Opinions de The Williams Ale & Cider House London
Probably the best pub on this side of the City. It offers an excellent selection of ales and ciders, all kept wonderfully fresh thanks to the constantly rotating lines, which also means there’s always something new and exciting to try. The food is very good as well — I’d recommend the fish and chips, or the rabbit or beef pie. The Scotch eggs are a great choice if you’re after a warm snack. The customer service is consistently good, and a deserved shout-out goes to Anton and Luke. I’ll certainly be back. Thank you!
We didn't eat food, Guinness on tap is the best and apple cider was great. Dart games and table games add to the relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely visit again.
Wonderful ale house, delicious food. The fish and chips was amazing. Shout out to the best bartender - Anton. Friendly, kind and respectful. He recommended the best ale in the bar. We will definitely come back again.
Nice pub overall, tasty food. Almost all ciders are not carbonated - not exactly my type of cider, but they were good.
cracking ale house... albeit expensive (but to be expected in this locale)... lovely cask ale bitters at £6.75.
Great pub, generally a little quieter than other packed bars...but still best to book a table if you'd like to eat (or play darts)! Nice atmosphere and good food. 3 dart boards free to use!
A wonderful London pub. Fantastic, cosy and lively atmosphere, with a large range of ales and ciders. The Cider-battered fish and chips were delicious, as was the Whitebait starter. Id recommend getting a flight of 3 1/3 pints of ales and ciders for the price of a pint.
I really enjoy time on this place, waitress was very smile and helpful with beer recomendation ;)
Excellent Sunday roast. We tried the chicken, beef and vegetarian (a beetroot wellington) roasts and they were all fantastic, with huge amounts of trimmings. The waitress / kitchen very kindly supplied extra gravy on request! Too full for dessert but would love to try it another time. Sadly, no hot drinks so you’ll have to go elsewhere for those! It was extremely quiet when we arrived, but people eventually arrived. Not at all crowded, just a quiet, relaxed place for a Sunday lunch. Service terrific. Highly recommend.
What a great find! Sunday roast was amazing and great selection of beers and ciders! I’m glad we ignored the google busier than usual warning as it really wasn’t busy and we got a table no problem!
Great burger and scotch egg. Traveled 20 minutes on the tube just for the cider and it was worth it. You can do small tastings of 3 for ale and cider.
Way above your average pub! Food: Every single dish I've tried has been absolutely amazing (scotch egg, Sunday roast, halloumi + pear salad, spinach & artichoke dip and crab cakes) Drinks: Great selection of crafted ales and cider, the best part is that you can order flights (3x1/3 pint) to try several of them. The selection of wine is also great and the pleasent surprise was that all of them were available by the glass! Price: It's not a cheap place, but considering the quality and size of the portions I think it's great value. As reference, Beef Sunday roast for £16, Tapas 3 x £18, Flight of ales 3 x 1/3 of pint for £4.80.
Well, this is the british pub to go to. Amazing bartenders, amazing beers and drinks.
We found this little watering hole whilst exploring Spitalfields. It was a really nice feeling inside. Exposed brick and dark wood. Very cosy. Great selection of beers and ciders. Felt a little sorry for the member of staff in there, she seemed to literally be doing everything on her own. That said, she was doing a grand job. Well worth a visit.
Me and my partner are on a mission to try the cask ciders of London and this place is a gold mine. Perfect atmosphere, knowledgeable and helpful staff and a great selection of ciders with seven pumps. This is my new go to place for draught ciders. Bonus points for location near Liverpool Street Station for convenience.
Just on a side road off busy Spitalfields Market. You step back in time to 1850. Low beams and lots of corners. With 3 dart boards ! Right touch of you fancy a game. Food is classic pub fayre. Big burgers and fish and chips. Had a scotch egg and sausage roll. Both hand made and delicious 😋. A real find in a busy area.
Nice selection of ales, including a London porter which was good. More ciders on offer than ales. I had a very tasty rabbit pie and a flight of 3 good ales. I will definitely do it all over again.
Great selection of different beers and a few dart boards too. Gets very busy for a few hours on Thursdays and Fridays but still a great pub!
