Opinions de Garcia's Mexican Restaurant Lubbock
I've only been here once. The atmosphere was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious!!!! The servers were amazing and this is my new favorite tex-mex restaurant!!!!!!!! I loved the queso and the salsa has an amazing flavor. Definitely worth the money. The food looks great and smells great and the taste wraps all of the senses in yummy yummy yummy!!!!!
I love Garcia's and it's very underrated in Lubbock! They recently updated their furniture, which gives the restaurant a whole new look! We always have very fast, friendly service and they never get our order wrong. Plus, the food is delicious Tex-Mex which is in high demand around here! Not to mention, the price! It'll blow your mind how affordable they are for the quality of service and food you get!
First of all, the service was A+. A group of 11 family members was easily handled by the waitress. The food was you would expect from a Tex-Mex place. Sopaipillas as a dessert always ends the meal with smiles and memories of better times.
Excellent food & experience. Dined for the 1st time with older friends & they were very accommodating.
First time at Garcia's and we were not disappointed. We had taco's and enchiladas and they were good. The prices were reasonable and the service was outstanding. We never had to ask for anything, our waitress was on top of things.
I was with a party of 8; our waiter Kenneth was very friendly and attentive. He was okay with us all having separate checks. Our plates were empty at the end of the meal; hence we all enjoyed the food. Their stuffed sopapillas were really good. Not too spicy, but they do have hot sauce if you like them hotter. We will be going there again in the future.
Not good but great food .Service was fast and the atmosphere was about the same as mostl Mexican food. Restaurant.
Great service, food and atmosphere. No pics but we had 5 diff dishes and all were pleased and well fed. Special priced lunch menu.
I had never been to Garcia’s until recently. I had heard that the prices were high but whoever told me that was wrong. The prices are very reasonable especially for the amount of food you get. The green chili queso was so good and the salsa as well! The service has been amazing every time! It has become our new favorite Mexican restaurant and we will definitely be back again and again.
Me and my family always go here if we have Mexican food. The wait staff is always super nice, always quick with everything. The food is always great and out quick. And for what you get, the prices are very reasonable!! I always recommend this place and I will probably be back in the next few weekends with my family.
Went today for first time...everything was great. Staff was extremely friendly and made us feel so welcome. The chips and salsa were very good. Our food came out quickly and was piping hot! We will definitely be back! 😍
Love the food and our waitress was Stella so friendly we will always wait to sit in her section.
Great food with amazing service that made it an overall ideal experience. I will definitely go again.
My dad and I enjoyed a good meal together there just yesterday. Food was good service was as well. These folks are working hard and under staffed. But our glasses were never empty and the food was served steaming hot!
The food is great. I love to eat there !
We enjoyed guacamole and hatch green chili queso and wonderful chips and salsa before our meal. I had tacos and enchiladas
Very excellent food. Service was great. The waiter, Johnnie was very nice and always came back to see if everything was needed. I ask for a refill and he gave me one quickly. He shows he is really dedicated worker. I will go there again at the same time frame. I was there when it just opened.
Food was good, salsa was amazing. Great atmosphere and service as well
We barely got there last week before closing after a long drive from Cheyenne Wyoming and we were not disappointed. The food was absolutely the best Mexican dishes we've had in a long time. We were the last customers left in the Restaurant before they closed, and they went out of their way to make our long drive a day to remember. We are familiar with this Restaurant because they moved to Lubbock from our home town, Colorado City, Texas. Thanks guys for a wonderful evening and we miss Garcia's back home.
Garcia is a great place to eat. They have good Mexican food that one of the reasonably priced in Lubbock.
Some of the best Mexican food that I've had in a long time. And it wasn't overly price.
Great food! Down to earth environment. Good service and very polite.
Oh my goodness. The food was delicious. True Tex-Mex. The server was great. The noise in the restaurant was a bit overwhelming. But the noise was just people in a busy restaurant. I believe the concrete floors contributed the way the sound carried. Great place to eat though.
One of our favorite lunch spots. Lunch menu has 7 or 8 great choices that I believe includes ice tea. If lunch portions aren't your deal the full menu and bar is available as well. The entire staff is hardworking, efficient, and super friendly.
Was very good. Food was hot, exactly as ordered and reasonable pricing. Was seated quickly and served promptly.
