Went to GZ for the first time tonight and it was so good! Service was excellent and friendly, and the owner was the best. Davis Choy is personable and generous. The sushi rolls were so delicious...plus the 3 dishes they let us sample. Very kind people! Will absolutely be going again. Definitely a place you need to check out.

The food and service was top notch . I can't remember sushi rolls so perfect. They did not need any kind of sauce. I still have not stopped smiling from my experience there and will be back. Oh and most importantly my wife agreed 100 %

We randomly found this place and it's amazing! I can not stop thinking about the egg rolls and so I'm getting them to go right now. We also love the lettuce wraps, shrimp fried rice and the sesame chicken! This place is so good!!

Absolutely amazing! It’s the only place that I enjoy eating sushi in this area. It’s also a very nice place to eat. Everyone is nicely dressed and the staff is great. I don’t drink but their bar looks good. Great food all around! An awesome place to go on a date night

This is my favorite spot to get sushi in all of Longview. The staff is always so friendly and helpful. The flavor and the presentation of the food is top tier.

Great sushi - after some misunderstanding they allowed our disabled & in a stroller GSD. It was after 14:00hrs and they put us in a quiet area. Again sushi as well as the beef skewers, the sesame chicken as well as the soups highly recommended. We will be back.

I would rate more stars than just 5 stars if I could to do this place justice. The calamari is the absolute best I have ever had in my life. As many times as I have had calamari, even the best was not even close. I had a special of blackened Mauhi. Every bite of the meal was mouth wateringly savory. Creme brulee was the choice for dessert. Delicious! Every bite of this meal was an exquisite delight The only negative thing I can say is that unfortunately I could not try everything. Our server was amazing. He was knowledgeable and made fantastic suggestions. The food here can be a bit on the pricey side, but it is worth every bite. This is, hands down, the best restaurant in Longview.

Fresh, different, great flavors. We enjoyed! Try the fried rice.

Food was delicious sushi, Pad Thai, this place is some of the better food in town. Would recommend. Make a reservation they get busy!

Only second time to eat here. My tastes have changed a lot since my last visit. I appreciate this type of food now much more than my first visit. Had a teriyaki beef and rice dish with vegetables. My son had sushi. Both meals were very good. A dinner meal is somewhat expensive. Will go back.

Authentic Cantonese Chinese food. Handmade dumplings and first class sushi. I think of most restaurants in the Longview area as just being not very good. The food here is of the quality that you would find even in Chinatown in San Fransisco. This is in my opinion by far the best restaurant in town.

B
Brandon Osborne

I absolutely love this place. I go here when I want a special treat. The service is always quick and friendly and they have a great variety. Plus, the drinks are definitely good. It is not a cheap place but far from overpriced for what you get. I definitely recommend it.

E

Been eating here for special occasions for at least 6 years. Never disappointed! Absolutely love it! I always order Chicken Pad Thai extra spicy and a Poseidon Roll. Also the steaks are so tender and flavorful. When my dad comes all the way from Washington state to visit he always asks when we are going to eat at GZ's! Staff is friendly. I admit the wait is sometimes long but the food is always fresh and worth it. You can't get such quality from quick prepared food. I recommend GZ's to everyone!

First of my family and I were trying sushi for the 1st time and I honestly had mixed reviews on it so we just jumped in. We had California rolls & the Special California rolls. We LOVED them all but more so the ones with the mayo. PERFECT 10 STARS new here & you have a family kids included Returning FAVORITE CUSTOMERS.

Went for my son's bday. Our waitress was awesome. We had some leftover sushi, and since we live an hour away, she packed it all up in a bag with ice so it wouldnt go bad. Great service, great food, nice and clean atmosphere. I can't remember her name but we were there today at 2!

This place is so great! Been craving sushi for awhile, and ever since Osaka downtown closed haven't found any rolls I liked as much. I've tried a couple here at GZ and they're amazing! Will need to plan a date night soon!

Diving into flavor, GZ has the most incredible dishes from ahi tuna, east coast oysters, roasted duck and even more tasty cuisine. As a local , this mom and pop shop stays a weekly favorite.

