Amazing service, in my opinion this restaurant has the best service in Lubbock.

Last minute dinner was amazing. Including a fiery dessert. I highly recommend stopping in.

It was a romantic, quite, enjoyable place where a person and relax, visit and enjoy wine, and your delicious meal. Out steaks were so good, fixed to perfection! The sides were very good. The cake was heavenly! The Service was Excellent! No complaints! For Special Occasions to really feel you have been somewhere that you don't go to often.

We love Double Nickel! I always start with a Lemon Drop Martini because they are the best I have ever had anywhere. Perfect amount of lemon/sugar combo, and they shake them so well that they have icicles on top! So delicious! The Lobster Bisque is a must and a perfect start to dinner. For my entree, I love the Ribeye, and it is always prepared perfectly. The corn is amazing and one of my favorites as well. I can't say enough about this steakhouse!

Romantic restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere, amazing service, and phenomenal steak. We brought a 4 month old baby and gave us a private room so we wouldn’t bother other patrons, but we would still enjoy our dinner, so thoughtful. We were seated within seconds of walking in. Our server, Anthony, did a wonderful job. Highly recommend.

We live in Central Texas and came to town to take our Tech daughter to dinner for her birthday. We all had a great time with great meals. A very nice surprise in Lubbock to have such a great steakhouse!

Get ready for absolutely the most jaw dropping West Texas Steakhouse experience. Cuts of meat from the finest cattle surely sent from the hills of Elysium will shatter your expectations of how a steak should taste. Prepare your tastebuds to transcend the bounds of basic steakhouse fare, for once you've tried their Steak Au Poivre, or a ribeye with peppercorn sauce, you've stepped into a new reality. They limit the menu to what they are capable of creating that will overwhelm your emotions. If you leave without shedding at least one tear of joy, you could have some sort of emotional malfunction.

Brittany A. Provided exemplary service to us throughout the night. We were celebrating a special occasion and there’s no better place to celebrate than Double Nickel. Tonight was no exception! We were so surprised when Brittany told us she was still training, her level of professionalism made it seem like she had been providing high level service here for years. There is absolutely no question, we will definitely be back.

This place is old school fancy. No hats on in the building. Drunks are fantastic, food is out of this world, and the services matches. The desserts are all HUGE and very good, and they will even light the bananas foster on fire at your table if you want them too. If you ask for a to go wrap instead of a box, they wrap your leftovers in foil and make a swam out if it. I've never been anything but 100% pleased with my experience at the Double Nickel.

Excellent melt in your mouth filet with a wonderful wine sauce. The mashed potatoes and cream corn were out of this world. The martini was so tasty. The chocolate cake is the size of Manhattan I swear. It is so good but huge. I wish they had bread instead of the cheese stick or bring the cheese stick out before the entree.

Went to celebrate my wife's graduation. So glad she found this place. Service was top notch. Food was excellent. We had a medium sized group, with an infant. They brought out stuff for the baby, kept our drinks filled, made sure we had everything we needed. Recommendations were spot on, and they have a nice selection of whiskeys, wine, and mixed drinks to keep everyone happy. I'm pretty sure we were the last people in the restaurant at closing. No hassle from staff, we didn't feel rushed in the least! Definitely worth a stop if you're craving some good steak, and want to have a great experience while you're there. Thanks to the staff for such an experience!

We ate here for our Valentine's dinner. We had reservations and were seated promptly. Champagne was served. The service was impeccable. The steak was out of the world, melted in your mouth. We splurged and ordered dessert, Bananas foster - Oh my Word!! It was amazing. Superb place for a romantic dinner. They have a very unique way of giving you your take home food!

Enjoyed our anniversary dinner last night at Double Nickel, our third year in a row to celebrate there. In a city with so many chain restaurants it’s special to experience the local charm and ambience that is the Double Nickel experience. It’s a locally-owned steakhouse that consistently delivers an outstanding meal and authentic service. We appreciate the management for operating this local gem. If you’ve been, you know. If not, you should.

Honestly I am picky when it comes to eating out , that being said I was very happy with the double nickel. The service was amazing , the food Devine , the atmosphere high end . All In all I forgot I was in Lubbock , it made me feel like one of my favorite high ends restaurants in Fort Worth . Not to mention the pricing was fair . For four people the bill was very affordable. We will definitely be back for several occasions.

