An excellent place for brunch. I can't even count how many times I have already been here and both service and food has always been excellent. I am especially a fan of the spicy eggs & hash browns with a good squeeze of Sriracha sauce. The decor of the place is modern but rather 'normal' and not as exceptional as its food.
Great spot for brunch just off Covent Garden. Excellent selection of foods and drinks and with its New Zealand origins it offers great flat white coffee. The restaurant is well set out and ideal for meeting with friends for dinner or brunch at the bar. There is even a good selection of the daily newspapers to keep you occupied whilst you wait. The staff, when I have visited have always been very friendly and welcoming.
Pleasant atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. A great place for breakfast or a Sunday brunch. I liked the polenta - crunchy goodness brilliantly complemented by the carrots and coriander. Prices are reasonable for the location and popularity of the place.
Perfect dessert "Dark chocolate & Aleppo chilli fondant, malt ice cream", still can't forget it. Overall experience was very nice, didn't expect much. Great place for a quick eat and delicious desert without taking off the jacket and drinking coffee.
This is by far the best restaurant in Seven Dials. The menu is fabulously easy to read and with amazing dishes all around. Most of the dishes are tapas sized and the mozzarella di bufalo with dates as well as the lentil pockets with pomegranate syrup are the best things I have eaten in years (and I am an excellent cook). So come to this restaurant to challenge your tastebuds and your tolerance for changing your palette.
Came on a Saturday for brunch and were told the wait was more than an hour. Decided to come back on Monday when it was much calmer. I was seriously blown away by the turkish eggs - such an incredible mash up of flavours. Also try the half/half granola ! Coffee was ok - try Monmouth just down the street instead.
I've only been here for breakfast - but what a breakfast. From more traditional pastries to turkish yoghurt, Kopapa offers much more than the usual morning fare. Coffee is great, so it's not surprising that the place is pack, even in the morning. Great way to set up your day!
Have been twice, both times i've had the chorizo hash and it's impeccable, probably my favourite brunch dish in London. If I go again, i'm going to order then same again. And so on.
Lovely little cafe/restaurant in a lovely location. Of course, we had to wait, but I feel that 20minutes at 1pm on Sunday is very reasonable and the food was worth it. The Turkish eggs were amazing! I'd definitely go back, just for them!
Very good fusion cusine..a lot of similarities with the Lebanese cuisine..the roast lamb is amazing..the atmosphere is nice and the service is good.
A wonderful breakfast. The Turkish eggs are exquisite! As is everything else on the menu to be honest. Not cheap but not ridiculous.
Great, tasty tapas at reasonable prices. Good Xmas cocktail menu too. Recommend the tiger prawn scotch egg.
Monmouth coffee served here #winning Kapopo is a small kiwi restaurant perfect for breakfast lunch or dinner. Always very busy and it can be difficult to get a booking during lunch and evenings.
Always full on the weekend. Your best chance of getting a table is morning brunch during the week. Great Monmouth coffee.
Great place for brunch, give the Turkish eggs a go and couple with a glass of their mixed juice.
Good food and fantastic friendly service, just popped on the off chance for pre-theatre dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Recommended.
Delicious and unique food. Superb fusion cuisine. Thumbs up for a tasty vegetarian options
Best Brunch Ever! Go for the Turkish Eggs straight from Istanbul..
Had food here with my partner before a theatre show and was a good experience. No waiting for a table on arrival as we had booked beforehand. Staff were very friendly. Expect to get familiar with the people on the table next to you as things are quite tightly packed but not a big issue. Good selection on the menus for all tastes and the express set menu for theatres goers looked good value. Slight mixup with a side dish being forgotten but otherwise a good experience.
Buzzing brunch spot with great food but a bit of an assembly line. The turkish eggs were excellent and it has great monmouth coffee. The place is packed and the service is quick but it does feel like they are trying to turn tables. Recommend for a power brunch then wandering to another spot in the area to linger.
Mmmm.. I've wanted to come to this easygoing brunch spot for ages, and I'm glad I waited for a weekday breakfast meeting to do so as I can imagine it gets very busy. My chorizo hash was delicious and I chose to order it with a side of roasted tomatoes - a good idea since there were no veggies in my dish! For coffee and both dishes, it was £14 - a little pricey but what else do you expect in Covent Garden?
I had the Turkish eggs here - whipped yoghurt, poached eggs, chilli butter - and it was delicious, although hard to mess up. The coffee is really good too. Atmosphere is a bit formal for brunch, and it's not the cheapest place around. But for morning food in Covent Garden I'd still recommend it.
After much planning, finally nabbed a table for two to Brunch. Arrived on time and saw a queue, luckily after quickly checking that the queue'ers didn't have a booking, I walked in and our table was almost ready. What we noticed straight away was the noise. It is just so loud in there, due to the decor and lack of sound cushioning. We ordered quickly. We both ordered the Turkish Eggs and it's basically unlike any eggs I have ever had. It was delicious but it was extremely fattening (full fat (greek) yoghurt) and spiced butter. The yolks of the poached eggs were still runny but it wasn't burning hot - warm, not cold. Would prefer warmer. We ate and quickly got out of there, as we couldn't deal with the noise levels and the dessert options did not pique our interests. However the Turkish Eggs were worth it and that's what we were essentially there for and got.
