Opinions de Scoff & Banter - Canary Wharf London
What a wonderful place. Some beautiful views over the Thames River, the boat tours sailing by. The food was very nice and there was plenty of it. Very good value for money. The service was very good and the waiter was very helpful. It is a place we would definitely come back and visit.
This place is a real gem! The location is stunning and the food was really amazing. We had as main the fish and chips( huge portions but fried very well so wasn't really heavy) and the mushroom wellington which was really tasty. We then went for dessert and had the trifle which honestly wasn't nothing compare to the sticky toffee pudding, which was soooo delicious! Would come back just for it, really the best way to finish the meal.
What a lovely place. The staff were lovely, attentive and super helpful. We sat by the large windows overlooking the river. Although it was evening so dark and rainy it was still a pretty view with all the lights twinkling. The food was superb. Cooked to perfection. Very generous portions and tasted freshly cooked. Can’t recommend this place enough.
Lovely food, lovely staff. Beautiful glass views of the Thames highly recommend
Great experience, very pleasant service and excellent food. Many thanks Manisha for the pleasant service.
Shirley and Megna did an amazing job at breakfast. It was a bank holiday and it was busier than normal so there was a bit of a wait but for a small staff they still created a great experience. The pancakes were delicious and the open buffet has many options. If anybody is complaining about service today it’s because they have no patience <3
Great food, decent prices, fabulous staff. Our dinner for 8 at Scoff & Banter was excellent. Service was great, choice of food was really good and the quality was fantastic. All food arrived together, all was hot and perfectly cooked and the restaurant didn't have the utterly ridiculous requirement to pre-order food 3 months in advance!! We would definitely go back especially as there is a wine list with good choices at reasonable prices and cocktails that were both delicious and 'correctly' priced. Thanks you for a great evening.
I requested a sweet cocktail and the bartender (Santaman) made me a delicious Lychee Martini and some nicely smoker chili almonds.
Amazing afternoon tea! Lovely staff. Great atmosphere and a great view
Excellent service, especially Shaan who provided fantastic recommendations. Toffee pudding is amazing. Will definitely come back.
Had a very nice breakfast but wanted to leave a review as Vashawn was very helpful, we really appreciated he went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed!
Came here with a set lunch voucher from Radisson Blu spa day. It was very quiet during lunchtime but the food was good. The spice vegetable soup and pork belly mains were delicious. Waitress service was good though the temperature was too warm.
Delicious dinner with a nice view of the O2, don’t miss the nachos!
We were welcomed with a big smile and shown to our table which was right by the window overlooking the Thames River. We could see the cable cars in the distance and we could see the boats on the river going by. The cocktails were lovely, the food was delicious and the waiter was simply amazing. Great service all round and I highly recommend this place.
I usually don't leave reviews, but this one needs to be written! We just had our lunch hen party and it was amazing! The landscape was impressive, with a view over Thames and O2 as we asked. The service and food were impeccable! Thank you, Stefan, for your warm welcome and serving, for making our day special! Thank you for the Prosecco and the special dessert for our bride to be! We definitely recommend this place!
We came here for Sunday roast, and was served by Pamella who was an absolutely perfect host. She was attentive but not in our faces, always ready to help us with any questions or to refill our drinks. The beef roast was incredible, it felt like it was cooked by mum, nice and simple ingredients that were cooked to perfection. I'm a bit of a sook so I would have preferred the meat to be a bit less fatty, but that's my own problem not theirs. It was very reasonably priced for what it was, and considering that I was stuffed after, and having no sides. I will definitely return, and I'll absolutely keep an eye out for Pamella again!
We came here for our Xmas meal. The food was extraordinary but the quantities were really small. Also, it didn't feel very festive inside the restaurant. Those are the only reasons it hasn't landed a 5-star review. We did select the Christmas luncheon (pre-order) meal so may be the A Le Carte will be more generous portions :) Thank you for the lovely service, though! And the best cheesecake I have had in a long time! It deserves air-time and so here is the photo
Had a great time here for Valentines dinner with a set menu for 45 pounds. Came with 4 courses, the steak was delicious! However the waiters kept forgetting which course we were on and kept giving us the wrong order but I guess it's a consequence of the restaurant being packed for Valentines. I advise to book for a later time like we did (9pm) where you will have a more intimate atmosphere instead of being packed into a room without a view of the river.