I have to say this is probably the best steakhouse in town. The stuffed mushrooms were phenomenal, the spinach Rockefeller was so flavorful and amazing, now let's talk about the ribeye. I got it Pittsburgh rare and it was 100% on point. Each bite was an explosion of juice and excellent flavor. Perfectly marbled. My waiter's name was Jacob, he was extremely polite and attentive. He was as delightful as the meal. I offer my sincere thankfulness to double nickel for a phenomenal experience. 5 Stars from my entire family.

1st time dinning at DK and it was fantastic! On recommendation to try the lobster bisque, fantastic. The NY strip for two was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Love the potatoes and corn sides. Our waiter made our experience even better. The bananas foster with an espresso martini is a must.

Had to share how sweet our server was. Our son has nonverbal autism and we had never taken him to a nice restaurant. Oscar was over the top understanding and helpful. He did everything to make sure he was taken care of and made little accommodations to help him. The food is good, but the server was really above and beyond. We appreciate his kindness and care!

We had a great first experience here. Food was delicious and our waiter was awesome! They placed us in a room with just our family because we had my Great Grandson with us(toddler). We are here for the first time this past weekend. Carter was our server and was wonderful! He talked us through the menu and made excellent recommendations for every course! The crab stuffed mushrooms were cheesy, full of crab, and perfectly cooked, our only complaint was that they’re weren’t enough of them at only 4 pieces. We each had the double nickel salad which was fresh and dressings were tasty. We also both ordered the steak au poivre, steaks were cooked as requested medium rare, a good size at 14 oz each and the creamed corn was a standout. The bananas foster for dessert because who doesn’t want their dessert to be lit on fire! Overall a great experience! We won’t have many reasons to be in Lubbock again in the near future but Dpubel Nickel will be top of the list for when we are in town!

Definitely a high end steakhouse! This is my first time eating here, and I was honestly so impressed. I had the filet mignon, and it cut like butter. (My sides were the potatoes and corn, which were also amazing) My steak was made medium rare, just like I had asked for it. Upon receiving your steak, you’re asked to cut into it and verify that the steak is cooked properly to your liking. We even got a tasting of a complementary martini. We celebrated a friend’s birthday, and had a complementary chocolate cake that we shared among 5 of us. It was so delicious. I can’t wait to dine here again!

The food was delicious! The service was amazing and respectful! The atmosphere was dim and intimate! Music was romantic and at good volume. The new York strip was tasty and seasoned to perfection. I wish I had room to try the bananas foster, but we will definitely get it next time! The complimentary martini was delicious! We had a very pleasant experience, I look forward to returning in the near future! Highly recommend 10/10! **Just a heads up, men aren't allowed to wear caps inside and the online price menu is not up to date.

We took our son here for his 15th birthday. If requested they will acknowledge your birthday. Our waiter forgot so we don’t know they do. Make sure to remind them. I ordered the Double Nickel salad. It was tart, but if you like sweet tasting salad it was good. We order crab stuffed mushrooms and they were phenomenal. Lots of yummy sauce to enjoy. We ordered the Bananas Foster. They lit it at the table. It was fun to watch and delicious. The establishment definitely makes you feel like you need to dress up and act “proper”. However, I did see people in shorts and casual wear. The hey only enforce the “no hat” policy. Wear your Sunday best! The prices were through the roof so it’s definitely a special occasion experience for the working class.

We made reservations for my son’s birthday for 5:30 on 9/23. We were warmly welcomed and immediately seated. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and very helpful. We ordered the bacon shrimp and crab stuffed mushrooms. Both appetizers were delicious. For my entree, I got the ribeye “double nickel” style topped with lump crab and shrimp with spinach rockefeller and sautéed mushrooms. My steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were delectable. But the best part of our evening was the bananas foster! Not only was it the flambé fun to watch, but the dessert was one of the best desserts we’ve ever had. It was a night to remember, and a great way to celebrate a birthday. We had a good time!

The appetizers were excellent. The wedge salad came with toasted bread and tomato slices... The toasted bread was crunchy and firm, yet easy to break. And the Bleu cheese dressing was one of the best I've tried. Not to mention the absolutely crispy bacon on top of it. The steaks were thick cuts of beef expertly prepared. And the service was just impeccable. The real challenge here is finding something to complain about.

