Fast casual spot for chicken katsu sandos and plates. Delicious! Great option

I'd been wanting to try this place for so long! It was everything I hoped it would be. Delicious!! Definitely get the OMG & Wagyu Curry dipping sauces!

Shrimp Sando is amazing! Don't sleep on the spicy sauce either. 100/10 would eat again

Wow this place is great. You have tor try it . Great options and all delicious. The comfort you need to get through this pandemic.

Nicely executed kakigori! Not too sweet, perfectly balanced flavors for this fig ricotta kakigori. Please don’t try to eat kakigori standing. I dropped the top of the ice mountain, but the kind Katsu Sando folks gave my friend and I more ricotta espuma and even two pieces of caramelized fig. Thank you.

The menchi katsu and chicken katsu sando’s were great. As was the seasonal fruit. Very happy we found this place.

Hands down one of the best chicken sandwiches you can get in LA, that first crispy juicy bite of the chicken and add the sauce sheeeesh, super fire, super dope, yes would recommend and would go back, this place is awesome for those chicken sandwich connoisseurs or even a great foodie, check the place out, pricing was fair and the wait wasn't long, and if you think it takes long it's cause great things take time!!!

J
Jonathan Cheng

Wow! Outstanding, beautifully packaged sandwiches. I came here on multiple occasions and definitely preferred the original katsu to the menchi. The menchi felt like a not as greasy burger but the katsu is crunchy, warm, and tasty. Use the sauce in moderation as the sandwich itself already has some great tastes. Don't wait too long to eat it or else the bread gets soggy. Would recommend.

One of the best sandwiches i’ve ever had. I got the honey walnut shrimp sandwich and it was amazing. Unfortunately, I devoured it before I could get a picture. You should also try the onigiri and fruit sando.

L

My favorite place to go to if I have a craving for katsu sandos. Got to get the curry chizou fries so bomb!

Honestly the best Sando place I been to in a hot minute. This shop is discreetly hidden on a busy street in LA's Chinatown. I can't believe I've walked by it without noticing it before. The chicken was huge like it was bigger than the bread. The sauce, pickles, bulgogi onigiri and egg salad were to die for. Definitely coming back again.

J
Joseph Hoffman

Damn good Sando. Got the Menchi Katsu Sando and it was delicious and filling. The onigiri is pretty good, too. Definitely get the wagyu curry dip and the curry cheese fries

I always love Katsu shrimp burger and their Katsu shrimp sandwich is 100% the best I've ever tried. Also love the Umeshu soda. It really makes my day!

Very delicious- got the Shrimp Sando .. sauce is great.. like the added walnuts.. and very good quality shrimp. Quite inventive - never seen a shrimp sandwich like this before!!

The chicken katsu sando was delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked, it was crispy and juicy. No places to sit but they have a standing area to eat.

S

Great takeout location serving sizable Kastu style sandwiches. We had the Pork Katsu Sando and Curry Cheese Fries. Both were delicious!

C
Chloe Cho

The pork katsu sando 🤤 unbelievably tender but still had the perfect amount of bite. If you’re lucky, you can enjoy their shaved ice with lychee, rose-condensed milk whip, and coconut-lime-lychee jelly (limited availability). So good on a hot day. This isn’t a sit down spot but they have a little bar where you can stand and enjoy your food. Easy $5 parking in any of the near by lots

N
Nate Wooding

This place is solid. Friendly employees, solid food. A bit on the pricey side for what you get but not crazy

N
Nicole Ridgely

I thought the sandwiches were going to be small but they were hefty sandos! I had the chicken and it was divine. Splurge and get the curry fries! So tasty. Couldn’t finish everything but I have leftovers for later. The staff was very kind too!

Wow. Absolutely delicious! I had the special, a softshell crab sando loaded up with tobiko. The fluffy toasty bread, the sauce, the hot fresh fried crab combined to be a fantastic flavor 🦀 I just left and want to go back already!

This is a hidden gem! My first time here. If you know, you know! I bumped into this hidden gem shopping in Chinatown (LA) w/mom. I was starved and happen to park right in front of it. Meter parking. Walked in checked it out - ordered the Honey Almond Shrimp Katsu Sandwich. OMG!! It was soooooo good! I could taste the bit of sweet from the honey then the almond and finally the shrimp katsu, i mean it was bursting with flavor, hot ans fresh off the grill! I have to say, do get ready to get messy....but it definitely worth it!

A

Absolutely loved the food. The service was nice and helpful. The katsu was flavorful and juicy. The portion of food you get for the price you pay was great as well. I would highly recommend going here for a quick tasty lunch.

Shrimp sandwich was heavenly. Chicken sandwich was just as good. Fries have been crispy and hot. Sauces are worth getting. So get the sauces.

