Really good food for the price. As of 2 Jan 2020, 2 waters, two buffets were right at $15. Very affordable with a decent buffet selection and a good server staff. Would highly recommend!

A classic restaurant in Lufkin, some of the best egg rolls on the planet, I believe they make them in house. One of my favorites in Lufkin. Older establishment, but clean and amazingly friendly service. One of my top ten places to eat in Lufkin. Smaller buffer, but quality, not quantity is the apparent theme for them.

This place is my favorite spot for chinese anywhere. The buffet is excellent and the take out has never dissapointed. If you are ordering off the menu, i highly recommend the general george shrimp with brown fried rice and an order of crab rangoon. If shrimp isnt your thing you can sauce any protien you choose. Admittedly, the facility isnt in the best shape but the decently priced/ flavorful food is worth every penny.

Quint atmosphere, don't be turned away by the appearance from outside. We got the all you can eat buffet by accident (didn't know there was a menu) and we were surprised by the reasonable price ($12 !) and the quality of the food - so flavorful. Well done.

Chens is the best Chinese food in town. Pepper steak is good but could be improved on tenderness. You get lots of soup for cheap if you order some to go.

LOVE IT....I visited one day, just by chance because the prices were reasonable, ordered the Wonderful Shrimp and fell in love with it. The buffet looks wonderful, but I don't really like eating behind other people, I'd rather have my meal served and brought to me. But every time I've gone, everyone is eating the buffet, so I may try it soon.

I've been to many Chinese cuisines and this is definitely one of my favorite ones. Been ordering here for almost 4 years now and they haven't dissapointed once. Very nice employees and the drive thru service moves reasonably quick when it's not too busy. I wish they offered more items in their menu/buffet but it's rather cheap and they offer Blue Bell ice cream! If you are looking for a nice place to eat this is one you definitely need to go!

The food is fresh, very tasty, many items on the buffet all good. They offer senior discount, and even without that it is very reasonable. Personally I love this type of cooking and food. Free ice cream cone you can get in the restaurant and I reccomend Chen's.

Ok so, First things first, Chen's is awesome, I love the service and the the staff are really nice. I love how they seat you fast and are always making sure you're ok and have the best service, If I was to blow my money anywhere, here is where I'd go first. I really like the potato slices and the lo mien, The fried wontons are always fresh and delicious and right before something is almost gone, they're already putting more food out, steaming fresh.

Hands down the best egg rolls in town. The food is always good and fresh. The only place in town that offers tofu and they are willing to go off menu to do so. Service has always been quick and polite. During COVID they have gone to drive through only. They use masks and have installed plexiglass shields on not just the drive through but the front door as well. They go above and beyond and I am really impressed.

The food is always great here. It's a buffet and they don't change the options much. What they have is always good each time I've been. This is the place my 8 year old always wants to go to when I ask what he wants for dinner.

I travel a lot. Visiting Lufkin and I’m VERY IMPRESSED!!! Best sesame chicken that I’ve had in years. They got my special requests correct, it was fast and priced fairly(I think everything is too expensive lately, but their price is below others, so ok give them credit for that). And the chicken was all white meat, huge pieces, nice portion size!!! Good job. I’m not very adventurous with my Chinese food, so I can only comment on the sesame chicken and white steam rice (I know, I’m basic) — but it was great!!

Chen's has a fairly nice size parking lot for a small restaurant but there is usually quite a bit of parking available. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside but the food is really good. It's actually much better than the other Chinese food restaurants in town. The buffet is small but satisfying. I love fried rice and orange chicken. They also have deserts and an ice cream bar. I sometimes even get a to go plate. Their prices are really reasonable and they're to go plates are priced by weight. All and all, I recommend this restaurant for a good filling buffet.

My family has been eating here for over 20 yrs and I wouldn't change a thing!! My mom used to take me when I was 9 and now I take my family! This place is a staple of Lufkin tx with some delicious egg rolls, Lol mein, and pork on stick. Yes the buffet is small but it keeps the food fresh and they know what works! The customer service is always friendly plus the free ice cream is a complete win.. try going during lunch or dinner hours to ensure the freshest food and don't forget your appetite🤤

Some of the best Chinese food I have had. Place needs some renovations and some A/C, according to wait staff the owners are very cheap. But as far as the food, it was fantastic.