I really enjoyed dining at this swanky restaurant. Our server, Anthony, provided a top-notch service for our evening meal. Gave us some great recommendations in selections for our meal. My sister and I decided to have the 22oz steak for two and it came with two sides each. Per the suggestion of Anthony, we both ordered the spinach which had parmesan cheese on top and we also each ordered bake potatoes. She had a pomitini and I had a glass of Moscato, it was good. With all we had ordered, it was a lot and couldn't finish all but it was all so delicious. Enjoyed this place very much!

The food and drinks here are fantastic. I've never been disappointed with my service, the management walks around and is very accommodating if you have special requests. But y'all, the inside looks like a brothel. The decor cracks me up. I expect saloon girls to come try to take my husband into an upstairs bedroom at any moment. Regardless, they have fantastic steak and make a mean Manhattan, so I'm happy.

J

We were seated 20 mins after our reservation and never received our appetizer we ordered. Understanding it was Valentine's day and they were very busy, we weren't too upset. The staff was very apologetic and gave us free desert for forgetting our appetizer. Monica was a fantastic waitress despite running all over the place working her butt off. Great staff, good food and great atmosphere.

M
Meagan Kloss

Best part of the meal was dessert. Was not impressed overall with the food. House salad was just sliced tomato, egg, and romaine lettuce- could be higher end. Salmon was a bit dry, but my husband enjoyed his steak. Overall felt it could be nicer for the hype.

The first time I came to this restaurant, the service and food were impeccable. That was January 2012. At that time, I gave the review five stars. I’m now lowering my review slightly to four stars because the most recent experience in September 2019, though very good, was not quite what I expected. My wife and I came here for a special anniversary. I was surprised and disappointed that complementary bread was not provided. Also, the server seemed a little inexperienced for such a fine establishment. He neglected to provide us with plates or silverware for the Bananas Foster. He also sat the check on top of food on the table, so when I picked it up I got slightly messy. Other than these minor quibbles, the food was very good and the service actually much better than most of the average restaurants around the city. It’s a great place to go on a special occasion. We both had Filet Mignon, creamed corn, and smashed potatoes. Hers was the regular steak and mine was kabobs with bell peppers. Recommended!

C

The atmosphere was great, but I was really disappointed to see guests dressed in cutoffs and sweatshirts. The food was very good, but served so hot that I burned my tongue on the first bite. Double Nickle came highly recommended.

L

If you're trying to impress your prom date then this place is for you. For a "steakhouse" they have a very limited selection. The RibEye I had was indeed cooked to perfection, the menu states "well marbled" which insinuates you should expect a lot if unnecessary fat but that is not the case this Ribeye was quite the opposite it was more on the leaner side of Ribeys with the perfect amount of fine lined marbling. Kids these days think a Ribeye should be 50% fat, not the case here. Okay the steak a perfect cut of Prime beef, cooked med rare to perfection, but.... A bit too salty for me, I'm not a fan of over seasoning. Vegetables.... again not much to choose from, creamed corn? Anybody can cream frozen corn. Corn nuggets dry, firm and wrinkled. The mashed potatoes ? Yeah I've had better from a package microwaved in a cup of water. The cheesecake ? Very dry.

I used to go for the bearnaise sauce, something we can't find in Lubbock. They no longer make it now. Their homemade blue cheese dressing is good

A hidden gem. Set as an upper scale restaurant, but with no real dress code. Great food, wonderful service. Reminded me of Carne Vino in Las Vegas. Well done!

N
Nick Haigood

Great steakhouse! Had an amazing dinner, friendly service and a wonderful atmosphere. Overall 4 star experience. Would have been 5 stars, but the shrimp cocktail was overcooked terribly and the shrimp were chewy and dull, not crisp and delicate like its supposed to be. The NY Strip and mushrooms made up for it.

R
R Wilson

Steaks are great. Top two in Lubbock. Chilean sea bass is the best I’ve had, one of my favorites. Atmosphere is a little stiff but nice place nonetheless. Service is usually top notch. It’s priced in line with most upper-end steakhouses but I was frustrated to find out they started charging for bread… I’m spending $200+ on a meal, you should provide the bread. Feels a little like double nickel and dime.

