Had dinner here on Saturday evening, staff were really welcoming and so knowledgable about both the wine and food menu. The level or service is 10/10, puts all those chain restaurants to shame (and they should take notes from these guys). Food was amazing, lots of small plates mixed with a few large ones, flavour was amazing - felt like real tasty, nourishing food. Loved the small and cosy venue, very neighbourhood vibes and the vinyl playing was a great touch. Thanks for a lovely evening!
Loved this place. Wonderful natural wines - the orange wines were delicious. Simple, elegant and delicious European food that emphasizes the flavors of seasonal fare. Lovely staff, with wonderful recommendations. Really enjoyed it.
Great restaurant in Soho with a fantastic atmosphere and a modern British menu focused on farm-to-table ingredients. They have an impressive wine list, mostly natural wines, and the staff are very knowledgeable—they picked a wonderful bottle of pét-nat for us. Highly recommend the cod, potatoes, bread, and carrots. We were a group of four, which was a bit tight unless you've booked one of the larger tables, so I definitely suggest reserving in advance; it’s usually hard to get a table otherwise. Heads up—their phones aren’t working at the moment, so if you need to change your reservation, you’ll have to email, which can be a hassle
Lovely evening here. Delightful sharing plates and nice wine. Friendly service. Wines have gone up in price since our last visit
What a cracking place. Absolutely delicious food that changes daily, cute friendly staff, great vibes and atmosphere. One to check out if you want to escape the mediocre restaurants of soho and central London. Best meal I've had in ages.
Very cozy atmosphere, incredible wine selection, excellent & friendly service. Our waiter on Saturday night was great and attentive and was good at helping us choose the type of wine we wanted (their list is huge). The food was so damn good. Wine was delicious. We only got a selection of small plates and all were an amazing combination of ingredients that worked so well together. If it's still on the menu when you go: the purple broccoli with burrata is bangin and so are the cod cheeks!
Found this little gem online and it caught my eye because of the slightly different menu from the rest in the local area. The food was excellent, I had the cuttlefish for starters and the lamb chops for mains both plentiful and cooked to perfection. Service was very friendly and attentive, the food was made in good time. The only very minor gripe was the music which I found odd, the restaurant has a French bistro vibe but the background music was American hillbilly music and David Bowie.
Nice little restaurant in soho. The menu is very varied (veggie, meat, fish) and it changes very day! The drinks menu is also interesting as they have their own mixes and concoctions (like the vinegar drinks). We shared 3-4 small plates, a main and a dessert. Recommend booking as it is very small. Wouldn’t come here with a big group of friends. More like a 2-4 ppl place.
Lively hip and intimate ambiance. Everyone’s like family and it really translates on to the personal and fun service. How cute that they’ve set up a record corner/ collection that each leaving staff leaves as a memorbilia. Generally great and inventive small plates, cheese platter, and natural wine and other drinks selection. Great for: dates, small groups 2-3 Rating: 4.5
I love this place. The food, the wine, the negronis are all excellent. The team that makes this happen clearly love what they do and the rest of the team. They are not that warm and friendly but they don’t have to be every customer’s best friend. At least they are efficient and authentic. They also know their stuff and I respect that!
Great experience (intimate), very friendly staff and the food is delicious!! The cuisine is European/uk/Asian fusion. It comes with very strong flavors and in a nice quantity. Some of the best restaurant I have tried in London. It can be hard to get a booking for dinner but you can walk in for lunch during the week 👌.
Just amazing. These types of little restaurants are my favorite : seasonal food, original flavor mixes, excellent wine (i recommend the sparkling chenin). I had a lovely experience and cannot wait to come back when I’m back in London.
Finally made it to Ducksoup, and it was worth the wait! The food and wine selection was gorgeous, with each dish thoughtfully paced so we could savor every bite. Huge shout-out to our server, Naoya— very sweet, incredibly knowledgeable, and made the whole experience feel extra special. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable meal in a cozy, welcoming spot
We really enjoyed our lunch at Ducksoup, which had been on our list for many years, so we were thrilled to finally try it. Our favorites were the cod cheeks and poussin—amazing, so juicy, soft, and the sauce was so good you'd want to drink it! :) The service was good, too.
Cute little place in SoHo! Amazing selection of wine and great small and large platters. Love the atmosphere and the natural wines by the bar 🫶
We visited Ducksoup recently and were completely in love by the time the bill arrived. The service (big shout out to Rina, who is an absolute dream ), the food and the general cozy ambiance was enough to convince us to come back again and again. I highly recommend this place to anyone that truly enjoys flavour, cooking creativity and fantastic service.
