Came here on Wednesday around noon. It wasn’t crowded as I thought so I was able to order and enjoy my lunch faster than I expected. Shakshuka was good but French toast was my favorite because it was super scrumptious. Food took a bit of time but it was worth waiting for sure.
Great place. The only thing is, the caviar didn’t seem authentic to me. Considering that I’m quite familiar with different types of caviar, this one lacked the characteristic flavor and was difficult to bite through — it was overly firm. For $25, I would expect a spoonful of good, real caviar, please.
Phenomenal atmosphere, expansive menu with all sorts of option, delicious coffee, plenty of seating, indoor and outdoor that’s comfortable. And staff always serve you with a smile.
When Sally Met Sally came with salmon that wasn’t smoked! Incredibly good! Very impressed with the blueberry jam as well. Seating is spartan but acceptable. Probably a good idea to keep people from getting too comfortable and sitting there all day I suppose. Parking is nonexistent.
Sqirl is one of the tastiest breakfast options in Silver Lake, as well as one of the most trendy and expensive. The lines here can get quite long so I suggest stopping in early. They have three different seating areas, one small area inside where you order, outside on the side of the building, and their largest seating area is directly out front on the sidewalk. Parking in this area can be a little bit tricky, there isn’t a dedicated parking lot. It will be street parking only. The staff that we encountered was very friendly, but the ordering process is extremely slow, for some reason this line only crawls by, and everyone behind the counter taking orders does not seem to be in any type of rush. The menu does have a lot of great options on it. We started off with the Yogurt Parfait Bowl and we thought it was terrific. Everything was just really fresh and well balanced, and we were very happy with it. We also ordered the Ricotta Toast and jam and decided to do all strawberry because the other flavors did not sound nearly as interesting. This too was very good and I would get it for the strawberry jam alone. For my breakfast, I chose the Silky Soft French Eggs and really liked them. The goat cheese in the center is what made it for me and overall they was just really good. It takes quite a long time to be able to sit down to eat and the prices are high here, but the food is honestly really good and the staff is friendly, so I believe it is worth it if you’re in the area.
Oh. My. Lord. This is probably one of the best breakfast joints I’ve ever been to… and I’m a serial foodie as you can tell by the hundreds of reviews I have! The french toast is INSANE. Omg, i couldn’t stop eating it. The breakfast sandwich?! One of the best I’ve ever had. This was on my list of restaurants to hit on my past LA trip and I am SO glad I stopped by. There was no wait on a Friday morning at around 10am btw and plenty of seating.
A long-term follower of sqirlla on Instagram, I finally got to try their famous pesto bowl on my short trip to LA. Love the texture of the rice and would recommend it to people who could handle acidity. Their turmeric julius is phenomenal. Would love to come here for breakfast everyday and try every dish on their huge menu!
The wait in queue to order is part of the journey. Tell your meal companion(s) to institute a no-phone rule and have deep discussions that plumb the depths of your psyches, which is a proper prelude to plumbing the depths of these thick slabs of toast and brioche. The food is not only instantly 'gram-able but unique and delicious, too. The silky egg and latke tater tot inside the breakfast sandwich is truly one of a kind. The creme brulee brioche that sits drenched, per the menu, for 42.5 hours in custard before being served with ricotta, jam and syrup is bonkers good. Embrace the wait. Find your zen. It's all worth it. (The drip coffee is a lightly acidic light roast that tastes better than it should.)
Visited Sqirl in Los Angeles and loved it! I had the strawberry matcha which was delicious—not too sweet—and added the whipped cream on top (extra $2) and wow, totally worth it. Also ordered the ricotta toast, which was not only beautiful but absolutely delicious and super photogenic. The cashier was nice and friendly, and the whole cafe has a cozy, welcoming vibe. Definitely a spot I’d come back to!
I’m sitting here eating my leftover sorrel rice bowl (half rice half kale a poached egg, No sausage) and felt compelled to write a review. It’s the best bfast/lunch rice bowl ever! perfectly flavorful, filling, unique, and healthy. It was my lunch once a week when I lived in the area, and I had a deep spiritual craving for it this weekend, so ventured over to Virgil Village. It hit the spot exactly as I remembered it. Not the mention the staff is alwayssss friendly and the cookies & pastries are bomb. I’m a creature of habit so I haven’t ventured far off the rice bowl path aside from bites off of friends plates, but there’s truly something delish for everyone and every craving. Love u Sqirl 💕
The service was calm and friendly. The menu is large and the space is set up for more of a coffee shop, so there’s not much room to look at the menu. I suggest looking the menu up before hand, to get a general idea of what you’re looking at/for. The food was amazing. Healthy, well balanced, and friendly for vegan and gluten free persons.
Totally worth the time and money! Four of us got 5 dishes: salmon sorrel with avocado, fluffy pancake, the fritt omelette, chicken chop salad, and the ricotta toast. I don’t know what it was called, but the long grilled veggies on top of salmon sorrel was so good. Citrusy scented pesto rice paired well with the perfectly baked salmon and creamy avocado. The omelette topped with comte cheese was like pizza. The chicken salad was fun with bunch of different vegetables. The pancake, was something else, was the best out of all the pancakes that I’ve had from other spots. The brioche with all the jams was amazing. Loved every bite! We got so stuffed afterwards. 🤤
Visited twice and both times were very pleasant experience! The stuffed French toast is amazing!! It's warm and soft inside, but a little crispy on the outside. Their jam makes the flavor reallyyyy good. It's the best French toast I've ever had in my life (seriously🙌🏼) Make sure you try it when coming here! The salmon sorrel rice with kale is great, too. The lemon and cheese make the flavor rich and special. The portion of their meals are also very appropriate. Avocado toast was also different than others' avocado toast. I love their creativity and how well they are when mixing different ingredients together, which makes their dishes unique and delicious. Coffee is okay though, I probably won't order their coffee next time. Staffs are friendly. You order at the counter and then find your table to seat. Overall: highly recommend to everyone! 💛
I had some sort of jam filled, sugar coated pastry that was nothing short of divine. 5 stars for the outstanding pastry!