V
Veronica B

Filet mignon steaks were good, side salads were WAY overpriced for just lettuce and egg slices. Vegetables were just okay. The presentation was not good, It was as though the steak was laid on the plate and everything else was just slopped on. Appetizer of Crab stuffed mushrooms was definitely overpriced as there was no hint of any crab meat. We were told that the crab was in chunks but it never made it to our mushrooms. The dessert, bananas foster was good but $20 was overpriced as well. The cocktails were good but also overpriced. The prices were simply too high for the atmosphere and presentation. I think if more attention were placed on detail, it would have felt special.

I LOVE the food at Double Nickel. I usually always have to have the Lobster Bisque. It’s top notch. I only go two or three times a year and I typically go to celebrate my birthday with my best friend. Yesterday was one of those days and the lobster bisque didn’t disappoint. Also, shared a shrimp cocktail and that was fairly good. I would have stayed for the main course and ordered more dishes but I was rather taken aback by something that I’ve never experienced before. I asked our waitress if the bartender could make me a mock-tail, as my friend and I have been on a sober journey for years. I have never had a restaurant with a full service bar deny or not even give the option of any mocktail. Our waitress went to ask the bartender and she said they couldn’t make mocktails. Not even a Shirley Temple was I offered… I found this rather strange and honestly it did sour the evening a bit and we went elsewhere. If this is truly the case, I urge you all to reconsider at some point in the future. If I’m celebrating an occasion, I’d like to have something to drink that looks pretty. Either way, thank you for the amazing food. Hopefully, in the near future, I will dine in with you all again and I will always recommend you all.

The service was great and our waiter was very friendly. Unfortunately the food was not as great. The crab cakes were good but the shrimp felt like dried out and rubbery. The steaks were cooked alright but the quality of meat was terrible. Two filets and most of the steak was too chewy to eat. The sides didn't have much flavor to them.

r

Ordered our meal. Price of bread was too high. Bread needs improvement. The meal was good but a little bit high priced. The service was good. Overall the experience was just okay but by no means great. You would expect more for the price they charge. Maybe just a off night.

NO HATS ALLOWED!!! A fine dining establishment that doesnt allow hats yet staples their wine menu together 😆. Also, when you give your number to the hostess they automatically sign you up for some text mailing list without asking!!!!! For our appetizer we ordered Caprese... it was melted cheese (couldn't even tell if it was Mozzarella) under ripe tomatoes and tiny splash of basil drizzle- that's it- no balsamic reduction, no oil, just an under ripe tomatoe some melted mystery cheese and some basil drizzle. Not impressed. Wife had the Lamb I had the NY strip. Proteins were great, sides were meh.... I got kinda mushy snap peas and some mushrooms, wife also got kinda mushy snap peas and mashed potatoes. Matthew our server was amazing and so was Will the manager who came by and said hello. For an "upscale" fine dining establishment the hostess shouldn't be wearing sneakers if I can't wear a hat inside, try getting holders for your wine menus rather than stapling sheets of paper together. Great staff and good meat, I could do without all the rest however.

Very disappointed with my experience. I come to Lubbock every month and have tried lots of different spots. I kept waiting to go to double nickel and finally gave it a go tonight. First off I ordered my food and my salad came out 2 seconds before my steak arrived. No big slower night, I like to taste throughout my meal anyway. The steak it self was fine...nothing special but also not terrible, creamed corn tasted like it was frozen corn that hadn't been recooked. Again not terrible but not a 55$ entree either. (Also the menu had a different price for the ribeye but nonetheless) My bartender/server (I sat at the bar) not once checked in on me until the food was gone. For my money I will choose to return to west table or la sirena

Excellent food, but the music was too loud. When the waiter initially said something to me, I told him to please repeat it so I could hear him over the music. When he did, I asked him please to turn the music down. He said he would have to speak to the manager about it. Apparently, the manager said no. I expect to have to talk louder at a sports bar. A fine restaurant should have music that is noticeable, but not obtrusive. Double Nickel fails in this respect. The next day, I mentioned this experience to a co-worker, who immediately lodged the same complaint. If you want great food plus music that is beautiful but unobtrusive, go down the street a couple blocks and eat at Olive Garden. They sure know how to do it. Thank you.