Listen Family if you’re ever in LA, Chinatown to be exact, come check them out . I Ordered the Original with the waffle fries & the kimchi brown butter Sandos. This was my first time here with my sister & it definitely didn’t disappoint my lunch craving. The sandos they make here are delicious & juicy. So do yourself & your taste buds a favor and come get a Sando or Katsu plates. 🤤❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥💯

Holy wow this place was DELICIOUS! I got the shrimp sando and my friend got the chicken sando (he had never heard of or had a sandwich like that before and still talks about to this day). The shrimp sando was soooo good! Perfectly worked with walnuts and a light sweet glaze. The whole sandwich was constructed nicely and didn’t fall apart. We got cheese waffle fries and curry to share, omg it was so good. The spicy dipping sauce they give is so very nice! 10/10 experience. We ate standing with was nice because we work in an office, the ambiance in the location was really nice, it’s small and you will miss it if you are paying attention. Free parking in that area in general at certain times of the day is awful so be prepared to pay for it. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area.

I saw they were hosting a pick up only special pork and cheese sando and I had already been planning a visit so the stars aligned. The sandwich was huge! And very tasty. The cheese was generous and was spilling over. Easily the messiest (in a good way) sandwich I ever ate in my car. I'll need to get a tray to stash in my car for meals like this. To go with the sandwich I had a side of curry dip. It was addictive but also was a big reason why this was a messy meal. I also tried the chicken sando. Very tasty. Everything was fresh, very filling and very tasty.

I AM TELLING YOU, Katsu Sando is undeniably so freaking good. Regardless of the location, the food is done so well and the service is always so quick as well. I fell in love with the San Gabriel location and after talking to one of the members of the owning family, I followed their IG and saw that they were opening one in Chinatown. Lots of respect to opening their second location in a dying neighborhood. It’s great to see business trying to revive Chinatown. The food came out so hot and was delicious. I could tell they used better quality eggs as the egg yolk was a darker orange color. Tater tots were fried to a perfect crisp. Will be coming back soon.

Amazing Japanese sandwiches on perfectly baked milk bread and also convenient store-style treats! Had the pork sando and the honey walnut shrimp, both were super fresh and tasty! Don't sleep on the onagiri either, had the pork kimchi one and it was so good!

I was looking for a quick bite around the area and found this place on the map. At first glance, the menu looked a little pricey, but after seeing how big the sandwich is, I would say it's worth the price. I ordered a pork katsu sando and the meat was thick and juicy, perfectly cooked. It's much bigger and thicker than many other places. The sando was delicious and the flavor was just right with the tonkatsu sauce and the Cole slaw mixed into it. I also tasted a bit of yuzu pepper too, which gave it a nice flavor enhancement. Will definitely come back here again to try the other meats!

Quick bite katsu sandwhich place. Good spot to people watch and eat a sandwich. I lost appetite recently and haven't been eating well, but the sadwich was so good, I finished it on the spot. I got chicken katsu assuming it will be dry chicken breast but it was actually juicy. They have counter space next to the window where you can rest your tray and eat standing up. No tables and no chairs. I went for a casual lunch date and to explore china town. Definitely would go back.

Yum yum yum!!! Not only are the hot sandwiches DELICIOUS but the premade ones are EXCELLENT as well! Be sure to grab some for later/ next day. I can’t decide if my favorite is Menchi or Chicken Katsu or Egg Salad or the Wagyu. So I usually get them ALL! 😁😂😁 but usually something is already sold out. So act fast!

I ordered the Menchi Katsu Curry and it was delicious. The menchi katsu was nice and crispy with a good flavor to it. The curry that came with it was also nice and savory which paired well with the rice. I also got a seasonal fruit sando and that was very nice as well with fresh fruit. For a snack I got a bulgogi onigiri and when it was also very good. All the items I got were exceptional and I'll definitely be stopping by there again.

so delicious! i got a spicy crab onigiri, chicken katsu sando, potato salad, and a peach cider and it was exactly what I was craving! the sandwiches definitely live up to the hype, if i could eat this again before leaving LA, I would :-)

Everything was good, but I can’t stop dreaming about the Pork Katsu Sando. I just had the same thing from Moon Rabbit, and while it was decent it pails in comparison to this one. This place isn’t cheap but what you’re getting isn’t cheap either. The egg salad sandwich is kind of small and pricey, yet heavenly. If you’ve ever lived in Asia and have experienced eating 7-Eleven/Family Mart sandwiches, you owe it to yourself to try the pinnacle of what one could be at least once in your life. *I forgot to take any pictures of the food or the place after a Sunday hike and so please humbly accept this photo of their sticker I proudly put on my water bottle

Small restaurant but the sandwiches were quite delicious and filling. We got the strawberry shortcake with it and that was far below standards. It was basically just bread, whipped cream, and strawberries. Otherwise would definetely recommend

I had the pork katsu sandwich! It was filling, to say the least! The pork cutlet was very thick and sandwiched between two pieces of white bread and a slaw. It was like a fusion of Japanese and Western cuisine in a neat wrapper!

