Opinions de Peet's Coffee Los Altos
Very friendly staff, lots of natural light, and plenty of seating. It should be noted that there are a limited number of outlets for those hoping to do some work in store, but it's still a great place to hang out for a bit with a delicious beverage.
When I gave my call name Alfred at the checkout, the barista asked “is it Alfred P?” I didn’t get the joke until I looked up Peet’s Wiki. The quality of the latte is good.
Large cafe. WiFi, lots of seating and electrical outlets
Went there for a promotion deal of one free drink all day, and although the place was really packed because of the promotion, they were able to get and make our orders real fast! With very good attitude too! Cool place
This is my local Peet's and I love it. It's a pretty small space but the employees there are always helpful and friendly. And the coffee is, of course, great.
This is your typical Peet's Coffee and Tea, located in downtown Los Altos. Friendly staff, clean bathrooms, and an all around nice place for a cup of coffee or hot drink while catching up with friends.
The atmosphere was pleasing and inviting. The customer service was awesome. They answered my questions knowledgeably and not judgy and the coffee was really good.
The staff is super friendly. I can't remark much on the food or coffee as I meet at this coffee shop for riding with a local cycling club. I have had many lovely conversation with the staff at Peet's though. They also have a washroom that is available to the public without needing to purchase something.
Oh Los Altos is a great setting for walking around and visiting different stores and restaurants. This Pete's is a nice coffee shop in a nice setting. The people were friendly, the coffee was great. I would go back to this Pete's. The cashier knew that I was bringing coffee to a person who was outside with his dog and gave us some water for the dog. This is the kind of service that you hope for but don't expect. Hats off to Pete's
Fast Reliable Service, clean comfortable environment, hot water for tea is the proper temperature, coffee is strong but not bitter. What else do we need? Snacks and breakfast sandwiches are top notch quality. The candy/confections make a nice sweet gift There is a nice outdoor seating area as well. Works for me!
This is my backup Peets, but the staff is so cool that sometimes I'll wait until my morning coffee is ready before making the trek here. It can be a little loud when it gets busy, but nothing crazy, and I've always been able to find seating.
I always enjoy coming here for my morning coffee. The drinks are consistently good, and the baristas are helpful.
Good space for studying. Lots of outlet. Usually pretty crowded and small tables. I have consistently received good service here.
Run run as fast as you can to this great community hangout in Los Altos. The gingerbread cookies are only here during the winter holiday months, but all year you'll find friendly locals and a nice balance of space to read, work, or just visit with a friend.
Lunch on the run. The holiday spice latte is spot on. Not overly sweet and doesn’t taste like candy. Will probably be my go-to drink this fall.
A spacious Peet's in downtown Los Altos with fast service and spacious indoor seating area. It's good for reading or working on a laptop. Doesn't get too crowded. The coffee is consistent Peet's quality.

The coffee here's really good. The baristas really know the difference between a latte and a cappuccino and they also know how to get your specs into the coffee. Definitely a great place to go.
I ordered a decaf drip, which needed to be made. The cashier brushed me off for the next customer and I did not know where my coffee would be when it was finished and she didn't seem to understand my question. I've had this happen at different Pete's coffee locations where usually I pick up my drip coffee from the cashier. After a couple of exchanges I learned I needed to pick up my coffee where the specialty coffees are made.
Clean and well kept but the staff working that day seemed either overwhelmed, or at the very least, irritated with eachother. Service was impersonal and disconnected. But, they got the order right, and did it quick. Overall a good experience.
It’s a very good and consistent coffee house. Have liked Peet’s since when they first opened in Berkeley. Is the best coffee in the world? No... but personally rank it higher than Starbucks. Have appreciated their innovative coffee and cappuccino additions to their menu. Also find their bakery goods to be solid.
Favorite Peet's location amongst Peninsula locations. Compared to MV or PA Peet's, consistently good cup of drip or chai. Foamed/steamed milk technique better than other locations. Staff does a pretty good job keeping place clean. Never have to ask and wait for napkin (or stirrer, etc.) dispenser to be filled. Had an almond croissant the other day and it was pretty fresh, no day old taste here. Cozy place to sit down with lots of tables. Come early in the morning if you are wanting to settle in with your laptop, as there can be competition later in the day.
Standard Peet's. Bathroom has been closed quite a few times (it's almost like they rely on Safeway across the corner when they don't want to clean it), and 30 minutes before closing, they kind of start rushing you out. The drinks here are very good, as much as can be expected from a coffee chain, but I've experienced far better service at other locations.
