During our stay, we tried several restaurants in London offering gluten-free options suitable for coeliacs, and this was the best one. They clearly understand the risks of cross-contamination, and I felt reassured about the safety of the people in my group who have coeliac disease. The food was good, tasty, and traditionally British. The area around the restaurant is also nice.
Daniel and Ummi were awesome and ensured we had everything we could have possibly wanted out of our meal. The pepperoni cheddar donuts were delightful. The burger and Buddha bowl were also 🤌🤌. And to top it off we got tiramisu AND the sticky toffee pudding. My wife got fried chicken and it was just an overall wonderful experience. Can't recommend it enough. We loved it so much we bought chef Marc's book and I will be taking my turn at some of his recipes when we get home. 10/10.
10/10 experience went for my birthday with my partner! Was so refreshing to not have to worry about gluten! The staff was amazing and the service was on point, the food was amazing alongside the drinks! I highly recommend to anyone who has a gluten allergy ( celiac) as it’s 100% safe for you to eat and drink there! It had such an elegant homely feel and I love dining here! Will 100% return xx
We came here for a gluten-free Sunday roast to celebrate my partner’s birthday, and it turned out to be the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had. The roast lamb was exceptional, complete with Yorkshire puddings and all the trimmings, and you would never guess it was gluten free. We also had the best gluten-free tiramisu I’ve eaten in my life. The texture and flavour were absolutely spot on. The staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Being able to order anything on the menu without the slightest fear of gluten contamination was such a joy. As London’s first coeliac-friendly restaurant, this place is a true gem.
Absolutely brilliant place to eat. We were celebrating a birthday and the service was great. Was more than happy to substitute a beef burger to chicken without any issues! Decore is lovely. The young brown haired lady that served us was amazing. Highly recommended the fried chicken and was not wrong about it been delicious. We even got a FREE birthday desert. Didn't even know / expect this to come honestly. Highly recommend and will be coming again when we visit London again.
A lovely restaurant with incredibly friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. I wish they had a bigger venue, it's small and clearly popular so it's kinda loud inside due to the other patrons but the food is absolutely delicious and for someone with Celiac's this is a dream. It makes perfect sense why this is so popular, so I recommend getting a reservation! It gets quite busy. They gave us a little free cake because we mentioned when booking that it's our anniversary, I didn't expect this at all. Very sweet. I recommend the pie and the cheesecake. Very delicious! Didn't expect it to be so good considering the cheesecake is vegan, but I was pleasantly surprised. Oh, and the cheese donuts were delightful too. Thank you for the lovely night, we will definitely be returning. P.s. I have never seen a nicer public bathroom in my entire life
Thank you for such a wonderful Valentine’s meal. Niche came up as a highly recommended fully GF restaurant on a blog I came across so we decided to give it a try, and honestly we couldn’t have had a better evening. I’m celiac but my partner isn’t, and it was so nice to be able to share things again and be able to choose anything at all of the menu without worrying. The food was absolutely delicious, the sparkling wine we chose was amazing, the service was excellent and all of the staff were so friendly and it felt like they genuinely cared that we had a good time. Celiac or not, I would highly recommend this lovely restaurant.
This is an absolute game changer. incredible food. Easily the best gluten free dining experience I've ever had. Regardless of your gf needs, people with no allergies will also be delighted. Every dish phenomenal. Cannot recommend highly enough. Wonderful service in the most beautiful part of London.
Thank goodness places like this exist! My partner has never been able to eat in a restaurant due to the severity of his allergies, seeing him so happy and relaxed filled my heart with joy! Food choice was great and the staff was lovely and helpful! Would totally recommend to people that struggle due to allergy!
A great find for ceoliacs ! Good menu selection. So nice to be able to have the choice of everything on the menu. My husband isn’t gluten intolerant but agreed that the dishes were great! Booking recommended. It’s not that big a resturant. It was fully booked on the Friday eve that we went at 7pm. It was quite hot at times. One staff member opened the door every so often & it was welcomed !
