Gorgeous service and friendly staff, chatted about the restaurant’s renovation, food explanations, celebrations of my meal. The Goring egg drumkilbo was stunning, and learnt that it was the favorite dish of Queen Elizabeth. The scallops and duck were cooked absolutely right. Their textures were perfect. The chestnut cream with blackcurrant jelly was too sour to me. And felt like the strong taste of sour jelly dominated the taste of delicious chestnut cream, which the chestnut cream itself was great. The overall experience was amazing. Not surprised this is with Michelin distinction. Happy to visit again.
I enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal here at the Michelin-starred restaurant. The crab, lobster and caviar starter was delicious and light. The main of beef Wellington was perfectly cooked and cut at the table. It was absolutely amazing! The chocolate and mango dessert was beautiful! It was a great dining experience although the room lacked atmosphere as it was very quiet and no music was playing. I wasn't bothered about that and would highly recommend it!
When many people say to me, “British food is so bland!” I would like to point you towards: “The Goring,” where they’re systematically changing the narrative one authentic British dish at a time. I had the Cotswold Truffle Chicken which was juicy and tender with a lovely seasoned gravy and a yummy corn, truffle tartlet (dreamy & creamy)! The duck was off of the charts. The side of duck leg was mouth watering and tender! I would have loved a bit more crispness on the duck fat pieces but overall completely satisfied! Dessert was a work of art. If you want true British cuisine served old school with all the bells and whistles, this is your must Reserve stop when in London! 🥰
We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with a splendid lunch with friends - everything was great. The wine, service, food and presentation, without a single problem. The folk of the Goring are lovely. Thank you Goring and keep up the good work.
Food was good, but the service was fantastic. The staff were so attentive and really helpful splitting the bill and ensuring I was able to catch my train. Such a lovely experience!
Great experience here. Service was fab and very personal from start to finish. They didn’t forget a thing. There’s a lovely ambience to the restaurant and because of this, it is not noticeable that there is no music. I loved that. As for the food, brilliant! Starting off with caviar (which rookie error, came before our bread 😳) , plenty of trimmings for the caviar. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Bellinis, they were very bready borderline stale. Then my main was outstanding, be it much larger than I expected ! In fact it was huge! I had the duck which came with a beautiful cherry potato and duck confit which was to die for. The lobster omelette is very creamy and rich , it also comes with chips and the lobster tail with salad. Again massive portion! We shared a generous side of peas which lacked pancetta. For dessert we shared a delicious chocolate and mango mousse , yum!! Overall I loved my experience here , felt like a proper traditional British restaurant. Well worth dressing up to come here. Delicious food and with the size of the portions it’s also great value, about £125pp. I must say the duck was delicious!!
Super attentive and kind people with a very relaxed atmosphere. Foods are served in the exact pace as you eat them so there’s no significant delay at all. Dishes were boasting various techniques and origins of culture, and they were plated with excellence. Taste was also superb where you can feel the fresh ingredients used.