Coffee is tastier than the competition. The location on State Street is spacious and airy. Outside seating is quite limited, with uncomfortable metal chairs and no sun.
Go-to neighborhood Peet's. I'm probably here more often than anywhere else with the exception of my home and my office The outside seating is pretty great for watching people or getting some fresh air although there are only about four tables and they can be hard to get. Also the inside seating can fill up on busy weekends. What's not to like? The menu is kind of limited, but I assume anybody coming here knows what they like. The boxed cheese and crackers at $6+ plus are kind of a joke, but of course that's a Peet's thing. The heated breakfast sandwiches can be hit and miss while they iron those recipes out over the course of multiple years (somewhat amusingly). Of course I'm nit-picking with that. What do you really come here for? The coffee, of course, and a place to sit and talk/read/look out at the world.
Friendly guys working the counter. The bathroom was gross dirty though
I got a large chai latte and it was yummy, but I had to take off a star because my cup was not filled the whole way and it wasn’t very hot. Everyone working was very kind and the drink came out relatively quick though!
It's a standard Peet's. Highly recommend their seasonal turmeric coffee, it has a special name but I can't remember. Don't do chai latte, too sweet and not creamy. Starts to be busy around 8:30 to 9. Limited parking in the front. It's just at the corner of the intersection. To get out, you can go behind the shop to find the way out to San Antonio, then go through the intersection.
Great coffee and great team at Peet's Los Altos. Espresso is excellent, but strong so not for everyone. While the shop is often too busy for this, on occasion baristas like Annabelle and Laticia give us some "Foam Art" as well. P.S. Back to having real cups for sit down customers.

A reasonable place for meet-up as it's easy from Hwy 280 or Foothill Blvd, and splits the commute between Peninsulans and South Bay people. Often crowded. Outside seating frequently the only option. Usual Peet's offerings.
The vibes were off at this location. Me and my Girlfriend both ordered Matcha pumpkin latte's. If I was blind folded, I don't think I could tell the difference between our drinks and some half and half creamer. Neither of us felt comfortable to reorder our drinks even tho they were made wrong because of the atmosphere created by the two workers 👎
Don't hate, but I feel the much-loved local Peets is a bit overrated. Hit and miss espressos suggest varied barista skills. And they could use less bitter coffee.
Been coming to many Peet's all over town forever. This one is different, service is getting worse and drinks are not made as per specs. Was first in line with a drink to get it remade and seems as if the baristas sensed it. One of them was just hanging out with another and did not come over. Ultimately when one of them did, they were not too happy with my polite request. I have the same drink everyday from Peet's across town and it was too strong and different from everywhere. Barista was pretty sure that he made it the way it is to be made. He did relent but there was no need for that. It is pretty noisy here as well. Perhaps need a few dampeners or insulation on the wall? Not sure. There is 1 bathroom and there seems to be a demand for it. I have generally found it not too clean. Understand that some of the blame goes to customers who leave a little of them behind ...... Overall, feel that there needs to be a little more retraining. And Perhaps a little quieter... PS: internet speed test sometimes tells me download speed is 1 Mb / sec or less. Perhaps a lot of users... I'll edit if if things improve.
The usual Peets coffee and food which I like. Inside is bigger than most. Atmosphere is mostly good but it is one of the noisiest coffee places I’ve been at - not from people talking but just the noise from making coffee and other work being done. Acoustics must be bad. Difficult to have a conversation.
This Peet's is one of the ones thats been in this area the longest. Though I think with that comes a certain smugness, as every time I've gone to this Peet's, none of the employees have been particularly nice. I don't go to this Peet's often and given it is in the middle of downtown Los Altos, I understand a certain amount of thick skin is required to deal with the sort of customer they may encounter. Except that I also go to the Peet's in Menlo Park quite frequently and the staff there are extremely friendly! It is still a nice location but also we sat outside last time we were there and the sidewalk underneath the outside tables was very messy. Some garbage and spilled coffee on the floor.