We had a wonderful experience at this 100% gluten-free restaurant. Both I, who am celiac, and my husband, who is not, had a wonderful meal. The atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming, the staff were extremely friendly, and the service excellent. They also have a variety of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, and are very accommodating to all dietary needs. A special mention goes to the completely gluten- and dairy-free cheesecake, which was delicious! We'll definitely be returning to this restaurant.
Our experience was fantastic!!! So many delicious options, allowing those of us who struggle with food allergies and intolerances to enjoy the amazing food! The ambience is perfect and the staff were all so friendly and welcoming! Colin was our main waiter and he is terrific!! Such wonderful energy, thoughtful and so attentive. It was a brilliant evening - thank you to the team and chef!!!
The staff were exceptional, so friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. I had the ribeye and shared fried chicken, chips and Mac & Cheese with my partner. It came out perfectly cooked and was very well presented. I would recommend to everyone coeliac or not.
The Sunday roast (chicken) was delicious! One of the best I've had. I'm not gluten intolerant so that speaks volumes. Wish there was more yummy gravy. I like my food swimming in it. Amazing service from all staff! I highly recommend Niche and plan to go back soon to try out more of the menu.
Honestly could not fault this restaurant one bit. From the moment we got there the service was on the ball. Servers were always checking in on us making sure we were okay and straight away asked if there were any extra allergens alongside gluten. Once we ordered our food the turn around time was phenomenal. We got the sourdough to share, which was damn close to a real loaf of sourdough. We got the doughnuts and the not-satay chicken for starters and they were both incredible. For mains we got the quack pot pie and the gnocchi dish and I could not find fault in the dishes at all. And for dessert we had the sticky toffee pudding and the tiramisu which were both amazing ways to finish off the meal. Honestly the food was top quality and as a gluten eating person who came here for my coeliac partner I would happily return and dine again. My only criticism is that my stomach couldn't eat more as I wanted to try everything. But I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. Heavily recommend to anyone who cannot have gluten as this place will fill that void you've been missing out on.
Lovely restaurant, I've been a few times now on different visits to London and even bought the cookbook. Today we had the cheddar donuts, which were great, with a pão de queijo-like texture inside but crispy outside from the fry. The chicken crown roast was perfectly juicy and tender, served with great roasted root veggies, Yorkshire pudding, and gravy. The seasonal vegetable side was perfectly seasoned and fresh, not an afterthought like the vegetable sides at some restaurants. The staff take great care to ask about allergies and dietary restrictions which is nice. Cozy space. Nice drinks list. Good value for money. Easily recommended.
We were a party of 8 celebrating a 60th birthday and we had a fantastic meal. It was so good not to have to worry about dietary requirements and to have just great food. Every course was delicious. The service from Colin was top class, friendly and nothing was too much bother. We would definitely go here again.
It is always a pleasure to visit your restaurant because of the amazing food - I'm a Coeliac, but my 2 non-Coeliac friends were also very impressed. I just wanted to say a particular 'thank you' to the fantastic staff who go out of their way to give you a wonderful experience. ALL of them were very professional , friendly, and caring.
Niche Being gluten free is such a challenge and very limiting in most restaurants. Even when they say GFO, it always feels like it’s an afterthought. We came as a family with me being the only GF person and the only problem I had was that I wanted everything on the menu, because for the first time I could. The food was so good and was the opposite to an afterthought. I can’t remember the last time I was able to have the warm bread brought to the table. All the food was beautifully presented and cooked. Can’t wait to go back again. !!!!
We chose this restaurant as it was listed as number 4 of the 12 Best Gluten Free Restaurants In London (Secret London) it’s a great little find, just down the road from the Sadler’s Wells Theatre. The food is all gluten-free 😁 such a treat not having to navigate complicated allergen menus! Great ambience and authentic feel, good value, very tasty dishes and wine. Staff were friendly, will definitely be back!
Great food for those who need to eat gluten free! As someone who *doesn’t* avoid gluten, i was skeptical at first but was happy to experience the creative menu Niche had to offer. The appetizers were well balanced, and the mains were generous. The service was lovely, and the restaurant had a lovely atmospheee too. Highly recommend!
