We came here for an early Valentines Day date night (both have to work rest of the week), and were VERY happy with the food! Our server Mohamed was awesome! Very attentive, and also honest (he told me one cocktail wasn't the best, and to go for another one, so I appreciate that!). Bartender was very knowledgeable about his drinks. We ordered a starter octopus salad, sashimi salad, two signature sushi rolls (including the Oita roll - my favourite cuz it's got all my favourite ingredients! Eel, seared salmon, avocado, tempura shrimp... had a lovely blend of flavours and a nice freshly-seared taste), a fancy sashimi platter, plus some nice cocktails, sake and desserts. Would highly recommend! We are both foodies and my partner is a professional chef. Prices were good for what we ate, so very good value for money (ie we spent a good amount but that's pretty standard for sushi & cocktails!). All ingredients were fresh & good quality; presentation was excellent, everything was clean. Cocktails are made with fresh ingredients from scratch (none of that pre-mixed garbage that gives you heartburn!). There's a great selection of sake & well-priced Japanese (& other) whiskies. I loved the signature cocktail selection (many made with sake!) & would have tried all of them if allowed + there's also your classics, plus a creative selection of gin & tonics. Will definitely come back. It's also conveniently located right by the Wood Green tube stop & Wood Green Vue cinema for these planning a combo night out.

We didn’t know there was a hidden gem of a garden! Really did help that the sun was out and the surroundings are lovely. Menu is quite varied and we stuck with the sushi as that’s what we love! Sushi was very tasty and the cocktails were amazing! Would highly recommend this place. Thank you!

First time we have tried Oita. I wouldn't say it looks like a classic Japanese restaurant, however the food is quite authentic. We ordered a variety of food, some sushi and cooked food. All the food was very flavoursome and I would definitely come back again. What's more our two little dogs were allowed in the outdoor area so we could enjoy the food. I would imagine that the beer garden area is a buzzing place in the evenings as it has a nice vibe. Staff were friendly and helpful which is always nice. The only criticism I had was with salad coupled with the teriyaki. I felt it did not quite go. Don't get me wrong, it tasted good just did not quite match the dish. Either way definitely would go back.

I had a great time when I went to Oita on a Friday evening. We didn’t book in advance so they didn’t have any tables in the garden but the vibe and service was still amazing. We were given an option of where we wanted to sit in the main indoor area of the restaurant. Our server Monica was very accommodating asking if we had any dietary requirements and guiding us with our choices. When she was unsure whether the ramen broth was halal, she went to check with the head chef. I was very impressed with how well she knew not just the menu but the key ingredients within each dish. Food arrived in good time. Monica came to check if we were happy with our meals. She brought over extra dishes so we could share. Overall, I was pleased with the freshness of the food and the service provided. I even had the chance to see the garden area which is absolutely stunning and relaxing. I would definitely reserve a garden table next time. The final bill price was also reasonable.

Stayed on site at the Green rooms and came back to the restaurant after a gig at Ally Pally…what an unexpected find. Beautiful vibe, fabulous service from Monica, delicious food. This little gem will be worth a visit each time we’re in London, it’s worth the extra few tube stops out of the City. Absolutely fantastic!

You know those restaurants you hesitate to give a good review as you’re afraid they’ll become too popular, well this is one of them! I hesitated to write this review as the food was so good - fresh sashimi, sushi and a great selection of Japanese cuisine with a modern twist for the rolls. Service was attentive and friendly. The icing on the cake is the venue itself, there’s a beautiful little covered garden in the back that transforms into a fantastic elegant dining experience. One not to miss!

Absolutely unforgettable experience! For the first time in our lives, we ordered a second round of the exact same dishes - they were that good. Fateh, our waiter, was simply exceptional - he recommended everything to perfection, as if he could read our minds. We’re definitely coming back. No doubt about it!

I've always walked past here, and I thought I'd go in. I got myself a takeaway, and I must say I was not disappointed. Fresh and beautifully presented. Loved the decor and seating area. Next time, I will have to sit and sample the rest of the menu.

N
Nikol Hristova

Great atmosphere if you sit outside. There are usually plenty of tables that can accommodate you even without a reservation. The staff is very polite and considerate. The food comes quite quickly. I loved the takoyaki, prawn tempura, and salmon don. It is a great place for Japanese food.

I’ve been meaning to go to this restaurant for ages with my daughter and finally got around to it today. We were not disappointed. I ordered the chicken katsu bento box but because I actually thought it came with the curry sauce and it didn’t I had to buy the sauce separately. The contents of the box was super yummy. Loads of chicken and sides which included veggie gyozas and maki. My daughter ordered the eel not realised it was a bit pricier and not on the lunch menu but she really enjoyed it. The cocktails were delicious, I had the pina colada and my daughter had a raspberry mojito. The interior of the restaurant is lovely especially the garden area where we sat. It was beautiful with lots of plants. The only criticism is that we had to go pay ourselves at the counter as none of the waiting staff came back but that’s minor. We would definitely return here.

