Sign on the front door stating they will be charging an extra $.50 for each egg you order. That comes to an extra $1 charge for any egg plate you get! So I got their biscuits and gravy with sausage. Gravy was cold! This place has really gone downhill over the years. A different person is managing it, and it certainly shows. I think we are done with going there for a quick breakfast.

Me and my husband placed an order this morning and when my husband got home and we started eating the food it was absolutely fabulous the French toast was cooked all the way and crunchy on the outside, the breakfast burrito was grilled everything tasted exceptionally perfect. Hats off to the cook that was working this morning. Excellent service through the drive-thru waitstaff is always nice and courteous. Great experience will go again.

Get here early, because it gets busy! This place is consistently the best breakfast on this side of town. The service is great and the food comes out quickly. There is usually a special for the day that is always worth a look. The biscuits and gravy are great, and the meat selections are high quality. They don’t give you tiny pieces of bacon or anything like that. There are several rooms so they can seat a lot of people. This place is always on the top of my list. If it’s too busy, they have a drive through.

I don't know if Greg G., a cook, was responsible for my delicious and perfectly prepared meal, but I was 100% satisfied with my fish entree. Super busy restaurant with excellent service. No wait and the staff was friendly. Lots of sport memorabilia covering the walls to soak in. The restrooms were clean as well as the overall inside. With this much traffic you need to stay on the ball or it could be a mess in no time. The food was served quickly and fresh to the table.

We ate at this place just to try something from our norm. I was glad we did. My son and I had the blt and onion rings. It was very good. My husband had the hamburger and liked it. My youngest ate the pancakes and loved them. The wait staff said they were short handed, but they still did an excellent job. We all ate for around $35. We were pleased and will back again sometime.

Great diner for Saturday/Sunday breakfast! My wife and I found this place when we were attending Texas Tech back in 2012, we just moved back to Lubbock and this was the first place we went for a good meal. My wife get the pancakes and I get the french toast both amazing. Eggs are always hot and fresh, coffee is good and wait staff is incredible! Plus they do not charge you outrageous prices for good home-cooked meals. If your in the area you've got to try the Red Zone, but be sure to get there early and expect a little wait because everyone goes there for breakfast! Red Zone is my one and only breakfast place in the Hub city.

I love the people and the environment here, I rarely have to ask for a refill because they're almost always on top of it and the waitresses are all so polite BUT the kitchen holds this place back immensely. Now I'm not sure if it's the restaurant's rules or if it's the staff choosing to use workarounds but there's absolutely no reason things like pancakes or toast shouldn't be made fresh to order every time. There's nothing worse than ordering pancakes and having a clearly reheated rubbery patty served to you. Orders lately come out wrong even when the ticket is written correctly and it's only gotten worse over the last few months. They will rectify the situation by removing it from your bill but you still walk away unfulfilled. I love the place and want to continue supporting it but it's getting harder to go back. I don't usually go for lunch or dinner service so this is speaking specifically on the breakfast side.

Our waitress was very nice and attentive! My cup would be almost empty and she was already adding more. Their sweet tea is the best tea I've ever had. The mash potatoes were really good just not quite warm enough. Besides the mash not being warm enough it was all amazing. I got the fried shrimp dinner and it was delish! I love that they had a soup of the day even though I got the salad instead. In my opinion the salad was fantastic!!

I will say that on the weekends, Red Zone Cafe does get packed. With that being said, we were able to get a table within minutes and they have enough servers that you aren’t left waiting. Our food came out quickly and it was delicious.

A friend told me about this place and we totally loved it! Great food and super affordable. We order food for 3 people and only paid less than $40. Great flavor, food was hot, and super quick service. Honestly, it's way better than ihop by a lot. The only thing I didn't really like was the coffee; it was so water down, not good at all. (Im a coffee addict) and also our server was not patient at all, we kinda didn't know what to order since it was our first time there and she was just a little annoyed that we didn't know exactly what we wanted. But I like to rate/review the food, and the food was great!