I visited Kopapa for brunch during the week, which felt like a bit of a treat because I can imagine it's heaving at the weekends (and much harder to book a table). Staff weren't the most attentive but the breakfast menu was pretty appealing and my Turkish eggs were interestingly different. If you're in the area, it's not a bad choice. Grab a seat by the window so that you can watch the people (and dogs) of Covent Garden go by.
The food was very creative, the service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was perfect. The dishes were small, though, for how much you were paying. But even though we had to order a lot more than we thought, we still came out feeling like we got a good deal for a high-end restaurant.
Got the Turkish Eggs as it was the most popular breakfast dish. It tasted great. Free wifi and nice service. Just a little pricey; even for London.
Go here sometimes for team breakfasts. They're friendly and pretty efficient even with a sizeable group. It's not cheap for breakfast and most of the food is pretty calorific (although there are some healthy options, they're pretty boring), but it is all very tasty. Bit cheeky that if you want something akin to a full English you end up adding bits and pieces (black pudding separately), which gets to twenty quid very easily.
Chef Peter Gordon's Kopapa is an all round great modern food restaurant by Covent Garden. Great for pre-theatre meals and amazing weekend brunches, served with excellent Monmouth coffee or special cocktails. The experience isn't cheap and it is advisable to book your place in advance!
Had the pork belly noodle bowl -- delicious broth! Prompt service, terrific espresso. You're paying Covent Garden prices, but a nice all-day lunch is worth the expense.
Very relaxing atmosphere, comforting lighting and excellent food. Polite waiter/waitress. The starter, a salmon salad dish was excellent. Would definitely recommend the apple crumble as well.
This is the first time I’ve been to this New Zealand restaurant just off Covent Garden. According to their website, Kopapa a Maori word for ‘a gathering, to be crowded, and a building to store food in’. Generally I try to avoid going to this part of London around the weekends because it is way too busy and full of tourists. However, this restaurant was recommended so I wanted to try it out. The location is a bit tucked away from the main Covent Garden area which frankly was a relief. This was a Friday night and so not only does the normal tourist crowd congregate in the West End to see shows, Friday night in London is also the invite for general drunkeness. It is quite a small restaurant. It has some tables outside. I can’t tell if they are there to evoke the spirit of street side dining, or to make up for the small space inside. In my mind’s eye I always love the idea of these street side tables. However, I no longer find the idea of sitting outside where people are wandering right next to you, and traffic belching their exhausts, appealing. Each to their own I suppose. As I mentioned previously, the restaurant is quite small. However, the use of space is great and although the tables are close, it is not tight fitting where you are constantly bumping into the table behind/next to you. The atmosphere on the night I went was really great (but this sort of thing does depend on the crowd). I like a lively place without too much shouting and this fit the bill exactly. It was a bit noisy, but in a friendly chatty sort of way. Having said that, the atmosphere might have had something to do with the waiting staff who were superb. Very attentive, but not overbearing. This is a skill that I’m sure can be taught, but can’t be easy. The wait staff need to judge if a table is catching up before perusing the menu or whether they want to order quickly. Unfortunately I was in the first group. The solution to taking so much time deciding what to eat … drink!!! Unfortunately I didn’t take photos of all my drinks, but I started with a Chinese Emperor. The Chinese Emperor [Pear & ginger jam, fresh apple, ginger liqueur & Portobello Road gin shaken with a bit of citrus, served with crystallised ginger] which was really delicious — difficult to describe but a tasty and refreshing drink. A great way to start a meal. I then moved on to the Merlot from Wakefield ‘Promised Land’, Clare Valley. Unfortunately I then made the decision to for a desert wine — error. It was way to sweet. To go with the desert. No way. My bad. Anyway, onto the rest of the meal. We selected from a range of small eats as well as main courses to try different dishes. Small eats Marinated squid, samphire, sweet & sour fennel, pickled lemon, Herb & edamame puree Pan fried scallops, sweet chilli sauce, creme fraiche Mains Herb crusted grey mullet, watermelon & samphire salad, polenta croutons, Aleppo chilli grenobloise sauce Salad of cold coconut-poached chicken breast, roasted butternut squash, feta, salsa verde, roasted tomatoes, rocket & crispy chickpeas Deserts Amaretto & marcona almond custard tart, caramelised black fig, pine & fir tree honey & Greek yoghurt Dark chocolate & Aleppo chilli fondant, malt ice cream But which of the dishes do I recommend? Actually this is a difficult question to answer. In particular I like the squid and the scallops, but the mains were also delicious. If I were to go back again I might skip the main courses all togther and just order a whole bunch of the smaller starters, which apparently they are perfectly happy with customer doing.
Nice food and good service, though a bit pricey. The soft shell crab and Turkish eggs were really good - if only it was a little cheaper I would definitely come back more!
