Opinions de Origin Korean BBQ Los Angeles
This was my third time visiting Origin Korean BBQ, and it just keeps getting better. The quality of the meat is consistently top-notch, and the staff always makes us feel taken care of. The banchan was fresh, the grill stayed clean thanks to quick service, and everything came out fast even though the restaurant was busy. At this point, Origin is officially my go-to Korean BBQ spot. Can’t wait for visit number four.
Our experience at Origin Restaurant was amazing. In particular, the Beef Tartare is one of my favorite dishes and it is the best tasting than any other restaurant. You must try it. And the seasoning of the ribs is so delicious and the meat is so soft that it melts in your mouth. In particular, the soybean paste ramen I ate at the end was so delicious that I couldn't stop even though I was full after eating all the meat. The staff who grilled the meat so deliciously in front of a hot fire were so friendly that I felt very happy while I was at the restaurant. I want to go every day.
We got the small for two option with some kimchi fried rice. And that was more than enough for the both of us. Our server was very nice and helpful. The atmosphere is great to hangout. I went to meet with a family member and catch up. I would highly recommend coming here and would go back again.
They set the table with a variety of complimentary sides, including a generous serving of corn cheese. The $95 Small Origin Special Set includes four types of meat with steamed eggs, beef ramen, and fresh lettuce with shiso leaves. We also tried beef japchae and a crispy seafood pancake loaded with squid and clams. The highlight was the attentive service, with staff grilling the meat for us, making the meal incredibly enjoyable.
This Korean BBQ spot caught my attention after hearing that Blackpink's Lisa visited! It’s at the old Kang Ho Dong location. We tried the Beef Set and the Marinated Bone-In Galbi. Both were amazing—juicy, tender, and perfectly grilled for us by the staff, which made the experience super relaxing. The Shikhye Rice Punch paired perfectly with the savory meat. It’s a little pricier, about $80 per person, but definitely worth every penny.
Oh my goodness! What a pleasant surprise! We had done a Google search for a Korean restaurant and this one was next door. After comparing both, we decided to come here, best decision! We were welcomed right away! By the time we were sat, our table already had the accompaniments of the meal and cheesy corn cooking! All the servers were great, making sure we had everything we needed! When we thought we were full, we were surprised with a noodle soup and soy meat! Come prepared for a lot of tasty food! The only extra item we ordered was kimchi fried rice, all else already included! Highly recommend!
Origin Korean BBQ, formerly known as Baekjeong, has undergone a transformation, but the quality has only improved! The original owner and team are still here, and the new menu is better than ever. Even Blackpink's LISA and GOD's Kim Tae Woo have dined here! We tried the Origin Special Set ($95), which includes four types of premium meats, steamed egg, and a brisket hotpot with noodles. The Garlic Seasoned PRIME Short Rib was incredibly tender, the PRIME Beef Brisket*stood out with its quality, and the PREMIUM Thin Pork Bellywas a must-try—beautifully sliced and perfectly crispy. The Marinated PRIME Bulgogi was also a highlight. Don’t miss the Seafood Pancake and Kimchi Fried Rice—both were delicious. Plus, they offer fresh perilla leaves, which are a rare treat at KBBQ spots!
I went to this place three years ago and man, they really stepped up their game. First, Joyce was our server, her hospitality was impeccable and she was incredibly friendly. The quality of the food was very much improved from my last visit. The sides like corn cheese, fried jalapenos, and potatoes were even on point. I'll be back.
A must goto kbbq in ktown, one of the best in terms of service and quality. This restaurant is perfect for family dinner or hang out spots, where they cook everything into perfect condition and I ordered their origin special set for 95 for 2 people. The meat quality was amazing and cannot forget about the end finishing with a hot soup ramen. Loved this restaurant will definitely come back!
Origin Korean BBQ in LA really impressed me. The meat quality was top-notch—especially the marinated short rib and pork belly, which were fresh and well-seasoned. Service was fast and attentive; the staff came by often to help with grilling and refilling side dishes. The banchan selection was solid, and the kimchi & steamed egg were standouts. The ambience is modern and clean, making it a comfortable place even during busy hours. The only downside is the wait time during peak periods, but the overall experience definitely makes it worth it. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quality K-BBQ night.