Very nice restaurant with its own charm. The staff was excellent in customer care and the meal very tasty. Had the posiden roll as starter and it was much bigger than other we've eaten. Very delicious and tasty. I tried the special which was blackened salmon with curry shrimp sauce. Great spicey flavor that complemented the salmon flavor. Tried the crem brulee and I wish I had eaten it first, very delicious with a beautiful crust on top. The best I've eaten in a long time. Definitely will be going back.

Just went there for the first time tonight. 26th wedding anniversary. The food was amazing! We had the tempura shrimp appetizer, pork fried rice and chicken pad Thai. The portions for the entrees were huge, easily shareable so we ended up taking to go boxes home. Service started out great but after our entrees were brought out our waitress ignored us. She was in and out multiple times but never looked at us. About 35 minutes after we were finished eating I finally walked over to the back bar (I guess) and asked a waiter for to go boxes and a check. He was cool and took care of us. We will be back for the excellent food but it was kind of disappointing because we wanted to get dessert there but were kind of bummed out by then so we passed and went to Crumbled

We came here after the recommendation of locals, and we are so glad we did! The restaurant was closing for a few private events, but they accommodated us by letting us sit at the bar. Even with all their preparations for the parties, the food came within a reasonable amount of time and staff was nice and attentive to us. We had the pork soup dumplings, crab rangoons, orange chicken with fried rice, and chicken tikka masala with naan, veggies, and white rice. Everything came out hot (temperature) and DELICIOUS!!! I took a video of the main dishes but google won’t let me upload it, so here are blurry screenshots!

Had the chance to dine here as we celebrated some friends' anniversary... the atmosphere is beautifully romantic but social, the food was exquisite and the service was good. There was a live guitarist who did quite well also.

Reo was awesome. Very informative and covered all bases. Walked in and wasnt greeted by the pungent smell of fish like every other sushi place here, so i knew i was in the right place. They were able to accommodate any food requests and overall my bf and i had a fantastic time. This will now be my new go to sushi place.

The food is outstanding, atmosphere is nice, real Japanese feel to it. The staff is incredibly kind, knowledgeable and it's fun hearing them tell story of restaurant's history. They helped us learn more about how to use chop sticks too. The drinks are wonderful😋.

Absolutely a fabulous find in East Texas. I love traditional foods, as well as fusion cuisine. Their Cantonese Duck and Tikka Masala were absolutely wonderful. Service was spot on. We will be returning. I can see this will be a favorite.

My wife and I are first time patrons of GZ’s and we are looking forward to becoming repeat customers. Our food was top notch, the atmosphere felt really comfortable and our service was excellent. $42 total for the food that is pictured and worth every penny 👌🏼

New to East Texas and was searching up sushi joints. Found this one and decided to give it a try. Rolls were pretty tasty, however, there was a mix up with my order, however I will chalk that up to my fault. I was asking questions on multiple rolls before placing my order and I’m sure I ordered one roll, but was given another roll that I was debating on. No matter what, the rolls were super good, and was satisfied with what was presented to me. Will definitely be back! 🖤

L

A nice, quiet restaurant with good staff and very tasty food (my favorite right now is the curry) . However, the reason for 4 stars is the wait time for some of the food and the prices for the sushi. They were delicious, just some are not worth the $20+ price when the reason for it, like lobster on one of ours, was a very small amount.

J
Joe Kippers

The sushi and rolls are my favorite, particularly the Texas Roll. I've never found it anywhere else I liked better. The Walnut Shrimp is a fantastic dish, as is the Hunan Shrimp and Mongolian Beef. The rice bowls and Bento Boxes at lunch are very good. Dishes coming out of the kitchen are sometimes inconsistent, I would avoid the steaks as I have had more than one negative experience with them.

K

Came for business lunch and sat in back room. Service was exceptional. Food pretty good. As it was a select menu didn't get to try all I wanted.

