Always my go to place when you want to get away, have a drink and just have some great finger food.
Just the spot for some excellent service from a kind bartender on a quiet night.
Simply awesome!.....great food also....very hospitable and warm staff
The service here is incredible. I was here for my first stay in NY and everyone made me feel very welcome, I had a great time. Thank you!
The Shannon Pot Burger is simply amazing! One of the best I had recently! The service is great and the prices are affordable. Will definitely come back again
Great local spot I can't believe I haven't spent me weekends here earlier great hometown local feel with good food and cold beer can't get much better staff is amazing.
Good neighborhood bar. Assad is the best! Good Chili, good burger, chicken sandwich is good. Wings look good. I'm going to try them next time.
Delicious food and awesome brews!!!! With great service. P.S. they still serve popcorn while you wait!!
It is my first night in NYC and this is the first place I came to. Great food, better people that work/own/manage the place. Highly recommend
Great food, and great service! We love Assad
To my knowledge, this was the Bar they used for the short lived but excellent show "the Black Donnellys" (don't worry you can find it on Netflix) they called it the Firecracker though. To bad this, along with most of the block and the 5pointz building are gone thanks to corporate greed and gentrification.
Very nice bar. Good bartender. Chill and solid neighborhood spot. Great for watching soccer
This place may not look like much from the outside but staff..food and drink are fantastic. was so happy to come across this establishment on my travels
A surprisingly clean and well run dive bar, this place will regale you with buy backs and to-go beers. Highly recommended.
Friendliest service on the block. If you take a beer here you are greeted kindly with free popcorn and a bowl of chocolates.
Great place to stop by if you are in the area. Service, beer and food was great!
Great spot for drinks and food. My go-to for late night drinks. Great owners and excellent staff.
Amazing spot for karaoke on Fridays 830pm till we close it down wooooo happy place to be
Awesome spot !! its a home away from home. Maureen and crew are brilliant . Food is fabulous and the jukebox is rocking. Come on in.
If you want a nice neighborhood bar then look no further. The end.
Good service. Quiet bar. Cheap drinks. Off the beaten path. Fully worth a stop by.
Absolutely immaculate vibes. Great to watch sports, hang out, grab drinks. Asad is so friendly and kind and really makes this bar a must go-to. I can’t recommend enough! Also, I’ve been coming on Premier league Saturday mornings and Asad has been giving us small bowls of popcorn, which is so thoughtful!
Typical dive bar, but the star is Asad. Best bartender. This guy is to the point of being invited to my wife and my wedding. Came one time for a drink but been visiting ever since because of asad. This is a good place to just enjoy the night.
A great little dive with great music. Good liquor selection and plenty of space and tvs. I wish I lived closer if be here more.
My boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch on St Patrick's day after reading reviews online. The staff was friendly and attentive and the food was amazing. I had a burger and my boyfriend had the fish and chips. We also ordered onion rings which were delicious. We ordered bloody Mary's, which I am pretty picky about, but these were perfect. We even got free shots for the holiday. I'm definitely stopping by again next time I'm in the area.
Needed a place close enough to walk to and ended up at a place I will now go out of my way to get back to. A great atmosphere that is just a little more chill than anything in Manhattan. The bartender was an Irish woman who provided great service and friendly conversation. See you soon!
Fabulous place.. Always enjoy a pint or four in the Shannon Pot.. Atmosphere is spot on and both customers and staff are first class people! Highly recommended to anyone who fancies a great evening out..
My first time here today and I'm already spoiled but the bartender Asad was awesome with candy, popcorn, lowered my tip I just started back working understood my budget and treated me like the queen that I am
Awesome place! Great food, great drinks, excellent service, bartender Asad is super nice and friendly. Couldn't ask for more in any respect. Good vegan options on the menu as well. I'll definitely be back.
Best bar popcorn around and they’re so generous with it! And the staff is so friendly love it here.
Friendly staff, good comfort food, relaxing and unpretentious atmosphere. This is a no-nonsense kinda place - great spot to slide up to the bar and warm up with a drink anytime!
This is home to the greatest onion ring in all of (insert area) and I do not exaggerate when I tell you that you must order a Bloody Mary. —Well, I suppose that’s not really a correct use of “exaggerate” but I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that the Shannon Pot is open and amazing, regardless of how few lights are on outside (please put a light on outside). Please have a drink here! So good.
Great neighborhood dive, tons of drafts, and popcorn. Cozy.
