Opinions de The Mullin Wine Bar Los Angeles
We enjoyed our drinks while waiting to see our matinee. The bartenders were so friendly and made us a special drink called Dorthy’s Rainbow. Yum.
The Mullin Wine Bar, under new ownership as of September 2025, was the pleasant option after not being able to secure reservations at the nearby restaurants before the grand opening of the 2025-2026 LA Opera. The bar offers a nice reprieve for a low-key place to grab a bite or drink before going to any of the shows at the Music Center. Note it opens for just two hours before showtime. My hubby and I arrived shortly after opening time, 4 p.m. or two hours before showtime, based on previous years when we tried to get a drink there to no avail. The place was packed! (Sadly, I didn't get the names of the bartender, hence the reference by gender). The female bartender immediately offered us the menus and water. While the food options are limited (personal size pepperoni and Margharita pizzas) and homemade brownies and cookies, the Margharita pizza was delicious. The marinara sauce wasn't tart, perfectly seasoned and the pizza crust was soft in the center with a slight crunch on the edges. My hubby and I had plenty to eat by sharing one pizza. It has eight slices, so it's a decent amount of food unless one is famished. A second, male, bartender arrived shortly after we got there. The two-member staff was plenty busy with a line out the door about an hour before showtime. Plenty of basic drink choices are available. One bartender even made a mocktail upon request by another patron. The male bartender jumped at the chance to make me an Aperol Spritz after asking how he made them. It hit the spot! It was refreshing and balanced with just the right sweetness. Intrigued by the homemade cookies, I had to try one. 😋 It was worth it as it was perfectly sweet with the right amount of chocolate chips. Its center was fluffy and moist, not soggy. To add to its perfect taste, the crust offered a soft crunch, if that makes sense. Overall, we will return. The bartenders were personable, knowledgeable and made the entire experience a welcoming one, ideal for a place that can often be pretentious. They were both lovely individuals! I would highly encourage the new owners to consider opening after the shows for a couple of hours as guests often want to grab a drink to wind down or debrief. Likewise, they're often hungry for something light; the pizzas and cookie combo would hit the spot. They should at least consider opening after the shows on opening nights. For most people, going to downtown LA is a chore, especially the parking. The Mullin Wine Bar is the most logical venue for patrons to grab a night cap after a show, especially on the season opening night. Not everyone has $3,000 per person to attend the Opera Ball for dinner. Likewise, with the limited restaurant options nearby, this bar is the perfect compromise. On nights when the shows start unusually early or mid-day, offering a choice to grab a bite and drink after hours is not only a convenience to patrons but good business sense.
Everything is expensive, so glad that parking (house parking , underground is only $10 and CASH only) and I got the show tixs cheap so it works out great for family night out. The seating areas are plenty, inside, sideway and courtyard. For 2 cocktails, a pizza, a chocolate cookie, and a bottle of water and with tip came to $105.
A great little preshow spot! The bartenders were so extremely nice and helpful. So friendly to everyone which made for a great vibe. The drinks are yummy and the pizzas come out quick and hot! You can take the cups to go as well which is great as you head into the theatre!
This has to be one of the best burgers I've ever had in LA. The Mullin has a NY vibe. It's really busy right before show time at the music center. I recommend going at 4p.m. or 7:40p.m. for a bite to eat and drinks if you're not catching a show. The bartender's have a great attitude and make quality drinks.

High end service, quality alcohol (if a bit on the pricey side, but to be expected for the location). Didn't order food, they only have snacks and small bites.
The Mullin Wine Bar sits right in the middle of the The Music Center. It is off to the west side and between the Mark Taper and the Dorothy Chandler. It is a lovely spot with the wide glass doors usually open. There is bar seating and some tables. There is also outside seating. They have more than just wine. They have a great wine and liquor list, but they also have food. You can stop there and get cookies and sandwiches to just take away or you can sit and order. They have great food. They make a mean burger and a lot of small plates. Call them as to opening time, it may change depending on whether a show is up at the Music Center. They have a happy hour and since they serve food, kids are allowed. The service is great. We love it.
The experience was very relaxed and the margarita pizza was delicious. We had a great time talking to Ben and Scott who tended bar. Great start before seeing a show.
I ordered a wine flight at this wine bar, and it was a journey of flavors and aromas. The quality of the wines in the flight was exceptional, showcasing a variety of regions and grape varietals. The service was attentive, with the staff sharing insights about each wine. The value for the experience and the generous wine pours made it a fantastic deal. I'll definitely be back for more flights!