I have been here several times now. The staff is always friendly and the sushi is always amazing! I have tried a different sushi every time, and I have never been disappointed. Food has been great ever my time, except for once when I ordered a lo mein dish. The noodles tasted/smelled like they had been just sitting in a sink for a long time. They smelled like a sink full of dishes. I still recommend this wonderful restaurant, however, I would not recommend lo mein.

We always get the shrimp fried rice it the best! This time I got the shrimp and crab in black bean sauce it was very tasty. Can't go wrong with the martinis!

Good portions of entrees and appetizers are small in portions. Price ranges is a bit high for the food. Question the quality of food if something’s are frozen and other things are more freshly made. Great service, very nice and friendly. Due to the price, not an often return visit except maybe special occasions. Also note the menu on line is more extensive so you have to check out those choices as well. Good selection for sure.

A hidden gem in the area. Family owned & friendly staff! The menu is very large & the portions are too! The Artsy decor is lovely

The great: the service was attentive, patient, and genuinely friendly. The good: the Cantonese egg rolls, the chocolate cake, the crab cakes, the fried potatoes, the wine The ok: the pan seared duck breast, the crab rangoon, the sake, the Italian creme cake The could be better: the shui mai, the fried rice, the mixed vegetables The wish I had known in advance: there is a credit card fee of 3.99%. Overall, this place is unique and adequate. I expected the food to be a little better for the price but maybe other dishes next time would fit the bill.

The food was good and I ordered a Thai Spicy Fried rice with chicken. It was not that great and spicy. It was with pepper. The appetizers were good.

D
Donna White

We had lovely service, the food was edible but not what I would call good. One in our lunch party has seafood allergy and had a chicken curry. She said the chicken in it was good, the rest was left and it looked like over cooked day old mess. I tried her broccoli and it was overcooked. 2 had Bento box, on a plate. Rice good, tempura strange but ok, fruit and veggies ok. Pot stickers, steamed were dry and hard shell. I thought under steamed others said over cooked. Egg rolls were pretty but tasteless. Needed siraccha. The bill was $96 with tip!!! Lunch for 4, no drinks. A bit much for East Texas.

Sherri H Emerson

It is a small place. I ordered Chicken Fried Rice $16.00 and it had tomatoes? and bean sprouts and was very bland and like eating paper. My food was not very good. They only had 1 waitress and we waited almost an hour to get food. People who came in after us got their food faster than we did.The place had people running by us to get things stored in a larger room behind us. My husband got Mongolian Beef. I am not sure what this restaurant wants to be? Based on my food and experience they are over priced for the food you get. And I personally will Not go back. There are other places in Longview I truly ENJOY! I wasn't impressed. We paid $77.00 for 2 dinners, 2 drinks and 2 rolls. I was wishing I had chosen to go to other places that give you a better value in the fantastic taste explosion I. Have come to ENJOY! When you drive down a road and just think of some of these other restaurants and salivate just thinking of their food you know where your taste buds are happiest! We spend less money to get a fabulous meal where we salivate! Kumori, Sumo, Milanos, Pietro's, Cotton Patch, Bubba's and Tele's!

T
Tawny Bradshaw

I ordered the tofu and vegetable plate off their "Vegetarian and Glutton Free" menu. No, that wasn't a typo. Tofu was not cooked well, but flavor was decent. Probably not worth the $18+tax that I paid.

C
Christi Hawkins

Not sure I will come back. Experience ok but rushed. A 3.99% charge was added for using my debit card. I did not see this until had already paid. The high charge Mastercard charges the restaurant is 2.6%. Pay for meal, tip server and have this fee, too much This is gouging. I have been going to GZ for years and Canton before that but don’t think I will be back.

A
Ashley Crawford

First thing, if you're vegetarian or vegan, I don't recommend this restaurant. There's not anything on the menu other than an avocado roll for vegan/vegetarian. Even the Thai vegetable hot and sour soup is fish broth based. Service was fantastic and decor is a bit dated but okay. Overall a little disappointed with the food but we didn't realize the vegetarian options were so limited, so that's not necessarily on them. We should have researched more instead of assuming.

