This is the second Tas Turkish I've been to and I wish they had one in nyc because the food here is so much better, to me, than at the Turkish restaurants I frequent in New York. The set menu is the deal of the century with a glass of wine, two starters and a main for 37 pounds. The tabouleh and baba ganoush are outstanding and I can't resist the vegetable stew with cous cous. Charming service as well.
Amazing atmosphere, the staff are super friendly and the food was great 💖💖
Wonderful meal, discrete but excellent service, highly recommended Mid-afternoon it was quiet so we had plenty of choices of where to sit. We chose inside and had a nice table with good views across the restaurant My chicken, couscous and chili sauce was excellent but Claire's vegan selection was even better Two indulgent Anatolian desserts were also wonderful, with the highlight being the stuffed apricots
Just a few steps from the British Museum this lovely little Turkish restaurant is a perfect place for a meal or refreshment afterward. Excellent service, convivial atmosphere and lovely basic Turkish food offerings at very reasonable prices, especially for London.
Visited for my birthday lunch before the theatre. Ordered 2 for 1 cocktails ,very refreshing limoncello spritz Ordered the meze hot & cold So fresh & delicious. Very helpful staff & welcoming calm atmosphere.
I truly appreciated the meal, it was not only delicious but also brought me so much joy🍵🇹🇷
Lovely food served by friendly staff. Superb meat balls! Highly recommended! We revisited today with friends. All good, thank you Tas! Revisited! Moussaka terrific!
Great Turkish restaurant in the British Museum area. Good menu selection and food quality is decent for the price. The serve staff is friendly and they are generous with the bread. The pan fried sea bass is definitely worth trying, light and fresh tasting.
A really nice and friendly atmosphere, well presented and inviting. The food was first class and stirred my memories of Anatolia. Good portions, tasty and with adequate time between courses for it to sink in. Didn’t burn a hole in my pocket. Will we return? You bet we will 👍🏻
Lovely restaurant with family friendly vibe. Food was great and wonderful service, pretty interior. Great selection of meat, veggie and fish options. Great location and would recommend!
Nicely decorated to give a Turkish feel. We ordered the veggie Moussaka, salmon skewers, lamb meatballs and a portion of rice. The salmon was delicious with a crispy texture. Meatballs were also great with rice. We felt the moussaka was missing something and the taste was improved when eaten with the slightly salty rice. For dessert we really wanted Turkish coffee with baklava but they were all out of baklava for the day. The Turkish coffee was a pleasant surprise and very nice - we had one medium sweet and the other very sweet. All in all a good place to get a bite to eat and we managed to escape the torrential rain after visiting the British Museum.
Everything was wonderful. The friendliness of both managers and the great attitude of the waiter who served us were truly impressive. Thank you very much — we highly recommend this place!
Amazing food in an idyllic setting with lots of plants and lights to give it that Mediterranean feel. We had the set lunch which includes wine two starters each and a main. You also get some olives and bread with an amazing dip to nibble on. All for £21! Great and attentive service and the food was amazing.
If you visit the British Museum and up to Turkish food than stop by this restaurant. The food is super delicious and the restaurant offers nice seating options outside. Perfect spot for people watching.
Really delicious and authentic food with a huge variety of meat and vegetarian dishes. Every dish was a favorite and we appreciated the punctual service so we could get back to the museum. A wonderful restaurant!
Only stopped in for some drinks & I grabbed the prawns, best prawns I've had in years. Cocktails were nice too (as confirmed by a beautiful lady)
Great food and great location! Love it. The food was very good and the portions are big. Although there was a bit of a wait for the food it was great overall and I would recommend going here for lunch. As for the food.. I would recommend the pasta with diced lamb and walnuts, fish and chips and the vegetarian dish.
Food was amazing , the waiter was so nice and funny , i'll be back!
Very good food and nice atmosphere. Not too expensive, but not on the cheap side. The desserts are usually really good (kunafa) and the slow cooked lamb chunks were wonderful.