This was the most incredible meal. We celebrated my daughter’s 14th birthday here and it could not have been more perfect. For the first time in her life she could eat literally everything on the menu. The staff went out of their way to be amazing, and O. M. G. The food was spectacular. 20/10 we will nyom here again
I visited this place with a friend of mine , after the theatre. We didn’t have a reservation and it was around 10min from the time the kitchen would close . The staff were amazing and really nice. Found us a table, gave us all the information we needed, helped us choosing the drinks as well as recommended what was the house speciality. The food was delicious, the music lovely and the atmosphere enchanted. We were the last leaving the place. They are right just towards the end I have noticed it was a gluten free restaurant.
Wonderful experience and perfect for a special occasion. The number of choices for someone who has to steer clear of multiple allergens were fantastic and my non gluten-free partner loved every bite. The millionaire's cheesecake was a particular hit (not pictured as there wasn't any left by the time we thought to take a photo)!
While it is a small restaurant, the staff was great and my family and I really enjoyed the gluten free dining experience. I thought that their Mac and cheese was delicious, and their fish was fine. There were also several unique desserts on offer.
100% gluten free. Such yummy food. If you are anywhere near this restaurant and are gluten free you should try it! Make a reservation though - although they were still offering outside tables for non-bookings. Wine was also delicious.
We went for an early dinner before the theatre, the menu is impressive and so lovely that you don't have to worry about gluten at all, which is a pleasure in itself! The food was hot and delicious. I would recommend the parmesan and cheese doughnuts they were fab! Mains were also fab, they are big portions too! Only downside is that at 5 we were the only table in there so not much if an atmosphere but the waitstaff and the amazing food made up for it until the restaurant started to fill,by the time we left it was busy. Overall food was lovely and the drinks too highly recommended, especially for gluten-free.
Niche is a must-visit for gluten-free dining — and a fabulous place for those who aren’t GF! We enjoyed our first visit so much, we returned two nights later! From the starter to the dessert, the food was fantastic! The service was delightful and the cozy room was energetic with happy diners.
I was absolutely delighted to have dinner at Niche in London. The service was impeccable — attentive, genuinely kind, and always making sure we were comfortable. The food was delicious from start to finish. Special mention to the duck pie, their signature dish: full of flavour, depth, and character exactly what I look for when dining out. And the chocolate cheesecake… simply outstanding! Yes, prices in London are a bit higher than in Paris, but the overall experience is truly worth it. Many thanks to the whole team for such a wonderful evening. I can’t wait to come back!
Our 2nd visit to Niche and always a great experience. With one person with a gluten and dairy intolerance and on Low FODMAP, and the other a vegetarian, it’s so nice to visit somewhere we are both easily accommodated for, and with great food! Worth the hour long trip across London for us. Highly recommend booking in advance especially on the weekend, as it can get very busy.
What a delight! As someone who is gluten intolerant it was so incredible to have a full menu to choose from. Everything we had was so delicious, plus the wait staff were really attentive and friendly. Cannot recommend it enough to anyone who is gluten avoidant!
A warm and enveloping experience from the moment we walked through the door. Daniel and his small (but perfectly formed team, much like the tastefully decorated restaurant) team were helpful and attentive and our food was exquisite - I shall be dreaming of the parmesan and cheddar doughnuts. The sourdough another excellent choice and would never have known if was gluten free by taste. All rounded off by the Glamorgan potato cake, a simply glorious rainbow plate of food in both presentation and taste. Too full for anything sweet, our dessert was ballet at close by Sadler's Wells, like many other of the patrons. And the team didn't superbly well to deal with the added time pressure of the event. Bravo Niche, I shall definitely revisit and highly recommend.
Great gluten free restaurant. Went for a Sunday roast and wasn’t disappointed. The focaccia to share for the table was fantastic, you wouldn’t know it was gluten-free bread. Only downside to the menu would be slightly lacking in vegan options, but great that they do a low FODMAP menu too. Lovely touch to do a birthday dessert as well.
Great little GF restaurant so no worries if you are a coeliac. A bit off the beaten track although handy for Sadlers Wells. Atmosphere was good. Service a little quick between starter and main but relaxed after that. We inadvertently booked in the "pre theatre" time range (6pm) so they are quite strict on only having the table for 1.5 hours. Would go again but for special treats as a bit pricey.