Definitely so. It was delicious. I will be back for sure
My family and I came to your restaurant Friday 1/3/25 at 6:50 pm. Once I got my name on the list for a table of 5 +1 highchair it took no time for us to get a table. By 7:03 we were seated. While we waited for the rest of our crew to arrive we were greeted with a very kind young lady. Then my other kids arrived with my granddaughter. When our order came out you guys did a Fantastic job. Loved seeing what seemed to be managers helping. Thank you all very much for a Fabulous meal. Each plate has the perfect amount of food for each of us and my Avocado Enchiladas were Fantastic!! Yes, I did post the picture of my meal on Facebook and have had nothing but Great responses!! 💕💕💕
A very nice surprise. Upon entering the restaurant, the food smells are great. Everyone (staff) is smiling and seems happy to be there. The service was very quick and the food was great. They have a large menu selection to choose from. The atmosphere is very pleasing. We'll definitely be back.
We came a little late on a Friday night and had an expected wait. Once seated, Toby, our waiter did an outstanding job of keeping up with our table of 7. He kept our drinks full and kept us posted on the slightly longer wait time for our food. The food came out hot and delicious as usual! Definitely recommend and will look for Toby to wait on us in the future! Update: Huge shout out to Jathan out waiter!! We had a table of 17 on a Saturday Nov 29th. He did an outstanding job with taking care of us! Just wanted to give him a shout out!
We enjoy Garcia when we can ,meals are so good and the service is great aswell ,sometimes there is a wait but well worth the wait ..a must try place I recommend this place
I've been here for brunch, lunch, and sometimes for dinner, they never disappoint. The food is always fresh and delicious, the service always cheerful, I love the atmosphere too. One of the best Mexican food places in Lubbock along with great prices.
My husband and I love Garcia’s. We have been going for years. The food and service are always good. Today it was great! Toby was 5 stars!!! Thanks for making it a great lunch! Great job Toby!!
Our quest for authentic Mexican cuisine led my husband and me to Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant, where our initial apprehension about arriving during the dinner rush quickly dissipated. Though a small line of eager patrons awaited, we were remarkably seated within moments of our announcement to the counter. Our waiter promptly greeted us, took our drink order, then graciously afforded us a few extra minutes to navigate the enticing menu. The warm, crispy chips and perfectly spiced hot sauce that arrived shortly after set a delightful precedent. Our main courses followed with impeccable timing – each dish served hot, fresh, and seasoned to absolute perfection, a testament to the kitchen's mastery. Every bite confirmed our excellent choice. From the swift, attentive service to the truly delicious and authentic flavors, our experience at Garcia’s was nothing short of exceptional. My husband and I are already planning our return, eagerly anticipating our next meal at this gem on our future trips.
The place was clean and a nice atmosphere! It was not busy when we went in the afternoon. The food was amazing and it came out quick! Very reasonable on prices! Our waitress was very attentive, she made sure our drinks were full and chips and salsa never ran out!! ( I love the chips and salsa) over all the place was a great place to eat and we will be back!!
This place was packed and we were still taken care of very well by the entire staff. Manager came out multiple times to run food orders out to tables which I love to see. Food was fantastic and I will definitely be back again soon.
Great Mexican restaurant. Greeted promptly at the door. Seated immediately. Chips and salsa were fresh. Chips were hot and salsa was a tad spicy. Waiter came over quickly and took order. Kept tea filled throughout meal. Great selection of combo meals to choose from. Lunch plates came out very hot. Enchiladas and tacos were delicious. Waiter dropped off ticket with no hurry. Everyone was friendly and working quickly. Restaurant is clean and decor is simple. Totally recommend eating here.
Our server Garrett was amazing and attentive! The food was good only lacking in the flavor department. The worst part of our visit was witnessing the lack of work being done by the bussers. When we got there we were told it would be a 10 minute wait and ended up waiting longer. Not a huge deal. Upon looking around there were tons of empty tables full of dishes from previous guests. Once we were seated I observed the bussers talking and taking way too long to clean tables. There were 4 of them cleaning one table at a time and one of the young men never touched a thing, he only stood there and talked. Not very productive. Lots of people were waiting to be seated. Overall everything was good.
Good value for lunch, got fajitas but only got 1 tortilla. Was able to get another no issue but probably should come with 2 automatically
Food was good. Great service.