This restaurant is an absolute treasure and was such a refreshing discovery for me. After searching through over 50 bars, pubs, and restaurants in and around the British Museum, I was growing increasingly disheartened as none of them were enticing. Tas Restaurant, however, was a breath of fresh air. As I walked in, I felt relieved and reassured by its immaculate and welcoming atmosphere. The open kitchen to the right gave me instant confidence in their hygiene, and the layout of the restaurant was both practical and inviting. Despite the cold weather outside, the interior was warm, fresh, and had a homely vibe that immediately put me at ease. The staff were exceptional, especially Nergiz (our server), who was attentive, friendly, and professional... and the food was absolutely divine, bursting with authentic Turkish flavours (I'm salivating). What struck me most was the ambience created by the diners themselves. Everyone seemed so well-mannered and decently dressed, as though the restaurant naturally attracts people who value decency, quality, and refinement. It felt like an unspoken bond of purity and appreciation for the finer things, both in food and in life. This restaurant is a haven for anyone who cares deeply about what they nourish, not just their body but their entire being with. I highly recommend it a million percent and can't wait to return. It’s truly a sanctuary of excellence in every sense. Keep up the good work👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Food was fantastic. Everything had a distinct flavor and texture. Food was fresh and was served quickly. As reasonably priced as anything in the area. The apricot dessert with fresh cream and crushed pistachio was the perfect finish. A wonderful first experience with Turkish/Anatolian cuisine.
Delicious simit—simple, fresh, and amazing.
A very lovely Turkish restaurant. The service was exceptional, and the food was equally impressive. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a menu full of authentic Turkish dishes.
We were a family group numbering eight, with an age range from nine to seventy-seven years. All of us gave the very genuine Turkish cuisine, the highly professional service and the easy relaxed atmosphere a very definite five stars 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩!
Tas Bloomsbury is now open for breakfast! I was delighted to see this as I was about to pass on my way to The British Museum. A meal of menemen, (Turkish eggs) with a bowl of yoghurt and fresh warm bread was just what I needed. I always try to eat here when I'm in London, the food is good and the service attentive. Their corner location surrounded by lovely plants and trees is such a delight. Very highly recommended
I really enjoyed my visit to TAS Restaurant near the British Museum. The food was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was quick and friendly, and the place has a cozy, relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for delicious Turkish and Mediterranean food in the area!
The food was really delicious and everything was fresh and nicely presented. Our waiter Suheyl was very friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Great service and a wonderful experience overall!
As an Anatolian /Yunani i had booked a table for 5 with some friends from Istanbul,The food was amazing ,especially the calamari was so soft and the kiounefe that my friends said food were better than Turkey. Will be back soon. Nick
Yummy delicious food, with friendly service. I came with my grandson, we would definitely come again.
Food was incredible, full of flavour with complimentary homemade bread! Service was spot on, would definitely recommend taking a bite
Absolutely outstanding food and service. Had the house specialty and the lamb was cooked to perfection. Hummus was delicate and delicious. The baklava and Turkish coffee (medium sweet) was outstanding. Next time we're in London, we're eating in here again. First class.
Lovely place, helpful staff, well organised. We went in a large group, they served us very well and were flexible with the group number. The food was amazing, the meat in the mixed grill was perfectly cooked, very tender and tasty. Thank you!
Tas Bloomsbury has a calm, understated charm that makes it especially pleasant. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is attentive without being intrusive, and the menu delivers clean, well-balanced flavours. It is a comfortable choice in Bloomsbury for an unhurried meal, where consistency and quiet quality are clearly prioritised.
Visited here on a Friday evening, gets busy very quickly so I recommend booking in advance. Food was absolutely delicious, no faults. The only thing I would add is that portions are a bit small for the price. Staff were very attentive, constantly topping up your glass and clearing tables. All in all, a very nice place and I would definitely recommend.
A diverse dining experience with a good selection of dishes and flavours to try from the renk mezze menu, finished off with delicious baklava that were just the right balance of sweetness. Staff were polite and mostly friendly, though a few were a little aloof at times.