I had an amazing dinner at Origin Korean BBQ. The food was incredibly fresh, and the flavors were outstanding. The service was top-notch; our server expertly grilled the tender meat, enhancing both its appearance and taste. The environment was clean and welcoming, adding to the overall experience. Also good was the seafood pancake--crispy and delicious, it was the perfect complement to the meal. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for quality Korean BBQ!
Hands-down one of the best KBBQ in Koreatown! From the moment you step in, the ambiance sets the tone—modern, clean, and welcoming. The staff is incredibly attentive, making sure your grill is always in perfect shape and cooking your meat. The quality of the meat is exceptional. My favorite is the garlic prime rib. The meat is very tender and juicy. The kimchi fried rice is so flavorful.
Tried the new Origin Korean BBQ in Koreatown and loved it! We ordered the $95 Origin Special Set, perfect for three people. The Beef Set includes prime rib eye (juicy and thick), prime brisket (thin and tender, great with lettuce wraps), and marinated bulgogi (sweet and flavorful). The staff grills everything for you, and they’re super friendly. Sides include cheesy corn, steamed egg, and beef brisket ramen with a spicy broth. We also got a crispy seafood pancake with fresh squid and shrimp. Great quality and variety, though expect a wait during dinner. Parking tip: Park at Equitable Plaza for $5 instead of the pricey Chapman Market lot.
This authentic Korean barbecue restaurant in Koreatown transports guests to the ambiance and experience of 1960s Seoul. It has retro industrial vibes and showcases vintage Korean posters, concrete walls, and retro vintage lighting. We chose the Large Specialty Set for four, which included beef brisket, pork belly, short rib, seasoned short rib, bulgogi, and an array of delicious side dishes and salads. A standout was the soybean beef brisket ramen at the end—a delightful surprise. The quality of the meats was exceptional, with the pork belly and brisket being particularly outstanding, practically melting in our mouths. The service was impeccable, with our table prepared perfectly before we sat. The exquisite food, attentive service, and captivating ambiance created an unforgettable dining experience. I highly recommend this spot to all Korean BBQ enthusiasts!
This Korean BBQ place is a must-try! The meat is top-notch, especially the pork belly, which is so tender and flavorful. I also loved their seafood pancake—it was crispy on the outside and loaded with fresh ingredients. The quality of the food, combined with great service, made the whole experience memorable. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for delicious Korean BBQ!
We came because of BLACKPINK’s Lisa, and the experience totally exceeded our expectations! The interior has a stylish retro-industrial vibe, and there’s a wooden plaque with Lisa’s signature on the wall—definitely a must-snap spot for fans. What we loved most was the tableside grilling service—no need to cook anything ourselves, which made the meal super relaxing. Even the menu is designed like a newspaper—very creative! Great atmosphere and friendly service. Highly recommended!
One of our fave spots for kbbq. The thin pork belly is top tier and we have not really seen it anywhere else. The steamed eggs are always good. The sides are all good quality and really enhances all the main dishes. We’ve been coming here since they opened and we’ll keep returning :)
The four-person set meal at this place is really generous in portion. And now, if you tell the waiter "show me the origin", they will give you an extra serving of beef and mixed vegetables!!! I love to wrap it in perilla leaves and add some garlic slices. It's so fragrant! The round pork belly is full of oil and so delicious. The beef is also incredibly tender.
A couple spent 145$ for delicious high quality korean bbq dinner and had leftover for a delicous lunch for both ppl the next day. Service was top-tier. Food was good. Delicious. No complaints whatsoever. Good ambiance as well. Parking is $10 at the plaza.
This Korean BBQ spot in K-Town offers a cozy and authentic experience. The restaurant sits in a plaza with slightly dim lighting that creates a relaxed, Seoul-style atmosphere — it feels like spending a weekend night at a local bar in Korea, chatting over sizzling meat and cold beer. 🥩 **BBQ Set for Two** The rib eye was thick and tender with a great texture, and the thin-sliced pork belly grilled perfectly, juicy and flavorful. Wrapped in fresh lettuce with pickled radish, each bite was balanced and satisfying. 🌽 **Sides and Add-ons** The set also included cheesy corn — sweet, rich, and super addictive — along with a seafood pancake generously packed with octopus, and a bubbling ramen pot that was the perfect comfort food to end the meal. We also tried the cold noodles, which were refreshing though on the lighter side in flavor. The lemonade was a bit sweet; I’d recommend pairing your meal with beer instead — it complements the BBQ perfectly. Overall, great quality meat, clean setup, and an authentic Korean vibe that makes for a very enjoyable dining experience.