An absolute gem in a city that is often too much. Understated, genuinely friendly (not just "have a nice day" friendly) - The Shannon Pot has immediately gone to the top of my list for winding down in the city that never sleeps.
Food and drinks are FANTASTIC! The staff is incredibly friendly. I visit New York to see a buddy a couple times a year and I’ll for sure come back.
This place is just awesome. Great environment, music... Pub vibes, the key is the service and people. The staff is friendly and caring. The place is clean and everyone is very respectful and friendly. I need to reiterate the cleanliness of the bar is great, the bartender is always moving and plays by the book, never idle and always tending. Great job Shannon Pot, and thank you!
Awesome place for food, drink, and atmosphere. Karaoke on Friday night to mostly 80's, 90's, early 2k's, and some recent songs. Multiple television for personalized diversity in programming. Great place to kill a few hours. Bartenders are friendly and generous.
Best bartender ever, makes you feel so welcomed. You’re a regular from your first time there. Great food. Try the chili! Great prices. Every sport you would want to see. Outdoor seating.
I did not get food here, but the bar keeper was very nice. I needed quarters for laundry and stopped by this spot prepared to make a purchase in order to get change. The bar keeper told me no purchase was required and gladly gave me coins. It was a much appreciated act of kindness since it was raining. Wish I had had time to hang around for a meal and conversation. Seemed like a quiet yet interesting local place. The type of place regulars pop in after work for a quick night cap and everyone knows everyone’s name yet welcome strangers and visitors in warmly.
As a solo female traveler, I felt really comfy here. Met some regulars who were very kind. Had the best Guinness I’ve ever had the US
This is a superb bar where the owner is very friendly and welcoming. The service is amazing and is an excellent spot for locals.
The Shannon Pot: The Pub That Wouldn’t Quit. Located at 10-50 44th Dr, Long Island City, NY 11101, The Shannon Pot is more than just a bar—it is a legendary survivor of Long Island City’s rapid transformation. Known as "the pub that wouldn’t die," this authentic Irish dive has successfully relocated three times to escape the wrecking ball, finally settling into its "permanent" home on 44th Drive in 2019. What makes The Shannon Pot a neighborhood legend? A Storied History: Originally located near the iconic 5Pointz graffiti mecca, the pub has been a community staple since 1999. When you walk in, you aren't just entering a new space; the owners brought the original bar, stools, and decor from its previous locations to preserve its gritty, old-school soul. Authentic Irish Comfort: This is the place for "no-frills" satisfaction. Their menu is famous for traditional Irish staples like Corned Beef and Cabbage, Bangers and Mash, and a deeply satisfying Shepherd’s Pie. If you’re just there for a snack, the wings and burgers (especially the Shannon Pot Burger) are local favorites. The Ultimate Local Hangout: Whether you're an artist, a construction worker, or a tech professional, everyone is equal here. It’s a classic "everyone knows your name" spot where the popcorn is free, the beer is cold, and the conversations are lively. Endless Entertainment: Sports: With multiple TVs, it's a primary hub for catching a game with fellow fans. Karaoke Fridays: Starting at 8:30 PM, the pub transforms into a high-energy stage where regulars and newcomers alike belt out the hits. Trivia Nights: Perfect for those who like their pints served with a side of competition. Resilient Community Spirit: Despite a change in management in 2025, the pub has retained its welcoming, "lived-in" atmosphere, proving that the heart of an Irish pub isn't the building it’s in, but the people inside it. Pro Tip: Keep an eye out for their St. Patrick's Day specials. While many places get overcrowded and gimmicky, The Shannon Pot keeps it authentic with some of the best corned beef in the borough. Whether you're looking for a quiet afternoon pint or a rowdy night of karaoke, The Shannon Pot remains the true north of Long Island City's social scene.
We came all the way from Minnesota and ended up at The Shannon Pot, and we couldn’t be happier that we did. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome—friendly, warm, and happy to have us there. A special shoutout to the bartender, Asad, who truly went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. His service was outstanding and made the night even better. Great atmosphere, great people, and an unforgettable stop on our New York trip. We can’t recommend this place enough and would absolutely come back again!
I noticed how everything tasted just right. The food impresses completely. The other entrees I've experienced were satisfactory. This worker conversed actively with numerous diners. Coming back is absolutely required.
The Shannon Pot is always that home away from home with a different experience but always positive vibes every visit.
