Opinions de The Airliner Los Angeles
2006-2018. The Pure Filth setup was a Legendary Monster. Every Wednesday, Lincoln Heights withstood a Kaiju attack. The show where Busdriver sat during most of his set. The first live Daedelus show. Dibiase. Flying Lotus. GLK. Samiyam. OFWGKTA.Ras G. Abstract Rude. The First Beat Invitational. The Mars Volta. Many more. I met good people, had good times and heard good music. Farewell, Low End Theory. Thank you.
It's as if it never closed but better. Can't wait till the summer and once happy hour returns!
Incredible cocktails. More of a chill spot to catch up though, atmosphere is pretty dead.
Excellent food, interesting wine and cocktail list. Highly reccommend!
Hip indoor space and beautiful outdoor patio.
I was here for an event and the club is intimate and a cool vibe. Could use a renovation but overall a good time
The best club in LA,great people and they always bring special guest wich is super cool,Low end rocks!!
Great place for seeing live music and getting some 🔥 drinks, good service and awesome atmosphere
Oh my God. Went there for an event and the staff was friendly helpful and they were on keeping everything clean and fun!
Outdoor patio space is lively and has heat lamps! Veggie burger is to die for!
Performed here a month ago, must say we had a blast spacious and clean.
I only came for low end.. so sad it's gone. Had some great times over the years! Great memories were made here.
Low End Theory (every Wednesday) is the best electronic music event in LA
great place to see an intimate show. outside patio. kitchen. decent bar. lots of locos
It’s a lovely place that has a friendly staff and an eclectic crowd of both locals and newcomers.
That is a pretty spot. Nice atmosphere, with the option to just sit down and chill outside in the patio.
Great shows and great spots! Got to enjoy the 3 stages one night
One of my fav bars in la, even better it’s in my neighborhood. This place is inclusive and they have a smashing burger and some of the best cocktails in town. We need businesses like this to thrive especially what they have been through in covid. Their cocktails are second to none but way underpriced. They even carry stem cider on draft. Best bar in Lincoln heights, patio is super chill and staff and owner are so nice, humble and attentive.
So glad this place is up and running again - nice to have a cozy spot like this in walking distance. Sad to see the old Airliner go, but after Low End Theory shut down tbh I really didn’t get back there much. Glad the new spot has the same iconic facade and entrance. The Airliner has a long and rich history. Tasty $12 cocktails (good tiki drinks and tequila selection) and lite bites. Beautiful wood work around the bar. Can’t wait to chill on the patio in summer and catch a DJ night upstairs. Will be back soon.
**** **** **** **** - fun back patio - Great bites / Fantastic drinks **** **** **** **** New ownership doing a solid job bring the decadence and elegance back to the beauty of days of yore. Hip crowd and glorious room. It’s becoming a definite hang. *** *** ** Ps THEY ADDED A SICK HAPPY HR !!! *
Place is great has a lot of room to hang out dance, it also has two bars and upstairs downstairs. They have as have a great promoter on sat. That does an 80s night and they have live bands it's a great spot.
They have a pretty patio and a stage upstairs where they host events. The vibes have been great the few times I've been. Bartenders are cool which is a major plus.
Underground experimental hip-hop and electronic music at its finest at this club every Wednesday night. LA is the envy of the world because our music and art scene... the food and weather is pretty awesome here too. LA is my most favorite city in the world. (Yes, I am a proud Angeleno) Featuring on some nights the most innovative and forward thinking artists or creative minds of our day such Thom Yorke of Radiohead, Erykah Badu, Tyler the Creator of OFWGKTA along with well respected artists of LA's beat scene such as Flying Lotus, Nosaj Thing, The Glitch Mob, Daedelus, and Tokimonsta as your music selectors. Resident DJs include Daddy Kev, The Gaslamp Killer, Nobody and freestyle emcee Nocando (Project Blowed). If you're a hip-hop head, you must add this local experience to your bucket list! My first attempt to get into to LET was for Tokimonsta and stood outside for two hours and left because I couldn't get in. Second attempt, I got there before 8:30 pm (Daddy Kev's advice) to check out the Invisibl Skratch Piklz and easily got in. Due to the popularity of this club, Low End Theory has expanded to Japan, New York City, and San Francisco on the first Friday of every month. You might find Low End Theory at the Echoplex where you can buy tickets in advance. TIP: Arrive by 8:30 pm or risk not getting in on some nights. $10 entrance fee. Street parking. Main stage on the second floor.
This place rocks, the style is great, the glassware is classy, the bartenders were quick and friendly and the outside spaces are really nice!