S
Suzana Vee

Pictured is the Ichi roll, it was okay, same with the California roll. They both came out warm which is something I have never experienced before with sushi. The staff was friendly but not very attentive, especially for it being slow (there is only one other table here besides mine) I tried this place on a recommendation, didn’t like it the first time and didn’t like it this second time. Going to try it once more at dinner time and hope for different results.

Not bad but not amazing. Great service. Will give them another try for sure.

Goung Zhou was okay. For starters, we got their crab bisque ($12). It came out lukewarm, but it was REALLY good. For entrees, my husband got the halibut ($36 on its own) and garlic mashed ($8 more). I got the yellow Indian curry with steamed rice ($24 I think). My husband really liked his halibut though it was a bit on the salty side. My curry was good too, but it was a bit salty for me as well. However, the steamed rice was not the sticky kind, so that was a bit of a let down. I also got a their thunder roll sushi and that was good. Service was slow and disorganized at first (they got my husband’s number wrong when they took his name down so we didn’t get a text for our table). Our server was nice and attentive although she didn’t introduce herself. Food presentation was good. Bathrooms could use a DEEP clean. Overall, an okay experience…we might give it another try sometime. For the price, I expected a better experience.

J

We waited More than 30 minutes after placing our order which is too long. Customers were being served before us who had arrived well after us. The only food we had was the calimari and it was chewy and lacking flavor. After waiting 2 hours, we left without having our food.

K
Kd Hunt

Food was good. Not a great location. This place charged me a $5 "credit card fee" and did not even tell me about the charge. NOT COOL! All modern restaurants absorb the credit card fees. Wake up or go out of business.

J
James Garrison

Overall appetizers were good, tempura shrimp in sushi roll tasted a bit odd, but we did not say anything. We ordered combo fried rice with shrimp and chicken. Shrimp was rotten, we sent it back and they removed from our ticket, but no one came to our table to apologize and nothing really was said about it. I finally asked the waiter about it and he said yes, they tasted that way to the staff and management as well. Overall quality has declined since our last visit. Was once one of our favorite places for a nice night out, but we will not be returning anytime soon.

J
Jennifer Brewton

Stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday because we were in the area and have heard good things, wasted $80 on mostly inedible food. We ordered rangoons which were fine, but the Walnut Shrimp was awful! The shrimp were so big you had to cut it, tasted like chemicals and the sauce was straight mayonnaise. Husband ordered California Rolls and the crab meat was like a faux crab salad mix, way too chewy and all you could taste was the nori. I had one bite of my shrimp, one bite of his roll, and spent the rest of the night trying to get the chemical/mayo/seaweed taste out of my mouth. The lady working the bar/hostess/waitstaff was great, but that was the only good thing about our visit.

D
Donna White

For all the hype and awards they claim, I just spent $80 on lunch and it was not tasty but boring. This was my second and last visit. Need flavors such as garlic and Asian spices with pizzaze. Presentation is nice but not the price. Sad. I have eaten Asian, Chinese Vietnamese all over the world. Chicken Fried steak is better and cheaper elsewhere.

S
Sid Weigand

This was my first time at GZ. I heard some good things so I decided to try. We waited to long for a server, and finally one came. She was very nice, but it didn’t seem as though she had any authority to please the guest. It seemed as though she was under the strict control of the owner. Our food took forever to come out, and once it did the presentation was beautiful. My son’s orange beef was really good. My yellow curry chicken was too spicy. My wife and daughters dishes were good. However my wife ordered vegetable Pad Thai which was supposed to come with tofu. The tofu wasn’t in the dish, and the owner didn’t make any concessions for us. (Like maybe she could have given us a discount). We had to walk to the front because our waitress never came back to the table with our credit card. Instead, she took $1.00 off after over charging us by $4.00 lol! The waitress brought this to the owner’s attention, but it didn’t seem to matter to her. Also on my bill was another $4.00 surcharge for paying without cash. This is a joke. Hardly anyone pays with cash. I brought this to the waitress attention. She pointed to a puny sign by the cash register and said “see it says it right here”. I don’t think I’ll be back because I dont like to do business with people like this. However , if you guys want to increase sales then please the guest and don’t nickel and dime people, especially when your entrees are $25, double the other asian restaurants.