Excellent Turkish restaurant in Bloomsbury. The tabbouleh was fresh and zingy and the lamb beautifully tender, washed down with an excellent Turkish lager. The baklava were a little disappointing but overall still highly recommended.
Great value for price paid. I had my fill of food at Tas! Really delicious appetizers and the main was equally as good. Service was fast and the staff were very friendly. My only regret is not having space for dessert!
Very friendly staff. We ordered the iskender for our main course, the taste was really nice and a very big portion. But it was too much tomato sauce, reminded us more like a soup. Not really how I'm used to iskender. My friend also go at few chewy pieces. The sucuk was really good and generous amount. The real winner was the künefe. It was absolutely PERFECT! The christmas lights were every where and were constantly blinking so that was quite disturbing. The restaurant was quite full so the noise level was really high and we struggled to hear each other. Other than that, it was a pleasant visit and will be back😊
Great little place we fell upon walking back from Covent Garden to Euston station. 2 cocktails for £15 - very good selection. We chose to sit outside, watching the world walk by. Lovely atmosphere.
I honestly had high hopes for this restaurant, but I was very disappointed. Even though we were the only customers, the service was still slow and inattentive. The hummus with lamb was very bland and didn’t taste good at all. The Iskender kebab was nice, and the cacik was very good, I’d recommend the calamari but the tartar sauce wasn’t that great. I honestly wouldn’t go back to this place or recommend it. The waiters looked like they didn’t want to be there at all.
I went there with my friends. It was packed and ı ordered the soup and mucver. The vegetables were raw. We were waiting for a long time for the food to arrive. The service was a bit slow. It didn’t feel like an authentic Turkish restaurant. My friends didn’t like it. On top of that it is very expensive for lunch. It wasn’t worth it.
When asking the server about the winter menu that is displayed on the website was told that it wasn’t valid on saturdays, despite it not stating validity days on their website, this is very misleading. Adult main portion was also £20 and more like a starter size, a few pieces of chicken with some cold vegetables and no rice
Ate here recently. Good things: service, friendly staff, nice restaurant atmosphere, wine was ok Bad things: bread dry / stale, not up to par with the Mediterranean style breads served with mezzes. Really puts the mezzes to shame if you can’t enjoy the bread. You want a warm, soft, bread which enhances the flavour of the mezzes, not lets them down. Please change your bread! Meat was dry, chicken unexciting and lamb chewy. None of the tagines / casseroles / grills come with a rice or carb as a side. The steamed vegetables served are pitiful in both appearance and portion. By the time you’ve ordered a carb side, expect your main to cost £25-30. Such poor value for money. Really puts Turkish restaurants in general to shame; if one hadn’t been to a previous Turkish establishment you would think this is the norm and never return. Save your money, and visit Kibele instead.
I visited TAS Restaurant in Bloomsbury yesterday for my birthday and had a mixed experience. The food itself was okay. I ordered the house special, which had plenty of meat but surprisingly came with no rice, carbs, or sauce. I had to ask for bread and sauce, which the manager kindly provided for free, but I do feel these should naturally accompany a dish like that. The portion was filling but lacked balance and cohesion. Cocktails were fine. My friend ordered the chicken shish, but the accompanying salad looked very similar to supermarket bagged salad, which felt underwhelming for the price point. The part of the visit that concerned me most was the approach to allergies. I was given a complimentary birthday cake, which was a thoughtful gesture. However, it contained nuts. I explained that I have a nut allergy, and instead of removing the dish or offering an alternative, the staff asked my friend if they have an allergy and told me I could still “enjoy the candle” while my friend ate it. This left me genuinely shocked. Even though my allergy isn’t airborne, this kind of response is risky, especially in light of Natasha’s Law. A less fortunate guest could easily end up in a dangerous situation. Overall, the staff were polite and tried to be accommodating, but the handling of food allergens needs serious improvement, and the food quality didn’t justify the price. With some adjustments to both safety protocols and presentation, the experience could be much better.