It was pretty busy when I went but even then the bartender was really attentive. The patio area is pretty big and there wasn’t many ppl outside when I went.
All around excellent. Quality drinks. Every dish was interesting and well done. Friendly and helpful staff.
I went for a concert. Lots of space for that, for the upstairs stage. Not so much room, for the downstairs stage.. I don't drink, so I can't vouch for their booze..
Loved it. The new owners are devoted to the patrons having a great experience. Bartenders were friendly and attentive.
Great bar with so much history. I love the outdoor space as well, it is a large patio area that helps the place a lot. The drinks are good, and the burgers are great as well. The staff and bartenders are always friendly.
This place is also known as "Low End Theory," and it is a pretty cool little underground venue. There is a bar downstairs, and then the dance floor is upstairs, as well as an upstairs outdoor patio. There is a much larger patio downstairs, which has seating and heat lamps. It's a pretty cool little venue, where you can catch good beats, of various popularity.
Just visited for the first time. Great food, great drinks and great service. The open patio was really nice and spacious. Most tables were more than six feet apart so you don't feel crammed like a sardine. And they were very serious about sanitizing. The menu has a nice range of options for food, beer, wine and cocktails. We tried the Tabouleh salad and Chicken Fried Tofu sandwich. It was delicious! Their kitchen is no joke. For drinks I tried a few different cocktails and I wasn't disappointed. I tried the Gin Gimlet, Toki highball, Fast Car and a "margarita" type cocktail that I can't remember the name. I enjoyed them all. I can't wait to go back and dine inside their beautiful bar when things get back to "normal".
I'm so excited to have discovered this reopened spot! The food was amazing (woot Vinh!!!), and the drink I had was spectacular. Can't wait to have this be my go-to spot for a nice and quiet weekday dinner and drinks with friends.
I haven't been to a club like this in a while and it easy to see why; even on a weekday night it's cranking! My friends and I went there after a couple other places, as it was both open late and, according to our guide, always has something going on. Both were true; the staff were friendly but professional, the performers were "real" and entertaining and there was plenty of space to kick back or dance, according to one's desires. The drinks were a bit expensive but it wasn't a dealbreaker and the only complaint I have is that I think I lost my USB Drive while fishing for cash to pay my bill, which is no one's fault but mine.
Food was phenomenal and drinks are eclectic and vibrant. Def a great spot for a date night!
A true vibe any time of the week. Staff is super inviting and I didn’t know but they have karaoke!
There is nothing not to love about this place. Everything from the decor to the cocktails are thoughtful and stunningly executed. The service is friendly, the food is great and the prices align with a much divier establishment. There is a huge outdoor patio and a back bar that has shows ranging the gamut from comedy to swing dancing. We live around the corner and count our lucky stars the neighborhood watering hole is so primo, but even if we had to face rush hour traffic to get here- We’d still make the trek.
Such a cool and chill bar. The drinks are very well made. The bartenders are always on top of what they are doing. They take care of you like you are family. Go here all the time now for the atmosphere and the drinks. I highly recommend this place.
Their open! Their big outside patio is very nice, social distanced, perfect for our date night. We shared the deviled eggs, grilled cheese, burger and chicken sandwich, all were spectacular. So happy it’s open again! Great spot!
I walked in expecting typical bar fare—maybe some fried chicken and a few snacks—but what I experienced was nothing short of extraordinary. The mentaiko spaghetti was a standout, easily the best I’ve had, even compared to versions from Japan. The soy noodles were cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of crisp to complement the dish. The jamaica salad, with its refreshing mix of celery and grapefruit segments, was a surprise hit. I found myself unable to stop eating it, and the dressing was so good I could have sipped it straight from the bowl. And then, the desserts. Wow. The black sesame Rice Krispies with labne and plum sauce was a creative and delicious take that left me in awe. But the real star was the hojicha tres leches—an innovative fusion that was absolutely divine. Thank you for elevating Asian bar food to this level. I can’t wait to come back and explore more of the menu!
Fantastic Venue. Went for Low End Theory. Two stages; one inside, one outside. Outside closed at midnight. Good choices of drinks. Sound system is good. I've heard rumors that they allow artists to master on the system, resulting in a better experience. The quality of the sound seems to reflect that
Excellent, eclectic Asian food; quality drinks; lovely staff; and an inviting historic bar and interior. The Airliner is one of my favorite restaurant/bars in LA now for sure.
Bartender thought he was too cool or something idk, sucks to see that in this part of town.