We ate from the Sunday lunch menu today at Niche. The vibe of the restaurant was very relaxed and cosy. I ordered the focaccia and the lamb roast. The focaccia was lovely and soft, with a beautiful rosemary flavour. The roast was delicious, the only downside was that the lamb had quite a lot of gristle in it. Other than that everything was great and it was so nice to go for a meal as a family, without the worry of gluten contamination. My sister has been a diagnosed coeliac for 6 years now and this is the first fully gluten free restaurant she has visited!
I dame here for my partner’s birthday and i had never been here … it was really really nice , the waiter that server us was really patient and really helpful the atmosphere was amazing really chill not to noisy and i looooved their playlist My favorite dish was their take on the fried chicken that just wow ! and the aioli wow too!! the meat in the burger was nice only thing i would suggest is to have regular bun as it was a weird shape like a triangle still really tasty but price/portion that would be the only downside side
Very good range on menu, delicious drinks. Pleasant & attentive staff- we would go again. Some of the meals were definitely worth the price in terms of flavour, some less so, but all meals were well presented and high quality.
If you are Coeliac then this is a great place to come. The menu gives you good options. It is a city restaurant, the staff were great and the food was nice. The chicken pie seems to be a favourite.
We went there for our anniversary, and were happy that we did. My wife has coeliac disease, so dining out can be a bit tricky. The food and the service here were impeccable! Everything we had was delicious! And the service was top-notch and very friendly. I highly recommend booking ahead, as the dining room was pretty small. My wife is also a wheelchair user, but they were very accomodating. They have a ramp to get over the step at the front door. The toilet is quite spacious and accessible, but reaching it could be a challenge due to the tight space between tables. But overall, we were really happy to find this place, and will definitely be back!
Thankful for a gluten free option on our trip. However, there are some things that could be improved. Our roasts were not cooked medium rare as asked, rather they were well done—we did not have time to ask for them to be redone as we had a tour planned after our lunch. Other tables received cold food, sending it back to be warmed. The kitchen sent wrong items twice despite our waiter placing them in the iPad correctly. My son received a chicken sandwich vs the burger he ordered, and he received vanilla ice cream vs the chocolate he ordered. The millionaire tart is nothing to write home about. It was thick chocolate filling placed in a hard crust I could not cut with a fork. Rather I had to break it apart by hand, eventually giving up on it and only eating the filling and provided fruit. Service and communication amongst staff needs to be streamlined and evaluated to find the most efficient way to serve patrons. Staff were completing the same tasks or taking over for others, causing confusion on who was to do what. Honorable mentions: The sides and Yorkshire pudding were delicious! The fondue was delicious as well with great dipping options.
Came here for a Sunday roast. The restaurant is very small. Make sure you ring once you’ve booked to double check a table will be assigned and they have received a booking. I booked 3 weeks before and rang to ask if we could extend the time on the table to which they said it was good I rang because they had no notification of a table. Very nice to have a 100% gluten free restaurant which puts you at ease when it comes to ordering! The food comes out very slowly - a couple of us had to wait over 45 mins for our meal whereas others in our party had theirs in 30 mins… Food wasn’t hot when brought out but at that point we had been waiting too long to ask for it to be remade hot. The beef was lovely and received a good sized portion. Staff were apologetic about the wait and did offer a drink on the house.
The gluten free Sunday roast was good, I am grateful to visit a place that caters to coeliacs as it made my girlfriend happy. However, the fact I paid £10.50 for a tiny focaccia and £9.50 for small pot of mac and cheese is everything wrong with this city. I do appreciate what you are doing for people with allergens though, but perhaps don’t penalise them with prices like this?