Great bartenders! Food was amazing. Had the fried chicken, squash chickpeas salad, beef pie. All were outstanding. Nice beers
Spent a lovely afternoon here. Small intimate & friendly with a wide selection of interesting ales and ciders. Sam was very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend a visit.
Great pub, one of the classy originals of London! Love the darts area, spent there plenty of evenings and made great memories!
Great pub. Friendly staff. Very lively and clearly popular. Jubel on tap was the cherry on the top.
Great food, had lunch here with a client on Thursday. They had club sandwich and I had flat iron steak, both were great and recommend booking, as pub got really busy
I had a roast Sunday lunch in this beautiful bar earlier today. The ham was absolutely delicious. Service was excellent. The only point I would make is perhaps a place mat is required? Every time I wanted to cut the ham, the plate slid along the table which made it difficult. A minor criticism, I was really impressed and hope to return.
top notch cracking beers and proper cosy vibes Had a laugh with the bar staff Stefan helped me sort out a right personal dilemmna made the place feel proper friendly. Top bloke hope you're stuff goes alrite keep your chin up son. Food’s decent and the ciders are spot on Will defo be back with me bois
Probably the best pub in London! I’ve never been disappointed across 4yrs coming here on and off. Huge selection of cask ale, real cider, and keg beer/ cider. Consistent rotation of (fairly) unheard of tap beer/ cider. Good food menu, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere any time.
Favourite pub in the area, great beer, it’s always busy and with a ‘proper pub’ vibe. Staff are welcoming, a diamond - a place for people who know their food and drink!
Solid ale and cider pub. Quite surprised to find one so close to Liverpool St. Good selection of real ales and proper ciders. Dart boards at the back is a nice touch and only a donation to charity is needed to get the darts. Lots of room to sit too. Enjoyed it
A nice pub with friendly staff, Sam was extremely good. I popped in for a Sunday roast and unfortunately there was only 1 left so I settled for the lamb rather than the beef that I wanted. The lamb was fine and my partner was okay with the beef. I had high expectations that a Sunday roast was a big thing, but either I went to the wrong spot or my expectations were off. Other than that, the beer was good and I enjoyed my the Williams.
I really like this pub, it has a lot of character. It is divived into sections woth ample seating. The bare brick walls and subtle lighting give it an intimate feel. As the name suggests their focus is on beer and cider, hence a very limited whisky selection. I chose a double Talisker at a rather expensive £14.40. They do serve food, the usual pub grub e.g. fish and chips (£18.50) and double chèseburger (£18.50). One great feature is the three dartboards, they are very popular. I was here at 4pm on a Wednesday and it was fairly busy. There is no external seating so some people stand outside. I like this pub and highly recommend it.
Nice place with a good list of beer and well located (very close to Liverpool Street station). A couple of dart boards down the back are very entertaining too. Prices are a little punchy though (£8 a pint for some beers). Genuinely friendly bar staff
Update February 2023: Revisited this pub at a later hour during my next visit. This time, I was not so happy: The girl behind the bar knew nothing about the beers, wasn't terribly friendly either, and two of the four cask ales weren't available. Pity, my first impression had been so positive. So that's minus 1 star from last time. Original review: Spent a very pleasant two hours there on the trip home to Germany. With only 3 hours until having to leave for Stansted Airport, I didn't have the energy to face the push and shove in the heart of London, so I stayed in the area around Liverpool Street Station. There's plenty of pubs close to the station, but they're mostly conventional chained pubs and extremely busy (Nicholson's, you get the picture). This place is different: A great selection of real ale cask and keg beers, plus a nice, agreeably small menu. Of course the prices are elevated, but okay for London. The barman was knowledgeable and friendly, the decor is very pleasant, and above all: for the area, it was very quiet on a lazy Sunday afternoon (the pub is located in a small side street, very close to the station). Had three different pints, and a small dish, the grilled chorizo, which had a nice, slightly vinegary apple cider sauce. A-okay for UKP 7. I'm happy to have found this friendly, stylish place, and will go again when in the area. Highly recommended!
Visited with my parents over the weekend! Nice pub and very friendly staff! Had the chicken roast dinner - lovely roast potatoes, mulled wine red cabbage was to die for, delicious kale! The chicken was a tad dry and the Yorkshire pud slightly over done. Had a dark chocolate brownie for dessert which was gorg! Overall a nice experience!
