Opinions de BKC - Biryani Kebab Chai - Soho London
I tried the Lamb Lakhnawi Biryani, served with yogurt, and it was genuinely enjoyable. The rice was fragrant and well layered with spices, and the lamb was tender and flavorful. The portion was satisfying and the balance of spices felt authentic without being overwhelming. The yogurt on the side complemented the biryani nicely and helped balance the richness of the dish. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food arrived quickly. A solid spot in Soho if you are craving a comforting biryani.
Absolutely loved Biryani Kebab and Chai! Hands down the best South Indian food I’ve had in London, especially the kebabs, which were perfectly spiced and full of flavor. The place has beautiful aesthetics, great music, and such a warm, welcoming vibe. The staff were super friendly and really looked after us. Overall, a fantastic experience — can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend if you're craving real South Indian flavors with a great atmosphere to match!
We had a lovely meal here while visiting London. Make a reservation, as the place is teeny tiny (holds maybe 25 total?). It was perfect for dinner between acts of the Harry Potter play! We sampled about 6 dishes between our group of 4, and all were delicious and delightful! Our server was helpful and friendly.
First time eating Indian food. Great experience Vidhi served us and was so helpful explaining all the different foods they offer. She gave us great selection and feel like we were able to really explore the cuisine. The spices are so so different from anything we had ever experienced. Definitely recommend. Some of are photos we dived In before we took, but you get it😁🥰
We loved BKC. It's small and cosy. Service is super and food was absolutely delicious. Having been in India the flavours transported me back there. Try a bit of everything for the best experience. There was an issue with the order but they did compensate and eventually we were so satisfied. Overall, we loved it and highly recommended!
Amazing food. This is our second time visiting BKC and first time to this branch. Do not get fooled by the size of the restaurant. Inside awaits mouthwatering dishes of Awadhi cuisines- perfectly made Kebabs, Chai and Biryani. The Kulfi Falooda and the Gajar ka Halwa were equally resplendent. The Galouti Kebabs were yummy and just melted in our mouths. The staffs were very welcoming and served with big smiles. Would very highly recommend this place and definitely coming back for more.
Discovering this hidden gem amidst the bustling streets of London was truly a delightful surprise. Despite its location, the atmosphere was incredibly cozy and relaxing. The manager, although I regrettably forgot his name, was an exceptional host. He was always accommodating and polite, ensuring that our experience was nothing short of wonderful. The food was simply incredible, with each dish expertly spiced and a true delight for the taste buds. This place has undoubtedly become my top choice for authentic cuisine in London. I look forward to returning soon. Thank you immensely for your hospitality; we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit and appreciate your warm welcome.
We had an amazing experience at this Indian restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious — rich in flavors, perfectly spiced, and truly authentic. The menu is very varied, with so many great options to choose from. Everything we tried was excellent. A must-try if you’re looking for real, high-quality Indian food. Highly recommended!
An amazing place! A must try in London for Indian food lovers. We had the daal makhni, veg biryani and for take away kathi rolls, what a bliss, so delicious and full of flavor. Also the service was great, very kind and accommodating. We came here for the birthday lunch of my partner and they gave him a free dessert - very kind of them. This is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in London.
I was here on a food tour and it was one of the stops. We had their samosas and it was delicious. The flavors were excellent and probably the best samosa I’ve had. The atmosphere is very welcoming and a great spot to visit. I’d definitely come back here again to try their other menu items.
Restaurant is nicely tucked away from the main road and was greeted warmly by staff upon entrance and had window seat without reservation. I went for 1 starter and 1 main which was the galouti kebab and the lamb biryani. Starter: was a small portion but the taste and freshness was really good not too spicy and the chutney really went well with it, just a shame about the portions. Main: lamb biryani is one of the most authentic tasty yet fresh served in a clay pot keeping it nice and hot. Food ratio with meat to rice was perfectly balance and the portion was enough for two. Last time I had this type of quality was 1 year ago at a wedding which shows they can make this kind of food really well. I fancied Chinese food but unfortunately most these restaurants were way to packed and busy this evening so I gambled for Indian food which payed off. So if you would like great quality Indian food in a quiet friendly location which is clean cozy and you will leave feeling full then I would highly recommend this place especially for their biryani which I will be back for.