Awesome food and really great staff. I had the stuffed sopapilla and it was amazing! The layout of the tables is a bit cramped and the atmosphere was quite loud. I also didn't appreciate the children walking table to table selling fundraising treats. I would visit again for the food and service.
The beef fajitas were great. Home made tortillas would have been great. Portions were perfect. Price was reasonable. If you love kool-aid that's great, but if you want to enjoy the margaritas, bring your own liquor because these don't come with any liquor.
2 out of the 3 meals were good. The chicken nachos were nothing special. It was extremely busy! So service was slow.
Very good place to eat. Service is fast
It was full this past Saturday.People waiting in line. Told us 15-20 min.Didnt take that long at all. Took our order, considering how busy they were...Food was out pretty quick. Great Service, Great food, Great price. Will be back😋
We were waiting for table and another couple was seated before us. Had a chicken dinner and it was just a big piece of chicken with sour cream sauce and no flavor at all. Our food took forever after two other tables were sat and their dinners arrived before us. Probably won't be coming back again!
The queso is literally just melted velveeta, the service was sub par (our drinks were empty for a while), it took a good 45 minutes for our food to come out (they were not busy when we went) and the atmosphere felt weird. I will not be returning any time soon. I’ve tried a few times here and this is just not a place for me.
I love the food here!! Have never ordered anything that i was unhappy with. Staff is the problem here. There is one particular young man that is always at the counter. He is rude and not very accommodating. There are a couple of the waitresses that are rude and sloppy but most of the others are very nice and quick to help. The main thing that made me uncomfortable was I came in at 8pm. They do not close until 9:30pm. Was not my waitress but she was already flipping chairs up on the tables to start cleaning her section and it was right where they bring the food out of the kitchen. I found that to be a bit nauseating. Peoples feet have been on the chairs and scooted through trash on the floors. Not something i want near my food!!!
The food could use more flavor . It was good tasting just lacked flavor. The salsa could use some spice to it. Our waiter Carson did an outstanding job! The busboy ( I did not catch his name, but he was an African American) came by & thanked us for dining there & celebrating my daughters birthday there.
Celebrated my bff/wife's birthday here. Received great service despite it being Cinco de Mayo & very busy. Only 15min wait. Food was hot and fresh. Very good for being texmex. Prices are reasonable. Portions are reasonable. Great atmosphere. Really want to try the margaritas next time!! You have to try the mini sopapillas. Tiny and delicious!!
The food is good. But I watched a group as big as my own come in later and get seated before us. People walked in and got seated immediately. We went up to the counter twice and some of us had to leave because we had been standing there around an hour.
The wait was absurd, they said thirty minutes to 3 separate parties...we each waited over an hour. Half my family couldn't eat here, because of the wait. The food was fast (once we set down) but not tasty. No one liked the food. The server was nice enough, but slow and didn't listen to any of us. Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
One guy had long hair swinging it around
Last time I visited this restaurant it was in 2014, I never went back because it was disgusting. We just went for lunch because I decided to give you all another chance and it tasted mediocre - as per usual and i wasn't too pleased about the close in proximity of the tables because I was being stared at the WHOLE time. and why did the tortillas taste like plastic? I do not think I will be going back ever again, considering it was my second time there. I am giving stars to begin with because the waitress was amazing and on top of her job even with a full section of tables. I PERSONALLY GIVE HER 5 STARS. but the restaurant itself? 2.
We eat at Garcia's often and normally service is good, but today it was exceptionally poor. Not sure what the problem was. We had to go get our own silverware and menus. Took 30 minutes to get our food and it was over heated.
I approached the hostess stand and stood there while the "ladies" discussed their previous night at the club. After about 15 seconds one turned to me and said, "Can I help you," as if she just caught me stealing packages from her front porch. I said, "I'm sorry. I thought this is where you go to get a table in this restaurant. Am I in the wrong place?" Not a good start. The service was rushed and inattentive. My food was a sloppy mess (see photo) and the plate was completely overwhelmed by the amount of food. The taco was pretty good after it was pulled from the cheesy, wet goop on which it sat. Overall, I would have great difficulty in finding a reason to return to this establishment.
Took forever!!! We had an order of nachos and an order of tacos … at 30 minutes I asked the waiter to check… at 45 minutes I asked the manager to check… asking why it would take so long for such a simple order the manager was very dismissive and seemed bothered that we interrupted his extended break… They weren’t busy and with service like this I SEE WHY!! (Nachos were soggy by the time we got them from sitting on the warmer so long b4 actually bringing to the table **HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED*
The steak fajita wrap was very skimpy. It was basically a tortilla with avocado and maybe 2 bites of steak fajita. The chips and queso was good though. The server was friendly but I wouldn't go back.