Amazing food. Generous portions and consistent taste. Our server Mohammed was polite, friendly and helpful. Explained everything and service was excellent. Ambiance is great and we have become regulars.

This is a lovely Japanese restaurant. The décor is great and creates a really nice atmosphere, with plenty of space and comfortable seating for dining in. It’s a large place with a generous layout. As you enter, on the left-hand side there’s a really cool lounge and waiting area where books are provided, giving off a cosy and comfortable vibe. They have a fantastic bar area serving Japanese beers, whisky, and both hot and cold sake. They also offer traditional cocktails and spirits — gin, rum, vodka, etc. When I visited, I was seated straight away. I ordered the Kakuni Ramen, which was absolutely delicious. The pork was so tender it literally melted in my mouth. I had it alongside a hot sake flask, which was presented beautifully and tasted great. The toilets are opposite the entrance and are quite trendy, with some cool art pieces inside. The restaurant is located directly opposite Wood Green Tube Station, so it’s easy to get to and easy to find. I would highly recommend this place for families, large groups, or anyone visiting solo.

Came for the first time Tuesday night and it’s an absolute hidden Gem. Food is fresh and served on a beautiful board , wine is fresh and service is far above from average. Shoutout to Mohammed for being so kind and lovely the whole time we were there. Honestly didn’t expect such an amazing evening , thank you guys !!

We visited OITA with my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and everything was wonderful from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious — real credit to all the chefs and kitchen staff working behind the scenes. We would also like to give a special thank you to Engin and Anastasia for their warm, friendly service at our table. It was a truly enjoyable and memorable evening. Thank you to everyone involved

The sushi is delicious!! Fresh, flavourful, and really tasty. The sides are great too, and the portions are very generous. I absolutely loved every bite and will definitely be ordering again!

I recently visited OITA Wood Green and had a great experience — the food, ambiance and service all came together really well. The menu offers a nice variety of authentic Japanese dishes — we had the chicken karaage and a few sushi rolls, and everything was fresh and flavorful. The portion sizes were generous and prices felt reasonable for the quality and quantity offered. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere struck a perfect balance — relaxed and casual enough for a regular dinner, yet stylish and energetic enough for a night out with friends. Overall, OITA Wood Green is a dependable spot for Japanese cuisine in North London — I’d happily return, and recommend it to anyone looking for good food and good vibes.

Hey ... we had a lovely evening at OITA Wood Green ... lovely food, great atmosphere ... super friendly and helpful staff, we really had a great evening. Like for example Anastasia who served us and made our evening feel really welcoming, thank you very much Anastasia and the rest of the staff! Phil & family.

Fantastic food, fantastic staff! We come here very for coffee or dinner. They serve gluten-free options (ask for separate menu on their iPad) and we feel safe with cross-contamination. Mohamed is super-friendly and professional, and always very kind with our kid! Also a nice place to work during morning and quiet afternoon.

We had a lovely experience at this Japanese restaurant. We ordered sushi and karaage, and everything was fresh and full of flavour. The unagi was the absolute highlight perfectly cooked and easily the best dish we had. A special mention to Mohamad, who looked after us very well throughout the meal. His service was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be coming back.

My wife and I have ordered from here a number of times and it’s been consistently excellent. The sushi is always fresh and delicious, the bento boxes are superb, and the karaage is genuinely to die for — crispy, full of flavour, and done perfectly every time. Everything arrives well prepared and clearly made (and delivered) with care. They’ve also been accommodating with small requests when needed, which is always appreciated. Easily one of our favourite places to order Japanese food from. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed myself here the atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely it almost feels like a warehouse style coffee shop that sells amazing upscale Japanese food. Our waiters were friendly and Mohamad made a great recommendation to try the veggie udon dish which was the star for me, thank you! I will come back again anytime I’m in the neighbourhood ☺️

This is a Japanese Restaurant that gave me a huge surprise - in a good way. The environment does not look "very Japanese", so I honestly wasn't expecting too much. However, when the food arrived, it was proven that looks can be deceiving. I ordered curry katsu chicken, each part of the dish (curry, chicken and rice) felt authentic and delicious. It was a plate that I would have given a pass score even in Japan, so enjoying this in London at such reasonable price is totally unexpected and fascinating. 11/10 would visit again next time I am in Wood Green.

