The food was incredible. The olive oil negroni was even better but could deffo do with being double shots, rather than single. Sophia deserves a shout out as she was a ray of sunshine - sad to say our experience with everyone else was on a scale or bland to rude. It didn’t feel like Clapham, the atmosphere was right. SCRUM! Such delicious plates, gorgeous interiors - perfect for a cute lil evening 🕯️Service was amazing too! Highlights were the soda bread, the croquettes, the crab … tbh it was all amazing. Thank you! 🤭
A lovely blend of casual and fine dining all in one! The menu had a lovely range of dishes, stand out ones were the Stracciatella, cod with crab, and the brown butter cake (which looks rather plain at first glance is such a wonderful surprise - so moorish!) Archie was super friendly, helpful and not at all ‘pushy’ - thank you!
We had a delicious Sunday set menu. Lovely service from Jade and Claire. Really fresh raddichio salad and a Gorgeous Porchetta main course. Would definitely come back for dinner.
Came for the set menu Sunday roast! Very impressive and a very different fancy take on a Sunday roast meal. Defitnely want to go back and try the à la carte menu. Cocktails were also on point.
We enjoyed dining here so much so that we returned one week later. Our host, Claire, was very friendly and helpful. And she can expect to see us there again soon!
beautiful spot next to the art gallery, with a varied menu and lovely design. we had a brilliant spread of food. came with a party of 3 for a midweek dinner and it was at a comfortable capacity
Such a great evening, lovely food, settings and ambience. Jade and Archie are the best and really looked after us - thank you!
We went here to celebrate our anniversary, and it was perfect. Restaurant is great for a special occasion, but I can also imagine coming and sitting at the counter for a quick lunch. Our waitress was absolutely amazing, the food was very good. My only regret was that we ordered chips and the breaded pork cutlet, that was a bit too rich, should've gotten a salad instead. They turn around the tables quite quickly. We had our table for 1.5 hours, had we ordered dessert we would not have had time, but they were very nice about it and we finished our drinks in the garden. It's a small restaurant so I understand, the need to do this. Just be prepared.
An absolutely wonderful evening at Crispin. Food was amazing, and Archie was a truly exceptional server. Made the experience even better and went above and beyond for us.
The staff here are great and the food is all unreal. So many amazing flavour combos - would highly recommend. You can walk it all off after looking around the gallery in there!
I knew this was going to be opening, but I did not realise that they had already opened since last March. I went with a friend for an unplanned Sunday lunch, and we arrived when the restaurant had not started the lunch service yet ( they start at 13 ). We had some chores to do, and were told they would accommodate us at 13 even though we had not booked in advance. We went back at 13, and I ordered the Comte croquette to start with, followed by the confit tomatoes, then the steak bavette with anchovy hollandaise and bone marrow, accompanied by an extremely nice house wine. The dessert I chose was the chocolate cremeaux with hazelnut, and, because I am greedy, I also ordered the briwn butter cake with crème fraiche and rhubarb. The service was very nice and the chef was very knowledgeable and friendly. The food is outstanding, and cooked with precision and flair, the quality of every ingredient is top notch, and the results are spectacular! This is honest, unfussy cooking at its best ! A very welcome addition to Clapham, and I feel very privileged to have such a place so close to my home. I can’t wait to go back again very soon !
Loved the food, especially the mains. Great spot for weekend lunch or a candle lit date night! East london vibes in South West London!
One of the best spots london has to offer, vibe, design and food are immaculate Menu + suggestions where amazing
Absolutely great service. We didn't have a booking and they accommodated us and found us a table. The bread we got whilst we waited was sooo good!!! And the starters were also great! Definitely recommend!!!
Great food - superb service from Hector and lovely company with my friend Joan. A belated birthday meal. Only complaint is a draughty automatic door…
Neat place, comfortable, very friendly staff, efficient and helpful; food fantastic!! Definitely recommended; also love this place with modern arts!!
Such a hidden treasure! I went with some girlfriends for Friday evening dinner and it was such a lovely evening - the food was 10/10, the service was so personable and really helpful, great wine selection and the atmosphere was the perfect mix of intimate and buzzy! Will definitely be going back!!
How have I not been here before ? ... fab place for Sunday lunch .. really nice cooking, great selection of wines on tap ( and in bottles ! ) .. It's not your traditional Sunday lunch, but some lovely dishes .. the Pork and the roast Squash were particularly lovely .. It's inside the Studio Voltaire Art Gallery which often means there's other cool things to see as well and gives it a unique atmosphere ... Definitely a worthy addition to the Clapham dining scene
Had such a fantastic time celebrating my birthday here! They accommodated 20 of us - the food and wine were perfect! Highly recommended
We had a great time at Crispin, not our first time the food as always was great, Claire sorted us out with everything we needed, super helpful, and really enjoyed the night!
