La Playa Restaurant & Bar

Such a fun place. Krystal took care of us and she is so sweet. It is next to a kiteboarding, paddle boarding shop. So it’s fun to sit and drink mimosas and watch the kite surfers. And on top of the amazing view the food is great.

I absolutely love going to this restaurant! Right on the beach, excellent service and delicious eats. There drinks are also fabulous, from espresso to mimosas, this restaurant has it all! One of my favorites in Los Barilles!

Shrimp tacos were excellent-fresh and very tasty. Pricing was a bit on the high side, but you are paying for the view!

We found this little gem using Google Maps. The food, views, and vibes were great. Easy parking and the restaurant caters to locals and tourists. We would highly recommended this place to anyone visiting Los Barriles. We wish we were staying another night as they were going to have live salsa music and dancing right on the beach.

Good food with an awesome location! We really enjoyed the chorizo omelette and açaí bowl for breakfast. The food is a little more gringo-style than other restaurants in the area, but they are catering to ex-pats for sure. Can’t beat that beachfront view!

Outstanding place to eat. It's right on the beach and tough to find by road, but you can drive up on the beach and park right there. All of our meals were great, and the portions were large enough that we didn't have room for dessert. Our only comment was that the drinks are a little on the small side.

We love coming here for breakfast lunch and dinner! Great atmosphere and great service. The food does take a little long to come out but it’s always amazing and the servers are wonderful. Salsa night on Thursdays are a blast! And live music on Sundays are such a treat for brunch!

This is by far the best restaurant in Los Barilles. Everything is amazing here: the food, the service, the location. Their chef is world class—best chef in Los Barilles by a lot. If you have fresh fish, this is where you need to take it. Their team of chefs are some of the best I’ve ever seen in all my years of traveling.

We were at La Playa on a special night - Valentine's Day 2025 - so our experience is likely different from a regular night. There was a great live band with dancing; there was a reduced selection menu; wonderful sitting next to the beach & watching the full moon ride.

We just had a beer this time but we have eaten there often The food and live bands are great. The atmosphere is the best you are sitting right on the beach and get to watch the kitters and whales go by.

Beautiful location with good food for a small and quiet town like Los Barrilles. This is the only restaurant on the beach so there is a lot of potential. The food can be elevated a notch but it was still enjoyable as is. The eggs Benedict with smocked mackerel was the highlight of my morning!

Stopped by here two times. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. We had a delicious eggs and chorizo platter and another fried egg platter. Both were very fresh and delicious. They have excellent drinks and a beer menu. They are polite and professional. The night time looked fun but we did not stick around for it.

Nice location right on the water with some tables right on the sand and cozy lighting. There was live music on a Monday. The food like grilled fish was fresh but a bit bland in terms of preparation. Drinks were just ok.

They kindly accommodated us though we didn’t have a reservation for the party. They had roasted pigs for tacos on the beach but the tacos were very fatty and lots of gristle. The cocktails were exceptional. I think had we gone on a regular night my review would be different, but this was our experience last night.

We were a table of six and no one enjoyed their food. There was nothing specifically wrong, just poor execution. All items needed better seasoning, more love. Small taco stands in town have outstanding food - El Viejo, Herman's or even the new place Dodo's. But La Playa would benefit from having someone in the kitchen checking the dishes. Things like pico de gallo should have flavour and seasoning. The guac was terrible. Prices are high and don't meet expectations.
