Ixchel Mexican Restaurant & Tequila Bar

The atmosphere is incredible it’s worth visiting even just to take photos. The food was absolutely delicious; honestly, one of the best Mexican meals I’ve ever had. The staff were extremely attentive and made us feel like we were being personally taken care of. Even the restroom design was stunning and spotlessly clean. We were happy with everything.

If you’re going to Ixchel, go in knowing this: the place is a visual knockout before the food even lands. Upstairs feels like you’ve stepped into a sun-drenched Mexican daydream: bright, colourful, warm, and unapologetically family-friendly. Think holiday energy without the flight. But head downstairs and it flips completely. The “cave” level is intimate, moody, seductive, the kind of spot where conversations get slower and the drinks hit harder. Two floors, two totally different worlds, and both done right. Portions? Shockingly generous for Chelsea. They’re not playing the tiny-plate-for-big-money game here. The standout hits: • Pork tacos: packed, juicy, no dead space in the tortilla. • Prawn quesadillas: ridiculous. Rich, cheesy, loaded with prawns, and basically impossible to share politely. • Ribeye steak - fantastic. Proper flavour, proper char, not the usual overpriced disappointment London throws at you. And the finale: the burnt Basque cheesecake. The cherry on top - creamy, smoky, and genuinely the kind of dessert you regret agreeing to share. Bottom line: Ixchel nails atmosphere on both floors, serves big portions, and delivers dishes that aren’t just pretty, they’re actually worth eating. Perfect for a loud, sunny group meal upstairs or a darker, close-conversation night downstairs.

Absolutely delicious food with super friendly attentive staff. Just a bit popular so noisy! You must try the rib which is cooked for 18 hours and the spiced Mexican mango dessert, both utterly wonderful. Thank you All!

Excellent experience! The food was excellent, and the service was simply wonderful. Thanks to Samia for the amazing hospitality. The place is very atmospheric, with interesting design and lighting. Everything we tried was absolutely fantastic. For the main course, we had the stone bass, and the sauces were simply perfect, as well as the tempura — the prawns were absolutely incredible.

Lovely decor creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff were friendly, helpful and not overbearing at all. It was my first visit for dinner. There were 3 of us and we ordered a combination of small plates, main dishes and dessert. We also had a cocktail each and the bill came to around £180. The outstanding dishes for us were the rock salt prawns which were juicy and delicious. The crab tostadas were great, as were the crispy potatoes. The short rib and butternut squash dishes were ok. But the star was the burnt cheesecake which was absolutely divine!! The cocktails also deserve a mention. I loved the Spicy cocktail which was definitely spicy, strong and delicious. Would definitely recommend a visit, although there is not much of a choice for non meat eaters who also dislike seafood. Yes, they exist! Otherwise , I loved it and would definitely visit again .

Val and Dodge made my birthday lunch with a friend extra especial. They even went the extra mile and offered a complimentary birthday surprise "tres leches slide of cake" with a lighted candle. Val presenting the menu and advising on our choices was impecable and very attentive to details. He is a very knowledgeable man and a true gentleman. Likewise Dodge service was outstanding. Food was exquisite, all dishes freshly prepared. Our favourite was the shrimps tacos; which we repeated :) We will definitely return and happy to recommend. It was a delightful experience.

I came from the US to spend New Year's with my family, and they booked our New Year's Eve dinner at Ixchel. We had a truly wonderful time. Great atmosphere, great food, great cocktails, and the decor is spectacular. Our table was on the sofas, which were very comfortable. The service was excellent. Samia always served us with a smile and was very helpful at all times. I will definitely return whenever I'm in London.

We were walking along King’s Road when my partner and I noticed the beautiful décor, and our curiosity led us to give this place a try. It turned out to be the best decision we could have made.The atmosphere was wonderful, the food was delicious, and the drinks were excellent. What truly made the experience stand out, however, was the service. Samia and Rishav provided outstanding service ,they were attentive, friendly, and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our visit. An amazing experience overall. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone passing by.

I went to dinner with my 2 daughters, and the food was incredible, the cocktails were incredible. Highly recommended the crab tostada and the prawns quesadilla were my strong point. Also the 3 leches cake and the cheesecake. The service was amazing, thank you Rishav for your excellent service and attention, and thanks to the bartender Zavier for their delicious cocktails. I was amazed with Ixchel. I will always recommend it

Overall a 5/5 experience. I was a bit hesitant to come to this restaurant thinking it might be alot of hype, however I was proved wrong. The food was delicious, lots of options and catered to elements that we liked and didn't like to make sure we had the best experience. The service was the highlight, specifically from Osman and Ali, so attentive, such great energy and cemented me as a returning customer. Wish we could have heard more from the live band but i'll save that for the next visit.

Ixchel is an absolute gem in Chelsea for Mexican flavours paired with the stunning atmosphere. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with warm hospitality and a stylish interior that blends rustic charm with a modern touch. I can’t get enough of their margarita, exceptional, creative, balanced, and bursting with fresh flavours. The tacos are simply divine, with generous fillings and bold, authentic tastes.