I've always been a big fan of Peet's. They have some really good roasts that I will sometimes use to make espresso at home, and they always steam the milk properly. Unfortunately, this location is not one of those. They have the roasts, but the milk steaming needs some work. I stopped in for a cortado just now, and the moment the cup hit my hand, I could feel the energy of a billion neutron stars radiating through the heavy paper. Steaming milk is admittedly difficult, which is why you'll invariably end up with scalded milk when ordering lattes and the like from Starbucks. I get the impression that so many "baristas" these days have been improperly trained to steam milk, and the vast majority of customers, even those that consider themselves quite knowledgeable about coffee, wouldn't know the difference between scalded and steamed. Maybe the barista is new or having an off day. Whatever the reason, I'll probably avoid this location in the future.
The drinks, when they finally came out, were very good. Delivery was slow because 1) there was only one barista at 1000 and 2) mobile orders continuously trumped store orders. I wanted to get a pound of Holiday Blend - the clerk acknowledged my request and then wandered off with samples and never returned to get my coffee. Not the best Peet's experience.

They took away seating and boy is it slow. Like hire more staff already- you raised prices enough.
Used to be a terrific place, but since the pandemic, they've shortened their hours and seem to care more about having employees out the door at 6pm rather than serving customers. Pastries are packed away more than 2 hours before closing. If you arrive 15 minutes before closing, it is a toss-up whether they'll make a beverage for you or ignore you for 5 minutes and then say the espresso machines are already turned off and being cleaned. Palo Alto (Town & Country), Menlo Park, and San Leandro are still good, but the Los Altos and Sunnyvale locations don't seem to care about customers.
Whenever I went to peets coffee, I used to ask for lates or mochas but I stopped doing it because they don't know how to make coffee like they used to. Now I only buy coffee beans. The last time I spoke to a manager, she told me that they hire people all the time. The batistas who make good coffee are gone now they have new people with no experience. it is really disappointing.
I generally like Peets, but I'm sitting in this store and they have gangster rap - I can pick out words such as B**ches and Ni**ers (by what sounds to be a black man none-the-less), and at the moment there are kids in here (two, appearing to be ~4 and ~7 y/o). I was told that they can't turn off the song as it's on the radio. I'm really surprised this kinds of stuff is on Peets playlists of acceptable radio/playlists.

I'm a huge Peet's fan, but this is consistently THE slowest coffee shop I've ever been to!
Very rude service, barista was on her phone throughout the entire order didn't seem to care at all. She started a conversation with a co-worker and left us standing there while we tried to make an order. We asked for here cups but never got any. First and Last time I will be going to pete's
We had Peet’s coffee delivered via Doordash, and while the drinks came sealed so I don’t believe it was the dasher, our medium cups were filled halfway which is pretty ridiculous. The drinks had a seal on them so it would have been impossible for them to be spilled via transport, which means they’re only filled halfway for some reason unbeknownst to me
I experienced a form of discrimination at this store. I ordered a small cup of drip coffee as usual. As almost people know, dip coffee is item that is supposed to be served very quickly. However, the server ignored my order. Even when I reminded her, she served another peoples's order first, which was simple item like drip coffee. When I remind her of my order again, server just said sorry. What a wonderful world of discrimination based on color. People should know that human can feel discrimination regardless of their fluency in English.
The coffee cups leak at the seam! That’s its one job not to leak but nope. Lattes come out different every time , sometimes good, sometimes terrible. They favor making online orders before walk in customers. Another corporate chain fail. Avoid this location, although it is popular with all the senior citizens in Los Altos so if that’s your crowd then maybe it’s for you!
I’ve been coming to this peet’s for over a decade. I don’t know what has changed with hiring but the service is so so bad. They’ve lost my mobile order multiple times and messed up my order even more times. The final straw was today’s visit - over 30 minute wait time for the wrong order. Don’t see how we can keep coming here.
The mobile order priority leaves you seething. Sure, why not do the same yourself? Same reason you should avoid the airport Clear system - it's just rude. The people actually there in the store should take priority over the giddy high schoolers and pickle baller drop ins that force you to wait in an otherwise almost empty Peets as the 40 mobile orders that came in ahead of you take precedence. I love Peets. I hate hate hate mobile orderers.
These guys don’t know how to make a cortado coffee. They haven’t invested in training their staff. Usually, the cortado at Peet’s is my favorite, but the Los Altos branch has really missed the mark.
Can’t be only about location. They don’t even know how to make a decent cappucino they sell for more than $5.
Visited on 9/18 at 11:00 am. 10+ people waiting for drinks. Took 18 minutes to received a Double Latte, extra foam, extra hot. Two baristas but they struggled to get in front of the rush of orders.
