive and when it did, was just underwhelmed. Staff and service great.

M
Marc

The meal was not good. I couldn't finish it. Extremely salty. This place has a very cozy feeling. The service was friendly and very efficient. It's unfortunate they did not deliver a good meal.

K
Kamilla Bak

Used to love this place but was really disappointed last time, did the team change? The bouillabaisse should be a rich fish soup but I got an almost empty plate with one piece of fish and a thin layer of soup/sauce... Almost more like a starter instead of a main. The bread I had to order separately was undercooked and also didn't go with the dish at all flavour wise. Surely stuff like this should be known by an experienced team?

J
João Loureiro

We tried the fish and chips and although the ingredients were of good quality the overpriced food (18 pounds for a plate of fish and chips) had absolutely no flavour whatsoever. The haddock wasn't properly seasoned; the chips (advertised as beef-driping) tasted nothing like their description and their large size ruined their texture, resembling and tasting more like a giant baked potato than an actual crispy fry... Tartar sauce was good and was the only thing that gave some resemblance of flavour to an otherwise very bland and uninspired interpretation of fish and chips.