A great cosy place for a dinner and a drink. My partner and I shared an order of bread, 2 small plates and a large plate. We sat on the bar which was slightly uncomfortable as it was small but we wholly enjoyed the small conversations we managed to have with the other diners that night. We will be coming again!
One of my favourites in london, so much so that I almost don’t want to recommend too much. The menu changes frequently but never disappoints. The cocktails are delicious and the wine selection very varied and intriguing. The staff are always very friendly and the atmosphere is so enjoyable. Would recommend booking (and visiting often !) a special shout-out to the bread and butter. as an Italian living in london I often find it hard to find sourdough bread that reminds me of home. Well, this one provides just the same comfort. Absolutely divine
Fabulous food. Great menu. Super natural wine selection. Try their Brisket - delicious. The pork - excellent. The chicken - divine. All the small plates are just the yummiest mouthfuls of gorgeously combined flavours. I'll be returning!
I was really impressed with the food, service and wine. I wish I could’ve ordered the whole menu! The puddings especially blew us away! I will definitely be returning
Amazing Georgian wine! The food… to good to describe! Best meal I had in a long time. The staff was impeccable and very kind, specially Ivy ! The choice of vinyls for the night was really good!
This place was on my list for very long time but one day I found an impromptu booking opening in early Jan, so decided to drop by. The restaurants in London these days are expensive luxury items and when I recommend places, and especially when it’s on the pricey side, there should really be reasons why and it’s usually because of the whole experience, the atmosphere, the people, and food to capture the gorgeous velvety moment. I felt my time at Ducksoup was so velvety it deserved to be captured in a retro purple photo album. The bars (upstairs and downstairs) both play vinyls and the music stops and a moment of pause, and it almost feels like being back at the old uni times in 80s, when the time goes by slowly. Enter the list of daily changing menus and wines on the board, we went for sparkling rose to start which was light and refreshing to start. We ordered 6 items between two of us, each dish was full of flavours. The choices Mediterranean influenced dishes with some Asian flavours also really made the whole eating uplifting and unique. The squid, pasta and black rice was our favourite. But don’t forget to get the plate of bread (we had two) and the dessert too because they were absolutely divine. Finally the service. The staff here are warm and knowledgeable and really integral to the experience we had. I’d definitely recommend this place.
I went there without reservation and it was super full, but the staff was very friendly and allowed me to stay outside to try some wines. The wines were just amazing! Normal price for natural wines in London. Will come back!
We stumbled upon Ducksoup completely by accident, and what a great accident it was! The staff were so lovely and accommodating and the food was completely delicious. We had 6 of the small plates between 3 of us, which was plenty, and they were all really tasty and seasonal.
The food was very varied, I was able to experience new dishes I hadn't tried before. I would say if you like the look of the menu, then don't miss the oppurtunity! Great service, cosy venue.
What a fabulous place. Delicious food. Excellent wine list. Friendly, and knowledgeable hosts...it would be wrong to call them staff. Music came from a turntable in the corner of the bar, so was chosen in real time. Will definitely be back. Definitely recommend.
We enjoyed this place very much. Eclectic food mainly small plates at reasonable prices made with care and flair. A very interesting wine list (Welsh Bacchus anyone!). Service was a tad spotty. We lucked out with the table in the little alcove - which was fab as we could talk but still got the buzz from the counter seating. Overall very good. And less than £80 a head with 3 bottles of wine between 4 (don’t judge us 😬).
A perennial favourite. So few restaurants remain truly great for 20 years, these guys have pulled it off. The food, the wine list (which keeps getting better and better), and top notch staff through all the cities hiring highs and lows. Still the best place to hang out in soho, has been for years, long may it continue.
Service and atmosphere were great, food was good but I think I expected a bit more. Wine recommendation was excellent though!
Food was really delicious and tasty, just the portions were waaaaaaaaay too small in my opinion. I had a starter, a main (4 little ricotta balls, called “big plate” on the menu lol and a dessert: didn’t felt full when I’ve left the place. For 77 pounds (service included) quite annoying. Service was friendly, but could be better too. Music was ok. Lovely wine selection. Vibes were nice. I’ll give it another try next time I’ll be in London, cause the food was really a 10!