We decided to celebrate my birthday with a royal celebration at the Goring Hotel. If it's good enough for William and Kate it's certainly good enough for me. As a matter of fact Kate loves it here so much it is where she stayed the night before her wedding. We opted to go for all their signature offerings. Our cuisine began with the Gorings egg Drumkilmo which consisted of lobster ,aged caviar and roasted tomato. OMG!! Main course was their famous Beef Wellington with slow cooked short rib with a pickled horseradish. To say this beef melted on your palate would be an understatement . And of course it was mandatory to save room for their ever popular Rum Baba flambé with Lemongrass crème . Needless to say I was immediately transported into a decadent food coma but sooo worth it! Claudio our server made us feel special and the rest of the staff is very attentive to detail. I left feeling like I had been treated like a Princess! 👑💕
My dining experience at The Goring Dining Room was nothing short of exceptional, capturing the elegance and warmth of classic British hospitality. From the moment I sat down, the atmosphere wrapped me in a sense of refined comfort—soft lighting, plush interiors, and attentive service that made every course feel personal and deliberate. The tea presented in an ornate silver pot delivered a rich aroma, pairing beautifully with the relaxed start of the meal, while the champagne added a celebratory sparkle that set the tone for an unforgettable lunch. Each dish showcased thoughtful craftsmanship. The amuse-bouche was a delightful introduction—crispy on the outside and delicate within—hinting at the chef’s ability to balance texture and flavor. The house bread, accompanied by beautifully sculpted butter, was rustic yet elegant, truly emphasizing the importance of simple, quality ingredients. The seafood dishes were especially memorable: the crab presentation was whimsical yet sophisticated, served in its intricate shell-like vessel, and the lobster and caviar plate displayed a harmony of briny freshness and luxurious richness. The highlight of the meal was the Beef Wellington—perfectly rosy at the center, encased in a golden, buttery pastry that melted effortlessly. Paired with velvety jus and roasted sides, it was a masterclass in comfort elevated to fine dining. Desserts offered a graceful conclusion: the sorbet and chocolate ice cream provided subtle sweetness, while the handmade chocolates—stamped with The Goring’s seal—were indulgent little treasures that captured the restaurant’s signature charm. The entire experience felt like an intimate celebration: delicious food, gracious service, and an ambiance that honors tradition without sacrificing creativity. The Goring Dining Room stands among London’s finest, and I would gladly return for another unforgettable meal.
Really great experience at the Goring Dining room. We celebrated my partner's birthday and every detail had been considered. The staff were very friendly and approachable, we were made to feel very welcome and the food was exceptional. Perfect place to celebrate something special or as a treat.
Birthday Dinner at Coring – A Wonderful Experience I took my wife to Coring for her birthday dinner, and it was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome and special. The atmosphere was warm and elegant, just right for a celebration. The food was excellent – beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly made with care. Every dish felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. We especially enjoyed the attention to detail and the balance of tastes throughout the meal. The service was outstanding, attentive without being intrusive, which made the whole evening very relaxing. My wife was truly delighted, and it made her birthday memorable. If you are in London, Coring is definitely a must-try restaurant for a special occasion or simply for a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommended!
I’ve visited The Goring Dining Room several times in the past, but this was my first visit since its interior revamp around 18 months ago. The restaurant is located on the ground floor, just a short walk from the entrance. The refreshed décor is elegant and striking—green and white wallpaper, grand chandelier-style light fittings, and deep green curtains set the tone. Mirrors are framed with small silhouette portraits and miniature paintings, while a red-and-white floral carpet grounds the space. The seating design is particularly attractive, with semicircular booths in a rich red fabric at the centre, surrounded by tables around the periphery. The food was equally impressive. The bread was excellent with butter (though I wasn’t a fan of the marmite butter). The amuse-bouche was a pleasant start. For starters, the trout tartare with cucumber was fresh, light, and beautifully balanced. The watercress velouté, served with a large cheese ravioli, was also superb. For mains, the leg of partridge was presented dramatically, complete with the leg. The meat itself was tender, paired with a rich jus, smooth purée, and grilled onion. The sole dish was delicately plated, with the bone running through the centre. The flavour was subtle yet refined, enhanced by a lovely sauce and sweet potato purée. Desserts were a highlight. The sassi baba came flambéed with Calvados—an impressive presentation and equally delightful taste. The “cloud” dessert, with lemon sponge and hazelnuts at the base, was good though less memorable than the baba. Service throughout was impeccable—professional yet warm, attentive without being intrusive. With its new interior, the dining room feels even more elevated. The set lunch menu (two or three courses) offers excellent value and makes for a memorable dining experience.