The service took away longer than expected or even needed the food wasn't made correct then when it was returned and brought back it was still wrong the drinks took forever told the waiter four times need more napkins never ever got them the whole experience was just two star Hall in all food wasn't good service wasn't good too many employees standing around talking instead of checking on their customers
Ok so the Carne Guasua (not sure if I spelled it right) this was surprisingly ok and actually tasted somewhat close to what I has expected. But the salsa for the chips was just awful. Unless you LOVE tin can flavored tomato sauce with a few jalapeño seeds. Then there's the waitress only got two glasses of water, and when I went to the bathroom I noticed my waitress just texting on her phone. Just so I could come back to an empty glass. So I had got the ticket she left me while I was away and proceeded to pay. I asked the lady at the bar if I could pay out. She then informed me that my waitress had to get my ticket, who was happily care free of her job texting across from where the bathrooms are. However the lady seemed to have had this problem many times and said if I had a card she could check me out since. "She knew her code anyway". This was because the place was empty and only had four tables of people in groups no more than three.
Not Authentic mexican food. Red chili too dark and no taste, they use powder chili. Not good.
Went here yesterday with my mom for dinner and I haven't ever been here. We got sat really fast and then our waiter took our drink order and my mom had asked for a bloody mary and he said because she didn't bri g her ID that he couldn't serve her the liquor but the people next to us were our waiters friends and he didn't ID them once and everytime he checked on us he would sit with his friends and talk to them. Mostly likey will not be returning again
We are regulars, an have always had the best service. Love the food. The past two times have been awful. To the point I’ll never go back. The waitress was rude hateful an completely disrespectful. For one she was far from put together she never said you’re welcome or thank you. Her name was Selena she wore a lot of makeup an really acted like she hated her job. Service like that does matter. We asked to speak to manager an he said he was sorry but, there was nothing he could do until the owner came in. I work in Collision an we are big on customer service!!! Why? Because they are who keep us going. Sad to say I’ll never return. Selena if you hate your job get a new one.
Our waitress was extremely rude. Didn’t get her name but she was a short lady kinda looked like a manager. My girlfriend and I noticed her horrible attitude from the moment we were sat. I don’t ever write reviews but my experience at this place was just atrocious. I even tried to maybe lighten her mood by complementing the chips and salsa but she just kept up with treating us like trash. Not only that but when we got our food it was very obvious that it was microwaved like they were heated up leftovers. Then to top it off we asked for some tortillas because you know usually plates at Mexican restaurants just come with the tortillas and she very rudely said “they are 25 cents each” like are you kidding me? I HIGHLY do not recommend this place to anyone trying to go have a nice lunch or dinner. Waste of money.
We visited today August 1st, 2016 at 6pm. We were sat in the section behind the bar by the kitchen (table 74/1 according to the check). Our waiter Joey seemed irritated from the beginning. We were never offered drink refills and my mom was dissatisfied with her Acapulco Chicken dinner which she may have eaten 4 bites of. When we received our ticket she mentioned to the waiter that it was bland and not good at all. He got an attitude with her and then asked if she wanted to speak to a manager to get the meal comped. She replied "No, I just wanted you to know so you can relay the message" and he rolled his eyes and walked away saying "K". When he returned the check he dropped it on the table and I thanked him out of habit. He ignored me and turned to walk back to the kitchen. We understand that the flavor and quality of the food is not his responsibility, but a little customer service goes a long way. We will not be returning and do not recommend anyone eat here.
We have always enjoyed Garcia's. Went last Friday and same good food...same good service. Get to looking at my bank statement today and they added an extra$10 to my debit card. Manager not available to take my call. Sad day.
Ladies at front desk were rude and did not want to seat us . Other than that our server and food was good
The food is excellent, but the service is awful. My family and I came in, got seated, got our food ordered by the waiter and he did not ask us how the food was, if we needed any refills or anything. He did not speak to us, asked if we needed anything. Worst experience we have ever had with this restaurant. We were very disappointed. By the way, waiters name is Sam.