A little on the expensive side but great quiche and side salad and friendly service too. Lots of outdoor seating available and it's in the shade in the mornings.

so so yummy, the crispy rice salad was everything! great crunch \n\nalso the multi-jam ricotta toast is sooo unique, very decadent and not too thick
Everything at Sqirl is perfect. Wish I could eat there every day. I frequently dream about the sorrel pesto bowl. It is flawless.

We ate a late lunch at Sqirl today, and I will be dreaming of my dish until I go back and order it again. We recommend the sorrel pesto rice with Halloumi added and the old-school breakfast. YUMMY.

Nice customer service and welcoming, cute set up. But I do have to say it is overrated and overpriced. The "savory" food should be retitled to "acidic" or "fresh" if that's your thing. I enjoy fr…
Hip" atmosphere and food was great, but I waited for too long for both order and food and table was uncomfortable
Environment ⭐⭐⭐ Very small space and quite crowded. Street parking only, which makes the whole experience a bit inconvenient. Food ⭐⭐ • Ricotta Toast ⭐⭐⭐ The ricotta itself was very smooth and well done, but the jam on top was overly sweet. The bread was cut too thick, making the inside feel a bit too moist. Overall, just okay. • Crispy Rice Bowl ⭐ ⭐ The fried rice was too hard, and the dish was served cold. Not my thing at all. Will I come back? Probably not.
I wouldn’t recommend the crispy rice items on the menu. It was hard to chew and actually hurt my jaw. It took about 30 minutes to get my food on a Tuesday around 11:30 a.m., which is okay but the initial interaction with one of the bussers was disappointing. My friend was still in line ordering, and when I sat down at an empty table, the busser told me I couldn’t sit without a number, even though most tables were open. It didn’t set a very welcoming tone.
6/10 Nice brunch spot in Silverlake. I think my main issue with Sqirl is that their dishes are beautifully presented, but the looks bear stronger than the taste. I found the dishes were hit or miss. While we LOVED the seasonal frittata and the latka, the pesto bowl and ricotta toast were lacking. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a pretty place to grab lunch with friends, you can tell a lot of effort was put into the interior. Just not sure if it reaches my top brunch spots in LA. I could foresee myself coming back to try the pastries or cake (which looked delicious), but for the full sit down brunch thing, it might be awhile before I come back.

Good taste, not worth the price. $80 for 2 people go to House of Pies. No half and half for coffee? Please.
Used to be much better. Ordered from here and the food was extremely late, kitchen issues not delivery. Ricotta toast cold and soggy (maybe leave cheese and jam off toast for delivery?). Rice bowl was fine. Pancakes managed to be soggy/wet on one side and tough on the other?.
not for me. especially dont like the service, tainted my experience. there were no signs saying we needed to order before sitting down. someone told us off & was very unnecessarily rude about it. u…
I used to love this place, but their service has gotten absolutely terrible. The last time we came on a weekday, it wasn’t even busy and we waited 45 minutes for our egg rice. We didn’t say anything, fine, it happens. But today was the last straw. We came on Sunday for brunch and stood in a huge line for 35 minutes, only to be told at the register that the pancakes were sold out. Why couldn’t you tell people while they were standing in line? Why let people wait that long just to find out everything is gone? Out of frustration, we ordered the shakshuka because I saw it being served to another table with a long, beautiful loaf of bread and thought, okay, that looks amazing, let’s try it. We ordered it. Waited another 40 minutes. And then my shakshuka came without the long bread, because it was suddenly sold out too, even though just a minute earlier the table next to us received it with the long bread. No one came over to explain, no one asked if that was okay, no one offered an alternative or tried to fix it. I will never come back to this place, and I definitely don’t recommend it to anyone. We spent an hour and a half just to leave in a terrible mood.