Never been so disappointed in my life, I have a lot of faith in the workers because they offered great service and were apologetic towards the quality of the food after hearing feedback but until they change their prices, serving sizes AND MENU people should refrain from dining here. Lovely restaurant interior and staff. Extremely small portions on mixed grill that wouldn’t even feed a toddler, paired with cold vegetables???? Barely seasoned and cold cauliflower and capsicum does not belong in this dish at all, the Mixed grill, a classic, has been reshaped to suit a bland palate. Fried Calamari which came soggy… just a lot wrong. Lots of hope for this restaraunt to improve and hopefully make their food more Turkish. [in the image I had a bite out of the kofte] Edit: I take all the good things back I got food poisoning
We went to this place thinking it was a Turkish restaurant. Usually, Turkish restaurants serve very delicious food. From the outside, it looked quite luxurious, but inside, they seated us in the worst spot. Our orders were taken very late, and the food took a long time to arrive. The taste and presentation of the dishes were terrible — the onions were undercooked. I ordered juice for my son, but despite being very expensive, it wasn’t real juice; it was just powdered flavoring. The staff service was also poor. It was very expensive — my husband and I spent nearly £60 on food, yet we left still hungry. The dishes were bland, tasteless, and disappointing. No one paid attention to us. Even though we called the staff multiple times, no one came. They gave us strange looks, yet at the same time, they were very friendly with other tables — chatting, laughing, and even offering them drinks. Our table didn’t even have salt. We asked several times, but no one brought it, so we had to get it ourselves from the corner. It was a complete disappointment for us. We really didn’t expect this. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
By far the worst dining experience I’ve had — not just in London, but anywhere. I ordered the “Karisik Izgara” (mixed grill) and stuffed vine leaves. The lamb and chicken skewers were extremely tough, dry, and had a bad smell and taste — like they were cooked days ago and simply reheated. The vine leaves tasted canned, not fresh as claimed. The rice was undercooked and hard. Only the bread was somewhat acceptable. I couldn’t even finish the meal — I felt nauseous just a few bites in. It honestly made me question whether the food was safe to eat. And the price? Ridiculous. £25.95 for a plate that wouldn’t fill a child, and £9.50 for four tiny tasteless dolmas? I wouldn’t eat here again even if it were free. I’m seriously questioning how this place has so many positive reviews. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were fake or bought. Avoid this place. Complete waste of money, time, and appetite.
This is my first time in this restaurant, but I wouldn’t recommend it at all, because I ordered the shish chicken and it was under cooked, and the service was a bit slow we were waiting over 20 minutes for the food to arrive. There are many Turkish restaurants which are much better than this one. It didn’t really feel like an authentic Turkish restaurant.
DO NOT VISIT THIS RESTAURANT! This place deserves ZERO rating. WHAT A JOKE. I ordered a sea bass with baby potatoes and a lentil soup. The fish didn’t even seem like fish, it was HORRIBLE. The baby potatoes were FROZEN. The hummus was literally bought from a store, the most LOWEST quality. The salad wasn’t even a salad, IT ONLY HAD 2 ITEMS, that’s it. I asked for sauce and they served me FROM THE SAUCE BOX right on to my plate. Didn’t even bring it in a small bowl or anything. The waitress was RUDE. I mean, this place is a joke. A restaurant in central and this is the service you get? Never again. Plus, it’s overpriced. I paid £45 for a sea bass, lentil soup, salad and 2 teas. This place might as well close. For those who are going there, DON’T GO.
Dissapointing experience to say the very least. We popped in for a couple of drinks after a day out in London. From the very first moment the blonde lady that greeted us was openly judgemental and held a lousy, snobby attitude. When taking out order she was laughing at us mockingly, barely even trying to conceal it. Upon the delivery of our drinks, the man dropping them off was frowning, didn't say a single thing, did not even aknowledge us thanking him. Very rude. The drinks themselves? Pretty bad. Drinkable but not worth the time it took to drink them. When we went to pay the clutter all over the open kitchen was glaringly obvious... If you're going to greet your guests with such a downright fecal attitude at least present your workspace in a decent manner. As a chef seeing a kitchen with aprons lying around, crumbs and half-eaten bowls of food on the worktops while the guests eat a few feet away was, quite frankly, painful.