Such an amazing Indian restaurant with genuinely great food. I really loved the paneer lababdar, naan, & gulab jamun, everything tasted spot on. The starters were also really good, especially the samosa chaat. The chicken biryani was impressive too. The staff were friendly & helpful, and even though it was busy, the food came out pretty quickly. The only downside is that the entrance and restaurant aren’t wheelchair accessible, which is something to keep in mind. Overall, a really solid place for good Indian food.
This was one of our favorite meals during our London trip. Everything was very flavorful with just the right amount of spice. Everyone from the staff was lovely and very attentive. The reservation process was easy. The place also was very beautiful and we enjoyed the vibe with some gentle music. We’d definitely recommend it and we will come back if we are in London again!
Chetna recommended this wonderful restaurant. My word, it did not disappoint. The staff were so kind and passionate about their cuisine and explained all the intricate nuances of each dish. What a feast of the senses and taste buds. I am in 7th heaven! The Biryani did not disappoint - the very best ever! The samosas were utterly delicious and most unusual. I had never had Chai before and, what have I missed? And The service was outstanding. Will be back for sure!
We had the galouti kebab, rumali roti and the Lakhnawi lamb biryani. The galouti kebab was a knock out of the park and is as bit Lakhnawi as possible. The biryani was good too. We also had the BKC G&T which was different, interesting and very refreshing. A must try. Tanmay who served us was warm, affable and went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. As a person with walking challenges, it was heartwarming to say the least. We are visiting again and having the galouti for sure
Not your average Indian restaurant, and so much better. Don’t go looking for Tikka masala or korma, these guys are from a particular region of India and have their own food. Listen to the waiter, he’ll recommend plates for you and also quantities. He got it spot on for us. Very recommendable and I will tell my friends and family to go there when they are in London. We knew it was going to be good upon arrival, many Indians eating there. That’s always a good sign!! Thanks for a wonderful evening and fantastic food!! See you when we’re next back in London!
I am from Lucknow and we don’t lie about our awadhi food. Awadhi chicken biryani and galauti kabab took me back home without British airway’s lousy service. Murgh Makhni was ok but again, we awadhi people won’t judge you for that. BKC’s manager was soo confident about his food when I told him that I am Lucknowi he suggested what I should order and their food didn’t disappoint. If you like awadhi food and you are missing home then don’t waste your time. Go and have their food. I was speechless and was nostalgic. Enjoy the journey. PS: I took two plates of Galauti’s for my wife back to Brussels
Me and my girlfriend recently had the pleasure of dining at Biryani Kebab Chai in Soho, and I can confidently say the experience was absolutely wonderful! The food was exceptional, bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. Our waiter was fantastic, offering excellent recommendations that truly elevated our meal. I particularly enjoyed the dishes he suggested—they were simply lovely. To top it off, the Kingfisher beer complemented the meal perfectly. I’m already planning my return visit and will definitely be making a reservation soon. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious food and great service. I just hope that by sharing my enthusiasm, I’m not shooting myself in the foot and making it too popular to get a table!