Food was good. Used drive thru and they give you a receipt to sign with the space for you to leave a tip. Never been to a drive-thru that expects a tip.

Buffet is usually great! Have been before when it wasn't the freshest but stuff happens. Good selection and they have Blue Bell for dessert. This is the only place I will get Chinese in Lufkin. And no, it's not your imagination... She does look like the matchmaker from Mulan. ;)

Speaking purely from dining in, Chen's has a moderate-sized selection of Chinese goodies to eat from. I'm a sucker for G. Tso's chicken and stir-fried broccoli and this place rocks that pretty well. They also have lo mein, rice noodles, and rice so your starches are covered. The buffet is WAY better than their meal options for value because I hear the price is similar. I'd say their low point is the Wonton soup. Not very flavorful, even if you add green onions from the tub next to it.

I've been coming here since I was a kid. Mrs. Lee is always quick to recognize me, and makes me feel like family. The atmosphere is excellent and I've never had bad service. The food is, as someone else stated, comparable to your standard Chinese buffet fare. Definitely not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but not world-class. Stop in and try the General George Chicken or Sweet and Sour Chicken!

Best egg rolls on the planet. I wish they still served lunch from a menu instead of a buffet - I am not a fan of buffets. The food was still good but it would be better if individually prepared. I've been eating there since the early 1990's. I'd still go back.

Overall a decent experience. It is a typical small family owned location that definitely tries, staff is friendly, dining room ambience is ok, a little light music could help it some and temperature is a little warm, but that is what happens in Texas in the middle of the summer. The food was good, more vegan options would be good but it's good.

I have been eating at Chens for about 25 years. I love that the buffet is a smaller buffet and that there is always someone cleaning and filling the food. The price is very fair and the waitresses are attentive and friendly. However, sometimes the food on the buffet can be Luke warm and I definitely don't like that. I also don't like how someone will come from the back and get food off of the buffet to fill, what I am assuming are drive thru orders.. There are only roughly 3 Chinese buffets in Lufkin with Chen's being the best in my opinion. The restaurant is clean and has a laid back atmosphere.

My husband and I stopped in after an appointment to Chen's as we've not been before. The lady at the front was really friendly as was our server, who was really attentive. We had the lunch buffet, which had a fabulous price. The Orange Peel and General Tso's chicken was absolutely flavorful, but just a skosh overcooked. Didn't detract from the deliciousness though. Definitely try the egg rolls and Hot and Sour Soup! Will come back again!

I and my mother dined at Chen’s about a week ago. It was quite good in my opinion, though there was a bit of a language barrier. The food is amazing; there are fewer options than expected, but the overall experience was relaxing. The service, as I said, had a bit of a language barrier; though the waitress was very respectful and friendly. The music was peaceful. Though it is a smaller-scale restaurant, I feel it could use some more traditional decorum, not only to attract more visitors, but to accurately capture what makes Chinese culture so unique and appealing to those who have little knowledge or experience with China. I would recommend that anyone try it, as it is (in my opinion) one of the higher ranking Chinese restaurants I have visited, and I have been to numerous.

Im used to chinese food from living most of my life in the Houston area. This place's version of honey seared chicken was not good and their orange chicken was also not good. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

Very friendly service and relaxed atmosphere but food was not all that good. My brown rice was all clumped together and yes, the food all tasted like leftovers.

Has really went down hill in the last 2 years. Wish they would change up the menu, maybe invest in their drink machines (the coke always tastes funny) and maybe redo the building. Nice people though.

I really wasn't a fan. I wanted to like it, I really did. On the surface, quick service and reasonable pricing. Below that, subpar food quality. I had the beef and broccoli, and while the beef portion was okay, the broccoli left a lot to be desired. There was no consistency in the cooking of the broccoli, leaving some floppier than an old man after the Cialis wears off, then some that were so hard that I could've broke a rock with it. The only good thing about this trip, and the only reason this got 2 stars, is that the fried dumplings were perfectly and evenly cooked all the way through with just the right amount of crunch. I only wish they had paid this much attention to the rest of my meal.