J

Can be easily missed if not looking closely. Ordered honey walnut shrimp. At first glance i thought it might be underwhelming - but after first bite i was taken aback. Quality toast and shrimp in every bite. A sandwich alone was filling which says a great deal, i regret not ordering the pickles of the day as they would likely have added to the sandwich. Worth trying.

This is straight food review based on having this delivered from Caviar/Doordash! I can't fairly rate the atmosphere and service here on Google. Even with an average wait of about ~45 minutes from order placement to delivery, the food was still warm and fresh feeling! I scarfed down the mushroom katsu sando, and their whole crispy and lightly fried portobello mushroom is meaty and satisfying. It really was quite a filling meal-sized sandwich on its own and the frisee, yuzu-kosho slaw, katsu sauce, and true star of the show: the honey milk bread made it a sandwich worthy of reviewing. I can't wait to go back and try the chicken katsu sando. I had some green tea to drink and the addictive wagyu curry cheese fries. The kewpie mayo and aonori elevate the seasoned fries. Their house sauce was addictive and I spread it on my sandwich and fries. It's spicy and deliciously subtly sweet, and they use gochujang, mayo, and citrus. I'll be back to scope out this place in person!

Went yesterday and they were pretty busy so the wait time was maybe like 10 mins not too bad at all! The aesthetic of the place / marketing is really cute that’s why it caught my eye. I’m a vegetarian so I got the mushroom Sando ~ overall it was good! I’m surprised they used portabello mushroom instead of oyster, it was still good not soggy. I do think the sandwiches could use a little more sauce, I think I just had ketchup on mine. It was pretty good overall but I feel like for the price it could be even better!

A
Alex DeMartino

We got the wagyu beef sandwich and the chicken sandwich. The beef was better as it was not as dry as the chicken. The sauce has a good kick to it when it's by itself but on the sandwiches it just adds a nice flavor. This place is definitely on the expensive side for a sandwich.

We were ok with the taste of menchi katsu -waited around fifteen minutes (no one else was waiting and I didn’t see any pick ups )

It's a good spot for hungers on a day out in Chinatown. The walnut shrimp sando is delicious, and paired with a chilled drink it's a pretty good combination. The chicken sando gave generous portion of chicken and the bread stayed crispy. The OMG sauce is a light spicy blend but didn't give enough flavor bombing as Dave's or Daybird's sauce. The chizu fries have nori flakes and kewpie mayo seasoned on top with a tub of nacho cheese Japanese curry fusion sauce (a ton of sauce). Also generously sized. But the chicken sandwich and fries didn't blow us away. You'll need to ask for napkins and utensils. Altogether two sandwiches, fries, and a drink came out to $42, which seems to hit the pricier sandwich stops.

Katsu Sando is a fast casual sandwich shop that specializes in Japanese sandwiches. This place is located in at the United Foods Plaza food court in 📍Chinatown, Los Angeles. @eatswithedith on IG 🍽️Ordered: 1. Honey walnut shrimp sando 2. Pork katsu sando 3. Mont Blanc kakigori The shrimp sando was rly unique as I’ve never had a fried shrimp sandwich like this before. The shrimp was tender & the honey walnuts added a beautiful sweetness and crunchiness to the dish. Originally I wanted to try this place for their kakigori but I was pretty let down by it 😔 the ice was pretty melted already and the water chestnut purée wasn’t my favorite.. Overall, I think I hyped this place up a lot in my head but it didn’t really live up to it when I finally tried it. Would probably order the shrimp sandwich again if I ever crave it. 💡Tips: -There’s no seating here so be prepared to either get it to go or door dash! -wouldn’t recommend this place with a big group unless you did a picnic at a park nearby 💰Price: $45 for meal ( 😞)

We were very looking forward to Katsu Sando and were a little let down with their signature item. We ordered the pork katsu sando ($13.95) and snow crab korrokke roll ($19.95). The pork katsu sando was fatty, so BF spent a good amount of time separating the fat from the meat. The snow crab was our favorite of the two and pretty fresh. It's pretty small inside for dining, as they have a long table against the window for you to enjoy your order right then and there, albeit standing. Not ideal for large groups, so it's more of a grab and go place. We were hoping this to satisfy our Japan sando cravings, but it's not quite up to the real deal in Japan. Parking can be hard here if you come during peak times. Try street parking or one of the paid lots.

Restroom photo taken across the street where you will be directed if you ask to use the restroom after standing through your eating session. Food was mediocre. For the price it should have been “amazing”.