Finding a quiet and intimate place to eat in Soho can be difficult, so I was intrigued to finally visit Ducksoup - especially after hearing so many glowing reviews from many foodies. We sat at the bar which was a great spot to see all of the action and the wines. We were lucky to have a good menu on the day we visited as it rotates frequently. The standout dish was the rotolo pasta with sage butter sauce and girolles. Overall, we were very glad to have a new and different dining experience to everywhere else we’ve visited in Central London. The service was very friendly and they helped us to pick out our wines as we had never tried natural wines before. My only recommendation would be to make the wines/terms used a bit more accessible - not everyone who visits will be a connoisseur…! Another slight critique is the portioning/pricing - our bill after 2 ‘large plates’ and 2 ‘small plates’, plus 4 glasses of wine came to over £175 for 2 people. For the simplicity of the dishes and portioning, I’m not sure if I could consider it reasonable (a few chunks of fried aubergine were £13), considering we’ve been to ‘fancier’ restaurants nearby for less. That being said, it’s still a lovely place and also v romantic!
Great atmosphere and attentive staff however food was slightly lacking in some areas. we got the heart with horseradish and the horseradish was so over powering it ruined the taste. The kohlrabi salad was fresh but not amazing. The crab and the braised chicken were the stars of the show and absolutely delicious! The wine selection is abundant.
Ducksoup promises an eclectic range of European cuisines served in an intimate and lively setting. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, though other aspects of my visit left something to be desired. The bar table we sat at had very little leg room, so you'd either have to sit sideways or spread your legs. I'm usually not too fussed about seating but this was a little uncomfortable. We ordered the labneh, chargrilled quail and pork shoulders. It's probably our fault for not reading the menu carefully but the quail came with labneh so the dishes kind of overlapped. We did enjoy the labneh, but the pickled lemons on the quail were awfully sour. The pork shoulders were the best thing we ordered, virtually faultless and extremely tender. It did take a while to arrive though. Overall given the price tag, I expected to be wowed. Unfortunately I was not wowed. There are definitely places with better value for money in Soho.
Great restaurant and original menu. Staff very helpful in choosing the wine. Mid-high price range, light lunch around £50 a head with wine. A little cramped, best to sit at the counter.
Very tiny restaurant. We have tried to book a table but unfortunately the only space left was at the bar. It did feel tight and not a lot of privacy. But saying that the food was excellent. Quite an interesting combination of flavours, we have tried delicious dishes. There is a good selection of wines as well. The staff were attentive. Recommended.
A very cute cosy atmosphere, with great customer service. I would recommend sitting on the bar table upstairs, it has a vibe to it. The food was exceptional and fresh and the organic wines were a nice touch.
Nice restaurant. Lot of vegetarian options. Cheese board was nice. Expected more than some lavash and cheese. It complemented the pickles well. Figs and labneh. These were great. Def order. Squash fritters with yoghurt dip was great. Quail with grapes were great. Hard to share given bones in the quail. Def nice flavor. Worth ordering. Particularly enjoyed the natural wines. The hostess is great at recommending basis your preferences. I enjoyed my experience. Recommend booking a reservation.
The dining area was a bit small but it made for a warm and cosy environment. The staff were very friendly and patient. This is a great place to go if you want a variety of vegetarian options. The cocktails were lovely and I would recommend the fritters, skate, cabbage and pannacotta with quince jelly.
The setting is very cool. Quite, clean, beautiful. The menu is interesting and the food felt super fresh. Wine was excellent! With a better service I would give it a 5...
Great little spot for either a drink (lovely wines available) or for dinner. Small and quaint place with vinyl records spinning! Food was pretty damn good. The menu changes regularly however from tonight would highly recommend the sprouts with horseradish! AMAZING! Staff are great and they know their wines. Highly recommend - banging spot in soho
Dimly lit, cozy, and small spot for tapas style food with wine. To start, we got the sardine ragu, pollack, mushroom polenta. All of them were pretty good. The sardine ragu didn't have a strong fishy taste. The texture was similar to a gnocchi. The pollack was kind of like sashimi with slices of potato on top. It was fine, but not something I'd get again. The mushroom polenta was my favorite of the night. I also love polenta. The polenta was thick and savory. The mushrooms gave it a perfect umami flavor. For mains, we got the Ray fish and the beef. The Ray was really different to any other fish I've had. It was soft, but also had a lot of bones. The beef was okay. It came with tiny potatoes and tomatoes which were again fine. Overall, it was a quick (ish) place to get dinner. It has a wine bar feel, and generally good food. I wouldn't come here for the wine. The wine by the glass was just okay. The most full bodied wine they had was a Gamay for our beef, and it was still quite light.
We came for dinner as a group of 6 and we ordered a variety of dishes and most were good aside from a few dishes which lacked a bit of flavour. The waitress gave helpful wine recommendations but lacked warmed and seemed annoyed by our group size. We also often had to flag down other staff to get their attention.