We came for my son’s graduation. They advise on the menu to order medium well or better, told us it would still be pink in the middle. When it arrived, this $55 steak was grey inside and thinner than a steak from Outback. Service was sloooooooow too. On the plus side, the manager apologized, but it really wasn’t the graduation dinner we were envisioning. My daughter’s salmon was great, my filet was also good. I really wanted this to be an extra special night for our last night in Lubbock. I booked these reservations six months ago.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful experience overall. We were greeted as soon as we entered, and we notice the place had a low light atmonphere with some Jazz in the background. A perfect start for a birthday dinner celebration. Once we sat on the table we waited a litttle too much for the waiter to come and ask for drinks. He gently filled the cups with water and asked for our drinks. We ordered two drinks; however, one came first and the other one came 5 minutes later. First mistake, please make sure you bring the drinks at the same time, that way none of us has to wait, and we can toast together. We ordered the beef points as appetizers, they were delicious! The sauce was amazing. Then, We decided to share the New York Strip for two au poivre (pepper sauce) - If you like pepper you must try it! I ordered a baked potatoe and asparagus for n my sides, and my girlfriend ordered Loaded baked potatoe and cream corn. The presentatioj of the plates was amazing. The waiter served a plate with the sides first, and then he brought a wooden board with the steak. He cut the steak in pieces and then served to the pieces to the plates. The steak was cook te perfection - medium. However, We both feel the sides were not hot - especially the potatoes. They were hard and not soft and fluffy. They were undercooked, it seems the plates were outside for too long just waiting for the steak to finish cooking. That didnt bother us though, the flovor of the steak could outshine any judgement of the sides. We ordered a couple more drinks, but only one came. Then we ordered the mandarin orange cake for dessert. Before arrival, the waiter kindly removed the crumbs and place new spoons for us. After a.couple minutes, the waiter brought the cake, and it was delicious! Very moist and flavorful - just perfect to switch to a sweet flavor. Now comes the check. Well, even though it was a good experience we feel it was overpriced. When you pay $75 for a Stake it's not anymore about how good the steak taste. You are also paying for excellent service with the best sides the kitchen can cook. And we honestly feel there is room for improvement. I will give a chance to this place again. It has been the best service we have had in West Texas.

Hate to give a local “legend” a bad review but I am kind of in the middle about our experience. There was ten of us so I know it was a challenge. The waiter was good but the service was slow. Sat down at 6:45 and didn’t eat until 8:50. Totally unacceptable. Then when the food came it was sub par at best. 4 of us were highly dissatisfied. A few of us got “highly marbled” steaks which were actually solid chunks of fat and 2 of us didn’t have any flavor at all and a little over cooked. They manager made it right and didn’t charge us but the slow service left us hungry and late to our next event we had planned. Give it a shot and see what you think but I hadn’t been in 10 years for a reason. Pictures of the “marbled steak” below.

Ordered a New York strip and 14oz Filet, both well done with NO pink. The strip was charred but ok. The filet was blood red. The waiter was embarassed & asked if he could take it back. At first I told him no worries, the end piece was fine. However, when I began eating, the rest of the steak was not only red but cold. He came by to check again and I asked him to please have it heated up. After about 15 mins it came back a bit warmer but blood red still. After one bite I just decided to take it home and cook it. The broccoli side was cold, baked potato fine. For a $73 piece of meat I have to cook myself, I’d have to say it’s a bit pricey. The waiter was super apologetic and gifted me another potato/broccoli side. After all, it wasn’t his fault. I’m almost 70 and never have sent anything back. Our bill was $189, for which I usually expect a nice meal for me and the wife. Needless to say, I’ll eat elsewhere going forward.

Hate to say it but I wasn't too happy with my visit. We were seated at 7 served dinner at 8:40 & we were a table of 2, 1 appetizer and no desert. I would order beer and it would take 20 minutes for it to come. The lobster bisque was delicious. Steaks seems to be poor cuts and chewy. We were served at the same time our neighbor tables were served and they were seated after our appetizers came out. Very disappointed. I will likely give them another try but it seems being the only game in town other than the country club has allowed them to get lazy. Also, we didn't address it last night but there was a giant drop of blood on a clean plate that was brought to us. We didn't raise a stink but we should have.