Ktown BBQ Old Favorite|This isn’t a new discovery—it’s a spot I’ve revisited many times and truly love. Even Kpop Demon Hunters Director Maggie K. and BLACKPINK’s Lisa have been here! (Instantly felt like I was eating the same menu haha) This time we ordered the Origin Special Set Large (for 4 people). The portion was great, and honestly their meat quality is consistently solid—never disappointing. With how busy they always are, the meat is definitely fresh. 🥩 MEATS • Prime Boneless Short Rib: Beautiful marbling—my personal No.1 • Brisket: Thin-sliced, edges get slightly crispy on the grill—so good • Garlic Seasoned Short Rib: The garlic seasoning is chef’s kiss—king of kings • Pork Belly: Best paired with kimchi (the ultimate combo) • Marinated Prime Bulgogi: We even ordered an extra plate after finishing the set! Their staff grills everything table-side, so you don’t need to lift a finger. They control the heat perfectly🔥—no stress, no risk of burning your precious meat. 🍲 Side dishes & hot items were comforting too: • Cheese corn: Loved by both adults and kids 💕 • Kimchi & Salad: Keeps everything balanced • Doenjang beef noodle army stew: Slightly spicy, flavorful broth, and quite a large portion—perfect after eating all the meat, that satisfying soup + noodle combo! 🌟 Secret little trick: Say this to your server: 👉 “show me the origin” and you’ll get a hidden Japchae (beef glass noodles)! It comes loaded with ingredients—our table finished it in 10 seconds. We came on a Monday night—after around 7:30 PM it started getting busy and tables filled up quickly. The restaurant has a lively vibe, and parking is $10.
We've been to Origin Korean BBQ several times now and it never disappoints, but this time our main server was Eun Ho. K. He's just awesome! He was quick and intentional in his usual busy workflow, but he also remained very warm and personable. Best dining experience so far at Origin. Reservations are recommended ahead of time when possible. It's located at Chapman Plaza. There's a small parking lot - $10 for 2hrs when it's not full. Our favorite dishes were: ~ Marinated prime bone-in Galbi 5⭐️ ~ Prime Ribeye steak 5⭐️ ~ Corn with cheese 5⭐️ ~ Premium pork jowl 4⭐️ ~ Premium thin pork belly 3⭐️
Stopped by Origin in Chapman Plaza for some premium KBBQ and went with the Origin set for two. It came with brisket, pork belly, boneless short rib, and bulgogi, plus cheese corn and a big ramen soup with brisket at the end. We also added a cold naengmyeon to share. Portion-wise, it’s fair. If you’re used to AYCE and going all in, it might feel a little lighter, but we still left full. The quality of the meat is really the point here. Everything had nice marbling and tasted fresh. They cook it all for you at the table and pace it well. My favorite was the thin, round pork belly slices. The boneless short rib also stood out and had great flavor and texture. The cold naengmyeon at the end was perfect to cap it all off and balance everything out. Overall it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for good quality cuts and a more relaxed KBBQ dinner.
Yesterday I came here with a friend to try this place out. The atmosphere was really nice — perfect for chatting and enjoying some BBQ. We ordered the couple’s set. Both the short ribs and the marinated short ribs were delicious, and the meat was super tender. The steamed egg was also really good — it practically melted in your mouth. We also added: • Dumplings: the wrapper was nice and crispy • Seafood pancake: loaded with ingredients • Kimchi fried rice: very flavorful and super satisfying The staff helped grill everything for us, so we didn’t have to do it ourselves the whole time. Overall, it was a great experience and we had a really enjoyable meal. Bonus tip: if you tell the server “Show me the origin,” you’ll get a free plate of beef trimmings and mixed veggies
This Korean BBQ spot totally blew me away! Every cut of meat was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. You can really taste the quality — super tender and fresh. The portions are huge, so come hungry! The side dishes were amazing too, and the staff made sure our grill was always just right. I’ve tried many KBBQ places in LA, but this one stands out as the best by far. Can’t wait to come back with friends!