We had an absolutely wonderful lunch here, celebrating our anniversary. The heirloom tomatoes were a perfect starter on a hot day. I had the truffle-stuffed chicken, which was fabulous!! The cured egg yolk was the perfect umami complement to the hen of the woods' tartlet. My husband had the Sunday roast, which came with a generous assortment of sides. Dessert was also lovely. We really appreciated the gestures by the team to make our anniversary memorable! Special thanks to David, who gave us some fantastic suggestions about the menu, and also told us all about the history of The Goring and showed us some special hidden nuances of the dining room! We hope we'll have an opportunity to come back!!
The doorman, impeccably dressed and brimming with old-world charm, opened the grand doors with a smile that felt as though he had been waiting just for us. As we stepped inside, it was as if the spirit of Christmas itself had taken up residence in the lobby. A magnificent tree glittered, and garlands of greenery draped the entrance in holiday magic. Tea was served in the beautiful Veranda, a room that looks out onto the private garden—a patch of winter greenery that feels like a secret kept from the bustle of the city. Champagne arrived first, a necessary indulgence for a holiday tea (in my opinion), followed by a delightful little amuse-bouche. The tea menu, with its traditional blends and herbal infusions, felt like a chapter from a book of London’s finest traditions. The sandwiches, delicate creations with classic fillings, spoke of tradition but whispered a delicious twist of modernity. The scones, accompanied by pots of cream and jam, were perfectly presented on beautiful china. But the pastries were the crown jewels—each one a tiny masterpiece, sweet and lovely, the perfect holiday indulgence. What truly set The Goring’s holiday high tea apart, though, was its atmosphere. The staff seemed to anticipate our needs without intruding. The pace was unhurried, and the experience felt like something out of a Hallmark Christmas movie or a bygone era. If you’re looking for something truly special, something both elegant and comforting, you’ll find it here. It’s a place where time slows, and for a moment, you are entirely present, savoring the grace and charm of it all.
The food was nice and beautifully presented. The Dining Room interior was gorgeous. I hesitated to give all three categories full marks as it felt rushed towards the end when they presented the bill and came shortly with the payment machine when I did not even finish half of the tea after dinner. I asked if they needed the table back right away, saying that I hadn't finished my tea yet. The server confirmed they did not require me to return the table by a certain time and he could come back for payment later, but I paid anyway since he had the card machine ready. I guess it was only a minor miscommunication as other diners seemed to be hotel guests charging to their room, so the server got an order to present me with the bill after the tea order was served. Something funny with their internal communication. The starter was perfect in every aspect. For the main, the sauce served at the table would be better not to be poured directly on the food, i.e. perferred to be served as a dipping sauce on the plate or separately, as the sauce was rather intense and salty when the monkfish was sufficiently seasoned already. Dessert was a good show with flame, taste was just OK. Location was pretty central in London, close to Victoria Station. Overall, very good value for money. Would still stick with 5 stars despite some hippcups that were rectified on the spot.
I’ve visited the dining room yesterday where I had my birthday dinner. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Me and my fiancée felt comfortable from the beginning of our visit. As for the food I can tell that it was excellent and tasty. Also if you love the wine, the wine list is pretty long with remarkable quality wines
What's not to love about delicious food served in a beautiful dining room? That descibes Goring Dining Room, which is inside the Goring Hotel in London. We had a wonderful dinner here. The dining room reminds me of New Orleans, very colorful and full of flowered drapes and old pictures. With the jazz playing in the background, it felt rather old-fashioned. The food, however, is not!! We started with cocktails. I had the Goring gin on ice, and my husband had a manhattan. They served a lovely amuse bouche with them. I love those little surprises. I had the scallop first course, which was delicious. They were served with peas, broad beans, and a smoked butter sauce. Yum! And the plating was really beautiful. My husband had the eggs, crab, caviar, and lobster first course. Again, beautifully plated, and absolutely scrumptious! We both had the lamb, which was cooked perfectly. It was served with apricot, morels, eggplant, and a meat pie!! Sensational! We also ordered the truffles mashed potatoes, but we did not need them at all. The desserts were equally wonderful. I had the clotted cream, lemon curd, and yogurt which got some crunch from shards of meringue. It was light and fresh! My husband had the rice pudding with cherries. Then they brought out tiny sweets. I love that! What a fantastic meal! The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere calm and sedated. I highly recommend you dine here!