The general manager was talking loud to his employees in front of everyone, I was missing my bacon so they were making a big deal about it that they put it on and no they did not so I went and showed him my burger and he said oh they took you your bacon but thats all they were talking about how I received my bacon no I didn't, but they bitched about it the whole time, excuse my language, but they don't have to talk to the employees like that then they also say I didn't pay for the bacon and yes I did I have my receipt to show them ,but he then tries to go apologize and still can't admit there wrong he keeped saying it was the waitress fault, but she wrote it and I got charged for it just a disappointment to how he talk to your employees. I will post my receipt and to show him that I paid for the bacon and that I wasn't trying to get nothing for free either. Not sure if I will return again, due to such rude personal, your waitress work hard, and don't deserve to be treated that way

I was visiting from out of town with my best friend and her sister recommended this diner. I ordered the fish plate and it was cooked to hard and long. I love seafood but could not eat the plate. I didn't like the veggies. But the waitress made me feel welcomed. Probably will not return if I should visit Lubbock again.

I’ve ordered from this place numerous times. Saturday at 2pm I called to report a problem with my order. The person (female) would not give me her name, only said the owner is Joe. What kind of business does not allow to make a complaint to management? Never again, I will permanently stay away from this place!

Red zone used to be a delicious icon of Lubbock. Today it is not. I waited for my to-go order to be “finished cooking” and when they handed it to me it was cold. It also cost about $10 more($5 per meal) than it used to. I ordered two burgers and two fries. When sitting to eat, they can no longer substitute different options often because of management. It USED to be popping with wait staff that never changed hopping around happy at work that would substitute anything to help a customer be happy. It used to have very reasonable prices and it felt like they cared about making a positive impact on the community and less about trying to get every penny. Very disappointed with the management change after the owners passing. Rest in peace. Many people still go to red zone because it is one of the oldest restaurants and they would hate to see it die. But many are still upset about pricing and the nickle and diming that’s occurring. If it weren’t for its heritage this restaurant wouldn’t be here. Also please fix the ceiling with obvious water damage. That could fall on customers heads at any moment!

I called just to inform them that my order was wrong. I paid for cheese for two hamburger steaks, onions and cheese on both salads. Clearly you see the results. The young lady that answered the phone put me on hold, got back on the phone and argued with me that her cooks ensured her the orders were prepared correctly. I clearly said ma’am why would I lie about some cheese and onions, THAT I PAID FOR per my receipt. Then she rudely said you can bring it back. Now why would I do that, especially being I can’t see you prepare my food, while you’re upset!! It’s called accountability!

The atmosphere is great! Service was good. The chicken fried steak wasn't very hot! Our bill was 40 bucks, and the receipt automatically included a $1.40 credit card fee without notification. Upon payment for our meal I waited to see if the cashier would remove the credit card fee because we were paying with cash. She did not remove the fee and proceeded to charge us with fee still included. When I asked the cashier lady if she could remove the credit card fee, no response was given. She printed a new receipt minus credit card fee and handed it to me, so I paid with cash. Our paid receipt had printed out on the printer and she just pointed to it so I could grab it. She didn't have the decency to hand it to me. And again not a word came out of her mouth. No greeting, no duration, no thank you. BE SURE and check your receipts at this place. It makes me wonder how many times this happens a day there, without notice.

We have been gone to Red Zone for years. And the last 6 months it has been absolutely horrible. The food has been horrible either raw or burnt( mostly burnt) or an old grease taste. And the staff is extremly rude. The last 20 orders have been wrong. And I am not saying simple things wrong. Big things wrong. Wrong food put on our plates. Missing food we did order and paid for. We never know what we are going to get. I am all about giving grace always making excuses for the staff etc..maybe they are tired or super busy..but really there is no excuse for rude. I hate it but going to start looking for a new place to eat. Red Zone management needs to step. We cannot eat out due to being caretakers. So ordering out is our only option.

I picked up two breakfast burritos today and they looked a few day old. It had huge sqare block potatoes that were dried out and horrendous the the bacon was burned and looked like bacon bit. After enjoying Red zone for the past 15 years today I got the worst service I had ever received. It was a call in order. They accidentally forgot one item of my order and also made a mistake on another. Usually fixing this is very simple I just walk in and it gets fixed. Today on the other hand, I was looked at as if I was stupid. The drive thru girl was polite, I guess, but one in the front with the long hair acted like her job was a inconvenience. I have worked in customer service for 30 years, and I would not have my customers treated as such. I did thank her and due to being scuffed at I told her to smile more.

I did a favor delivery last night. I ordered their club sandwich with fries. Not sure what their idea of a club sandwich is, but I am pretty sure it is suppose to include meat. We used to love eating here. The food was good and you'd be in and out quick. The last two times we've eaten here we've waited over an hour for our food. Something is going on here and it's not for the better. The wait staff are the ones really taking the fall here. People are complaining and they are serving 1/4 of the tables they normally do = 1/4 of the income.