As a fan of Moo's nearby, I've always been curious about the Airliner, so I finally went with a few friends from out of town. It was great! It's truly a neighborhood bar with very reasonable prices, delicious food, and super kind staff. They've got a pretty sizable dog-friendly back patio too, which is a nice vibe. One of my favorite new low-key finds in recent memory!
Went just for drinks but ended up blown away by how incredible the food was! The vibe here is fantastic, both inside and out, and the place is full of history and charm. Highly recommend checking it out—you won’t regret it!
One of the last night's of Low End Theory and the line was around the corner. We were waiting for hours and I had to leave to go to the bathroom about an hour before doors. Apparently that was the time they decided to hand out wrist bands! Fabulous. So I come back and beg and plead with the bouncers that I was gone for just a bit but they stuck to their principles, which I admired but also hated. Nothing deterred them. Nothing. I even tried the owner. Nothing. So I went back in line and waited again. Eventually I got in and met my bf inside. Later that night I ran into the owner and he remembered me! He said he was happy to see I perservered and got in. He got us a round of Grand Marnier shots and we chatted for the next hour on what it meant for him to be ending Low End Theory. Have to say, rough start but great place and good people. Amazing sound system, strong drinks, good layout for dancing or getting some air or talking if you need a break. I'd go back...with a shorter line.
I haven't been here for awhile and I wanted to see what it was like AFTER Jon Taffer rescued it. Well done Jon!!! Its a BIG CHANGE since I went there before. Everything is so much better and the Staff is outstanding!
Love this place, it has a nice and chill ambiance. Good for a date night or to catch up with friends. The staff is friendly, and attentive. The food is delicious, and the desserts are to die for. They also have good drinks. My husband and I have been here twice already and plan on going back.
Went there for a DJ brunch. The food was so freaking good and the staff was so friendly. I love this spot!
This place is amazing! AWESOME atmosphere. Imaginative, delicious food. GREAT drinks. And a shoutout to Harrison behind the bar, he is awesome!
Hidden gem. Worth the journey to Lincoln Heights. Great cocktails inventive delicious Korean vibe dishes.
While the brunch menu offers a limited selection, the quality is exceptional, featuring delicious vegan and gluten-free options. We particularly enjoyed the vodka-gin Bloody Mary, and highly recommend the beef rendang and breakfast sando. For dessert, the black sesame brown butter rice crispy is a perfect conclusion.
Went to the Airliner on a Wednesday night, when the iconic recurring electronic/experimental hip-hop event "Low End Theory" is on. It's a really cool venue with two indoor rooms and an outdoor stage. The acts are split between the top floor room and the outdoor stage. It was really buzzing on the night. The beats were good and heavy, there was some live rap acts, and the stages were both packed. The bars are well equipped and have bar food. Drink specials are good and well priced. Highly recommended to go for music lovers, especially of these genres.
The remodel is gourmet as is the food. An accompaniment for a bar is elevated bar food and this place has elegant food worthy of hipsters and homeless.
This jewel of a restaurant/bar/nightclub is absolutely underappreciated by LA clubgoers, which is difficult to understand. They have great food, creative cocktails and a sweet spot to enjoy live music. It's right off the 5 freeway in Lincoln Heights and parking is easy to find. The patio stage is airy and one of a kind, plus every time I've been here the customers are friendly and chill. They used to have a lunch hour that had AMAZING food at a bargain price - I wish they'd bring it back! Back when I lived around the corner from the Airliner, Prince made a surprise late night visit to perform and I missed out! Absolutely love this classic LA hangout!
Went for Sunday brunch here and it was pretty slow around 3pm. The atmosphere was dark, charming and comfortable. The menu is not your typical brunch menu. I ordered the beef randang, pork dumplings and cucumber salad and everything was delicious especially the beef randang! I also had a non alcoholic lime cucumber drink which was delightful. Our server was nice, fun and very attentive. Can't wait to go back and try the dinner menu. I don't drink but they have a beautiful bar for those of you that do as well as a nice patio put back. Highly recommend going here.
Love the staff, food, and vibes! A great place to come on the evenings for a quick drink, yummy dinner or even brunch on the weekends. I love that they have an indoor space, the patio and a venue on the second floor with events. Would highly recommend checking out!
Love the vibe of this bar. It's a hundred years old and has the vintage 60s style w vinyl playing while you sit at the bar. We went for an event and the outside area was fun airy and great service. Music was fire w rotating dj sets.
Food, wine, service and vibes were exceptional! We made resys for a wine night and the outdoor seating was cozy, with a heated lamp keeping us warm. Our server was sweet and helped us sample some wines - we chose an orange wine and sparkling wine which both paired perfectly with the food. For food, highly rec the mentaiko spaghetti, fries with yuzu aoili, chicken wings, and citrus salad! Dessert is a must - loveee the hojicha tres leches and black sesame rice krispy. Portions are small, but perf for sharing with friends and wine selection is lovely.