Im pretty easy to please, but the food i had here was not good at all. Sauce was watery. Menu said id get fried rice...i got white. My daughter got fried though. It was white rice with veggies in it...not even soy sauce. So bland i felt like i was eating boiled beef with canned water chestnuts and raw broccoli (Hunan beef. Daughters orange chicken was better...passable but not worth $18)

This place is awful, The owner of the place will literally over charge you if you get a buffet to go so watch the scale carefully. The food is okay but, for the price I've completely stopped going their and now go to Empire instead same prices more selections.

Needs more variety like the one down the street

I have been eating here for many many years and always loved it. However this time I went I was quite disappointed. The sign on the door said they was open till 10 p.m. online it showed to be open till 10 p.m. when we arrived at 9:05 we was seated and served our drinks per the usual. We had one helping off of the buffet when we was told the buffet was closing in 3 min and if we wanted more we better get it now! Mind you it was only 9:25, and then was asked to pay our ticket rite then when usually you pay on your way out. I went immediately to get a second plate and they was already clearing the bar at 9:27. Extremely disappointed and we will have to find another Chinese food restaurant for a while as we will need time to forgive the rudeness and the fact that we felt rushed out the door. But it is great food for a buffet and we will return when we get over it lol.

I ordered a #8 (General George Chicken with fried rice), an extra egg roll, and an order of dumplings. This the most disappointed I've been in this establishment the entire time I've supported them. The chicken was either overcooked or dried out too much and I think they thought if they drenched it in sauce they could salvage it. They basically sold me something that should have been thrown out. The fried rice was also very bland and didn't have the common peas and carrots in it. I probably won't be going back, I don't want to take a chance of wasting money and getting food like this again. The egg roll and the dumplings came out decent, but it also seemed like they skimped on the meat in the egg roll. I know there normally isn't a lot inside, but you can usually see it. I didn't see any in mine. This would have been a 1 star review, but I gave them 2 stars because they at least got the order right.

Food is good, service has been great until tonight. I ordered lemonade & got water, which is fine, told the server I will stick w/ water. Got the check and was charged for lemonade. When went to pay, I asked her to remove the lemonade, she looked at as if I was lying. She had to ask hostess, then server. Server stated I had water. Cashier still did not believe me, and the looks she gave me! She took lemonade off the bill and wasnt the most pleasant. I told her she disrespected me by assuming I lied. She then went into a rant about me disrespecting her. I had picked 2 cookies on way to cashier, I had eaten 1 while being accused of lying. The second I was about to eat heading out the door, and she said "I didn't charge you for the cookie", I stated it was part of the buffet. She stated only if you eat it at the table. REALLY. Won't be going back again. Chinese hibachi 1/4 mile down the road is good, doubt they'll accuse me of lying.

I order the chicken and shrimp cashew with fried rice. She brought white rice and had to switch it. The only vegetable on the plate was celery, lots of celery, no water chestnuts, carrots, nothing. The waitress never checked on me other than to bring my check. Very disappointed. Should have just done Panda Express.

I really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere is old and dated. But it looked clean. The server was so friendly. But most importantly the food was gross. I ordered sweet n sour chicken. The fried rice had the worst taste and flavor ive ever had. The chicken was chewy and hard to cut. It tasted old and not very fresh. I coildnt even eat it, it was that bad.

I ate the shrimp here last night. When I got home, I started feeling a bit nauseated and weird so I went to sleep. Woke up sick as a dog this morning with an upset stomach and cold sweats. The worst of it has subsided but I feel like hell. Never again.