We are back again for our fabulous spa day! The lady’s here give a fabulous facial, massage, body scrub and pedi! They are so strong and know exactly what they are doing! We love to be upstairs and feel the breeze with the waves crashing!

Overall delightful dining experience. Rafael provided really great service. We decided to try here because the interior design seems fun and lively. And it actually reminds me of Mexico City which is nice. The bathroom design is also cool, make sure to check it out. The server told us the menu is designed to share and the bites are small, ended up ordering 4 dishes, was enough for me and my friend for lunch. I personally don’t drink but would love to take my boyfriend back here for their cocktails.

A delightful brunch! The moment you step into the space you get transported to Mexico through the vibe, ambience and decor - which is fantastic. I went to Brunch with my friend and the food was delicious. I have a dairy intolerance so I stuck to the vegan options which included the guacamole and chips, and oyster mushroom taco. The service was 10/10, no complaints as the staff were very attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed the charcoal lemonade and sorbet as a desert to finish everything off. I’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking to escape London for a bit and I’ll definitely be bac for dinner!

This place is at our door step and we have walked past it every day since it opened its door 4 months ago. After reading great reviews from others and we decided to give it a try on Tuesday lunch time. Great interiors and deco, our waiter who assisted us was someone we knew from a different establishment where he used to work in Chelsea. It's great to see a familiar face. We started with a German beer and a nice margarita cocktail 🍸. Two starters, two tacos , beef salad along with one side as well as one dessert. We truly enjoyed all the dishes! Our waiter informed us that the dinner menu is different from lunch time so we will be back to try out the dinner version.

Walking into Restaurant Ixchel felt like stepping into Mexico itself. The vibrant ambiance and the warm welcome from the receptionist immediately set the stage for an incredible evening. From the start, we were taken care of by Manager Raffaele, who made sure every moment was special. Mook, Samia, and Sharath—were amazing, providing attentive service and fantastic recommendations throughout the night. The food was simply outstanding. Every dish was crafted with care, and I especially loved the prawns, the short ribs, and the heavenly tres leches dessert. The tres leches was beyond anything I’ve ever tasted—rich, moist, and unforgettable. Kudos to the Chef for their exceptional work! The cocktails were another highlight of the evening. Thanks to Damini and Tj, I experienced some of the best drinks I’ve ever had. Their expertise and recommendations truly elevated the night, leaving me speechless. What made this evening even more special was the surprise birthday celebration my friends had planned. The personalized birthday plate was a heartwarming touch that made the experience feel truly unique and unforgettable. Restaurant Ixchel offers more than just a meal; it’s an experience like no other. The combination of exceptional service, exquisite food, and a magical ambiance made my night unforgettable. A beautiful restaurant with a vibrant atmosphere that was authentic and welcoming - all of the staff were incredible and great at their jobs. Service was outstanding! The cocktails and food are absolutely divine. The steak and the short rib are some of the best i’ve ever had. 10/10 experience i will definitely be returning!

Wow, this place is amazing!!! I couldn't recommend it more - definitely one of my new favourite spots in London! The food was exquisite, sooo delicious!! There was something for everyone - lots of vegetarian options too. The salsa was actually super spicy, hard to find these days - so yummm! The wine was incredible too. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I'd have to say the best part is the ambiance - I couldn't get enough of the decor!!!

it was a really enjoyable experience. The food was honestly very good — packed with flavour and beautifully presented. I especially liked how fresh everything tasted. The dishes had that balance of authentic Mexican roots with a more modern, upscale twist. I really really enjoyed the food and staff service Prem … I hope next time when I will come give me same comfortable dining experience. I am very happy with your service and food 😊.

Ixchel feels relaxed but polished, with flavours that actually stand out. The crab tostadas were bright and fresh, and the short rib tacos had real depth without being heavy. Guacamole was properly seasoned, not an afterthought. Cocktails lean mezcal-forward and well balanced. A solid spot for modern Mexican when you want something a bit more refined.

Very good Mexican food in London. Probably one of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to in London. Service was also excellent.

The place is beautiful, but we were a bit disappointed with the food to be honest, specially in that price range. It doesn’t live up to our expectations, and we love Mexican food. Guacamole was nice, beef tacos… very nice, but the pork tacos were a bit bland. And the potatoes were not evenly cooked, some were good, some not so good… We definitely prefer other Mexican restaurants like Cavita for example, it’s better in our opinion.

I had a fantastic experience at Ixchel London! Rishabh, our waiter, gave us exceptional service from start to finish. His food and drink recommendations were spot on and really elevated our meal. Everything we tried was delicious, and his friendly, attentive approach made the evening even better. Highly recommend both the restaurant and asking for Rishabh if you visit!

Beautifully designed restaurant. The atmosphere is so relaxed and calm. The staff are very friendly and have good sense of humour. The most of the food that we ordered were very tasty that it didn’t need anything to be added to it and that’s sign of perfect cooking. If the torta in the seafood torta wasn’t dry I would have given 5 stars, it needed more sauce. I highly recommend it.