In a part of London saturated with Indian restaurants that often prioritise aesthetics over substance, Biryani Kebab Chai delivers where it matters most: flavour. The interiors are warm and contemporary, though the seating could be more accommodating, style slightly outweighs comfort here, particularly with the limited back support. Fortunately, the kitchen more than compensates. The chicken kebabs arrive first, three neatly presented pieces, glistening and aromatic. They are exceptionally tender, deeply spiced, and impressively juicy without being greasy. Each bite releases a well-balanced blend of warmth and savoury depth. The accompanying green chutney is pleasant but restrained; a brighter, sharper finish would elevate it. The pickled onions, however, feel underdeveloped, leaning heavily on raw vinegar rather than true pickling complexity. The Rumali roti is a standout. Unlike the overly refined, maida (white flour)-heavy versions common across London, this one appears to use a mixed flour blend, giving it texture and substance. Properly charred, well structured, and of ideal thickness and non sticky, it complements the kebabs beautifully and deserves particular praise. The lamb biryani continues the strong showing. Generous in portion, refreshingly so for Soho, it arrives fragrant and well-layered. The rice is distinct and well seasoned, while the lamb is tender and evenly distributed rather than hidden sparingly within. It is comforting yet refined. The only misstep lies in the curd/yogurt. Thick and somewhat one-dimensional, it feels more assembled than prepared, lacking the freshness and balance that a thoughtfully made yoghurt accompaniment should bring to a biryani of this quality. Biryanis are served with Mirchi ka salan/raita. These need to be liquid and runny in nature, both qualities missing in what we were served. Overall, Biryani Kebab Chai is confident where it counts. Minor refinements in the accompaniments and improved seating would push it further, but the core cooking is assured, flavour-forward, and satisfying. Notably, the spice levels remain accessible without compromising depth making it particularly well suited for diners exploring Indian cuisine beyond the usual high-street interpretations. A strong recommendation.
The restaurant is spacious, quiet, and very clean. The food is among the best Indian dishes I’ve tried in London. The staff are friendly and have a wonderful attitude. Highly recommended!
Stepping into BKC the first sensation was the smell. Delicious 🤤. Service, ambiance and menu were superb. We had the Fish Fry with that amazing accompanying sauce/chutney and the samosa chaat as a starter. Both were equally delicious. The balance of tart vs sweet in the chaat was notable with the pomegranate seeds adding a lovely touch. The lamb biryani as a starter was also delicious. Id recommend asking for some green chutney to step it up a notch. All in all a very enjoyable dining experience.
Few days ago I had good Lunch at bkc soho. Their chai and dahi kabab is over the moon
Amazing Indian restaurant in the heart of soho, fantastic flavoursome food with fresh ingredients and amazing service. Visit for a quick bite or proper dinner with friends we were never disappointed
The butter chicken was exceptionally creamy and flavorful. The samosa chaat was also delicious. The chicken tikka was satisfactory. I also ordered the shikanji, but found it excessively salty and lacking sweetness; it more closely resembled jal jeera. However, the meal was quite enjoyable.
Bongs do food amazingly well, and this Bong run restaurant in Soho proves that. delicious biryani, lotus stem kebabs, paneer palak, rumali roti which is a unique bread in the London Indian restaurant scene, and a kadak chai as if u made it at home, hot with the generousity of tea leaves lensing a strong taste to it, no watery overboiled weak tea. the interior is cozy and almost danish in its hygiene with 8 odd tables feeding about twice as many diners.
We came here through a recommendation. The food was amazing. The tastes of each of the dishes were very authentic and very balanced on spices. We loved the vibe here. We will definitely comeback here again. We also highly recommend this place
Visited BKC in Soho on Saturday evening after seeing Chetna's visit. Have tried the Marble Arch branch previously. Queues outside which is always a good sign. Service was friendly and prompt. Not the biggest restaurant but had a good atmosphere. We sat at a table for two near the door. The ceiling had a lovely artpiece of the clay pots hanging. We tried Chicken Wings, Lamb Kathi Roll, Lamb Biryani, Phirni for dessert and Karak Chai. All of the food was delicious and piping hot. Kathi roll was very flavourful and the aroma from the Lamb biryani was lovely. Karak chai finished the meal perfectly. The whole meal was superb. Short walk into China Town and near tube stops Leicester Square and Tottenham Court Road.
