Opinions de La Esquina Los Gatos
Just across DMV, we had lunch here. The Churros and Horchata are a must try! They are the best I have tried so far, from all other places. We also ordered shrimp burrito and quesadilla with steak which were both of big proportions and tasted good for the price. Service was great and fast, they were all accomodating. Good ambience as well. Definitely will recommend this! ⭐️
Delicious food! We had the carnitas burrito and carnitas plate — both were full of flavor and big portions. A little on the expensive side, but worth it. Friendly service and we’ll be back!
We ran into one of our favorite restaurant owners. Jesse, former owner of Casa Teresa. we stopped by his restaurant in Los Gatos called La Esquina Mexican, located across the street from the Los Gatos DMV. The food was great. The atmosphere was nice and his coworker Melissa was a very nice person and very attentive. It was fun to catch up and talk about old times. If you have a chance, I encourage you to stop in and say hi and have bite to eat.
La Esquina is a great low-key spot that feels like a small-town Mexican restaurant—a refreshing break from the over-the-top and overpriced for what you get dining scene in Los Gatos. The chicken mole was excellent—rich, flavorful, and made me want to explore more of the menu. The al pastor street tacos were fantastic, full of flavor and cooked just right. I probably won’t order the chile verde tacos again, but everything else was strong enough that I’m already looking forward to coming back. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere and great food—what more could you ask for?
Very good food and the TJ burrito is a winner. Everyone is friendly and prompt service.

Beautiful and remodeled place, food is delicious, come and try it!!!
Best Mexican food in Los Gatos. Highly recommend you stop in for lunch.
This is not your typical taqueria. It's a cute restaurant, outside of downtown Los Gatos, but its food is quite fine. Don't be fooled by the fact that is outside of the main downtown area. I am Mexican and a bit of a foodie, and I am impressed by La Esquina. It is fresh, very well prepared and the presentation is always very nice. Their mole is delicious and their cilantro shrimp are awesome. Those are some of my favorites, but everything I have had there, has been very good. The service is great and the atmosphere relaxed, and friendly; whether you are all dressed up or in your grubbiest wear, you will feel comfortable and welcome. I highly recommend La Esquina.
My memory of this place is that of "Way too much good food". Loved every bite of their enchiladas, Burritos, Salad bowls. And being a vegetarian, the above in their veggie "avatars" were simply to die for :-). Just thinking about that food makes my mouth water. Back then, all for 8-10USD. and it was always worth it.
This has been a great treasure. It is not, nor does it pretend to be, a Mexican restaurant for “gringos”. This is the “real deal”. I am a gringo, and I speak Spanish, but I have observed that all who do not, will still find a warm reception. It is a simple, no frills, classy place, with pure authenticity. On frills, if you like stuff really hot, just ask them for the “secret Salsa” with Habanero… they will ask “how did you know?”, and you just answer “I know what the cooks are up to when nobody is watching :-)”… of course, you must ask for this salsa in Spanish. More on frills, Fish tacos, pretty much anything they prepare will be hard to find at a Gringo Mex restaurant. I repeat, this is the real deal.
Since it re-opened with new owners there has been a huge change for the better. The service is amazing and they are cooking delicious food for a good price. I've tried three dishes so far and I will definitely be a returning customer!
We had 2 burrito bowls and fish tacos and all were delicious. The waitress was great, friendly and efficient. I will return!

My wife and I go there at least once or twice a month and the food is always top notch.

Very delicious street tacos, salsa was on point and waitress super sweet and attentive. Got our food within 10 minutes. Highly recommended.
Found this place when we were in the mood for a quick burrito lunch. The burritos are pretty big and packed with tasty fillings. We came back for taco Tuesday and we're happy we did. The place down the street may have cheap margaritas on Tuesday but I doubt the food is as good. We didn't have to wait at all for a table that night. I'm surprised given how good the food is and how busy the other places were. I guess this will be our family secret?
Great little spot to have dinner. You can also dine outside. They have mixed drinks and they also sell beer in a bottle or on tap. I recommend having the chimichanga beef with the Colorado sauce it was fire. My girlfriend had a combination plate that had a hard shell taco and an enchilada. The plate also came with rice and beans which were really good. Remember I'm back in Los Gatos I will definitely hit this spot again.
My wife and I were actually on our way to eat at Oak and Rye when we decided to pop into La Esquina Mexican food. I had a carnitas burrito and my wife had the street tacos. We were both extremely happy with our choices. My carnitas had some crispy pieces that made my day. My wife said the tacos were moist, tender and very flavorful.

Pass: be careful if you're allergic to onions... even if you ask for no onions they'll give you extra onions, I mean there's more onion than meat here -- I assume they did this on purpose Even at that, it wasn't a very good taco to start, chips are old, and salsa is level 2

Well, this was disappointing. I used to live in Los Gatos and I’d always wanted to stop into this one because Andale’s was closer to me. Also I always want to support a mom and pop place so after a visit to the DMV I convinced my son to stop in. Hesitantly my son agreed because it was a 4.1 stars and he was sure it was going to be bad. We were hungry so I said even if we just have a taco and bean dip and depending on what’s on the menu. Still we were scared so we didn’t want to order too much. We split an enchiladas Suizas, He didn’t stop and properly greet us like you would expect an acquaint mom and Pop kind of place. I spoke Spanish to him so I don’t think it’s because he was uncomfortable then he side eyed me when I told him we were going to split an order. He seemed to be in a huge hurry even though there were 3 people at the end of their meal. He quickly took our order and left, quickly brought it out extra plates without asking. The green sauce for the enchiladas was, I’m sure, canned and if it wasn’t, it tasted like it. The beans were absolutely from a can and if they weren’t, they tasted like it. The rice was the only item on the menu that was decent. It was three very small tortillas and needless to say not enjoyable at all, we hesitantly ate it because we were hungry, but otherwise we wouldn’t have eaten it. The Horchata was good and served in a nice looking cup $6.50 but the enchiladas were whopping $22. $22 is not a lot if they are good enchiladas the portion of beans was in a tiny small container. Not worth $22. The bill altogether was 31 for the drink and taxes with tip is $36.79 I was really hoping this was a good place and maybe they are with other foods don’t order the Enchiladas Suizas or the beans 🤣

Probably best to say if you know good Mexican food look elsewhere. Ordered chicken soup and it was one of the worst I ever tasted. Charge extra for chips and salsa [Los Gatos...] really disappointed. Maybe this is more of taqueria than a restaurant.

Just went for 5 de mayo, Never again. 4 out of 5 people threw up on the way home. The chicken burrito was carnitas. Not chicken. Tortilla was soggy like if it was wet even tho i asked for a dry burrito. HIGHLY DONT recommend the burritos
I feel bad writing this review, because I have eaten here before and it was really good. However we ordered from here recently and the food was really poor. The salad had a moldy taste like it had been left in the fridge for a long time and the refried beans were quite oily like they had been microwaved. And in the end we couldn't finish it. I am hoping that we just caught these guys on a bad day.