Great atmosphere and design! We tried 4 cocktails from the menu and loved all of them. The food was ok and the service was disappointing, had to ask for all items a few times. Ordered around 10 items for the table and of all positions, I would go for Tacos and quesadilla.

Very nice atmosphere for lunch. Very nice and welcoming staff. Had the guacamole, pork belly tacos and the lobster bun (a good spicy bite). All were very good. The cucumber-jalapeño margarita was really good and refreshing. The only downside is the price which was high

Lovely interior design and layout. Cloakroom at no extra charge is also really great. Every server was polite but I'd like to specially shout out Osman, who made our night memorable with his outstanding service. Osman made us feel comfortable and went out of his way to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. I liked the prawn tempura, the stone bass was nice but would've been great to have a little more kick to it that you would expect at a Mexican restaurant. I think the stairs are quite unsafe with the rope handles especially if you are wearing heels so I would be careful of that. Overall had a good time with friends, thank you Ixchel.

Booked to celebrate a friends birthday. I was impressed with the decor as soon as I walked in! Also the ambiance was great. The food was average, however the drinks were really good and they had a variety of choices. If you love tequila then I would recommend having drinks here. During our dining experience we were told we needed to leave on 3 separate occasions as they needed the table for the next reservation, highly would have appreciated if they had given us a polite reminder 15 mins before. The process felt so rushed and uncomfortable for us. We were told to go to the bar to finish our dessert and drinks. No one showed us where to sit and was approached by a member of staff telling us that the table was reserved and we needed to move again!!! At that point we felt so unwelcomed and left without finishing our dessert! The unorganised service definitely left a bad impression.

Went to Ixchel, a fine dining Mexican restaurant in Chelsea, for my wife’s birthday. Beautiful ambience, very bougie feel, and the service was excellent. That said, the food didn’t quite match the price point. You’re mainly paying for the setting here. The Short Rib was pretty great, but everything else wasn't as memorable. Nice experience overall, but wouldn’t rush back for the food alone.

The food was average - had the short rib, crab tacos and the chicken. It’s a pricey meal, not sure I was that impressed to return. The hibiscus shrub drink was refreshing though!

Decoration and atmosphere is nice. The food wasn’t that great, the tacos were toasted which I don’t think is very authentic also they weren’t corn tortillas. The staff were a bit strange in how they treated us, not the best customer service. They also charged us one extra still water which if we haven’t looked at the bill, we would have been missed and overcharged. They happily removed it from the bill but not the best experience. Also, portions are very small for the amount you pay!

The food was OK but lacking the Mexican flavours I'd been looking forward to - the prices for the portion size and authenticity felt a bit emperor's new clothes. Pork tacos were disappointing, as was the queso. Drinks were nice but also quite expensive, even for this part of london (peach spicy margarita was very tasty). Service was fine, but really nothing special. Beautifully designed restaurant but lacked substance in the food. It was fine but I don't think I'll visit again

The architecture of this place is incredible! A truly beautiful restaurant. The restaurant is quite dark, trying to set a mood. The problem is that it's too dark, so people around me had to use their cellphone lights to read the menu and that kind of ruined the mood. Service was fine. They didn't talk a lot about the menu or seemed particularly excited, but it wasn't bad either. Food was really mediocre. We had 3 starters, main and 2 desserts and nothing stood out. Overall, I don't think it's worth the visit. Specially given the price (160 pounds for 2 with a drink each).

While the interior and vibe of the restaurant is great, the food is a mixed bag. The small plates were decent, but the rest was extremely limited on flavour. I perhaps wouldn't have minded as much, but being a more expensive restaurant, the bill did not reflect the quality of food. Drinks were also heavily watered down with too many ice cubes, which likely impacted the taste too.

Restaurant with outstanding venue, as well as food very well presented. Slightly expensive considering the reduced size of the plates. During weekdays they have weekday menu, however, either the whole table must opt for daily menu or a la carte, which I found surprising. Service is polite but not entirely attentive /checking whether customers need anything else.

Nice place very disappointed about the service specially when asking for tortillas we were 4 people ordered 3 plates to share 3 required tortillas, the amount that came in the first round was 6 pieces “included” and then every time we asked for was 4 and needed to wait obviously all got cold which was very disappointing and then we ended up paying for each 4 tortillas £3. I don’t mind paying but every time and for each round to have a cold meal I don’t think is good enough.

Really disappointing experience. I chose Ixchel for dinner for a night with family visiting from overseas. I made the reservation in person and was told there were two tables available on the night in question, one upstairs and one downstairs in front of the dj booth. I explained I wanted a buzzy vibe and was told there would be live music downstairs that night so chose the table downstairs. Disappointingly, there was no live music, or any real vibe to be honest. Service was really very poor and slow. Drinks ordered were forgotten, or took forever to come, dirty plates left on our table for far too long etc. Food was average at best. Really tiny portions and far too expensive for what you get. We had originally planned to stay for drinks after dinner but we couldn’t get out of there soon enough and went elsewhere for drinks afterwards. I was actually embarrassed I had gotten it so wrong for my visitors evening. Definitely not somewhere to go for a special evening