Great place for a quick bite after climbing. It's your usual bar food, quite big portions. Free popcorn, and sometimes sour gummy. Had the chicken cutlet burger. Slightly overcooked but still juicy and delicious. The bartender is super friendly and helpful.
A+ neighborhood bar! We watched most of the Super Bowl at Shannon’s Pot. The bartender, Ahmed, made sure everyone’s glasses were full and that we all had a good time. I was there with my husband, but we left the bar having made friends with multiple people. Ahmed even signed the T-shirt I won!
If I could give this place a million stars, I would because this establishment is more deserving of it than any others I’ve been to. Hole in the wall bar that makes you feel like you’re part of a community. Asad is by and far one of the best, if not the best bartenders I’ve ever met. He makes you feel like you’re family and you’re at home. And in regards to the bar food- some of the best I’ve ever had. HIGHLY recommend the mozz sticks and buffalo wings. Long story short, if you live in or are visiting LIC, this bar has been my go to for years. You won’t regret coming here.
Came here on a Sunday afternoon to watch the Giants game. They have dog-friendly outdoor seating with small shanty-like structures that each have their own small TV with audio! My friends and I posted up in one of these tiny outdoor rooms which looked a bit crampy from the outside but turned out to be pretty cozy. Inside, there’s a couple big screen TVs and typical bar seating. The waitress was super friendly, was affectionate with my dog, had a great positive attitude, accommodated our request to change the TV from golf to football, and even gave us free shots before we left! We each had a few beers and some brunch plates and I enjoyed all of them. I’ll definitely be coming back here to watch the Giants games on Sundays.
Younger/rowdier crowd and a good deal more expensive than Leahy's down the street. Hot cocoa cant be beat though...
Great place for a drink, but wouldn't recommend the food.
Okay food was not wonderful but taste was good... kajun fries were somewhat dried.. it's clean but had little smell.. but anyways i still enjoyed that place to visit in the night time
Great bar, fun vibe and love the karaoke!! But it smells like an armpit 😰
Stopped in just to see what was going on in the Shannon Pot. Decided to have the steak, garlic bread and cheese sandwich with fries. Pleasantly surprised. Added a little salt and pepper to the already flavored sandwhich with paprika. People were very kind.
An annual spot for holiday drinks with a small group of former (and current) co-workers. The bartender is fantastic! Always cordial and professional, he always pays attention and makes you feel welcome. The food is good, not great, and very fairly priced. A lively neighborhood bar worth a visit. Sadly, the parking is horrible, but can't blame them for that.
Over priced for the area and service. Food was good
Good service, food was okay. Fries were mediocre. But they were friendly
Cute little local bar...service not friendly but gets the job done...
Typical bar. Didn't have food. Bartender was great.
Your standard Irish bar complete with multiple TVs, black and white photos and various news clippings and “original paintings” What stands out is the bartenders - friendly and quick! Whether you order a well drink or a draft, they are more than happy to serve you. Food was passable - I had a chicken BLT with fries. Perhaps I will try a more traditional Irish dish next time! Free popcorn all around!
Popped in on a whim for a quick bite over a business discussion. Food was below average, had to send the French onion soup back. The waiter/bartender was nice though and gave me poppers instead of the soup. Interesting enough, they use the same rolls for the house toasted bread siden as they do for burgers, as they do for the topping bread on the French onion soup instead of croutons or Economical, but a little odd. They were also fixing an issue with the front door, and it being in the 20's outside, made it a bit cold. Wasn't the worst experience Isn't, but isn't a place I'd put on my list to frequent.
We ordered two of the frozen cocktails—Pina Colada and Margarita. Both drinks were very strong—i.e., had lots of alcohol, which is good IMO. But the drinks came in a plastic cup and they didn’t taste anywhere close to where I’d imagine they’d taste. Also, the menu didn’t have any pricing info and the receipt was hand written (vs. printed) and it turns out that both were $16 each. Nicer places in Manhattan charge that much so I’m a bit surprised and disappointed. The staff was quite nice though, thus the 3 star.
Bartenders were friendly but $12 for a Guinness should be illegal. Especially when the prices for beer aren’t listed anywhere. Having one of the highest prices for a Guinness I’ve ever seen at an Irish pub with divey vibes in Queens is so wrong. The wings were very good. Mozzarella sticks were pretty good. The “quesadilla” was chicken cutlets cut up with half-melted American cheese pressed between tortillas. Also the prices we were charged for didn’t match the prices that were listed (I was overcharged by FIVE dollars for a crappy pretzel. Also- the menu noted pretzelS and I was given one.) So be sure to ask for an itemized receipt before you pay if you order food.