Claire has been great. Lovely atmosphere and the soda bread was amazing. Great wild mushrooms feulliette
Lovely service from Sophia, she made my husbands birthday a special time for us all. Great food as well. :)
Lovely place - loved the vibes all around. Thank you to Claire who was the sweetest! Soda bread was 100/10
Brilliant in every way! We had seven different dishes between two of us and absolutely all the food was fantastic but the hake was especially delicious. To cap it we had friendly and wonderful service from Claire.
We were sat up on the bar and looked after by Jade all night. Legend!! We were completely flawed by the flavours of this menu all night. We live around the corner and we’ve just found our local. Crispy pigs head with blood orange is the standout dish (please dont skip it! - so good!!) we’ll be back!
Very nice service and staff. We were seated at the bar but the lady let us have the seated table to give us a nice experience. And the steak tartare and the scallops very really really nice.
Great food! Fantastic hake with chickpeas, crabmeat salad , poached pear! Lovely wine Lovely Jade our waitress.♥️ Atmosphere a bit drab /utility... better at night here in softening candlelight...but overall Great thankz🥀🥂🥀🥂🥀🥂
Outstanding. Truly a hidden gem tucked off the corner of Clapham high street. Food was delicious and menu was intelligently constructed. Service was superb… our waitress Jade was fantastic. I had a lovely meal with my friends. Excellent value & left feeling perfectly sate. Can’t wait to be back soon & try the other Crispín locations too.
Food was incredible!! Loved everything so much especially the straciatella with kumquat and monkfish cheek. Polished off all our platea to share and Jade was a star at service. Will definitely be back!
I had a friends birthday here. It was a brilliant eve img. Food was impeccable. Service was top notch. Especially Archie. He was so attentive; and made sure we were always topped up
Booked a big group dinner here for my husband’s birthday and it was so lovely! The staff was accommodating from the planning stages through to serving us, and the food, wine and cocktails were all wonderful! Fully recommend!
Absolutely terrific. Very great food, so nicely executed and presented. Stunningly, and I mean stunningly, amazing, welcoming, friendly, heartwarming service… seriously. By all means, there’s absolutely no reason not to give this place a try.
Everything about Crispin is perfect. The food is delicious (highly recommend the Stracciatella & Barbary Duck Leg dishes and Brown Butter Cake for dessert) and the service is wonderful (particularly from Clare ❤️) - a perfect meal and evening out. Thanks X
Archie P was obviously, a legend. Full of great recommendations even for me the vegetarian. What a lovely human to host our little date night. Really knowledgable and patient. Fab fab fab. X
Everything was amazing here and the setting is so lovely. My favorite was the croquette and stracciatella. Definitely come here for your next date night!
Fantastic atmosphere. Service was great too, had some really lovely waitresses Jade and Sophia!
Amazing food, very nice servers in an art studio setup. Unique aesthetic especially for Clapham! I would have the music slightly louder for more ambience but maybe that’s a personal preference!
We visited for our Anniversary meal for the first time. It was rhe perfect setting. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere Jade welcomed us and had extensive knowledge about the dishes. The food is mind blowing. The chefs certainly know what they're doing here! Well done to the whole team at Crispin- Studio Voltaire 🏆 We are definitely coming back!
I have been there a few times over a period of 9 months, having dined there as a group of 2 as well as having organised our anniversary party. Organisation has been great, service was attentive. Chloe who handled our party booking and logistics was very helpful. On the night of our party, we had a few no shows which means we had plenty of food left. Staff packed them individually so our friends could take them home. All of our friends commented how helpful and attentive they were. Food plates are creative and seasonal. I have also become gluten free and the latest menu (in early Dec) was 80% gluten free and very tasty. Price wise is Clapham so it is not a steal but in line with expectations. I will surely return.
A very cute place, with excellent service and food! Claire took care of us and even went extra mile to help us order! I do hope the lady will get the right recognition, she was fabulous. Btw they have an amazing art gallery so you if have time pop in and have a look. We will definitely come back.
Crispin at Studio Voltaire is an absolute gem! it’s tucked away in Clapham, feeling like a real discovery. The ever-changing menu always offers something exciting and delicious, keeping me coming back for more… and more! The dim-lit atmosphere creates such a cozy and inviting vibe, perfect for any occasion. The service is consistently amazing, with truly attentive staff. A special shout-out to Claire, who was fantastic during my last visit! Highly recommend.
I came here a while ago around November time. I loved the space, the candles, the wooden tables. The service was great. The food was good, just not my style. I thought the dishes were a bit small, especially the pheasant.
Archie is a great asset to the team-helpful with the menu and looked after us well. Only improvement with the food is if the leek starter was warm. Thank you!
Slightly disappointed with Crispin at Studio Voltaire! It’s been on my list for a while but did not live up to expectations. The main courses were nice, however the starters were not great. The leeks were covered in mustard and extremely chewy and the pork skewer came cold, as all food was delivered on cold plates. House wine was tasty! We luckily had a 50% discount code. However, I would feel it was overpriced if we had needed to pay the full amount.