We came on 1st June for the special menu. Fabulous start to the month as the food was simply delicious. We had a fixed menu and it was quite extensive so had to pack it up. We would like to come back and try the Bkc platter some day. The restaurant itself is a bit constrained for space but loved the warm welcome and authentic taste of the food back home in India. Reasonably priced too. Service was a bit sloppy though with the servers having little clue about what was in the menu and had to be reminded couple of times. But apart from that highly recommend a visit here especially when they put on the special occasion menus.
Yesterday 4 of us booked a table in BKC Soho, I chose the set lunch with lamb+rice. It was outstanding. The spicy rice tasted very good. A hot drink was included, it tasted like tea with ginger, it matched well with the lamb. My fd preferred the chicken set lunch. She said it was very good too. Deeksha gave us very informative suggestions, 4 of us are happy with the indian cuisine. I think it's the first time we try it in London. We'll come back again. I noticed the decoration of the restaurant is nice and simple, I found that they concentrate much on quality of the food. The white yogurt sauce matched very well with lamb. I found here in the google. Never judge a book by the cover.
Amazing place! Best Biryani I’ve had in UK. Samosa chaat was really nice, BKC combo meals are a perfect varied meal, and the Gulab Jamun Rabdi dessert was also great. The place is decorated really nice and feels super cozy. Overall fantastic experience. Will come again!
Nice little venue with great tasting Indian food. The level of spice is very mild. It will be great if they add little bit more spice/chilli. The rice and lamb in the biriyani had the same level spice, meat well done and has 5-6 pieces big chunky lamb. I would say one of the best in central London, and felt very light after the meal. Mango Lassi is must try very authentic! Overall 10/10 The staff and the manager very friendly and great at their customer service.
We ordered veg food & loved every bit of it. I haven’t had this nice Galouti Kebabs & Dahi Kebabs anywhere outside of India. The smoky flavour enhanced the taste & took it to next level. Their biryani was amazing too, if you like Lucknow/Awadhi biryani with mild flavour & delicate preparation, this is a place to go to. It was full of flavour, vegies were perfectly cooked, giving good taste of marination. Please don’t expect a Hyderabadi biryani taste at a lucknow place. Lastly, we tried the chai and it didn’t let us down too.
Absolutely incredible experience! The food here is outstanding every dish is full of flavour and prepared to perfection. The service is just as impressive: friendly, attentive, and truly welcoming. I’ve tried many places in London, but nothing comes close to the quality and satisfaction I found here. Highly recommended.
Dear BKC London Team, A heartfelt thank-you for the truly wonderful food you prepared for our Diwali celebration. Every dish was a delight — from the vibrant Beetroot Cutlet with Chutney and flavorful Aachari Paneer Tikka to the comforting Dal Makhni and Kadai Paneer, each bite carried the spirit of celebration. The Jeera Rice and soft Tandoori Naan were the perfect companions to your rich mains, and the Gajar Ka Halwa provided the sweetest ending to a beautiful evening. Our guests absolutely loved the meal, and your food added warmth, flavor, and joy that made the party feel even more special. Thank you for helping us make this Diwali one to remember! Thanks 🙏
It was amazing!! We got the pepper chicken and the onion kachori for starters, the galouti kebab and awadhi chicken biryiani for mains, and to drink we got the mango lassi. The restaurant itself is super cute and cozy while also having a modern design, I really liked the experience:)
We only managed to take away which was chicken biriyani, galouti kebab and chai. OMG the taste was so amazing it cannot be described. It would easily beat some of the big names in Indian restaurants. Next time we are eating in !!
Busy, lively but good food. Innovative way of introducing Indian Bengali food in an accessible manner. Staff are really amenable. And the food has the perfect balance of flavour. Only one tiny complaint - it can feel quite oily and the desserts are quite sweet. But the staff are able to adjust and mindful of restrictions and allergies.