Decided to have a sushi night with my partner. We got sat by a young gentlemen and didn’t receive any service for 15 minutes. After explaining that to the young man that sat us, he was very nice and told a waitress that we needed service. Our waitress was a young woman and was very attentive and polite. The food was definitely not worth the price. We assumed because the prices were high that it would would be better than decent, but it was very disappointing. I wish it was more delicious :/ But I appreciate the two kind young workers who helped us out.

Brooke

The food was good but it definitely was not worth the price. I got the duck, a lot of it was charred so much I couldn't tell if it was skin or bone. My partner got The Village, and when it came out, the first thing they noticed is that you could smell it, and any sushi connoisseur knows that if you can smell it, it isn't good. The white fish was the smelly one. The bar drinks were very yummy though, which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. My partner got the Dragon Kiss Martini and I got a different one i cant remember the name of but it was in the middle of the martini list tiwards the bottom lol. But the drinks were very pretty. The fried rice and vegetables that came with my duck was very delicious and tender. But the star of my dish, the duck, didn't live up to the role it was meant to play. It was very tough and seemed over cooked. The service was not 5 star either. The waitress was so very kind, but she was the only one there and there were so many more groups of people who showed up after us, yet they got their food before we did. Overall, probably not going back for the food ever, but the drinks are worth a visit to the bar if i am not trying to get a buzz, as they were more like juice than an alcoholic beverage.

B
Briahna Dean

Service was great. The food is not satisfactory. The receipt was inaccurate. The bill should have been $87 plus tax. The receipt showed$95, plus tax. Watch out, their math doesn't add up. Will not go back.

M
Mr Johnson

Service is extremely slow. Server lacked attentiveness. Bar took way to long to get drink order together. To top it off they charge 4% to pay by CC. This is not stated until after they run your card. Wont be going back

A
Abby

Save your money! Do not eat here! If I could leave zero stars I would. The food is not good. God help you if you order a medium steak. It will be either well done or RARE. And the owner/cook will do his best to embarrass you in front of the rest of the restaurant if you send it back. For $45 a steak, you should get what you order and not be made to feel guilty when it's not right. The rest of the food is bland. The only good thing here is the chicken Tikka Masala. But regardless, I would never give my money to this restaurant owner again.

H
Heather Anderson

If only you could leave 0 stars... we waited over an hour for just our sushi & beer! After 1 1/2 hours they said our meal wouldn't be out for another hour... this is ridiculous for the prices they have & the food they offer! Also, the wait staff was touching crackers & other food with bare hands! WILL NOT EVER RETURN TO THIS RESTAURANT!

s
sherri cole

The weight service was really bad and there was not that many people in there for lunch. Could hardly get my ice tea filled. But the ladies behind us that we're ordering cocktails got all the attention.

J
Jeff Lattea

If I could give this place zero stars I would. My fiancée and I were stoked to try this place because of all the rave reviews, but stay far far away! They supposedly have a new sushi chef according to our waitress. Everything had way too much rice and very little in the centers. The menu is misleading in its description of multiple rolls. We've been hitting all the sushi places in Longview trying to find our "favorite", and this one gets a huge X. Never will give these guys a second look again.

C
Chelsea Smith

This place is way over priced. My husband and I came in around lunch today. Got seated and waited forever just to get are order taken. There were only 3 other table and only 1 person for all the tables. When we finally got our food the meat was hot but rice and noodle were cold. we were done and waited for our check of at less 10 min. Will never return becaus of the very poor serves

C
Cody Phifer

Terribly overpriced for food with no flavor or style. The asparagus was undercooked. The steak was flavorless and the chicken fried rice was bland. We were all completely dissatisfied. This place is not worth what you’ll pay for it.