One of the best restaurants in London. Ramen very tasty, sushi amazing. Beautifully served, pleases the eye and the palate. Go alone and check it out, I recommend it. Very nice and efficient service. Delicious drinks 🙃

I visit almost every month because the food is reasonable and the service is great The only drawback: there are a lot of flies on the outdoor seats, but it doesn't affect my meal🤣

A lovely gem in Wood Green. The decor is filled with plants, making the place feel cosy and private. This was my second time at Oita, and I enjoyed it better than the first time. The menu offers an interesting choice of food, and I found some dishes that I enjoyed. Aperol Spritz could have been better (tasted flat), but that is the only thing that I could comment on in terms of improvement. Our waiter was lovely and food arrived very quickly.

This has to have be one of the loveliest Japanese restaurants I have been to!! A very cozy atmosphere, and the food was absolutely amazing. The chicken katsu don was incredible, and the mochi ice cream was wonderful. Monika, who served me, was so kind and sweet!! I'm here in London on a trip from Scotland, and I'm so glad I got the chance to eat here ☺️ (also, the origami crane on the mocktail is the cutest touch!!)

V
Vanessa Louise

The waiter/staff member Kostas was personable and attentive, great knowledge of the menu. Recommendations were 10/10. The food - all great, but HIGHLY recommend the Flaming Beef roll (under the chef special).... it was truly special if you like a little heat in your food (its in the photos with the chilli on top). The mocktails were just as classy as the cocktails. I recommend the Apple Sour, very addictive 😍 At night it got a little chilly when we relaxed in the sofa area, because the beer garden was open. But honestly, that was a minor point. If you want great quality food, reasonably priced. Come here.

Wonderful restaurant! The menu is so varied, it's hard to choose! The food we chose was so lovely, as well as the cocktails and the staff are SO lovely and so attentive!! Highly recommend :)

I went to Oita for lunch as a Christmas treat for myself. I was given a choice of seats rather than being hidden in a corner or near the toilets as often happens to single people. Mohamed was polite and attentive without being overbearing. I have a gluten allergy and felt well cared for. I had a veggie California urumaki which was well made and didn’t fall apart under my clumsy use of chopsticks. The chirashi don was bigger than I expected and came with miso soup. Both tasted very fresh and the rice was perfect. The prices are very reasonable for the size of the portions. The music was audible but unobtrusive and I did not have to raise my voice to be heard. I happily recommend this restaurant and can’t think of any flaws.

Wow! Stumbled on this place while staying in Wood Green for the weekend, and was blown away by how delicious the food is. The tofu steak is incredible! I am still thinking about it nearly a week later 😂. We came in quite late/near to closing on a Friday night after travelling all day, but the table service was quick and friendly and they didn’t mind us arriving late.

Nice place, tasty food and polite staff. Recommend to visit and try chicken katsu curry. Also recommend to book in advance when visiting on weekend evening.

This is the third I’m going to this place. First time for food. Food and prices are great. But what made the difference this time, was Anastasia! She was just brilliant! Amazing service, kind and helpful in every way. She was just what you expect. Thank you 🙏🏼

Was a lovely place, and people, also multilingual, that was very appreciated for all the group while the waitress explain all the food of the menu and their best-sellers, The food as well was very fresh and well made. I highly recommend the this restaurant.

P
Paul Singleton

To start off with, the sashimi was fresh and on point. 5* for that. The spinach with sesame sauce was also 5*. Now the Yakitori, was missing the char of a proper barbecue grill. So only 3.5*, the Ebi Tempura, great batter but let down badly with the tiny sauce offering and the white daikon radish was missing and the sauce was not authentic. 3*. The OITA roll, was great but it didn’t need a bath of sauce 4*, the seared beef roll, was so lightly seared the beef was still raw in places. 3* and the matcha cake should be renamed citrus cake with a Matcha dusting. Overall ambience was 5* and so was the service, but let down by a few dishes prepared or not thought out correctly. Great for a local bite. But I would not travel again to eat it.

Popped in for a snack around lunchtime on a Sunday. Warmly and politely received, seated within seconds. Due to the warm weather decided to sit in the garden. Plenty of seating, wasn't too busy for the time of day. After ordering drinks the service was slow. Felt forgotten at times with other tables arriving after served promptly, was a impromptu visit for me so no bother but some people may mind. I put it down to the seating position behind the centre piece tree because you're not in immediate view. Notwithstanding, the sushi was delicious and fresh, highly recommend and would order again plus more off the menu. Wish I ordered some of the ice cream near the entrance to go as I was leaving. Only con for me was the toilet (there's two), it smelt awful but looked clean. Thankfully it's spacious inside so you don't feel choked up in a tiny cubicle. To each his own though as this is not a big deal for some.

Worth it

We had lovely food and cocktails at Oita! The sushi was delicious, very fresh and came out quickly. There was a lot of variety on the menu too. We had desserts as well, which were fine but didn’t stand out as much as the mains! We came quite early on a friday evening and were seated on quite a small table in the corner. This made it difficult to get the staffs attention, so we were left to it a bit. I think the decor has gotten a bit worn also, our table was really stripped of its varnish and had seen better days. This is why I haven’t gone for a full 5 stars! The food and drink was well worth the visit and well priced for the quality that you receive. However the layout and decor was a little cramped and worn on our visit.