Amazing experience at ORIGIN Korean BBQ! The food quality was excellent — fresh, tender meats with great flavor, and a wide variety of banchan that you can refill. The service was outstanding. The staff was attentive, changed the grill regularly, and made sure everything went smoothly. The atmosphere was clean, comfortable, and perfect for dining with friends or family. Overall, great value for the price. Highly recommend for anyone who loves Korean BBQ. Will definitely come back!
We came with just the two of us and ordered the Small Origin Special Set, which comes with prime short rib, beef brisket, pork belly, and bulgogi. The set also includes steamed egg🥚 and a beef hot pot ramen, super filling and totally worth it! All the meats were excellent, and the server grilled everything for us with perfect timing. Every bite was tender and juicy, definitely will come back!
We usually go to Park’s but try this for the first time to use our Amex resy credit. It is surprisingly very comparable, meat quality is good. Service is much better and the vibe is great. Nice music selections and not overly noisy, very relaxing! Bonus they have the soup at the end! Will definitely come back! Highly recommend those who need to use resy credit to give this place a try!
The moment pork belly or seasoned beef is placed over the charcoal, the air instantly fills with a captivating aroma of char and smoke. The fat on the grill “sizzles”—like an inviting, irresistible piece of music. Once the meat is crispy on the outside yet remains juicy and tender within, quickly wrap it in a fresh lettuce leaf with a dab of spicy ssamjang and a crunchy slice of garlic. Take a bite, and the complex flavors—hot, rich, and refreshing—intertwine perfectly in your mouth. That is the unique, undeniable feeling of sizzling happiness that only Korean BBQ can deliver.
I LOVE the pork belly here! All the meats are very tasty. They also have lots of delicious and nutritious sides. Great portions! And they cook for you too. Excellent service! The restaurant is clean and modern. And Blackpink Lisa has been here before!!
Origin Korean BBQ serves premium, beautifully marbled meats that grill to perfection — the pork belly and brisket in particular melt in your mouth. The retro‑industrial vibe and 1960s–Seoul inspired décor make the atmosphere lively and unique. With thoughtful side dishes, generous portions, and attentive service, it’s a solid go‑to spot for KBBQ fans in LA — just be ready for a pricier tab.
Origin delivers a flawless, premium Korean BBQ experience. The quality of the meat is the absolute highlight: beautifully marbled, thinly sliced beef brisket and thick, perfect spirals of pork belly were ready to sizzle on the hot grill. The atmosphere is vibrant, and the attention to detail is superb—even the kimchi cooks directly on the plate in the rendering fat, transforming it into a savory delight. The banchan (side dishes) were varied and fresh, perfectly complementing the rich proteins. Service was attentive and efficient. This is top-tier KBBQ that is highly recommended for a truly satisfying meal!
Wow, great quality Korean bbq. This place took over another k-bbq. This one is much better. Got the set menu for 2. It was plenty for my family of 4. Also ordered the nang myun. Very refreshing and chewy. At the end they give you a dweng jang stew with ramen noodles and brisket on top. It was also delicious. The place was so good we went back the next night. This time, we asked for the stew early because the night before we were too stuffed to enjoy the soup. Highly recommend. Not a cheap place, but the quality and service make up for it.