B
Brandon Hiltzman

They used to be better. The service has dipped, and the prices are a little too high for a restaurant with paper menus, who also shares their building with 2 other businesses. Also since the last time i went prices have gone up. 2 out of 10, sorry gz cant do it again.

C
Curtis Smith

Ordered the USDA Prime Ribeye aged 28 days, was the worst steak I have ever ate, It was not even a good Select piece of meat, the only 28 days of aging was done in the freezer. Way overpriced for the quality of food.

B
Brad Roberson

Horrible experience. I don't think we will be back. Wrong prices on receipt, overcooked sushi rice, extremely over priced and stale desserts. 1/10 would not recommend.

D

We were looking to try a new sushi place and settled on giving this one a try. The bar inside looks cool with nice colored lightning but the quality of the food here was very disappointing for the price. We paid 60 dollars for our meal and honestly the sushi tasted like it was grocery store quality. There was too much rice used, it wasn't wrapped properly, and the taste was just not good. The crab bisque was 12 dollars a cup and had no crab meat in it at all. They just gave us two cups of creamy broth and it tasted bland. The inside was busy and it seems to be a pretty popular spot so I'm pretty disappointed in the quality of the food. I also believe they charge too much for he quality of the food that was served. If you are looking for a good quality sushi place, I would avoid GZ.

I'm only giving 1 star for this place. I would give no stars but I thought the waitress and the drink I had got a 1 star. I had heard only amazing things of this place. I heard about it on the radio, my friends, and I read the reviews that everyone said it was great food..... 1.We were seated right away at 5pm ✅ 2. We got our table drinks right away ✅ 3. Waitress took our order ✅ We ordered 2 prime rib stakes, a new york stake , 2 sushi rolls, fried rice, and noodles. *An hour later we got one sushi roll. The next came out 15 minutes later. 20 more minutes Our regular food came trickling out here and there. *** All 3 stakes were very rare, rice fried beon looking like rice and the noodles were not cooked all the way. The sushi was ok but not the greatest. And that drink i had took 45 minutes to get in the middle of all that. I know people have there bad days and I'm hoping that's what happened here.... that it was a bad day but I feel very let down and we spent a lot of money and I am left with a bad taste in my mouth. Sorry guys, but that's my review.

The $49 prime rib they served us was mostly just a hunk of fat, maybe 15% of the meat was actually edible. What I was served was not a top shelf cut of meat, and they honestly should have been embarrassed to serve that. We left the plate with a very big pile of chewed gristle on it.

$45 dry aged steak was NOT prime. Way too grisly and way under cooked. Also charged a 3.99% surcharge fee since we paid with a card. This policy should have been disclosed to us when we first got there. Waitress was friendly, attentive, and helpful.

Way overpriced . I had sea bass which was listed for $38 which is a typical price for sea bass. However, it was a very small portion and they charged me $4 to get mashed potatoes instead of rice and $12 for asparagus instead of mixed veggies and was not ever informed that there would be extra costs for these items. The waitress had told me that I could switch out whatever I wanted, but did not inform me that there was a charge. At $38 for the small sea bass, the sides should have been part of the meal. Also, every time I go there--the servers don't inform me of the "special" and after I've already ordered--I overhear a server tell another patron about the special and it is usually something that I definitely would have ordered. I will not be back. Barron's and Tuscan Pig are much better choices for fine dining in Longview. I wouldn't give this place 1 star--but it wouldn't let me post my review with no stars.

Went for a late lunch. Calamari was like rubber bands, could not even cut with a knife. Also comes covered in jalapenos onions and red chile's which would have been nice to know. Rainbow roll was warm. Not only all the fish on top, but the crab mixture in the middle. Tuna on top was visibly dry. When asked, server explained it was warm because he just made the mixture and it hasn't been refrigerated yet. Besides it was not raw items so it was fine. I have worked in the restaurant business for over 20 years and this was highly disappointing. Pretty sure I have food poisoning from one bite. Way overpriced for substandard food and service. I've had better sushi at Chinese buffets.