A bit disappointed with service and their own ale was a bit off. That review was a year ago and on this visit the beer and service had improved no end. The atmosphere was great and we enjoyed the evening greatly. We'll done.
Excellent rustic pub with craft beers and ciders. Really nice comfortable set up with great friendly service. Food seems good although we didn't get a chance to sample it ourselves but will try next time. It's the best pub in the area. Highly recommended.
Nice place but pricy. That's why 4 not 5. 3 dart boards in the back. The music is completely unsuitable for a pub that's why 3 for atmosphere.
A cosy pub with a good range of drinks. Service was a little on the slow side but the staff were reasonably friendly.
A good old pub, a bit cramped, but nice to go to a place where you can enjoy a beer and a game of darts.
Pretty nice spot to grab a pint away from the chaos near Liverpool Street. Good beer selection, friendly staff. Pretty quiet but it was a Sunday and it was a welcome reprieve.
Helpful & friendly staff. Good choice of beers on tap, but service was a little bit slow
Came here for Sunday Roast, however at this price point were left slightly disappointed. For roasts above £20 you'd expect them to be good but it was lacking real flavour. At least the meat wasn't overcooked, though the pigs in blankets were - in my opinion - undercooked. You're paying for central location, which is fine if the food meets the standard. We probably won't return for food, however the location is great and the pub wasn't too loud so would be great for drinks & conversation.
Went with my mother and father, ordered the pie of the day and was slightly underwhelmed, the rabbit pie itself was tasty but nothing too groundbreaking, but the sides were surprisingly poor, two small pots, one being of what seemed like leftover cabbage and some dry mash potato, all served with no choice of gravy or sauce. Vibe of the pub is good and they serve a good Guinness which brings the overall score up but nothing to write home about.
The location is nice, food is good. But it became a generic pub with an ugly cider menu. It was my favorite pub for ages where I bring friends to try real ciders. They used to have nice Oliver’s, Pomona and other fine uk brands. Fot the last half a year it has very artificial flavor ciders, and all my friends and I totally dislike new sweet very sweet sugar flavor ciders. Please take fine ciders back!!!
Lovely little pub. It’s tucked away in a quite alley way. It has a quirky atmosphere. The staff was very nice to talk too. The pub had a very large variety of Ale and cider to chose from and wine. The prices are very good too. The food menu had some yummy choices on it.
The servers at this place moved us away from a noisy table pro-actively. I was impressed by the local knowledge of ciders specifically, walking us through each one through a tasting experience. Lots of nice nooks and crannies to sit with your friends.
It was ok overall, however the food was really below average pub level. The food in pubs is normally great, but here it was just nothing special and I didn't enjoy it at all. Chicken wings were undercooked with blood and not very fresh... Also it took almost 50 min to get while the place was almost empty on Sunday lunchtime. Anyway there is a good selection of drinks with different ciders, sour options, ales, etc.
Came here for a Sunday lunch catch up with friends. The service was very warm and friendly but the food was a bit of a let down. While the veg was cooked well, the meat (I had beef) was very tough and the Yorkshire was a bit dry. The pigs in blankets were awfully salty too so I could barely eat them. The atmosphere was also somewhat ruined by a child playing Christmas songs on the piano terribly.
It’s a nice pub in a good spot — relaxed atmosphere, decent selection of ales and ciders, friendly enough staff. However, I was a bit put off by how expensive the soft drinks are. If you’re drinking beer or cider it feels worthwhile, but non-alcoholic drinkers will notice the price difference. Overall okay, but not amazing
The staff’s hearts were in the right place but they were as useful as a chocolate tea pot. Advertising scotch eggs for over 7 pounds but having multiple mice running across a restaurant whilst people are eating, it felt like a real life Ratatouille film but without the Michelin star. No toilet roll in the toilets, drinks orders gone wrong, loads of potential but I felt that the two mice running riot were stopping it from reaching it.
I’ve been there on the 21st of August around 8pm. Especially because of the white man who is wearing glasses, it was my worst experience in Britain ever. While I was ordering, he mocked me by copying what I said. He was also very unfriendly and left our food on the table like he was throwing it. Even if I paid my money, I don't understand why I should be treated like that at all. I will never visit here again.