Love the food. Inventive and skilled chefs. An ever changing experience worth paying a bit more for. Friendly staff. Great cocktails too. If you want a heap of food to fill your fat belly go to pub or something a five guys. This is not a tourist trap. I had the tuna and that was delicious and my wife had the salmon salad, which, contrary to other reviews which I'm sure were exaggerated, was a fine amount of fish and also delicious. I stole a taste.
Such great food! We went for brunch, definitely worth booking in advance. Would love to go back and try for lunch or dinner instead.
Nice environment for a chat. Good service but didn't receive the drink I had ordered. I had asked for a Flat White, but received a latte instead. I would still recommend as the latte was still very good!!
Good amd warm service, excellent food (Pork Chop, scallop and black cod), they were out of the wine I asked but had good substitute. Just a bir pricey.
Food is great, with the interesting twists you expect from Peter Gordon. Service slow - it's new so probably teething problems.
Quality tapas at a reasonable price. Trendy, yet quaint space with a nice bar and friendly (if a bit inattentive) staff.
Good food, loved the Turkish eggs. However it's not that we'll priced for its portions - the juice was average. My main issue is that seating and decor is not especially inspiring and it can feel a little too crowded in.
A nice little restaurant, right in the heart of Covent Garden, and as you'd expect can be very busy! The fusion food was delicious - we chose to share several small plates so that we could taste more than one dish. I thought it was a little bit pricey but worth it if you're after something different. The Mims (fresh cucumber martini) is delish!
This place has a lot to recommend it, which is why I'm going to seem very petty in my criticisms. The food has excellent flavours, and was maybe 95% perfect... it's just that that missing 5% seemed unnecessarily missed. It was very good and very tasty, and I would recommend it for going to again, but I don't rate it as highly as it's sister-branch in marylebone or Modern Pantry in Farringdon. What it boils down to is that if you're marketing and pricing your food as being particularly nice and that little bit more special, then I will hold it to a slightly higher standard. For example, I had the sweet-potato mashed with chorizo, fried eggs and sricha, and it was spicy, tasty, looked nice... except that the egg was slightly underdone. They'd obviously been working to that thing posh brunches do of trying to have a fried egg cooked without colouring (no browning or bubbles on the underside), so the white goes opaque and the yolk stays runny. In this case, the top had some uncooked (as in transparent) white. Not actually enough for me to send it back (they give you pretty strict timelimits for staying there and I didn't want to break them), but enough that I noticed it. The coffee was great in terms of preparation, but it was warm, not hot (the cup was hotter than the actual coffee). Perfectly fine to drink straight-away, but no good if you're going to be sipping it while finishing off a meal. Somebody else ordered a salad that comes with bacon on top and asked if they could swap out the bacon-- no joy. They could leave the bacon off, but not put anything else on instead (even the other toppings, like the grapes or walnuts, etc.). In that sense, it's not quite cheap enough for a cafe, but not quite careful or flexible enough for a restaurant. Worth going to, but not quite meeting the standards it sets itself, I think.
Good food and the Turkish eggs were undeniably great stuff but its pretty expensive stuff. Two portions of the egg, a bloody Mary and a Orange juice came in at £40. The atmosphere too is a tad on the formal side which felt at odds with the 'Brunch' menu. Would be nicer if it were slightly more relaxed.
Good quality food but a bit pricey. I ate the Turkish eggs and I found them a bit too rich...
My smoked salmon salad literally had 3 bites of salmon, that's it. Nice location and atmosphere, but total rip-off on food.
Great platters and small dishes make this an ideal venue for groups looking to share. Service can be slow.
Food is beautifully cooked in most dishes. I will give them that. But atmosphere and service will ruin your experience. Atmosphere: Tables too close to each other and the crowd Kopapa attracts seems to have no manners, for they speak too loudly. Service: Staff is slow, unhelpful and far from polite. Some of them seem to have a exaggerated sense of their importance, which I found amusing given this is a food joint and not Goldman Sachs or the Parliament. Kopapa is not exactly cheap. A three-course meal costs you around 40+ pounds. And for this range of price, I expect better service and atmosphere. Would not return.
Call the police! I've just been robbed! £7 for two eggs and two slices of toast..A new low for crazy London prices, more fool me for ordering it I guess. Been here before a few years ago and the menu hasn't changed. Worth avoiding, better places can be found in the area for brunch.
Yes the salmon salad is a ripoff. A mass of rocket with a splot of salmon, a few beans and a slice or two of radish. We did complain but got told "well that's the salad!". Typical tourist trap place. In fact so bad we went and ate somewhere else after. Sigh.
Food is lovely but extremely poor customer service. I made the error of leaving behind a very expensive publication - I telephoned the restaurant half an hour later only to be told that they throw out everything that is not deemed to be valuable. They were quite rude to me on the phone too so I won't be going back there again. So be warned make sure you have all of your possessions with you when you leave the restaurant otherwise it will probably be the last time you see it again.
This is a tourist place to go. Very pricey and not great food, but in the prime spot. Their review and webpage is fabulous, but actual food quality is disappointing. Lunch bil for two near £80 including drinks.