Second time round visit for us as a birthday treat, as it was last time two years ago. Sadly this will be our last visit as food overall was disappointing. The restaurant itself packs the people in so it’s very noisy and difficult to hear yourself speak with other tables so close - there was a table of 4 across the other side of the room, laughing such OTT laughs! We started with the sourdough bread & the tomato dip on the side which was yummy. My partner had the smoked salmon, which he enjoyed except the toasted bread was extremely hard. However, my fried chicken lacked any flavour, completely bland… you need the sauces of mayo & tomato to get through it. For the mains we both had the lamb shank rogan josh that comes with wedges (4) & a side of cauliflower cheese, which was very average. Photo taken after having eaten some of the lamb (afterthought) with most of the fat on the other side! I usually have lamb shank when I eat out, if it’s on the menu as the meat falls off the bone… not this one! I had to ask for a steak knife for us both to cut into the lamb!! The wedges were the worse I’ve ever had - hard & chewy, as though they had either been pre-frozen or microwaved! I gave up on my lamb shank half way through as 2/3rds of was pure fat, not my thing although my partner ate his as he likes fat and it wasn’t as bad! Eek! I let our waitress know I wasn’t happy & why, so she took the plate with all the fat on the plate and what was left on the bone to show the chef. She would’ve replaced it but I hate eating alone as my partner had finished his, so they didn’t charge us for this - quite rightly so! I was hopeful for the dessert as it’s rare I get desserts that are gluten free when I eat out… sadly another disappointment even though I didn’t have to pay for this. My partner informed the staff we were there because it was my birthday. I had planned to have the cheesecake with blueberries but the restaurant had kindly surprised me with a Happy Birthday in icing sugar and the cheesecake with a candle! It was a lovely gesture & looked fabulous, but sadly after a few mouthfuls of cheesecake I could eat no more as it was so wet and loose. You can see this from the photo. The blueberries were weird too - rubbery! I ate the strawberries… they were fine. My partner had the millionaire tart which he said was okay. This experience was very different to my first experience here 2 years ago. It has put me off returning or recommending this 100% gluten free restaurant, which saddens me as there’s not enough around. However, on a positive we had the most delicious limoncello spritzers that equalled those we’ve had in Sorento, so well done bar-tender!
Hugely disappointing. Overpriced and underwhelmed, the most positive thing I can say is that the gingerbread margarita was lovely and the donuts were unusual but nice. As both myself and my husband are coeliacs, this was a visit we were sooo looking forward to and it started off well, lovely margarita, friendly server but that went downhill as the meal progressed. The cheesy donuts were nice but came on a bed of smeared, orange 'stuff' that tasted of nothing. The French toast with mushrooms in a creamy tarragon sauce. It was the smallest piece of bread I've ever seen with a tablespoon of mushrooms that almost tasted medicinal because there was too much tarragon. We both had the pie which considering it is their signature dish, was absolutely awful. The filling was more like soup but was ok but the pastry, oh goodness, it was the worst pastry I've ever had. It was like leather, it was so bad, I took it off the filling (it was a pot pie) and couldn't cut it. Even my husband left the pastry which is unheard of. We ordered onion rings and cauliflower cheese as sides, the batter was rubbery, as a pastry chef, I don't know how they got the consistency of an inner tube! Cauliflower cheese was watery and the tiniest amount of cheese on. The portions were tiny and served in what looked like tapas bowls...the veg was good though and cooked well. Dessert was baked cheesecake for me which was ok but again the portion would have had a borrower pulling their mush too (small). Hubby had the crumble and custard. We both just laughed when it was launched, I mean served, in a vessel that would have quite nicely fit on my thumb. It was the custard...not only was it a 'well known brand' that comes in tins and cartons, but it came in a jug that came out of a dolls house - not kidding. We rather fancied another cocktail to round off the evening but the bill was served without asking if we wanted anything else! We had 4 different servers, some better than others. You're packed in like sardines, super noisy and the couple behind us were practically chucked out so they could seat the next customers, she didn't even have time to put her coat on!! The experience was an expensive lesson to learn. The only huge portion you will get from here is the bill. I cannot recommend.
Very disappointing experience. We visited as a family with our 2-year-old, hoping for a nice gluten-free meal. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow — we waited a long time, and in the end, our desserts were cancelled after 45 min wait without explanation. The food also wasn’t as tasty as it used to be, which was really dissappointing. The worst part was when we were calmly getting our toddler ready to leave (putting on jacket and into the buggy), a staff member *pushed the buggy* and told us to leave quickly as they needed the table for new customer. This was shocking and very rude, especially considering we were with a small child.