Enjoyed good pizzas and drinks before Peter Pan Goes Wrong.

Good for an expensive drink before the operes or theatre but not a destination Service is slow before a show Outdoor seating is nice
I had the impression that this place served hot and/or fresh foods. We got the roasted turkey sandwich, a bottle of water, and an OVD drink and the bill was $58 without tip. The person who took our order was polite, efficient, and she made a good cocktail, but dear lord, $58 for two sandwich and drinks?!? The sandwich was a basic deli meat on a roll. I wish the center had more restaurants with full menus. I suggest eating before you arrive at the center.
The menus have changed!! Last time I visited April 19, 2023. As I entered, I wasn't greeted, nor offered a menu. No one else was in the place. I saw a menu ordered a sparkling wine and sandwich which I found was prepackaged. 😑 So the food is not served freshly cooked & prepared as in years past. What happened?! Sadly this space is not really worth it. Wish it could be as good as it was in the past! Would be a great place before and after events at the Pavilion, Mark Taper & Ahmanson!

Service is horrible. I’m a local resident. I walked around the area and thought of getting a drink to enjoy the afternoon. The bartenders had the laziest attitude. I asked for a martini. He put it in a cup. I asked for a cocktail glass just to be told that they are closing in five minutes and that I have to take this to go cup and sit outside. I’m pretty sure this is against the Californian law not drinking in a designated area with license. Moreover, why would I even buy anything if I knew the bar is closing? Then another blonde lady walked in shortly after and got a glass to sit outside. The bartenders gave this lady all the attention while looking like they were trying to shoo me away. Then trying to ask for 20% tips. I would advise not to wine and dine here. I feel discriminated and disappointed when I wanted to support local businesses.

Horrendous bartender during the motown event. I ordered a beer. I had to repeat myself four times,I eventually removed my mask and said beer loudly. Eventually the lady next to him said beer really loudly seens she'd understood me the first time. He then says "it's because you have an accent your hard to understand". Im English I speak the language he's having difficulty with. Then to add more insult he says " say beer again for me, go on say beer for me" as if im a performing seal. He's beyond insulting and needs to learn people skills.
Ridiculously overpriced, food mediocre. Wine was ok.
I went here with my daughter before our show around 12:30 on 12/17/23. We got a $12 beer and an $18 mixed drink. I found out on the way home from my daughter when he saw she was paying cash, he charged her $37 for the $30 drinks. She had $40 in cash. He turned the screen towards himself and told her to put the money in the tip jar. My daughter is young and still a little naive so she got ripped off by this crook. I will never go here again.
BEWARE. SCAMMERS. Server charged us for a drink we never ordered or received. When I pointed it out, she doubled down. I had to insist we needed a refund. She went to issue a “refund” and charged us twice. Almost $200 for a few snacks because of her incompetence. Make sure to check your tab before you pay, it seems like they’re trying to pull a scam on people they think won’t notice.
I went here with my father at 12:30pm on 12/17/23 before our show. He had a $12 beer and I had a $18 mixed drink. I went to pay with $40 cash for a $30 tab and when the worker (I don’t remember his name) saw I was paying cash, he pulled the screen toward him said my total was $37 and told me to put all of the cash into the tip jar he then said okay and walked away without giving me my change that I should have gotten. I am still a bit naive and didn’t realize what was going on until I talked to my father about it after we left. I am never coming here again and I don’t recommend it.
I ordered a pizza that was $30 around 6:40 pm before a 7:30 pm show. I was running late and thought that this would be the best option for a quick bite. My food never came out and by 7:15 pm the bartenders were giving away food that hadn’t been claimed (probably because they had waited too long and cut their losses). I took a burrito they were offering and had 5 minutes to eat before going into the show. The bartender said that she had just put my order in, even though I had ordered 30 minutes ago on the kiosk. Overall, if you’re in a hurry before a show, don’t come here. It seems they are way too understaffed to be cranking out food before a show that doesn’t allow late arrivals and quick service is crucial. The burrito was pretty yummy though I will say!