Starting with positives all of the small plates were excellent. We couldn’t fault them. The butter (an important sign of a restaurant paying attention to the details) was soft enough to spread and not fridge hard. The space is well lit and cosy and the music not intrusive. There are many reasons why Ducksoup should be a 5 star restaurant however on our visit a few things let it down. Our server seemed inexperienced, brusque, blunt and at times bordering on rude. I was so taken aback at their manner that I had to ask whether I had done or said something to upset them. They did apologise and make an effort to make it up but our first impression and for the first half hour of our meal was not a warm or welcoming one. I’m afraid it did taint the rest of the evening. We were sat at the bar and normally I enjoy being on a stool watching the busy work of the staff behind it and occasionally chatting to people either side. However, here, far too many seats had been crammed in meaning there really wasn’t enough room to eat comfortably or fit our glasses and plates. I understand it’s a small space, which adds to its charm but simply removing a couple of seats would give everyone an inch or two more space and make it possible to eat without your neighbours elbows in your back and risking knocking their glass on the floor. Unfortunately, it our main (the pork chop) promised so much but delivered so little. What we expected was juicy tender meat, crispy skin, unctuous fat and rich savoury meat juices. What we got was tough meat, unrendered fat and soggy skin and a just watered down by the greens on the plate diluting the flavour considerably. The rhubarb on the dish was the perfect accompaniment to cut through the fat but the cold aioli covered potatoes which should have been hot and crisp were also a let down. When I commented on this the server said many people had said the same. Still happy to charge the full amount for the dish though. Overall? Could do better.
Second time at Ducksoup. Warm cozy environment and a cute date spot. Though, when speaking about the food, it’s good but nothing that will blow your socks off, and truthfully, it is overpriced. Food also came to the table warm instead of hot. The staffs were friendly and could tell they tried their best, but slightly inefficient— waited 30 mins for the bill and asked numerous times. Was a good last minute dinner spot in Soho but I would not deliberately go here.
having been to ducksoup many times, my most recent visit was a big disappointment. my first time going was two years ago where i was blown away by the food & incredible service, but my last two visits this month left me feeling that there definitely has been a drop recently. i've had incredible dinners at ducksoup but unfortunately this one just wasn't as good- we felt that many of the flavours repeated itself across different dishes & there just wasn't much variety. service was also quite poor- the staff seemed so bored and seemed to be quite annoyed, it just brought the atmosphere down a lot. hoping that they can bring it back to how it was before!
Small plates not worth the price tag and not groundbreaking. One group member asked waiter for a gin and lemonade due to dietary requirements and on a quiet Wednesday evening - whilst being one of only three tables in there - they said they were too busy.
Was okay, smells a bit funky downstairs. Food wasn’t particularly interesting but was prepared nice enough. Service was pretty slow as they got busier as we were waiting 15-20 mins for a glass of wine. Seating is painfully uncomfortable. Overall just okay.
First time visiting Ducksoup! Reviews were great that’s why we wanna try; however, overall the experience was a bit disappointing. We ordered beef brisket that was amazing and a risotto which was not well cooked and very watery; I told the waiter when he asked if everything was ok; we been there an hour and we felt by sitting at the table and book in advance very rushed in terms of food coming quickly and then the bill came without asking followed by card payment straight forward and we haven’t finished out drink, compare to people sitting at the bar/bench. If you want to find a place to easy chat and relax I would not recommend this place.
Mussels, not fresh and super fishy. Quail, doesn’t melt off the bones making a terrible experience to eat. Sauce was below average. Pork cheek was very well done and the sauce was good too. However, the price for the small portion was absurd. On top of that, the onions still had their skin on. Kombucha was great, but the portion, again, small. Finished in a sip. Craft beer was terribly acidic. Sparkling water wasn’t served even though ordered. Bill came after a long time, and still came wrong. Conclusion: stingy portions, average food, poor service and won’t bother coming back. Better off going to Lobos in the adjacent street.
I chose to sit outside as a walk in for dinner so I don’t think it’s fair for me to rate atmosphere, but disappointing food and very little service. The fried cauliflower wasn’t seasoned and totally bland on its own, the sauce was nice but it’s hard to mess up a garlic mayonnaise. The asparagus with crab had less than a teaspoon of shredded flakes of crab AND had shell in it, and again no seasoning I could taste or see other than the parsley which there was honestly more of than crab. As for the service, I had to go inside to ask for the check, I was never visited by any staff during my meal, and wasn’t even given a napkin.