RESTAURANT HAS A SERVER OR WORKER FROM THE KITCHEN NAMED IAN, WE CAUGHT HIM RECORDING AND TAKING PICTURES OF MY UNDERAGE DAUGHTER. MANAGEMENT DID NOTHING AND ALLOWED HIM TO KEEP WORKING. OWNER STILL HAS NOT CALLED ME. WHO KNOWS HOW LONG OR HOW MANY TIMES THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON. FAMILIES BEWARE.
Food is horrible. Rice is always crunchy and overcooked. Beans are from a can. Service is absolutely atrocious. This place is maybe the worst Mexican restaurant in this town. Go somewhere like Chelo’s. Even Abuelo’s is better than this…..
Waited 15 minutes...no one waited on our table. I asked for menu’s, napkins and flatware at the hostess desk. Waiter by the name of Trevor finally acknowledged our presence and took our order....30 minutes later we got our food. It had obviously sat in the kitchen the entire time. When we questioned Trevor about our order...he argued with us and made it very clear he was right and we were wrong. We’ve eaten in Garcia’s for many years and have always loved the food and had great service. Today is proof that some people should not be in the restaurant service profession. I hope Trevor felt great about making his point with me... I made mine by paying cash for the exact amount of our meal and zero for his tip. The best tip I could give him would be find another job....you’re ability to serve lacks greatly.
We have been eating here for over 15 years. Eat the same thing each time. We have been blessed to have great servers like Taylor (Burger) and John waiting on us over the years. The past 3 times we have been in there, the quality has been really bad. Each time we have told John but he just says sorry, and gives us a different excuse each time, like new cooks, etc. Doesn't seem to really care. Tonight, chips were really greasy, asked John for better ones, brought out more greasy chips. Stuffed Sopapilla which has always been awesome, was over cooked, not sweet as usual and meat was full of grease. This again was 3rd time we dealt with this, and John never offered to fix our issues. All he said was I guess if you don’t come back I will see you when I see you. Sadly after all these years we will eat at a different Mexican food restaurant as there is plenty of them here in Lubbock Texas.
Dazmine was the waitress, totally useless. It was lunchtime, not terribly busy, I've seen it busier. Sat there , kid you not, 15 minutes before our waitess came to the table. We asked 3 times for a wait....bla bla bla...it was a sorry dining experience served by a sorry person. My wife and I tip very well, even on sub-par service. Dazmine received what she was worth.....nothing!!!! The plaza is just as good but not as convenient.
I came and I was there 10 minutes and some kind of bug bites me on my right forearm it looked white and it hurt been 4 days and its swollen and itchy then the plate burned my right forearm the plates shouldn't come out that hot it's to dangerous especially with kids I have big burn on right arm
I went to go eat 12-18-25 it was 8:15pm when we went a family of 5 they sat us in small booth oh well it's fine was demanding to order in a rush because they close at 8:45 my first time going and the experience was terrible omg the server messed up our order and didn't receive she dropped entree off left to go clean then the kids entree it was a Tamale smothered in beef and it was all salty the baby couldn't eat it I'm so disappointed on the experience for a first timer spent over 50$ trying to play my phone but wouldn't upload
Went out to eat with my family for lunch when my dad pulled a piece of metal out of his mouth from his carne guisada. I immediately took it to our waitress who took the piece from me and said it’s from the metal dish scrubber. She then apologized a couple of times and that’s all we heard from it. First of all, any type of metal dish scrubber in your mouth is extremely unsanitary. He also could’ve been hurt if he swallowed it. Not hearing from a manager about how or why this happened or being assured it won’t happen again was nuts. The management in this place is awful and it shows. Somehow, the metal found its way from the dish sink to his food so we are thinking it has to be in the batch of carne they keep in the back but they just don’t care to check or don’t want to waste money by throwing it out and being safe. I’m sure an employee would’ve seen the metal piece on the plate before putting food down so I don’t know how else it could’ve been IN his food. All we got was apologies from our waitress and no one else spoke to us or told us it was fixed. We will not be eating here again after being customers for YEARS. We have celebrated so many birthdays and still supported after numerous failed health inspections but not anymore. They obviously don’t care about the customer and only care about money. They also took the piece of metal away before I could take a picture but they have cameras and know I’m telling the truth. This is also being reported to the health department. Absolutely disappointed in the place. I’m pretty positive I saw two managers walking around and they never said anything to us. So did the waitress not say anything to anyone or did management not care? Not a good look either way.