This place was great! The music and atmosphere were great. Food amazing and service even better. Thanks jo!!!

Absolute hidden gem. Food is so much better than it should be. Drinks are creative and excellent. Service is a dream.
Cute and cozy little bar with amazing speakers in a sketchy neighborhood (to be fair I just moved to LA 6 months ago)
From the outside, The Airliner looks like a dive bar serving standard dive bar fare. But make no mistake, Chef Vinh Nguyen has created a stunning menu of excellent, creative, and absolutely delicious food! We had a tasting for my daughter's wedding, and we were served such terrific items as Green Chop Salad (spicy thair dressing), Hunan BBQ pork ribs, Green Curry Crispy Rice, onion noodles, and tater tots with Gochujang glaze. I forgot to take pictures, but everything looked as great as it tasted. The next time we are in LA, we look forward to going there for dinner, and we couldn't be happier that Chef Nguyen will be catering our daughter's wedding!
My friends and I came to Airliner for a Galentine's Day. We sat in the lovely back patio and enjoyed the drinks. Thank you to Santi for the amazing service and drink suggestions. He was the best! Recommend this place for a nice dinner out or drinks with friends. One thing that I would like to see addressed is making sure all of the heat lamps work in the patio. We stayed in the outdoor patio through the evening and it got really cold (well, chilly for LA). Wish there was an operating heat lamp near us.
LA local gem. Every neighborhood needs a place like this. Amazing vibes, value, and customer service. Great drink program, focused menu with great options, outdoor patio, and great loft space for music. The Happy-Hour is right from the menu with great combinations VS yesterday's leftovers they are trying to offload. Worth the drive, and if you’re a local…take more advantage!
Great happy hour experience. Place was really inviting and chill. Has a nice old world atmosphere. I recommend a negroni and the duck paté.
Great find in an unexpected area. The trendy and cozy atmosphere is perfect for a couple or small group. Dine on an assortment of Asian inspired small plates and enjoy reasonably priced cocktails. Service is great too! There's both a large patio and also an upstairs area, the upper floor is drinks only and has live music or a DJ on most nights.
Loved my experience here! Food was great, cocktails were solid. Santi made a Tuesday night fun, what a good server! Highly recommend checking this place out.

Great venue, full house, bands on 3 different stages, friendly bartenders, especially the one with the twirly moustache!
Not only have a preformed here but I've also came here to enjoy some good music. Highly recommended!
Great place to hear live local music. The staff here is great!
So people can see your wiener when you're peeing in the men's room. Pretty sweet voyeur experience. If you're into that sorta thing. Multiple dance floors. Outdoor patio area. Careful with the stairs. I liked it myself but I live by a mad max kinda of philosophy
Great hip hop venue with a bar and grill. They put in real underground shows, so if Grass-roots local Hip hop shows are your thing, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Bigger names have also performed here, like Ras Kaas.
Great musician drinks a little pricy, bar tender charged me $9 for a jack n coke and the bar that is located upstairs with the friendly girl charged me $6 for the same drink. Whatever he won't get my money again.
4 stages, 4 different levels, good sounds, dope lighting, quick bar service. My only dislike is there's no access to the other levels for the disabled.
Awesome little venue. Good staff, security is nice, 3 rooms, 2 bars. The only reason they dont get a 5 is they need better AC!
Super cute spot with tasty food and a karaoke bar upstairs. The inside is a lot nicer which surprised me cause of the neighborhood but definitely enjoyed it. The mentaiko pasta was delicious along with the salmon crispy rice. The curry crispy rice was very spicy.
Went for happy hour, which they should expand to get patrons in the door. The food was excellent, with the exception of the cold sesame peanut noodles - which are strongly peanut flavored rather than sesame. We both found them salty and unappetizing. It was the only item that we did not devour.

Decent location, sad to see it go because of its legendary history but I don't think it commands the same respect as it did back in the day.
The Airliner is a bar with a small stage for live music. Super small front but huge back. They sometimes have food.
I've had to downgrade the Airliner to 3-stars. You'll run into celebrities. You'll see things in places you'd never...let's just say the restrooms are gross. Drinks are cheap. The people are cheap (I'm looking at the all-ages crowds asking for drinks). Amazing concerts and future music pioneers preform here. Why did they ever move it indoors? sound quality is crap and capacity is like 100 now. All of those things didn't necessitate the 3. But the ridiculous lines of late and messy security have really soured my last visits. Every night is a bit of a gamble, but when it's good, it's a moment to remember.