Amazing service. Quality was not was not even close to expectations in relation to prices. Wouldn’t return. Even bananas foster was a let down as the cake was dry and chewy. “Grilled” shrimp was a over baked scampi. $17 for 4 dry shrimp. Really wanted to be wowed when I saw the prices. Truth is I can find several places with better food for half the cost.

We had reservations to celebrate my sons birthday. This was our 1st and LAST time to EVER come here! From the moment we walked in the door the hostesses and other individuals just standing around the hostess stand were not welcoming at all they were actually quite rude in their demeanor. As we were about to walk to our table the girl seating us informed 2 members of out party that they needed to remove their hats? Huh? Yes remove their hats! Now being a southern girl myself I can understand removing your hat at the table during the prayer or when your dinner is served It is VERY OLD SCHOOL but polite. This should have been communicated explicitly on your website! We were accommodating but not pleased. After being seated we ordered our drinks My martini took at least 15 minutes to receive The restaurant was not busy at all. The bartender might want to learn how to make a proper slightly dirty martini as well and without ice all in it! Our waitress had the personality of a mule and might need to take a class on how to be more personable if she is going to continue to work in the service industry! After receiving our dinner my steak was to be M it was almost raw so it had to go back to the kitchen I ordered a side of asparagus I literally got 3 pieces of asparagus 🤣 The steak was pretty good but not $55 good! After dinner we asked the waitress about a dessert that came out with sparklers for our sons birthday she said she could bring my son some chocolate cake for his birthday. I won’t even get into what the cake tasted like but my son didn’t eat it. When we received the bill we were also charged $7.95 for a PLATE! I’m not kidding she charged my youngest son for a plate so i could split my 12oz filet with him Such a great disappointment to have spent $250 on dinner for 4 people. Thank the Lord we have amazing steakhouses here in Dallas Tx that actually know what fine dining is all about and how to make someone feel special for a special occasion!

2 stars- best part about our visit and only items worth the double nickel price were the drinks. Tables were so crammed in the dining area, to get to and from our table without disturbing every person in our path was impossible. ***bathrooms were disgusting**** Husband said his shoes stuck to the floor in the men's bathroom. He also had to ask for the towels to be refilled after not being able to dry his own hands. The womens smelled worse than a sewer. Our waiter was extremely polite, professional, and helpful. However, he was very overloaded. He had a very large party and several tables in the main dining area. Food... was subpar at best! Not to mention the wait. Steak was ordered rare and came out medium well if not well done. For the price, that was a huge disappointment.

$50.00 ribeye. About as thin as a ribeye from the dollar general.

The menus were on clipboards, which does not go with the atmosphere of a steakhouse that claims to be fine dining. Their wine list was limited and more overpriced than other restaurants. They said we could choose two sides. They only had three options to choose from and only one was a vegetable. Ridiculous considering the prices. They used to have a broader menu with more options. Will not return.

Over priced food and they automatically charge each person bread service. Don’t waste your money. Roadhouse is the way.

My family and I went in on 6-12-2023 we were seated in the back room away from all the other guest. There were plenty of open tables in the dinning area. We were judged by our color of our skin. I felt very bothered. I couldn’t believe that we are still being judge by color in 2023 . My children had to witness this as well. No we didn’t stay to eat. I could just imagine what they would have done to our food. God bless these people .

So disappointed. First time visitor with an out of town guest in tow. Sadly I now know why this restaurant remained half empty on a Saturday night. They did not have the wine I wanted, nor Glenfiddich, Sambuca, or Espresso. The house salad (that costs an extra $6.95) was basically shredded lettuce, my hot appetizer came out after everyone else was done with theirs, and it was cold, and the bread, (an extra $2.50 per person), seemed to have come from a grocery store. The Manager tried to make it right but I recommend you go elsewhere.

I dressed up and took my family to this establishment. Right off the bat, they came to my table and asked me to take my flat cap off. I mentioned that I had a medical condition, but they said they did not allow hats in their establishment. I removed my hat reluctantly but complied. The waiter proceeded to get our order wrong several times, along with one of the steaks not coming out at all. After all the chaos, the manager came over and apologized. I appreciated his genuine concern. However, I will find another steakhouse next time I want to spend that kind of money.