I have been a long time customer, and lately the service has been bad. Example waitress being greedy with the amount of tables they have. Food prices, surcharge on eggs but they only post on register but not in the menu or don’t tell you about surcharge until you get to register. This is unfair. I will not be going back!

Got our food wrong saw the lady talk with the cooks and they got mad and started back talking to her. Worst cooks I've seen and I come here regularly. Some one needs to tell the cooks to take a chill pill or don't work here. A grown man should not be talking to a girl like that. The cook was raised with no respect but the server was excellent and very nice.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE SCAM ON THE RECEIPT. "2.8-2.9%" CHARGE FOR USING DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD. CUSTOMERS BEING BILLED FOR FOOD THEY DO NOT RECEIVE ALL THE TIME. ONLY ONE SIZE DRINK. STAFF IGNORING PEOPLE WHEN THERE IS HARDLY ANYONE THERE. THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. NO SUBSTITUTIONS ONLY MORE AND MORE CHARGES. THIS PLACE JUST KEEPS GOING DOWNHILL.

Used to love this place but quality and service has gone so far down hill its sad. Also the prices went up so much its crazy dont look at the menu prices online they are misleading and out of date.

People make mistakes, the communication was off with our table caused a slight delay. But its fine the time was not the issue...but the worst part, hair in 3 of our plates.

Usually a regular customer but today was a horrible experience. Only ordered 2 breakfast burritos with 3 ingredients. First ordered it about 15 minutes before we went to pick it up then had to drive through the drive-through lane three times because they didn’t have it ready. Since when can we not pay for ice in a cup instead of having to buy a drink? Entire burrito was no bigger than my hand & only 1/2 inch thick and tasted old, plenty of bacon, but hardly any potatoes and no eggs… for $12 I don’t think so won’t be back.

This place has disappointed me so much of late. First, I took my kids on a Saturday lunch, and they closed the restrooms to clean them at 1. Even the cook was annoyed. Second, I've gone through the drive thru and and both times the last two orders I had were wrong. Once, I asked for double meat cheeseburgers for me and my girl and only got one patty. The time before that, same order, only it took an hour to get my food. I had to walk in to ask about it, and it was bagged and ready just sitting on a counter, not under a lamp, and it was cold. At this point, I wouldn't care if they offered me free food to come back. The could keep it.

I’ve visited this location many times before, but unfortunately, this was by far my worst experience. I was served raw fish, and after sending the plate back three times, I eventually decided not to eat it at all. The cook was visibly upset—cussing out coworkers and even what appeared to be management staff, which made the entire atmosphere uncomfortable. To make matters worse, instead of simply removing the fish from my bill, they spread the cost of the plate across other items—charging things like $5 for bacon and $4 for drinks—to make up the difference. That kind of handling feels dishonest and unprofessional. If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would. The only bright spot was Olivia—she was kind, attentive, and genuinely tried everything she could to make the experience better. The owner should really look into hiring and training more employees like her.

I have been there a couple of times and it was good. I bragged about the quality and price of the food. Today I took my daughter for the first time, I was so disappointed in the quality of the food. I kept apologizing to my daughter because we clearly didn't enjoy our food. I will not be returning, it would be waisting our time and money

Not good at all. We came in at about 2pm on a Sunday for lunch. It was extremely crowded and dirty. When we finally got service, the waitress got our salad order wrong and did not give us any straws. The food was not any better. I ordered the catfish, and it was very disappointing. The fish was undercooked and had a raw taste. Also, the waitress did not bother to tell me that they pour gravy on the mashed potatoes. I am a Pescitarian; I cannot eat gravy. They also included a cup of beans mixed with something else. I have no idea if it had meat or not, so that went to waste too. All this time, the wait staff were already moving tables around and cleaning by 2:30pm; 30 minutes before closing. I worked in a restaurant before. We were not allowed to do any cleaning or housekeeping until the last customer left, even if we had to stay late. Given the sloppy preparation of our food and their behavior, it is clear that they were in a hurry to get all of their customers out before 3pm. This restaurant needs to be more considerate of their customers in terms of atmosphere (overcrowding and cleaning while customers are still eating) and dietary restrictions (be more clear/descriptive on the menu).