L
Lloyd

What a spot to go. Not super busy very quiet and chill atmosphere for the location. First, food is top tier. I have had better miso soup, but the tempura is really good. Ginger rice is not overly gingery, so it’s enjoyable. Food wait was not too long, I think around 8 minutes for food arrival. Only, 1 thing that made me not put 5 stars is the staff. Had to wait 10 minutes to be seated when there was no one in the restaurant. Another 10 for a waiter to come and take my order, had to call them over because they were having a conversation with another staff member at the bar. So, just my advice would be don’t feel bad for calling them over.

H
Haziq Noah

Pretty good value for money, except the chirashi don. Didn’t get much fish for this dish ! But the unagi don and salmon sashimi don portions were good for the price.

A
Alex

First time visiting and the food is super delicious. Cozy environment, small selection of draft beers and cocktails. But the main attraction is the great food selection. The service was ok. But not to the expected standards for a high level restaurant. We found it slightly overpriced for what we had; for that price level we would expect a truly unforgettable dining experience.

H
Humphrey Morgan

We live in Japan and this place is genuinely pretty good. Has all your standard izakaya fare and is relatively reasonably priced. My Japanese partner particularly enjoyed the fusion spicy makis which you can't get in Japan so easily. For kids there's a decent smattering of easy to eat things if they don't like sushi such as edamame, karage, etc, so whilst it's not a full family restaurant you can bring kids and not be stuck. Decent variety of sake, too.

Torema “TT” Thompson

Update: I decided to give Oita another try, and this time, my food was really good, so I've updated my 3 stars to 4 stars. The service was better my first visit, but the food was much better on my second visit. I will definitely be coming back 😁 ------ Original review: I will start by saying that the service was great here... staff were really friendly and attentive. However, my food was just a little disappointing. I had the spicy seafood ramen and prawn gyoza. Gyoza was slightly burnt, and ramen was ok but lacked a bit of taste if I'm being honest. If I do come back, then hopefully, I can try something else. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. It's a lovely little venue, I just would've liked to enjoy my food a bit more.

We popped into Oita on our way to Alexander Palace for a concert. It was semi-busy for a Sunday evening, with two large groups and a few smaller tables, yet we were able to get a table for 2 without booking. The restaurant had a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Once ordered, the food came pretty quickly and everything was delicious. I thought the menu was well priced with a good variety and the portions were generous. We ordered x2 hot jasmin teas and shared the karage for starters. For our mains I had a chicken katsu curry and my husband ordered a ramen. Both meals were delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, whether you're after a quick bite or a meal with friends.

C
Chloe Luong

Oita is a go-to place after ice skating in Ally Pally. The interior is so aesthetic and chill. The food was so filling and came hot. Lovely Don bowls. The staff is nice too. I recommend the chicken katsu Don and the mixed tempura.

K
Kareem Nishkor

Food is a bit overpriced - 1800JPY for 4 Takoyaki?! - BUT it is very delicious and a great, laid back atmosphere. I wish they had more options on the menu besides curry, ramen and sushi/sashimi (bit cliche…). I’ve been before and I’ll definitely be back.

C
Candice

As me and my girlfriend walked in and i thought the atmosphere, furniture and tables looked very nice. The food was a bit too overpriced for what we tasted but it was still a very nice tasty meal but just a little too overpriced. The waiters were very nice. In my opinion i think the decoration and tables and furniture is better than the food but don’t get me wrong the food was still very good but just not as good as what we expected it to be.

J
Jessica L Philbs

🫓🫓🫓🫓 Unfortunately the ramen I delivered was not as tasty as I was expecting after reading a variety of good reviews, I found the chicken ramen slightly flavourless and the chicken did not seem to taste too fresh. 🍙🥬🍲🥚 -/ I personally would also love some veg in a chicken Ramen, I thought some pieces of the chicken were mushrooms before realising it wasn’t..

A
Andrew Sonny

Oita is a decent Japanese restaurant in Wood Green, but it feels somewhat overrated. The food was fine overall, though it didn’t live up to its high Google Maps rating. The pumpkin croquettes seemed store-bought rather than homemade, and the vegetable tempura lacked flavour. On the positive side, the vegetable gyoza were quite good. Unfortunately, the tamago donburi wasn’t very enjoyable, and we ended up eating only half of it.

E
El Lis

absolutely DISGUSTING 🤢!! The worst ramen I’ve ever had! bland milky water with old, dry chicken that tasted like it had been sitting around for a week. yuckk 🤮 Thanks for at least not giving me food poisoning.