It's been about 2 months since we tried it. We were thinking voted best in Lufkin that the food would be good. The food was not good. A lot of the buffet items had been under the heat for so long that they were dried out and over cooked. Also the manager /owner or whatever she was is beyond rude. Of course she speaks with an accent, it's expected however, her interaction with another employee was rude and not acceptable. We will never return. I would rather go eat at the outdated China Garden

I will never go back! Fried rice looked like it was burnt and there was not many options. The chicken mushroom tasted like turkey? I am a chef and this was by far from good. Little selection for the price and not tasty at all. Will not go back!

I am an avid customer of Chen’s so I knew to order my food before proceeding through a long line during this terrible winter storm. I was told to pull near the front door to wait for my food and so I waited longer than 30 minutes. I decided to get out and go in to check on my food and the lady at the front yelled at me to go back to my car. I waited longer and got back out of my vehicle to check on my food and I wanted only my money back since I had waited so long but she told me that I would have to go to the back where they were making the food-for a refund. I did that because she was exceptionally rude and she decided to go to the back to check on my food finally and the lady came out with my food. This has really tainted my view of Chen’s and I’m very disappointed with customer service. The lady in the front who would not give me her name has hurt my heart because I will not support this establishment anymore and the people whom I have shared this story will not either.

Exactly what I expected. 1950s fake Chinese food covered in brown gravy. Just horrible. 3 bites I was gone. I paid them $12 for a plate of food and left it all. That was cheap $12 not to have to eat that garbage. If I had a dog I definitely would not feed him this food.

When walking in the "Awards" on the door say best in Lufkin.. Well sure you can say that seeing as they are the ONLY Chinese buffet in Lufkin. But in a general, The worst Chinese I have ever had! If I could give this 0 stars I would. Me and my mother went to eat here and we got one plate of food each from the buffet and both had tea. The food was absolutely horrible and made me(30 weeks pregnant) and my mother sick to our stomachs. We did not eat more than a few bites and decided we needed to leave. My mother expressed her concerns about the food to both the manager and the waitress and we were not only laughed at but completely disrespected by the woman working at the front. We had to pay more than half of what our meal was priced at for food we didn't even eat much of and she said she has never gotten a complaint about her food. I now know this is a lie after seeing reviews. Absolutely rediculous and horrible service. We WILL NOT EVER be returning.

This place is absolutely disgusting. I just went to eat here with my dad and we couldn’t wait to leave. Service was okay. Food was lukewarm and no flavor and clearly no effort. Building is hot and smells like mold in bathroom. Pictures of bathroom mold included. Floors sagging, only hang up tapestries over the door to the kitchen. And it was very clear no one was following food safety protocols. Just abhorrent. I’m gonna be surprised if we don’t get food poisoning. PLEASE don’t waste your money.

I ordered 3 plates, shrimp fried rice, chicken fried rice and combination fried rice. Let’s just start with the portions that they give, plate loaded with fried rice and a few pieces of meat. The combination fried rice had 2 pieces of beef 4 pieces of beef and 2 shrimp…. This is not an estimate, this is the actual amount I counted. This isn’t the first time this has happen to my family. We’ve been there a few times and we continue to try to give them a chance. The food was also a bit cold like it had been cooked already and just sitting out waiting to be plaited. Maybe it was from their buffet line or something but we will not be giving them another try. They just haven’t done enough to earn our business.

Not my first experience with Chen's but certainly will be my last. Had a discussion yesterday with a colleague that defended Chen's with the caveat that you have to order off the menu and not get the buffet. So, I drove through Chen's today and ordered beef on a stick (spoiler- should be called BARF on a stick), egg rolls, pot stickers, crab Rangoon, and Happy Family. Surprise, or not surprise, it was the same garbage you get from the buffet. To top it off the tea was sour. Is there some secret handshake or do you literally have to ask for the "good" food at Chen's? Sod it, I'll never know because I"m done trying.

Service was as expected no complaints, however the variety is extremely limited and the food is of sub-par quality. Sweet and sour chicken with runny batter and overcooked chicken. We were mean mugged the entire meal by an older couple and the entire atmosphere was terrible.

I ordered a veggie fried rice because I’m vegan just to find but of an unknown meat spread through the entire rice. Looks like skin.. They completely got my order wrong and now I’ve wasted my time, energy and money..