We heard great things about this restaurant. Not so much. We went yesterday 2/20/21, had made reservations. Sat promptly. Received great service up until we received our appetizers. Then, supposedly, the staff sat ALL the walk-in customers and forgot the reservation guests. Horrible. Complete lack of management. Waited over an hour to receive main courses, food was cold. WHY would I want cold lobster and pay $56/tail for it??? Where was the was the quality person at the pass. Never saw a floor manager. Then I had to wait an hour to pay for this miserable food. If you go, only go with a party of 1 or 2 at a time. They cannot handle tables larger than 2. I saw many tables of 2 be seated and served way faster than us. Not happy. Will NOT be going back!! Ridiculous!

Do not eat here. Among the worst dining experiences we’ve had. The ownership has an air of entitlement and arrogance, which we only found out because the management was pedestrian and useless. The food is more or less decent, nothing to write home about. Overall, If you’re looking for a good night out at a steakhouse, there are plenty of options around Lubbock. Save yourself the regret.

For a place that is suppose to be a staple here in Lubbock, the only staple should be the one holding a going out of business sign. As we entered there was no one in there except the staff and the no hat policy is just ridiculous. Went here with my wife for a date night and this had to be the worst steak I’ve ever had. Plate was so hot it continued cooking my steak into well done nightmare. Cut of steak was definitely on the lower end. Forgot about double nickel style, for those of you who don’t know that means, $20+ for a tablespoon of burnt crab and two luke warm undercooked shrimp. Which doesn’t make sense, hence my plate was so hot I couldn’t even touch it. Sides were just as disappointing, 3 undercooked branches of asparagus for $12! Loaded baked potato was a hollowed out mess. After we left, had to smoke a cigarette to get the taste out of my mouth. Don’t waste your time or your money.

Do not recommend dining at this establishment. The general manager was extremely rude with absolutely no regard for customer service. I made a reservation over the phone 3+ weeks in advance for my graduation dinner. Two days before, they called and left no message, so I was unaware of the call. On the day before, I received a text confirming my reservation. They then called me late that night leaving a voicemail that said they would like to talk to me about moving the time. I saw the voicemail the next morning (morning of my graduation) and planned on giving them a call back after the ceremony, since the restaurant was not open that early. At around 4pm (as I was picking up my diploma) they called and told me that my 7pm reservation needed to be moved to either 4:45pm or 9:30pm. I asked to speak to the manager to know why this was the case given that I had booked weeks in advance. The manager was very rude over the phone and told me that “other people booked months in advance.” Which of course prompted me to ask why they booked me at all if there was no availability. To which he shrugged it off as a hostess error. I ended up rushing in my full cap and gown to the restaurant in order to try to get this resolved in person. Throughout my entire conversation with the manager, he made it very clear that he couldn’t care less about the major disruption to my graduation plans and the complete lack of organization on their part. At no point did he apologize and instead he was very disrespectful to both me and my family. Will never consider eating here ever again and do not recommend dining here. I only hope that the owner makes a change in management. Such a terrible way to spend what was supposed to be a happy day. Edit: Would like to again clarify that I received one call two days before with no message, one call the night before with a message that I saw the morning of, then a call at 4pm the day of, which I answered. I did not receive 3 messages. In all honesty, while very frustrating, the change in my reservation time is not what prompted me to leave this review. The disrespect that I received from the manager of this establishment and lack of consideration is why I would not recommend dining here. I understand that staff make mistakes, but trying to change a 7pm reservation made 3+ weeks ago to either 4:45pm or 9pm is extremely bad service, even if it’s done 2 days before (especially for a graduation dinner). Lastly, to the owner, I urge you to reevaluate your management. Mistakes happen, but no customer wants to feel disrespected. I understand that you were not there to witness the conversation, but for such a vital position, I think it would be worth reconsidering whether or not they are the right person for the job. Thanks.