Nothing too glamorous about this spot but it gets 4 stars for the service and the groupon voucher that made this 3-course dinner very affordable. They were out of house wine which come with the set menu yet they upgraded me to a Pinot Nior. Really enjoyable mushroom wellington with goats cheese for the vegetarians out there.
The food here is pretty great! I had the winter set menu this time so I could have some turkey for the first time this year and it was tasty and moist. The cocktail that comes with it was fab too and the sticky toffee pudding wasn't too sweet, as I asked for the butterscotch sauce to be replaced with custard. The service as always was pretty slow hence why I can't give it 5 stars but the atmosphere and view make it worth a visit.
I live close so have been here couple of times. If you sit down window side it’s nice view. I often eat fish and chips. Tartar sauce is nice. Good service.
Is just amazing, is good and the service are good too. The personnal all time have the smyle. Ty to the personnal girl with this slyle to serve me. A bad french ahah.
Incredible friendly staff Mr Lamar gave a 10/10 hospitality service will be back very soon
My visit was brief and I ate alone while on a business trip. I had the garlic mushroom on sourdough to start, the fillet steak for main, accompanied by the mash and sweet potato fries. The food was very well done, a credit to the chef. The service could have been better, especially when you consider that it wasn’t particularly busy at the time. Overall, I would eat here again on another hotel visit.
Spent a quiet cozy evening on Boxing Day here. We sat ourselves in the area right next to the river but then staff asked us to move to the bar area since we weren’t having any food. It felt weird since we were the only ones sitting in the area apart from another couple. We were then helped at the bar by Santaman who was the most courteous and served us excellent drinks. We had an old fashioned and a passion fruit gin.
Christmas luncheon. It's a lovely view over the Thames towards the Millennium Dome (o2). The choices were more interesting than your standard Christmas dinner (although traditional options were available). The dishes were very flavoursome cooked superbly. The service was good as well and all of the staff presented themselves well. The only slight hesitation is that after paying for a pre-booked set menu we were also charged the service charge separately. It makes sense and I had no problem in paying this but I felt this could have been made clearer during the reservation process.
The website advertised an affordable set menu, but upon billing, we were informed it was exclusive to hotel guests. The service was lacking; I had to request the menu and place my order after waiting. The dishes were subpar; the mushroom Wellington was mediocre, the fish and chips were average, and dessert was the highlight. Overall, disappointed with the staff and service despite the pleasant atmosphere.
I paid £17.50 for fish and chips, a spontaneous choice for a quick bite. The mushy peas were great, the fish a little on the fishy side but still manageable, and the chunky chips were delicious. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry and couldn’t finish my fish within the 30minutes. When I asked for a takeaway box, it took a while before the staff came back to say they didn’t have any. I was quite surprised that a restaurant integrated into a 4-star hotel doesn’t provide takeaway boxes. I felt really bad for the waste of food. Given the price and location, I won’t be visiting again.
Very strange experience, only person in the restaurant, the waitress wasn't standing at the waist here to be seated sign but rather behind a hidden booth? Finally was seated and then order taken. Food then comes out and the waitress walks past and starts questioning what food I got. Never got asked how it was. Food was fine but for the price not worth it. Also find it cheeky the 12/13 percent service charge whenever the service was pretty poor. Just seemed far to nonchalant for me.
A restaurant with a reasonably priced menu with nice variety, my only complaint was the waiting times.. It may just have been a one off however the couple at the table next to ours also had to wait a while. My husband requested a table by the window with a view, had it confirmed by email and on arrival was told we had to sit in the corner.. When we did receive our food and drinks they were very enjoyable and well presented. Overall a slightly disappointing experience, but id give them another chance.
The menu it's quite small but the food was good. Service was good although they had people on training so it was a bit slower. They didn't have afternoon tea anymore despite the reviews I saw and articles I have read. The place seems a bit forgotten they didn't have any customers. It's surprising the location is very nice with beautiful view.