BKC Soho is a welcome addition to London's dining scene, doing a commendable job of bringing authentic Indian flavors to the UK. It’s a great sign that you’ll often find the place bustling with members of the South Asian community, which is perhaps the highest praise for the authenticity of the food. While the flavors are truly a testament to traditional Indian cuisine, the food can be quite heavy. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it ensures you feel full, but it's something to be aware of. The portions, on the other hand, are a bit small, especially considering the price point. It’s definitely on the more expensive side for what you get, but the richness of the food does make it feel substantial. What truly elevates the experience at BKC Soho is the service. The staff is absolutely impeccable—super friendly and kind. Their warmth and hospitality are reminiscent of the incredible service you receive in India, making the entire dining experience feel personal and welcoming. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel at home. In summary, if you're looking for an authentic, albeit heavy and slightly pricey, taste of India with service that is second to none, BKC Soho is a must-visit.
It’s a nice joint for tasty Indian food, pocket friendly too. It’s not fancy but still they have created nice ambient indoor space. We had tried BKC vegetarian, paneer kathi roll, paneer lababdar with tandoori laccha paratha & rumali roti. It was delicious, a good option to have Indian when in soho & laccha paratha was very fresh & tasty. Very humble, cooperative and attentive staff
Absolutely loved my experience at Biryani Kebab Chai in Soho! This cosy, home-style restaurant delivers real comfort food with warm, friendly service that makes you feel instantly welcomed. We ordered the mixed kebab platter, which arrived sizzling and packed with flavour — perfectly grilled and beautifully seasoned. The vegetable biryani was fragrant, well-spiced, and incredibly satisfying, and the tadka dal tasted just like something made in an Indian home kitchen — simple, soulful, and delicious. To finish, we had the gajar halwa, and it was outstanding… rich, warm, and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. If you’re looking for authentic flavours, generous portions, and genuine hospitality in the heart of Soho, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back!
Had a good lunch there. The combo of biriyani, kebab and karak chai is really good and having enough quantity for 1 people in 18 GBP. The masala fish fingers are really good as well. The a-la-carte items are overpriced in my view as 3 chicken kebab costs over 16 gbp doesn't make sense when 18 GBP gives e different varieties items. The karak chai is good.. We ordered chicken malai kebab for our children which tastes good but still doesn't justify close to 6 gbp per kebab piece. The place is small but have a good sitting and biriyani is not like Kolkata biriyani but good enough for us considering we have had pathetic biriyani experience across different UK restaurants. Would recommend people to visit if you like kebabs and biriyani as a combo with chai.. people may be apprehensive but I liked the combo....
Recently went to BKC to have wraps and lassi. Had a good time, the interior of the place is lovely. Enjoyed with two more friends there. We ordered the wraps and chat, lassi, Aam panna. It was pretty filling. The cost was reasonable too for the quality of food. Will visit again to try other items on the menu.
I think their lunch menu must be a new thing for them, it was mid lunchtime when I ordered and the place was empty. Food took a long time to arrive and I had to ask for disposable cutlery which they had to find elsewhere. Food was good, maybe overpriced for what it is but the portion size was decent. Barely any spice (heat) level to the chicken biriani and the chai was standard but decent enough. OK really sums it up overall.
I was treated to a takeaway from this place that specialises in authentic Awadhi cuisine. The signature dishes are the biryanis and we tried both the chicken and lamb along with a lamb katta roll. All the food tasted good and was above average when compared to what you would get at your local indian. However the prices are significantly higher than what you would normally pay. Is it worth the extra money .. for me the jury's out on that one.
Located in Soho . A variety of menu options. Food was fresh. However portion size was small and the cost for the size was too high. A single small roti was £5.
I’m disappointed to leave this review, but I tried several times to resolve this directly with the restaurant and received no response. I sent WhatsApp messages, emails, and tried calling over the course of three weeks, but was completely ignored. My husband is a regular customer at BKC and brought me a vegetarian biryani. Unfortunately, there were barely any paneer pieces in the dish, and more concerning, I found a hair in my food. I understand that mistakes can happen. What’s most disappointing is the complete lack of care and accountability shown afterward. Being unresponsive to multiple attempts at contact reflects poorly on customer service and hygiene standards.