We have eaten here before and found the food to be good. We were willing to spend $200 for our anniversary dinner. Our reservation was for 2 people. We were seated in a smaller room that had a party of 25 celebrating a wedding and 2 empty 8 person tables. The wedding party were very happy and shouting over each other to be heard. Even our server could not hear our order without a 2nd or 3rd try. As we were waiting for our food the two empty tables were filled. They found that they needed to shout so the others at their tables could hear them. The final straw was when the food came it came with a breaded cheese stick - after specifically saying one of us had to be gluten free. Removing the cheese stick isn't a solution because of cross contamination. We asked for the check so we could leave. The manager came and continued to give the standard corporate apology. When I repeated that I wanted the check and leave without eating he decided to comp the meal we didn't eat. This was the worst experience I've had at such an expensive resturant. We will not return and will discourage others from going themselves.

I try to refrain from lengthy negative review but this must be stated. The only positive was the ambiance. Came here due to all the verbal recommendations. Was the only person at the bar my entire time there (roughly 2 hours). Bartender was initially prompt by asking if I wanted to order a drink and dine in. I asked for their rye selection, then ordered a Sazerac Old Fashioned to later find out it was $65. I asked the bartender why their old fashions are so much more expensive and he said he gave me the better bottle............thanks for the heads up. I had been wondering the entire time why the bartender seen the empty drink and never asked if I wanted another. Which I was wanting another drink but glad I didn't since they are liberal with their selection and pricing. As for the food? It's extremely rare I go to a nice steakhouse and compliment a side dish over anything else. The spring salad was tasty, but what was expected. Ordered the filet medium and though it was cooked to the correct temperature, it was the toughest and chewiest piece of steak I've ever had. There wasn't an easy cut, rather concentrated sawing followed by lengthy chewing. The filet did have flavor. The mashed potatoes were tasty but cold. The best item was the creamed corn. IT wasn't hot, rather warm. However, it was delicious. Will I be back? Not in my lifetime.

I booked a graduation dinner for December 13th 2024 at this restaurant 3 weeks in advance. On the afternoon of that day they called me and told me that they can only accommodate my party at 4:00pm or 9:00pm. The restaurant manager told me there were people who made reservations before me son i can either accept the alternate times or go somewhere else, he hung up the phone. I do not recommend this restaurant. Their customer service is terrible.

It's the worst steak dinner ever! I would give zero stars if I could. I brought my family for special celebration. We had reservations but had to wait at least 45 minutes past reservation before we were seated. Ordered nice steaks, but 2 of the steaks came out wrong cut. Not one manager came to the table to apologize or say they were sorry for the delay and table the wrong items. The service and overall experience were terrible for spending $500+ for dinner.

I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others about our disastrous experience at Double Nickel in Lubbock, Texas. We held my wife’s birthday celebration in a private room, expecting a memorable night. What we got was anything but. First off, our waiter, Carter, was incredibly unprofessional and embarrassed me in front of my guests. On top of that, he promised a free dessert for the birthday celebration at the end of the night, yet never delivered. After spending over a thousand dollars on 10 guests, this was a slap in the face. To make matters worse, my wife’s steak was undercooked and had to be sent back to the kitchen. Even after that, it still wasn’t prepared correctly. We were hoping the manager would step in and fix things, but he never even came by our table to check on us. I tried to explain the issues to him at the end of the evening, and all he offered was a dessert to-go. How thoughtful. We expected better service. The lack of care, poor service, and downright awful management made this a truly embarrassing and disappointing evening. At this rate, it won’t be long before this place goes out of business. Save your time and money. There are plenty of other great restaurants in Lubbock.

We made our reservation a month in advance, yet still got hounded about our reservation the week leading up to it. Once seated (in the room to the right of the hostess station), service was almost nonexistent. Our steaks were cold, the sides were barely a tablespoon’s worth, and we were never checked on—not even for drink refills. Despite being the best dressed in the room, we felt dismissed, as if we didn’t belong or couldn’t afford it. No dessert was offered, and for the price, my fiancé and I could have grilled two steaks each at home and had a much better experience. The only saving grace of the night was having someone special to share it with. Wouldn’t return.

Wouldn’t know how it tastes and/or how service is because their useless incompetent management team was unable to maintain my reservation. I get a call the day before my reservation of them telling me that my reservation was cancelled due to overbooked. For a business that claims to be “upscale” and ”fine dining” and not being able to maintain their bookings straight, clearly sets their whole operations to less than a fast food joint standard. Having said that, lesson learned for trying to support other local businesses instead of continuing the support of our usual exemplary and reliable fine dining restaurant.