The food was pretty good, but it was dead inside and the service was quite strange. The servers didn't seem to know what was going on. Even though it was dead we had to sit in the bar before going to our table because of a 2 hour time limit. The lychee martini was excellent though
Food 4*- Was yummy Atmosphere 2*- only customer there on a Saturday lunchtime Staff 0* - 3 of the staff absolutely oblivious of what was happening. My husband had tried to book online which wasn't working he had called up to book but a lady on the phone says it can only be done online, so we decided to just turn up on the day. On the day we arrived and a lady said there was a booking but got cancelled so we don't get the discount. Fds who came 45mins later, ordered their drinks and got it before us who ordered it on arrival. Asked countless times for some tap water, and the 4th time she comes over with half a jug, filled 3 glasses , goes away and doesn't come back. Amongst other questions asked , none were answered . Asked for the bill. I asked if they take the blue light discount for emergency services, she replies I don't know. I then asked if she can go check as just standing there saying I don't know doesn't really solve that question. She comes back with the card machine, and no answer. We end up telling her we will split the bill for each of us to pay for what we ordered (we knew how much we were going to pay so she didn't need to calculate it), she thought we EACH wanted to pay the full total, she'd confirmed 7 x bill total (who on earth would want to do that) so after more explanation and her confusion my husband ended up paying the whole bill then us sorting it out later. It was a very frustrating start to our day.
Let’s get the negatives out of the way, the service was painfully slow and inattentive considering on the day there was only our table, who came first and then 2 others about 45minutes later. For such a quiet establishment I would have expected staff to hover around more often and the kitchen to bring food out quicker. Now the positives, the cocktail drinks were mixed nicely and the food was nice and as expected for a venue of this nature and price. Would I go again, probably not unless invited to there for a special reason, however if you are a hotel guest with time on your hands then it’s perfectly fine.
Absolutely horrible service. It just didn't exist. We asked to have white wine with the starters and red wine with the mains. White wine was brought when we had already finished starters. Nobody poured the glasses, nobody cleaned the table and we had even to ask to bring folks with knives with the mains. Staff is unfriendly, unprofessional, luck of understanding simple things. Food was a joke. It felt like it was prepared a day before. Starters are just 3 prawns without any nice seasoning and taste. Turkey for mains was absolutely disgusting, the driest I've ever had in my life and looks like it was just microwaved before it was served to us. We didn't hear any music. No vibes at all. Such a shame: seems to be a lovely place but untrained and incompetent staff which ruined our Christmas dinner.
The service here was appallingly slow despite the fact that there was no one else here. I ordered a medium rare steak that first came so overcooked that even the steak knife struggled to saw through it. The steak was then replaced with one that had not even seen the oven as it was cold on the inside and still purple. Would not recommend.
Staff do not know what they are doing or provide a service than take the order and bring it out. So many questions were not answered or even tried to get a manager, 1 staff just said she doesn't know and stood there others just smiled and walked away and not come back. It was a birthday lunch and no one could get some water unless asked a few times and when a staff did come back, only 3 out of 7 of us got some. Drinks ordered arrived at random times (which is fine) but it was not a smooth and nice experience in all. Food was really tasty but probably not go back. The place was clean but could be due to fact there are and we're no customers on a Saturday lunchtime, probably more suitable for those staying at the hotel.
I had pre-booked and paid a deposit for the Christmas Day set menu for three people, totaling £240.00. I am shocked and disheartened by the complete lack of festive atmosphere upon our arrival. There were no decorations or any effort to create a Christmas-themed environment. Upon arrival, we were directed to a table that had not been set. There were no glasses, cutlery, napkins, or menus in place. Despite being seated promptly, 30 minutes passed without anyone approaching our table to take a drinks order. It was only after I personally approached the floor manager that we were finally acknowledged. Notably, the restaurant was far from busy, so lack of staff or being overwhelmed cannot be considered a valid excuse. They informed us that the Christmas Day dinner service had concluded, encouraging us to order from the À la Carte menu instead. After expressing significant displeasure and presenting the email confirmation of our booking and pre-order, the manager reluctantly agreed to honor our booking. However, the experience continued to deteriorate. The starters, which included two duck salads and one prawn salad, arrived without any dressing, leaving them dry. The dessert course consisted of two pieces of dry cheese that had clearly been left unrefrigerated, served with a sparse and uninspired salad. Furthermore, the menu had mentioned pickled walnuts as part of the dish, but these were completely absent. I attempted to raise my concerns on the day, but unfortunately, my complaints seemed to fall on deaf ears. I also raised a complaint via email but unfortunately was not taken seriously and deemed that this did not deserve a response. I encourage you to avoid making dinner reservations here if you are looking for a pleasant evening. I would only suggest making this your last choice.
There is nothing worse than a restaurant who insist on a time slot (1.5 hours 18.30 must be finished by 20.00) Who the hell do you think you are? You have no idea how long we may spend ordering starters, Champagne, the correct wines between course's, main course, cheese board and sweet? We chose to book locally with no pressure .
