Sushi Nikkei

This place was busy when we got there, we got a sense that they may have been slightly understaffed, but nonetheless, all the staff was very friendly and nice. The owner, Eduardo was super awesome! He stepped in to help his staff out. It’s good to see that the owners are there working alongside their team to make sure things are going well. And the food here is absolutely delicious!! The sushi has its own unique taste and flavors like none other. I definitely recommend anyone to come by here and try this place out.

A little on the pricey side (but expected as it’s Michelin recognized). You’ve missed out if you order from only their “specialty” rolls (the l//“specialty” rolls are more typical than special. The actual / real special and unique dishes are on the Sushi Nikkei Style menu. The quinoa pop in the Asian Shiromi was such a tasty and unique surprise! And the Parmesan Scallops were melt in your mouth delectiable.

The food is amazing. I don't like scallops, but the parmesan scallop sushi was nevertheless one of my favorites. Octopus was soft and tender. Tuna taco was rich and buttery fresh. The inside tables were very noisy, but the food was well worth it. Make a reservation way in advance (the Google assistant thingy did a very good job) as the place is small and popular.

Staff gave some great recommendations for their favorite dishes. We stuck with mostly Nikkei style dishes, which were all awesome. We ordered a ton of food, any everything was outstanding. But the octopus and the baked scallops were the two standout dishes. We also met a cool couple at the table next to us and had a great time talking and laughing with them. This is a great addition to the neighborhood. Can't wait to come back

Update: returned for a date night while we are in the area and my original review still holds up! The food was just as yummy as we remember and the service is top notch! Amazing ambience and every dish was delicious, the fish was so fresh! The way the flavors in each dish complimented each other perfectly made this our new favorite spot easily! They were packed and we ordered several dishes, everything arrived at the perfect time and the staff picked up every dish as it was emptied. Highly recommend!!

As a Peruvian/Japanese (Nikkei) this place offers authentic Nikkei food comparable to Lima Peru. It’s simply exceptional!! I’ve been in search for Nikkei food since I moved to LA and am thrilled I found this restaurant. My husband and I can’t wait to come back with friends and family. Amazing experience overall.

Pleasantly surprised with the fusion style, but was good quality fish, one of the best unagi I've had, and the flavor profile across rolls and items was top notch! Truly, one of the best sushi experiences I’ve ever had. Their fish is fresh and their menu items are outside the box as far as culinary experience goes. It’s a fusion of Peruvian and Japanese that is phenomenal. It can get busy later on the night, so we always go right when they open at five. The staff is accommodating and very friendly. We even met the owner who is awesome. You have to get the grilled scallops. They’re out of this world.It’s a must when you’re in Long Beach.

Sushi Nikkei was a delicious experience! We had reservations for 7:30 PM on a Saturday, but surprisingly it wasn’t busy at all. We were able to enjoy outdoor seating, which made for a nice atmosphere. The wine selection was good, and the sushi was absolutely divine—especially the Parmesan-coated roll (I can’t remember the name, but it was incredible!). We asked the staff for their favorite rolls, and they gave us several great suggestions. Every one we tried was delicious. Highly recommend!

Each plate was expertly crafted and flavors were so intense, unique, and fresh. My only regret is not ordering more food!!! Service was excellent, food arrived quickly, and I was thoroughly impressed with the execution of each dish. Wow!!!!

Everything is so good here! The Nikkei fusion of Japanese and Peruvian food is rich with flavor, and they are able to hit staple sushi dishes perfectly. The staff are really nice and skilled as well. I'm going back for more soon!

I cannot fathom why SN doesn't have a perfect five. The fusion sushi and sashimi were some of the BEST we've had stateside. Everything was fresh, beautiful and delicious. Not to mention, the service and timeliness were impeccable. I'm already dreaming about our next visit to Long Beach so that we can try more dishes. We ordered a round of drinks, Peruvian Cebiche, Yellowtail Jalapeno, Acebichado, Salmon Lime and a few other rolls. I'm seriously floored by our experience. Kudos to the chefs and the staff!

I wish I knew about this place years and years ago. The overall quality of sushi was amazing, everything was so light and not over weighted with rice and the flavor explodes in your mouth. Every single dish we ordered was exceptional. Our server was awesome and we sat outside which was very comfortable and relaxing. I can't wait to go back.

Tried this place for the first time last night. Perfect night for the patio. I had never experienced Peruvian style sushi and was not sure what to expect. Everything tasted amazing! Fresh! With the unique flavor adds I never used my soy sauce or wasabi paste. I will be going here again and recommending to everyone I know.

We had an amazing time here. It's sushi worth a Latin flair and it did not disappoint. From the perfectly cooked octopus to the freshest sashimi, every bite was a delight. The service wss excellent and it was such a warm place to shine out with friends.

Top spot in town. For was good and the service was excellent. Nothing super powerful, all simple dishes that kept the food tasting great with each bite. The scallops are the best!

Tried Sushi Nikkei in Bixby Knolls and we went all in with PACK 3. Spicy edamame to start, tuna tacos (so freaking good), and their Nikkei style sushi lineup was delicious. On top of that you get two specialty rolls for the cost of $72 for everything which felt like such a deal. We picked the Acebichado and OBA Roll, then got a little extra and added the Belmont Roll and HotTuna. Zero regrets, with sushi I feel like we can throw it down and eat a ton lol. The Belmont Roll and Acebichado were my top faves, totally worth it. The OBA Roll wasn’t really my thing since the cooked salmon. HotTuna gave a spicy little kick, loved that one too! The whole vibe is fun and different from your usual sushi spot. I love the Japanese inspired sushi with a Peruvian twist! If you go, trust me and get the HotTuna, Belmont and Acebichado.

I hope this is not the new normal. Excellent service, amazing food. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation ASAP! They do allow a limited amount of walk-ins, but I would recommend arriving 15 minutes before open if possible to beat the crowd. They also have three seats available at the small bar, so possible to be seated relatively quickly as a solo patron.

Ordered grilled scallops (highly recommend), shrimp tacos, salmon sushi, salmon lime roll (highly recommend) and oba roll. Food is fresh and overall a 4.5 star, but the oba roll was a little bland in texture.

I was really disappointed with my experience at Sushi Nikkei. After the waiters dropped off our order, they never came back to check on us, not once. We weren’t asked if we needed anything else, if everything tasted okay, or if we wanted more drinks. The only time they returned to our table was to hand us the check. Good service is just as important as good food, and unfortunately the lack of attention made the whole experience feel neglectful. I hope they improve their customer service, because being ignored for most of the meal really takes away from the dining experience.
