I hate pickles… but this chicken sandwich with pickles on it completely changed my life! I don’t know what kind of magic Johnny’s Pastrami in California is working, but this sandwich was unreal — crispy, juicy, full of flavor, and the pickles somehow made it even better (and I never say that). The fries? Ridiculously good. We also tried the Johnny’s Fries — absolute game changer. If you haven’t been here yet, stop what you’re doing and go. Trust me, it’s worth every bite.

Great spot for Pastrami lovers, first visit to this place as it’s my favorite sandwich I thought why not give it a try. We loved it the flavor was spot on, the bread is excellent. We tried 2 different sandwiches the tartine marble rye nicely toasted, and the second one was pastrami French dip on a French roll comes with either coleslaw or potato salad. Both sandwiches were delicious. I will highly recommend this place.

Ordered a classic pastrami dip and side. When I got home discovered it hadn't been dipped and no dip was included, besides no classic condiments included. BUMMER! Very tasty , tender meat though. Also, place has GREAT atmosphere.

For vegetarians, the Green Goddess Salad is pretty legit and tasty. It’s not boring or your typical salad. Highly recommend. Another amazing selection is their Banana Cream Pie, one of the best I’ve ever had. The amount of whipped cream balances out the sweetness of the caramel drizzled on top. And the best part was the toasted almond slices that were truly the cherry on top. Simple, delicious. My only complaint was that there wasn’t enough crust! No crust at bottom of pie and barely any on the sides. Nonetheless, I’ll be ordering this dessert again. There’s a whole ‘another bar space right next door and plenty of outdoor patio dining space. Can’t wait to come here again.

The pastrami burnt ends were tasty. They didn't taste dry. The sandwiches were huge. There was so much pastrami; we could have made an extra sandwich. The outdoor seating is very nice. The tavern part only opens at night, but the dance floor looks inviting.

I loved it here. I came during n lunch time and there were about three people ahead of me, but I still got my food pretty fast. I ordered the pastrami, it was delicious and definitely recommend it. The back part of this place is such a nice vibe, really well taken care of and just a nice relaxing place to eat during a quick lunch break!

Nice reuben, get the whole. Lots of things to try on the menu. It's worth the visit. The smores soft serve ice cream is a must do. Ask for it without the lid because it ruins the burnt topping presentation. I'm definitely going back to try other things...

The food here is spectacular. Worth a stop if you are anywhere in the area. The pastrami (sliced or chopped) is full of flavor and so soft and delicious they give you a healthy batch. Was less impressed with the brisket sandwich but certainly it was tasty. They give you a large portion of fries (the thick kind) though I would recommend the onion rings as a side. Don't forget to ask for your pickle slices. You will take a hit to the wallet but well worth it.

The atmosphere was really nice and best at night. Service was ok but could be much better if they have someone assigned to delivers. We (with a friend of mine who knows about these cuisines better) ordered the matzo ball soup and French dip. I didn’t love them and they were even a bit worse than mediocre. However the banana deserves surprised me and I think I should go again and order the right thing (pastrami).

I am extremely dissatisfied with the recent changes at Johnnie's Pastrami. The price has increased ($18), and the sandwich is now half the size. I remember being able to eat half and save the other for later, and purchase another bun. Now it’s the size of a hotdog bun. 😒 Johnnie's Pastrami west Adams shame on you, yall wrong for this i’ll rock with y’all through gentrification, and I had hope for you 👎🏽 I posted my sandwich that I had over a year ago 2-20-24 versus the sandwich I had today 10-6-25 big difference just skimpy I guess I need to go to the in Culver’s city now. And they stingy on their fries

Long time customer, first time review. Ive been eating here since long before the renovation. This place used to be a staple for me and my family. I'm not sure if its shrinkflation, or terrible circumstances, but my last visit was terrible. To start, my food took an extra 20 minutes due to a large order they were filling. If you know anything or this location, you know parking isn't the greatest. I was picking up on the way home with my kiddo as well, so this made the delay even more frustrating. Get home and I feel like the portions shrank from just a few weeks ago. I understand we are all suffering in this economy, but it still sucks. I open my chicken tenders and where there used be to 3 beautiful cuts, were 2 measley ones. They were so small, they even changed the box they used to come in. They used to come in a rectangular box, to hold their massive, juicy goodness. Now they come in a square box. Once again, I understand we are all suffering, but maybe dont skimp on the food, and spend on these ridiculously nice take out boxes. Branding at its finest. Name and location. I dont need this on my take out. What I need are my beautiful, juicy, thick chicken strips. This is a sad day indeed 😢 Pictures attached, amd dipping sauce for scale of chicken tender size

Extremely salty pastrami, got the pastrami stack on rye. First bite almost takes you back on how salty the sandwich is, not sure if its a different chef then the intentional sandwich but I was Extremely disappointed on how all I could think of was the salt overwhelming any sort of flavor. Got the kinish 5/10 again over salted takes away from the good flavor. Coleslaw 6/10 good flavor too much salt, please tell the sous chefs to be light handed on the salt for the love of christ,best thing i ordered was the grilled cheese again over kill on salt, spent 50 bucks on a jar of mortons salt and some flavor, hard pass for me in the future,happy I tried it but that will be the last time, until the salty factor goes down tremendously.

This prices are to expensive in the hood. You can go across the street and get the food much cheaper. I sent 60.00 dollars for 2 pastrami and French fries and 2 drinks. I ask for some pickles and they wanted me to pay extra for pickles. I spent 60.00 dollars on pastrami and fries and drinks and I couldn't get pickles. This is very sad. My aunt told me when she went 2 weeks ago and had a pastrami burger 🍔 she had a hair in her burger. Please don't waste your money.