We just needed to find a place to eat and kill some time. We came across this place because it was close to us and it was hot as hell to walk around finding another. The woman who “greeted” us was not very friendly at all and seemed annoyed to have us approach her. (We walked closer to the entrance door because there was no one outside so we didn’t know how to call someone’s attention). The gentleman who served us was nicer. Food- OK. Jalapeño poppers are decent, but I’ve had better and for the price? I expected more. Same for the irish nachos (without bacon)- not bad but not worth the $$. We shared the grilled cheese which sounded bomb (we thought fries came INSIDE the sandwich, but it came on the side), but it was just average. We didnt get any drinks because we didn’t want to spend more than we already did (food below totaled $38!). They did have plenty of outdoor seating in a shady area which was good. It seems they have a wide selection of beers/cocktails, as expected for a bar. In all, wouldn’t come back, wouldn’t recommend anyone, but it was AIIGHT.
15 bucks for Irish coffee barely tasted like one.. 6 ounces at best.
I don't blame the wait staff. They do the best they can given an understaffed happy hour. At first I thought waiter couldn't keep track of drink orders because it was too loud to think but I realized there was no way anyone could keep up with that many tables during Happy Hour rush!!
The most expensive Guinness I have ever had, and I've had many... $13 for a pint is a bit steep, but besides that it was a chill place.
I’m conflicted because there are no prices listed and I should have asked but getting a bill for two Guinness’s at $13 a pop is absolutely criminal, easily the most expensive pint I’ve had anywhere in NYC and it’s some random bar. Friendly bartenders, fun place, but this felt like a scam.
Nice chill bar. Atmosphere was great however, there was an Indian bartender who was rude to me. Gave me dirty looks the whole time. I'm a very quiet, reserved person so i didn't want to make it a big deal. It was my first time there, wish I had a better experience.
Dive bar that charges $10 for a beer. Absurd.
I was interning for an organization in the neighborhood in 2023. I still remember my experience. I asked the bartender if I could hang a poster up on the wall. It was one sided and sticky on the side that had the information. He told me to hang it on a wooden board outside, which obviously wouldn’t stick as the poster needed to be on glass. He was standoffish. It was only 12pm or so, and it wasn’t busy inside. I assume he saw me struggling, and came outside and yelled at me, asking me if I was stupid when there was quite literally nothing I can do to put the poster up. I wouldn’t support businesses that call young women stupid to their face in front of their customers and embarrass them. I am not sure if the bartender still works there or not, but he surely doesn’t deserve to if that’s how you talk to people.
I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I was charged $15 for a Guinness. The Guinness was sitting there and the bartender just topped it off and gave it to me. Absolute horrible service and no class. Our whole group was overcharged and the bartender took advantage of us being drunk. If you like being overcharged and trash beer, then this is the place for you.
I walked in and asked for a menu and received eye rolls. The bar tender came to my table and asked what I wanted, I asked for a menu and received eye rolls. I can underrated this response if it was closing, but it’s 12:00 am so I have 4 hours left. Overall, skip this place. Bad attitudes, nobody is there, not worth your time.
I've been playing soccer with my friends at Murray Park in Long Island City, Queens, twice a week for years. After our games, we traditionally head to Shannon Pot 2 bar since it's conveniently located just a few minutes away. We usually enjoy some beer and food while sitting outside at the large wooden table. Today, I arrived at the bar a bit earlier and decided to wait for my friends on the small metal bench outside, which is typically used by smokers. While I was waiting, an elderly lady approached me and asked, "Are you comfortable?" I responded politely with, "Yes, thank you." She then said, "It's my bench and you shouldn't be here," essentially telling me that I wasn't welcome. To clarify, the bar was completely empty, both inside and outside, with no other customers in sight. I explained that I was waiting for my friends and mentioned that we usually come here to eat and drink. Her tone immediately changed, and she claimed to remember us. At this point, I told her that with such a nasty attitude, we would never come here again. It's worth mentioning that the bar is quite old and has an unpleasant smell inside, which is why we always choose to sit outside. After this incident, we decided to try "Fifth Hammer" brewery instead and had a fantastic time. There is also Gentry Bar on Vernon Street, which is a much better option among many other great places in the area. I strongly recommend exploring other venues because Shannon Pot 2 bar doesn't treat their customers with respect. We will never step foot in this place ever again!