Walked in had a slight odor, should have deterred me, but didn't. Service was good, sushi was mediocre, the side of rice I ordered was terrible, I couldn't even finish it. The sake was good. Maybe they just had a bad day. If I ever try it again and have a better experience I'll change my rating.

My friend took me here for my Birthday. The food was absolutely terrible. The sushi was cold and sticky and tasted old and bland. We tried several appetizers including Crab Rangoons and Egg Rolls. My friend had oysters on the half shell and all were very unsatisfactory and barely edible. There was one other table at 8 pm on a Saturday night which should have been a forewarning. After spending $200 for two people, we were left with a big black man who looked like the dishwasher standing behind our table thanking us for coming because it was 10 minutes past closing time. I would have expected our waitress to “escort” us out, but found her talking loudly and negatively about us at the register for complaining about the food. I should have checked the restroom before dining, it was very nasty. Dirt and bugs on the counter tops and floor, everything dirty. Very bad sign. It made me sick to think what the kitchen must be like. It certainly wasn’t busy enough for the restrooms to be nasty. Awful experience. Awful food. I never leave reviews but this place was horrible. I can’t imagine how they stay in business.

Absolutely horrible service. First waitress brings out a drink but they said they had to replace the carbonation. Never comes back. Flags down a second waitress. Takes our food order and drink order. Never got a refill. When I finally asked another waitress she said they’d poured out the tea and couldn’t do refills. So I paid for a drink and got no refills. Service was really slow, too. Food was good though. So obviously the problem wasn’t with the kitchen staff.

I stopped by for a quick lunch by myself. I ordered miso soup, shrimp dumplings, bluefin sushi and “fatty salmon” sushi. The soup and dumplings came out as my appetizer and the miso soup was delicious. However, the shrimp dumplings were lackluster to say the least. The wrapper fell apart on the first one, it completely lacked flavor and the shrimp was overcooked. I tried a second one with extra dipping sauce, which was just sweet chili sauce. However, it did nothing to save the dumpling. The rice to fish ratio for the sushi was massive and the fish itself tasted fishy and not fresh. Each order of sushi came with two pieces and I ate one full piece of the bluefin, started the second half but had to spit it out. I bit the first “fatty salmon” in half but due to the fishy taste and tough texture I couldn’t even swallow and had to spit it out as well. If you know anything about sushi you could tell just by looking at it wasn’t salmon belly. I told my server how I didn’t like the dumplings and the “fatty salmon” sushi and showed that I didn’t eat it. But when I was brought the check both of them were still on the check. My server told me that the owners/managers don’t normally take items off the bill unless you don’t have the money for it. I requested the manager come speak with me if. When the manager arrived she stood one table away from me already with attitude asking what the issue was. I reiterated how little I ate of the dumplings and “salmon belly” and the exact reasons why I didn’t like each dish. She then asked why I didn’t like the bluefin, I told her that I never complained about the bluefin I was only concerned about the “salmon belly” and the shrimp dumplings. She didn’t respond, did an exasperated sigh and rolled her eyes. She walked off and took the two items off of my bill. Needless to say I will never be back and will tell everyone that asks to never go.

Goung Zhou is one of the few places that serves sushi in Longview, and I thought I would try it out. Bad decision. When I first walked in, it was nice and I was seated right away. I went there around 5:30pm on a Wednesday evening. I was led to my table by a server and I sat down. A moment later another server appeared and she took care of us. None of them told us their name though. We ordered our drinks and didn't order an appetizer. They handed us this plate with bread and butter on it. It was really strange and the butter was sweet. I ordered sushi and it took 18 minutes for my food. There was 5 tables and 2 had food already, so I'm not sure why it took so long. It came out lukewarm and tasted as if it came from a freezer. I had the Sabrina roll and the special California roll. I enjoy sushi, but I couldn't finish either one. The flavor was off and tasted like it was not fresh. I wouldn't come here again. The prices are all over the place with all types of foods and drinks. They served one wine that was $1,500 a bottle! Overall, they had decent service, meh food, and they have an automatic surcharge on your order if you pay with card. This was not worth my time nor my money.