For you Newbees and Rookies.. The Airliner was opened or Grand Opening on New Year's Eve in the 40s. This was & when N Broadway was an Italian Community, The Airliner was Owend and Operated by a local Italian family who's relatives Graduated from Lincoln High School. When you entered from the back there used to be and Ice Machine with Old Fashion Wood Telephone Boothes, when you first walked in you had to adjust your eyes because it being so dark, it was like entering a Movie Theater. Cool Air Conditioning blowing, with the sound of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin blowing from the Nickle and Dime Juke Box which played 45s. .. The Bar was filled with Liquor from Top to Bottom. With Indy racing Cars which were filled with Booze! along with a Hot Peanut Machine on the Bar.. In those Days it was like walking into a Goodfellas Movie. Which I won't mention, the Regulars were tight knit and they all had nicknames just like the introduction to Hennry Hills Bar.. The Men were Dressed the same as in the Movie Taliormade Suites and Cadillacs parked outside in the back. Upstairs was off limits, it was only opened to certain individuals who were respected in the joint. Yes the Airliner when Los Angeles was at it's best, and when California had no Ieft wing deralicts..
Really great bartenders and plenty of open space, which we appreciated. One area for improvement would be clearer signage around the bar walkway. On New Year’s, a staff member let us know we were in a walkway while we were on the dance floor. We moved right away, but the interaction felt more scolding than necessary. A more polite approach, and better signage, would help make moments like that smoother for guests. Especially considering it was our first time at this venue.

If music is important to you, here's a heads up: The Airliner is no longer a metal/hard rock joint, it's now rap/techno. So, if you're expecting to see/hear Dehuman Reign, it probably ain't going to happen. The place is very small and the patio is even smaller. I would have included some pics, but some staff guy got uptight about it. The place calls itself a dive bar, but apparently to go with the new sound it was remodeled too, so go figure. I don't get out to LA that much, so I can't say I'm a regular, but first impressions make the place seem sort of average or below average.
Went by on Friday night. 11/10/23 My buddy ordered the 1st round of beers and we went to the back patio and enjoyed them. For the 2nd round, we came inside and sat at the bar. I decided I wanted food. One of the bartenders recommended the citrus salad, which was amazing. I was still a bit hungry so I also got the fries, nothing special. After that I asked the same bartender I ordered beers from if they had mezcal, she said there was more at the other side of the bar (by the kitchen). I went to that side and started talking to a different bartender (taller Caucasian female with a hat on). She pulled down a couple of bottles from the top shelf. One of the bottles was 33 a pour which was out of my price range, but there was another which was 14. I asked for a taster which she gladly poured and was generous with. She also poured herself one as well. I decided to buy the one I tasted. I also asked for a taster for my buddy who was with me and she gladly poured it. I then closed out. My tab at this point was 55 (2 beers, fries, salad, & mezcal pour). I tip 9 and close out. I then go back to the other side of the bar where my buddy is. The bartender who poured me mezcal comes up to me and asks why I didn't tip 20%. I asked if I was supposed to, and she said yes because she poured me tasters. She said the tip should be $12. I apologized and told her I didn't know that was a thing. I then updated the tip and my total bill. I understand you may not have been happy with the tip, but there may have been a different way to approach this. I knew the previous GM of the bar before the recent ownership/management change and he was a very kind dude who knew how to handle things with couth. I also realized the math was still incorrect (20% of 55 is 11, not 12, lol). Anyways, after that, I felt like I wasn't wanted there, so I downed my mezcal and we left. I would like to go back and try the other menu items, but I'm not sure I'll be doing that soon.
Went with a friend for some event and when we got there they didn't let us in they said they were filming which was a lie and the door man was rude AF don't waist ur money on this place it's a joke it was hard to find and just unorganized Whoever was promoting for this venue did not deliver dissapointing fursure
The main host and the securities of the Airliner were all drunk, sarcastic, and rude to everyone. They are especially rude to young adults and musicians, treating us like disposable bottles.
took so long to get a drink and bartender was so rude about it!! we ended up walking out. will not return.
It was really dead. I would like to promote a night to party there, because its a cool spot but needs to be promoted right.
Do not go here! Traveled from out of town only to be told you can't get in without proof of vaccine! This mandate was lifted WEEKS ago and this dirty, boring establishment is still trying to enforce it. No wonder there were only 5 ppl inside! Hope your establishment enjoys losing money, 4 different were turned away at the door within the 2 mins I was standing there.