Excellent food and service. Really worth a visit. Staff was great with kids as well.
The girole risotto was the absolute best I've ever had. Lovely meal from start to finish. The staff were all wonderful, and it had that lovely mix of fine dining but with a really nice relaxing atmosphere, zero stuffiness. Delightful.
Amazing experience! Really liked my server’s recommendations! He’s very knowledgeable and attentive. Sorry I forgot his name (Young gentleman with a bit of French accent?) The second server however didn’t really mention much about the drink he recommended to me. I didn’t know there’s a strong coffee flavor which I didn’t really enjoy. But overall a fantastic experience here:) loved every moment!
We received some of the greatest service we've ever visited in the UK. The food was excellent, and if you want to experience British Classic Excellence, I would recommend visiting. This is a place where the value of 1 Michelin star shines.
Beautiful food served here, served by very attentive and knowledgeable staff. The dining room is stunning. Would recommend the beef wellington, the amount of food you get is more than you expect.
Love it! One of the best places in London! Service: amazing! Elegant place, food - wow. Had beef and desserts. Additional bonus for the non alcoholic cocktails! Great price/value.
Exceptional staff and exquisite food! From the doorman to the sommelier, everyone was incredibly polished, polite and professional. The dining experience was unparalleled and the food was quite literally the best I've ever had! Highly recommended!
Simply the best! We wanted a special night out and the Goring exceeded our expectations. Antoine and james were amazing along with all the rest of the wonderful staff.. Definitely a treat! Service and food was impeccable.
Most amazing dining experience! A regular of mine, the staff remember exactly your requirements. Jean Baptiste is by far the best sommelier in London in my opinion. With his real passion being old world wine, he has a unique flair for new world and different wines, the last time i enjoyed a wine from Uraguay! Richard Galli never ceases to impress, this time i had the duck for the first time, which was incredible. So succulent, yet with a crisp top, and perfect souffle on the side. As always with the Goring, the traditional dishes are always available, and one would highly recommend the risotto as a starter. Davide Isabella who manages the Dining room has always been hospitable and him and his staff are a credit to the Hotel.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner here. The food and wine was delicious and the dining room is beautiful with lovely staff.
Lovely ambiance, excellent service, and classic British dishes. Kids meal is available too!
The food was excellent – beautifully presented, full of flavour, and clearly made with care. Every dish felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. We especially enjoyed the attention to detail and the balance of tastes throughout the meal.
A wonderful afternoon ‘high’ tea. We’ve had some fantastic high teas around the world and The Goring is outstanding! Everything is abundant - they replenish anything (most only replenish sandwiches at most). The quality was great - a couple of sandwiches weren’t quite to our taste, but all flavours shone through. The teas were lovely. The service was perfectly balanced - polite, attentive, but not intrusive. The atmosphere was decadent but not overtly opulent (in my mind). We loved it.
This is a very good restaurant in a lovely setting in the centre of town. There’s a good bar with a conservatory and garden which is a real treat in London. Service is good and the food is generously portioned. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced for the location. Overall a great experience for a special dinner
Decor rather old style (unlike beautiful garden restaurant where fantastic tea is served) but service is impeccable and food really excellent - the gravy for the Sunday roast took three days to prepare and one can really taste it! The vegetables were all not great but a beautiful Bordeaux was recommended by Sommelière, the risotto starter was super - all really special
Quite a good restaurant. Went for lunch. The seafood salad with a quail egg had lots of fresh sweet crab meat in it with diced jelly and micro greens. Really enjoyed that. Lamb chop was accompanied by brains fried in batter, and a piece of braced lamb belly. Salt Marsh lamb. Nice. But not excellent. Service is polite but slow.