I was really looking forward to trying this place. Unfortunately the food, although good, was not special at all to justify the price. You could easily replicate the same food in you kitchen. Staff were kind and professional, but at some point we were left with our finished starters plates for over 15 minutes, which shouldn’t happen in a place where you pay 13.5% service charge. The atmosphere however was excellent.
Has been on my list for quite some time, although have to say I was fairly disappointed by the food. Both in value and also flavour. Me and my partner had one snack, a small dish each and one big dish each with a side and two glasses of wine. We both went for the cod cheek, however this came out battered and with a dip, seemed a bit punchy at ~£15 for 4 small battered pieces of cod. I went for the pork chop @ £30. Did expect some fat but would say it was on the extreme side, most disapointing however was the flavour, it was extremely bland, felt like it hadnt been seasoned. Gave a piece to my partner (who loves pork) and she didnt even finish the piece. Disappinting when it was just a pork chop. Service however was very good. Maybe just a bad day or a poor menu (changes quite often I believe). But overall disappointing for £130.
Food was very good, soda bread and the Coombeshead cured meat were excellent as were the puddings. Good wine selection and the cocktail we had to start was delicious. Duck leg was fine, lentils were a little firmer than expected, but all flavourful. Small plates all tasty. Mains were over £30 and quite small. The cost would have all felt worth it if the service had been better, was quite ramshackle. We were told our table wasn’t ready after being led to a table for two then sent to the bar. Then before we had got the drinks we ordered we were then taken back to the same table we’d been stood next to. This wasn’t a problem, but we were then left for long periods waiting to order drinks or waiting for our food, to pay etc dark haired lady serving behind the bar was very good but otherwise it felt pretty sub par on the service side. £180 for two with wine warrants better and more attentive service.
The atmosphere is lovely at Crispin, but the service and food were disappointing. I don’t mind paying a lot for food in London (I appreciate how much it costs to run a restaurant in 2026), but we didn’t feel very welcome. Maybe we just got unlucky because I can see from other reviews that the service is normally excellent. Our booking was at 5pm when the restaurant had just opened. Despite this, it took a long time to place our drinks order and not much help was given when I asked for certain dishes to be explained. When our food arrived and was placed down on the table (by a different waiter), it was rushed and the names of the courses were mumbled so we weren’t sure what had arrived. I wish it was made clear on the menu that the cod cheeks starter was fried. To pay £14.5 for three very small pieces of fried fish felt steep. The trout was delicious as was the beef tartare.
We love this place. The venue, the vibe, the slightly off-beat location — it feels like a pocket of progressive London dropped into a relatively unprogressive neighbourhood. It feels special. There’s real theatre here: the curtains, candlelight, Thonet furniture, handmade fixtures and fittings, and the fact that it sits within an art centre all contribute to something genuinely atmospheric. It’s almost like a little slice of East London transplanted to Clapham. We’re regular customers at Crispin and have long admired the company and its wider mission. So it was surprising — and disappointing — to return after some time away and find that none of the familiar staff remain. Completely new management and floor team. We had a table for three booked for an early Saturday evening dinner. One bright spot: the gentleman who helped us with wine was outstanding — confident, charming, knowledgeable, and clearly someone who understands hospitality. We’re an indecisive group and he guided us effortlessly to the house red, which was spot on. Unfortunately, the rest of the service didn’t meet the same standard. The new waiting staff appeared inexperienced and lacked polish. One waiter in particular came across as slightly arrogant — no warmth, no explanation, no sense of care. Items were simply dropped on the table without context (“your cutlery is coming”, “I’ll bring lemon”, etc.) — small things, but they matter. When ordering, we were very clear about a few specifics: • one dish dairy-free • no salt on another • all mains to be served at the same time This wasn’t fussy — just a clear and considered request. Historically, Crispin has struggled with timing (salads arriving after mains, which has always been frustrating), so we were reassured when the team said this would be honoured. It wasn’t. Two dishes arrived. The dairy-free/no-salt dish was over-salted and cold. The second dish was also cold. The third dish never arrived. We waited, assuming it was imminent, but after five minutes we began eating. We asked about the missing dish three times. It eventually arrived — after two of us had already finished. The sides were also poor. The green salad was limp and underwhelming, and the grilled greens were so charred they were barely edible. We raised this with the maître d’, who was apologetic and offered a gesture of goodwill, which we appreciated. She acknowledged the mistakes. Our message to Crispin at Studio Voltaire is this: you have created something genuinely remarkable here. The space, the identity, the intent — it’s all there. But you need to invest in training, bring in the right people, and seriously raise your game on food execution and service consistency. It’s sad to see a place with so much potential fall short of what it could — and should — be.