I visited for the first time and ordered the $199 combo. The quality was better than I expected, and the service was great. The soybean paste ramen on the side was surprisingly delicious as well. I definitely want to come back again. P.S. Parking is really expensive though…
This restaurant’s location is something every longtime overseas student remembers. No matter how late it was, if someone in the apartment group chat said “late-night food?”, this was always the first place that came to mind. I actually hadn’t been back since they moved, but my Korean coworker told me there’s a secret phrase for free beef japchae. With news this fresh, I had to come try it and share it. Free Beef Japchae Make sure to tell the server “Show me the Origin” as soon as you sit down. They’ll know exactly what you mean and place the order. I love japchae so much, but I always hesitate because of the price, thinking I should order meat instead. Since it’s free and the portion is generous, you have to get it. It comes with beef, glass noodles, wood ear mushrooms, onions, carrots, green peppers and purple cabbage. The seasoning leans sweet and aromatic, and it’s incredibly delicious. Beef Set You get three kinds of meat: brisket, marinated bulgogi slices, and then you can choose between marinated bone-in short rib or ribeye. You can tell the quality just by looking at the photos. Even the veggies for wrapping are plentiful, and the pickled radish is amazing. The highlight is that the set also comes with a brisket soybean paste stew plus ramen. It was my first time seeing such big slices of beef in complimentary ramen. A pot of ramen is truly the soul of the meal. They also give you a full plate of sizzling cheese corn on the house. With three adults and one kid, we were completely full. We thought the set was for two, so we ordered extra dishes and ended up stuffed. Seafood Pancake The outside is crispy, and the inside is packed with squid, scallions and chili peppers. It’s pretty spicy. The dipping sauce is slightly sour and salty, super refreshing. Kimchi Fried Rice This one got me from online photos. The setup gives strong lunchbox nostalgia, with a hot stone bowl, a perfectly fried sunny-side-up egg and shredded seaweed. Break the yolk and mix it in yourself. It’s impossible to stop eating. Even though the tables changed from round to square, the overall interior, lighting and ventilation pipes still feel exactly like what I remember. It was a little emotional walking in. The meat quality is genuinely great, and the staff grills everything for you so you don’t have to do anything yourself, no more burnt meat. This BBQ place is operated by On6thAvenue Hospitality, the same group behind Quarters Korean BBQ, so the reputation definitely holds up.
Went there over the weekends, nice Korean Bbq spot to hangout and eat with friends, staffs were friendly and quick service. Most importantly the food was deliciousss! Will definitely stop by next time.

my friend and I got the $99 special set for 2 that came with 4 diff type of meat and a noodle. Highly recommend it, good portion for 2.

First time visiting and we ordered the Combo Special for two. The food was really good — everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and the quality of the meat stood out. I especially loved the pork belly here. The server helped cook the meat on the grill, so you can just relax and enjoy the meal instead of constantly flipping everything. The place itself is clean and modern. However, parking in the area can be difficult Also, the noodle soup — was way too salty for my taste Overall though, we had a great experience. Not a cheap spot, but the quality of the food and service make it worth it.
The food here is good! We ordered the two-person combo, but the portions were huge, easily enough for three people. Everything was flavorful and fresh. The quality of the meat was great. The server will help you cook the meat on the grill, that’s good as you don’t need to be busy with flipping the meat😌Simply enjoy the food! The only downside was that the soup noodles (or hotpot) were way too salty for my taste, definitely on the high-sodium side, which isn’t the healthiest.
Used the Amex Resy search to use up our $100 quarterly spend and found this place, surprisingly good. Fun spot in the old Baekjeong location in Chapman plaza. Parking is still outrageous but still easy access lots of locations in the plaza. Original Korean BBQ is such a generic name I was very hesitant to even try. There’s no Korean phonetic sounds or familiar romanization of Korean words. But it felt like an upscale Korean BBQ joint with modern decor and decent selection of meats and Banchan. My wife and I got the Duo set and came with ramen noodles at the end which help digest all the meats. Fun place, definitely recommend and will come back
The location is clean, the parking is almost non existent, and the quality is good, not great but good. First, be prepared to look for public parking elsewhere and walking there. There’s parking at the location but very limited and since it’s a popular spot, you most likely won’t get it. The wait ranges from 30 mins to an hour because it’s very popular. The quality of meats were good, nothing special, which is okay, but considering the price, you can go to any traditional Korean place around for better meats and pricing. Lastly, I kept having to ask for items over and over again, to different servers. It’s not their fault as they were extremely nice, it’s just that they were so busy and understaffed that they kept having to run around and around. It’s nice for a date night and gets the job done.

Food quality has gone downhill since last year. Brisket was slimy, pork was gamey, ribeye was watery and seafood pancake was soggy. Only marinated meats were good. Host was rude (no eye contact, dismissive) when I told him my wife was nursing our baby in our car down the block. I understand the policy that all party members must be present to be seated, but I expect tact and politeness for a popular restaurant atur his price point. Service is actually a minor issue, but combined with the lackluster food, it doesn’t seem worth the price to come here when there’s so much great competition around. Table side service was friendly and attentive.