So it’s really top notch service and atmosphere. The drink also delicious. I do feel seasoning is uneven though everything else is fantastic. Love the experience
Dined in feeling really stressed after losing my luggage at the airport. The food was good, the hostess was exceptionally nice and professional. I will give her five star for her service. Overall, it was a good dining experience, but I'm not happy that I asked the waiter to take a picture of my husband and me, and the photos turned out so blurred. We're on vacation and want to have some decent photos. It's just that the waiter didn't seem to care at all. I find it a bit rude; if he wasn't in the mood to take a picture, he should have politely declined or at least said, 'I'm sorry, I'm not good at taking pictures” (attaching the blurred pic because I still can’t get over it 😡)
The food wasn't anything special, the staff were a bit reserved - but, the waiters were really nice! The decor was lovely, reminds me of a traditional Town House.
Started strong - ended poorly. Service once seated was decent. However - as other’s have flagged the bill took ages. What’s worse was that they gave us the wrong bill - wrong table, head count server altogether. Not sure how you missed that? First time in my life that I’ve been given the wrong bill - let alone at this supposedly prestigious institution. If you think that’s the end you’re wrong. When I flagged a staff to correct it - they were already primed to say “my colleague will be with you with the machine” before I corrected them that the wrong bill was presented - alas then said waiter scuffled away sheepishly. The maitre’d that ultimately brought us the card machine had zero ounce of professionalism. Instead of apologizing - took a rather rude tone and chided that “she was doing her best” and that she’ll grab her manager as if that was some sort of threat. Of course no manger came around and of course we didn’t stick around given how late it was. Hardly think this place is worthy of its Michelin * or Royal Warrant. Food was cheap though so that’s a plus. Now that’s out of the way - let’s talk food. Starters - duck liver was bland and repulsive to the eye. The accompanying brioche was also overtly sweet and masked any ounce of umami from the pate. Heritage tomato again - also bland. Their solution to this one dimensional dish was to serve the same ingredient in 3 ways - spoiler it didn’t help. Partner only got this because they supposedly sold out of oyster at 8pm (pretty poor planning if you ask me). Egg with caviar/lobster was decent - but let’s face it, it’s basically a dish hiding behind the ingredients. On the mains - lobster omelette was lovely - no complaints. Duck and venison both good value for money. Doesn’t expect Dinner by Heston standard though. Deserts - fig tart was inedible - bitterness overwhelmed dish. Petit fours basically tasted like your local off license chocolate - didn’t even finish. A nice little touch was the birthday card and cake for partner. Ambience - very old and outdated decor (it fails to capture the timeless essence of say the Ritz or Dorchester). Music was bizarre - they were playing techno-jazz music with heavy edm beats. Mind you the average guest was on the elderly side - I don’t think playing such music makes you modern. Overall if this is meant to be your introductory place to the London fine dining scene I would say it’s possible (given very competitive price point), but if you’ve started your journey of luxury elsewhere, one would be very disappointed with the Goring Dining Room. Here’s to hoping they redeem themselves one day. Until then - I shall be spending my money elsewhere!!
We had Champagne Afternoon tea with my family. The service was impeccable but value wise it was a real disappointment. The standard of sandwiches and cakes did not warrant the £95 price tag! The cucumber sandwiches in particular were really poor. The cucumber had no crispness to it and it in fact had made the bread extremely soggy
We were really excited to go here which is what was really sad. What was actually bad was the service. Imagine paying 40+ for a main ! Only for the waiters to be horribly slow in reaction, we had to ask multiple times for multiple things. To cap it all off, it was my friend’s birthday and while he was about to blow the candles they HAD THE AUDACITY TO STAND THERE AND MAKE HIM PAY FOR THE BILL. Woke up the next morning with food poisoning… see this as a warning please!
